So my girlfriend mused about wanting a Spanish style meal(Tapas, paella, etc) and enjoying it outside with friends. So a month later when her birthday was coming up, I was determined to find a way to make that happen. That’s how I found that there are few good options for that cuisine, especially with outdoor seating. Then I found Terra Plata and, low and behold, they have a roof top patio! So I made the reservation for, 11 people, and when confirming everything they asked if this was for any occasion and I mentioned it was for my girlfriends birthday, assuming this was just to direct people to our party. Well they went above and beyond in a number of ways and really did everything in their power to make the night special for her. I could not be more grateful for their care, personal touch and extra little effort for her Birthday. The server we had also was a good sport and a lot of fun each time he stopped by to see how were were doing! On a less personal note, the food was also GREAT. When you have a large party like we did, they do things«Family Style», but Paella night(Mondays) is already kind of like that anyway. We got a few tapas which were all done just right. Blistered Chilies, one of my favorite drinking tapas. They were crisp, flavorful fresh chilies, and cooked just right. And the Shrimp Ceviche was really flavorful, with a very complimentary cabbage slaw and, I am pretty sure, house made chips that were some of the best chips I have had with any ceviche. Then came the Paella… Holy smokes was that yummy. We ordered the mixto which comes with both seafood and Spanish chorizo and some chicken. The rice was done perfectly, the seafood fresh and the Spanish chorizo added the perfect little crisp flavor bits! This was honestly my best all-around restaurant experiences since moving to Seattle 2 years ago. Kudos to the host staff, our waiter(sorry I didn’t grab your name before we left) and the kitchen folk, for making our dinner super tasty and our experience exactly what I hoped for.

Yum! Delicious drinks. Interesting wine menu. Beets appetizer was delicious. Albacore crudo(while small) was outstanding and flavor made up for the size. And the upstairs outside patio was a lovely treat on a beautiful Seattle summer night!

Very nice service, friendly and helpful. The food was really good, especially the marrow, peppers, and cheese plate. I’m bummed I just didn’t like my dish, the pork with clams and chorizo. The chorizo was over powering and made the whole dish taste weird. I thought I would take it home and cook it with eggs the next day, but unfortunately the way it was packaged let it drip through the paper container, the paper bag, and all over me, the floor and the car. I finally figured it out when the dog was licking the floor and I realized I was dripping pork chorizo clam sauce everywhere. Total bummer. Still, food was good.

Specifically came here on Monday for their paella! And it was delicious! My only complaint would be it seemed like it needed more cooking since ours seemed watery and the rice a teensy bit too hard. Atmosphere and service is wonderful despite how busy it gets. Make reservations ahead of time!

Went here with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. Ask for the rooftop on a nice day. Wine list was excellent with a wide variety of options. Plates are perfect for sharing and nice cheese plate to start with

Wow who knew there were also rooftop bars in Seattle? Well«rooftop» deck, really, as it isn’t higher than 2 floors lol. Came here for drinks after dining at Statside across the street. We got seated next to the fireplace which was awesome. Can’t vouch for their food, but their old fashioneds were strong, just the way I like it.

This time we had food but the experience was the same as below. Slow, extremely slow service(10 – 30 minutes to get a drink). Dinner was good my favorite was the halibut. Everything else was just average.

Came here on a perfect day for rooftop brunch. Place was set up like heaven and we got seated right away. Server was awesome too… 8 girls were easily sold with two bottles of champagne.

Pros: This is a decent place for lunch, especially if you have a large group, they have some nice long tables that can accommodate it. Good vibes. The menu selection is pretty good. There’s something for everyone. The appetizers are good for sharing. Love the blistered shishito peppers and the mussels & claims! Cons: Service is SO slow, and not the friendliest. It’s always a long lunch even when the place is not packed. The drinks are hit and miss. Seattle Raindrop was tasty and interesting. The Kombucha cocktail was downright bad — sour as vinegar and flat as water.

On the second Wednesday in January, while I had about a 3-hour gap between medical appointments on Pill Hill, I met a friend who works in the area to have a proper meal(and not just dessert!) for the first time at Terra Plata. I was pretty starved, so I chowed down through the Water Buffalo burger(taleggio, tomato, pickles, aioli, seasonal greens & served with house-made potato chips). A bit messy, but oh so worth it! With a glass of a full-bodied red ;) I even ordered the dessert macaron plate(which with 5 assorted macs for $ 9 was a good deal, and they were really good too!!) but ended up taking most of it home. The macaron flavors vary and be prepared that they don’t necessarily sandwich«like» flavors together, but every macaron I had was extremely tasty so I’m definitely a fan. The flavors I got were: 1 apple cinnamon/pistachio combo and 2 pomegranate/orange combo sandwiched with a pink buttercream(unsure of buttercream flavor) and 2 chocolates sandwiched with a french vanilla buttercream. Craving dessert just thinking about them now! :) Can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu!

Good brunch. Quality ingredients. Unique flavors. Good service. RESERVATIONS: Made a couple days in advance for the Sunday of President’s Day Weekend at 9am. They weren’t too busy so you probably don’t need reservations right when they open. COST: $ 49.32 before tip for 2 small plates &2 brunch plates, plus an OJ. Reasonable. * House made chips(off-menu. $ 9) — 3 stars Decent for the charred crisp and thick dip, but not worth $ 9! SWEETS * Churros(spiced chocolate sauce, whipped cream, caramel. $ 9) — 4 stars Nice! A very satisfying thick crunch to the churros. The best part is the very dark chocolate sauce. BRUNCH * Semolina gnocchi(poached eggs, sauteed greens, chile, crushed tomatoes, oregano, pecorino. $ 14) — 4 stars Our server’s favorite brunch dish. Light and tasty, unique gnocchi like lightly fried gritty squares. Nicely done. * Green chili pork(hominy, tomatillo, jalapeño, poblano, feta, arepas. $ 15, plus $ 2 for the egg) — 4 stars Really great, a very rich dish. My fave part were the arepas. The green sauce was a bit tart for me and a few bites was enough, but my bf really liked this.

What an amazing place with amazingly good food! Had an early dinner reservation at 5:15pm on a Thursday(b/c that was the only reservation spot available) and we stayed for hours enjoying good food and company. They open their doors at 5pm for dinner, so it’s pretty calm if you have an early reservation, but the place starts getting packed after 6pm. The dishes are all meant to be shared and they emphasize on local, fresh ingredients … and everything was sooo good. We had: + Hand Cut Frites($ 9) — simple fries with dashes of paprika but they were super addicting! We had to order two for a party of 3! haha + Beets Salad($ 13) — fresh and large cuts of beets. They don’t skimp on their ingredients… even if it’s a salad :) + Cappelletti($ 15) — pillowy and creamy. Really great for a bite for everyone at your table + Duck Breast($ 32) — SOTENDER and juicy! This was probably my favorite dish of the night! If I wasn’t sharing, I’d probably order this dish just for myself. A must try! + Roast Pig($ 30) — great to share! The chicharron is spicy so avoid if you’re a spicy wimp like me. The roasted pig was tender and soaked in all its juice and fat. The potatoes were hearty & I like that it soaked up all the juices too. This meal was on the higher end of the $$$-mark, but so well worth it! It’s definitely a must try for out-of-towners or locals wanting a special meal in Capitol Hill. If you’re experiencing food coma after dinner, the Starbucks Roastery & Tasting Room is one building over! :)

This review may be biased because I had the best brussels sprouts ever here. So great I forgot to take a picture. So great that I am willing to overlook things probably. Came here with a large group for lunch on a weekday. We ordered the charcuterie plate, the shishito peppers, and the house made potato chips with dip for starters. Everything was delicious and spicy lovers especially loved the peppers. I ordered the brussels sprouts and chicken noodle soup for my entrée as I was recovering from a cold. The brussels sprouts ended up being shared with everyone at the table because of how delicious they were. People couldn’t resist. The chicken noodle soup uniquely included a poached egg and lemon zest. I didn’t particularly like the new additions and the soup was average soup but I didn’t except anything more with chicken noodle soup. Overall really liked the atmosphere of this place. I hear it’s great during the summer with rooftop seating so I will definitely try to check that out when summer rolls around. Tldr; Order the brussels sprouts!

I came to Terra Plata for dinner tonight after numerous rave reviews from friends; it’s a tapas style restaurant serving American-ish food(not Spanish). I had a pretty amazing dinner last night at Stateside, so Terra Plata was a bit disappointing for me food and drink wise. Highlights from Unilocal I’ll agree with: — Slow service, beautiful ambiance. — Rooftop is where it’s at; apparently good for brunch/lunch but I visited for dinner. — Hit or miss food. Food Ratings from Best to Worst: — Chocolate Ganache — 4 stars: Decadent, rich slice of chocolate cake. You have to be in the mood for it, but good. Worth getting dessert? Hm, probably not. — Brussels Sprouts– 3.5 stars: +Pancetta and balsamic? A winning, tried and true combo. A little too much glazed balsamic but overall a winner. — Wagyu ribeye — 3.5 stars: Standard, undifferentiated, but good ribeye. Didn’t taste like wagyu but of everything I tasted I would order this one again for dinner. — Potato chips — 3.5 stars: Huge portion, seemed like it was sitting out too long. Loved the creamy truffle cheese dip. — De’lille Cab/Syrah — 3 stars: $ 19 for a glass of cab that was just ok. — Ginger cocktail(name?) — 3 stars: Very tart, standard. Liked the cocktails at Stateside more. — Columbia city bread — 2 stars: I just do not like columbia city bread, way too chewy and hard. — Churros — 2 stars: Nice and airy for a churro but tasted like old refried oil to me, and the caramel dipping sauce was way too sweet. — Roast Pig — 1 star: Incredibly dry and overcooked. The best part was the chicarron.

Since Mamnoon was going to take so long, we ended up here and sat at the high table near the windows. We ordered the fried fava beans, roasted cauliflower, squash soup and french fries. The fava beans were interesting: great flavors, but they must have been baby ones because we were instructed to eat them like edamame, which was a pain in the ass. The fava bean must have been the size of a mung bean, which meant you were left chewing on a skin with very little return. Food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t quite as good as I thought it would be.

This is a new earth to table concept that has really a great menu and one of the best building designs that I’ve seen in sometime. The building is one of the older spaces in Capital hill, two story and shaped like a triangle. The main floor has large sliding glass doors on one side with gorgeous woodwork throughout and a wonderful use of space. Upstairs is a spacious patio with heating and short fire wall surrounded by a working garden, very cool. Tonight I tried the blistered poblano peppers, cheese plate; delightful local cheeses, gouda, goat and bleu, Wagyu rib eye and wild salmon. Entrees perfectly paired with greens and whipped potatoes. My only note was the salmon was overcooked a bit. Now dessert was off the hook, churros with chocolate ganache! Service was attentive though the entrée fire time was a little off. It was about 40 min from starters to entrees. Really not an issue I was in no hurry. I look forward to coming back soon and try more.

Food was mostly great. However, the wait for our food was insane given the dishes we ordered required little cooking. We had charcuterie which is a few types of pâté-like things and pickled garnish, heirloom tomato and burrata as well as albacore crudo(raw albacore). Churro for dessert. These dishes mostly require assembly rather than cooking. We walked in at 5:06 pm. The place was almost empty. Made our dinner selections within the next 10 min. Managed to get out of the place only after 6:30. Waited 45 min for the first dish, charcuterie starter plate! The rooftop and the fact that the charcuterie and albacore were actually delicious save this place. Food preparation time is unacceptable.

I came here for my friend’s bday dinner on a Sunday night. Overall, food was just okay. Most people got the water buffalo burger, which I heard was too salty. A few people in our group got the fries, which they enjoyed, but for $ 9, I wouldn’t think it’s worth it. I split the mussels with my friend and we liked it! The mussels were nice and plump, flavor was good, and there was also lots of peas on the bottom for a more balanced diet: P Lastly, half portion was enough for a light meal on a warm summer’s night on the rooftop. Cons: — Cap Hill street parking — Pretty slow service, and we were told to be patient… Pros: — Love the rooftop dining! — They take reservations. — No auto gratuity! We had a group of 12 and tip wasn’t added to our checks. How nice. — They allowed for separate checks! Makes paying for group dining a lot more convenient. — Complimentary bread with our mussels even though there’s bread on the apps menu for $ 3! Yes, I appreciate even the little freebies :) just have to ask.

No AC on a hot day… Really? For all the money we are spending you can’t get AC? The hostess was very friendly and gave us whatever table we chose. The server was also great. No issues; prompt, friendly, polite, etc. The food is the biggest problem. It’s sad. This whole earth to table thing is way overdone at this place. The food still needs to be properly prepared! I’m starting to think Capitol Hill folks just don’t really know good food. Perhaps the hipster movement has overtaken the actual palettes of everyone here. Anyway, I say skip. Really, don’t come here
