Best restaurant/bar we’ve been to in Seattle. The staff were very nice and the bartender made amazing drinks(two hot charlottes please!). Love the design/décor/ambiance. Will definitely go back.

We had my bachelorette party here before heading out dancing. They let us have a beautifully decorated and comfortable corner for our group of 14. We had dinner, drinks, games, and gifts. The serving staff were extremely professional and gracious. They kept our drinks full and helped the maid of honor host the party doing little things like plating the cupcakes she brought and providing last minute champagne toast. I highly recommend this place for a party!!!

My husband and I came here with another married couple. This pace is like walking into the Great Gatsby :) such beautiful décor and the service there was phenomenal. We have never been here before so we had no idea what to expect. The food was also delicious. I cannot wait to go back for a date night. The price was amazingly decent.

Came here on a weekday with a couple of friends while a live band was playing. Fun music/atmosphere, though it was definitely louder than we expected(so it was hard to hold a conversation at times). I tried the Ryan Gosling(who could resist?) and the happy hour fries were dang good and a decent deal. Pleasant service, too.

This is the kind of place to which you would bring a date to get laid. Really cool vibe and strong, but well-crafted cocktails that would sure to impress. In fact, there were about 40 – 50 cocktails on the menu including about 10 seasonal ones. I’ve never heard of some of the ingredients — dandelion bitter, love potion bitter, china china, etc. In addition to these creative drinks, their Old Fashion is apparently great as well. Only wished they explicitly did bartender’s choice. The Backdoor was almost like a speakeasy, with a dark unmarked door next to a parking lot. They did give themselves away by the big mural outside pointing out the place though. Once inside, the interior was a mixture of hipster murals, Victorian chandeliers, ethnic lamps and angel statues. As a personal preference, I thought that was a pretty neat combo. Service was a bit slow at times. Also, when the staff brought our food, he didn’t bring any silverware. The curried cauliflower we got was actually Thai styled; therefore more sweet than savory. It was good but maybe a bit too sweet for my taste.

A good hide-a-way place in Fremont and is open late, so is a great place if you are going out on a weeknight. They have an array of flights to choose from ranging from anything from tequila to whiskey. Prices vary depending on what type of mood you are in, but is fairly priced overall. The ambiance is dim lighting with a bar that you want to take pictures of as you marvel at the character of the room. The seats are wood and a little uncomfortable but it also makes the setting quite fun. Great place to check out!

Cool place with a great happy hour. Fun atmosphere that feels like a speakeasy in the heart of Fremont. The bartender makes his own tonic, make sure to try it! Good for drinks and food.

Started the evening here for a girls night out and it was the perfect place to have dinner/small plates, drinks, and conversation. It was super convenient that they have a parking lot and the hostess gives you a ticket to basically validate your parking. The menu had a vast array of options, including fresh veggies, for a person such as myself looking for some lighter fare to along with my beer. We ended up staying here for a couple of hours before finally venturing back out into the cold. All in all a great venue for a weekend evening. Next time I’ll have to show up before 5 and try the front side diner of Roxy’s.

Please, don’t mind me while I put on my flapper dress and get drunk. This place has an awesome«speakeasy» atmosphere, although the wall decorations are something else to speak for. But! They’ve got chandelier low lit lighting and their servers were on top of things. Drinks were a good strength too. Can’t complain!

This place is beautiful! The entrance is literally the backdoor to the building, and took us a little while to find it but it was fun! the backdoor is right by the parking and it’s kinda shady, but then you open the door and the interior design is just gorgeous! The chandeliers, the unsymmetrical lights on the wall, the murals, and the lighting is super cool! They have an extensive cocktail menu, which is kinda overwhelming lol pages of cocktails, they’ve got it down to science! they also have a Captain’s menu which is the list of all the alcohols they have! SOMANY!

You must come here at least once just to make Ryan Gosling jokes all night. My friends and I stopped in here for happy hour one day and had a blast! The small plates are very reasonably priced on happy hour and I love the speakeasy vibe. The Ryan Gosling(Rye and Gosling — $ 10) seems to be the most popular drink and I must say it was pretty tasty. If you’re an In-N-Out Burger fan, you can get an animal style burger with fries as the next best option to booking a flight to California. It was delicious! The décor is awesome and the bartenders were friendly and had great suggestions. Make it a stop on your way through Fremont!

Love this place. Cool chill vibes. Not too dark and shady, but not too bright and uptight. Best of all, you can hear your friends talk because the music is not obnoxiously loud. Woo hoo! The drinks are STRONG and the crab cakes are AMAZING. Love love love the crab cakes here.

Super shady from the outside, but super cute after opening the door. Quick and attentive service and the food was tasty but smaller portions. We had the Mac & Cheese and the Chicken Satays. Both were good but small. The cocktails however we incredible. Well crafted and strong enough to warrant the price. Best part of the evening. Worst part: Loud guy at the bar who repetitive yelled and used foul language while talking to EVERYBODY. Staff sat by while the rest of us stared on in amazement. Would have been four or five stars but the fact none of the bar staff or waiters bothered to say shut the hell up, didn’t sit well with us.

My friend mentioned that this was his favorite bar so I had to try it out! I was surprised I didn’t know about this place since I frequent Fremont quite a bit. It’s literally right behind the Roxy’s diner and you enter on the side. There’s a huge drawing on the side of the building so you can’t miss it. I came here on a Monday night so there wasn’t that many people. I think I instantly fell in love with the chill ambiance right when I walked in. It had that speakeasy lighting and the music wasn’t playing too loud. It had an extremely relaxed vibe and the high ceilings definitely helped. Plus, it’s super spacious! The bartender that tended to us was great and the cocktail I got was pretty good! However, I can’t really comment on their food. My friend and I shared the apple cake and it wasn’t really sweet and we weren’t able to finish it. I also got a cup of fries, but they were okay and nothing to rave about. Even so, there was just something about this place that I really liked. It might be more crowded on the weekends, but I’d say it’s definitely a great place to grab a drink with a friend and talk. I’ll be back!

Heads-up: Happy Hour only applies to food here, so if you’re looking for cheap drinks, this ain’t the place. But, on that note, the happy hour food prices are unbeatable for fabulous small dishes.(around $ 2 or $ 3 for a plate of falafel balls, salmon plank, or halloumi cheese with fig jam = AWESOME) Specialty drinks are the bomb if you don’t mind dropping $ 10+ on them. Walls are covered with great old-timey murals and the wait staff is fantastic.

Not cheap, but the drinks are great. I’m not usually a mixed drink person, but their gin and«tonic» was great. The tonic was a home made mix that doesn’t come from a gun; highly recommended. Ask the bartenders, more than willing to give suggestions and samples.

Cocktails are not cheap here but do you ever get your money’s worth in booze! They have lots of fun specialty cocktails! My boyfriend’s favorite is the Bitter Old Coot which is essentially a giant glass of straight alcohol — you have been warned — and speaking of which the drink actually comes with instructions from the server on how to drink it! :-) The big gin and house tonic is usually my go-to but I also like the Ryan Gosling and the Mable. The mug of fries literally comes in a coffee mug. I love the house lumpia and the mac and cheese with pulled pork(don’t get it without the pulled pork — trust me on this). The atmosphere is kind of jazz bar meets grandiose speak-easy. They do have live music some nights but I’ve yet to sit in for one of these.

I came here with a group of girls for a friend’s bachelorette party. I had never been but was immediately impressed; dark lighting, cool décor with a laid back vibe. They even had a fun corner area that allowed for larger groups — decorated with pillows and mirrors(unfortunately, it was closed when we went). I ordered the Baby Doll — which was really good(the lavender in it was perfect) — and their house-made cinnamon whiskey. We ordered a couple of mugs of fries that were pretty tasty with the aioli but stuck to mostly drinks. I had a good time here and it got pretty crowded by the time we left. ***This is a(real) BAR bar though… so don’t go asking for anything weird that you can order at Applebee’s(ie. Pink Starbursts and White Gummy Bear shots) because they won’t have the ingredients to make them… …Too bad because that was all that the bride-to-be could drink… Luckily, the bartender was able to improvise and we made it work! I’d definitely go back :-)

I’m a fan of this place. I love the grandiose atmosphere here and the cocktails are what keep me coming back. We came here a few weeks ago to meet some friends. Parking sucks in Fremont during the weekends but I was able to find a spot a block away. Asking the bartender what he’d recommend that’s citrusy and spicy he recommended the Redemption(I think that’s the name). GHOSTCHILIES! It was perfect! Spicy, gin, and lemon. It was my idea of a perfect drink. The food is pretty good, I remember we ordered two mug of fries, but the rest … yeah good luck pulling that one out of my head. Drinks aren’t cheap here but they are worth it and the friendly sassy service.

I thought I had for sure written a review about Backdoor at Roxy’s! I’ve been here enough times to know what I’m talking about. But apparently, I am mistaken… This pseudo speakeasy is THE classy cocktail bar in Fremont. Although I’ve had the food a handful of times, the drinks are really the highlight of this place. I always start with the Ryan Gosling(Rye and Gosling’s Rum. Clever, no?) and then make my way into another of their whiskey concoctions. I like the Modern and the Bitter Old Coot. They also have a few imitation cocktails from around the Fremont area. So if you want a brief(albeit incomplete) tour of the cocktails that Fremont has to offer, this Backdoor is an excellent choice. From a nightcap standpoint, this is a great bar. Dinner… meh. I haven’t ordered food here for a while, but there’s a good reason for that. Looking at the food menu online, it appears that the prices have gotten more reasonable and the menu has changed since I last ordered food, so maybe I’ll give it another shot. I do miss the free popcorn they used to have. That was always a nice salty treat to keep you thirsty and ordering more drinks. Ordering small bites while you’re drinking isn’t completely unreasonable if you’re feeling peckish. The service is always good, although I’m usually there when it’s not very crowded, so take that with a grain of salt. The décor is pretty cool too. It feels very«Gatsby». 1920s Ornate with painted pictures of prohibition-era revelry. The speakeasy theme is something that’s done in numerous locations in Seattle, and I think someplace like Knee High or Needle and Thread do a slightly better job of committing to that theme, but Backdoor is still a nice spot. It’s not well labeled on the outside, so there’s that. Protip: Do not park on the side streets off of 36th(IE Dayton) unless you have the proper zone permit. Parking cops check that area all the time and you will almost always get a ticket!

Not too badly priced, kind of fun hidden location, can accommodate big parties or little parties, and is a great place to stop on your bar hopping journey or perhaps to start at. A few of us got the whiskey flight which were amazing, love getting flights of anything. Always fun to try different age things. Or samplers. they have their own parking lot and street parking isn’t too bad around there either.

I definitely have a «thing» for speakeasy’s! Maybe because back in the day during prohibition it would have been so naughty to come here! Or maybe just because they have crafty cocktails and cool décor. This is like my 5th speakeasy & I really like it. Hidden in Fremont, you’d never know it was here. Following the directions to the back door. Hard to believe with all the times I’ve been bar hopping in Fremont, nobody introduced me to it? Good drinks & yummy bar food. We tried some Philippino food & American fries, both delish! Severs & bartenders were real nice, they even redid my drink for me without me asking. Prices are reasonable & they have happy hour. Parking is street parking and is somewhat easy to find(just read all the signs). Love the murals on the wall & the bar just looks super fab!

A friend’s birthday party led me to this little place one night. They are only open for nine hours out of the day(5PM to 2AM). Parking is free if you’re a customer and ask for a parking token to deposit in the payment box, but otherwise it’s five dollars for two hours. The place isn’t very big, so it might be a good idea to make a reservation beforehand if you know you’re coming with a large party. Otherwise, you may have to be split up, stand, or wait. I didn’t try any of their drinks because I had to drive that evening, but their food was ordinary. I ordered the backdoor burger for ten dollars. It’s amazing how this came out in ten minutes despite the place being full. The burger was good and came with fries, but it’s nothing I haven’t had before. I’m also not sure why they charged an extra dollar for Swiss cheese; that has always seemed like a normal part of a burger to me. At least during the hours I was there, the place was crowded and moderately(and thankfully not excessively) loud from the music and chatter of people. The bartenders seemed skilled and experienced, though I’ll never know what their drinks are like. There was no problem with service, but this place just doesn’t stand out to me.

This place is quintessentially Fremont. Loved it. Solid atmosphere, great bourbon selection, excellent service from Jayson at the bar and decent food: Halumi Goat Cheese, Beef Brisket Plate and Crab Cakes were all good but nothing mind blowing. 3 stars for food. 4 stars for atmosphere and service. Rounding up to 4 stars since I’d come back.
