Ambiance was very nice, very small little area but love that there is a speakeasy in Seattle. Was seated immediately from the lady in the front. It’s easy to miss the turn here as it is disguised as a house. I give it 4 star due to the pricey drinks but enjoyed the area and would go again.

Came here on a Sunday night with some friends before we went home the next day(back to CA) and we had a great time! The bartender was very friendly and I love the vibe of the place. He made me a drink based on what I liked(darks) and I loved it!

This place is small, quiet, and classy. There is a sign that says«do not take anyone here you can’t bring to grandmas Sunday dinner». They expect you to keep your voice at a nice respectable level and be responsible with your drinks. The ambiance and feel is very unique like a real hidden speakeasy. It is dim lit with candles and quaint. I would recommend visiting once but personally, am not compelled to return. With the price and portion of the food menu, I would prefer to go to a swankier place. The drink prices however, are comparable to other bars. The drinks are good and strong and they have absinthe. It is a great place to catch up with a few friends without interruption.

The waitress at the door was rude. She asked us to hangout at the door indefinitely till a table clears up. When we asked her how much the wait time would be, she got mad us. We rather go to a place where we are treated with respect.

This is my go-to spot for a cool, relaxed date night. The appetizers are delicious, and the drinks are gorgeous and perfectly crafted. And I always feel so mysterious when I’m here because you have to ring the bell to get in! This place feels effortlessly cool.

Quaint little speakeasy. It is best that you have reservations and make sure to be on time. You wouldn’t know that it was someplace that you could actually go into if you didn’t know that it was there, as it is hidden from your typical bar. The drinks were very good and the waiter was friendly. Overall, it was good experience. PRO: Hidden location

This is a hidden gem. I visited Seattle for the first time and was referred to this place and it did not disappoint. Tucked away speakeasy vibe. They were playing old nineties hip hop when I was there which was great. Dark lighting made for a nice romantic atmosphere. The cocktail list was creative and tasty just like the light bites. Great staff!

This is a cocktail bar. The biggest draw is probably its obscurity. You wouldn’t know where it is even you are standing right in the front of it. There is this wedge shape building at the intersection of Olive and E. Olive. At the sharp tip of the wedge is this single door. On the side of the door is a plague that designates the place. Yep, open the door and go in. They used to make you ring the door bell. Not anymore. As cocktails goes, it is excellent. I had a «respect to the old timer» or something like that. It was greatly tasty. The problem is in the food section. I enjoyed(demanded) good munchies with my drinks, something will snack to a meal. But they are not really that. You are here to drink and chat with friends. That’s pretty much it.

Amazingly hidden speakeasy! Had to ring a doorbell for them to come and get you at the door. You can, of course, just barge in without ringing the doorbell like I did because I forgot to ring the doorbell. However, the doorbell is all part of the experience. You should wait and ring the doorbell. Great selection of drinks and cool vibe for friends and dates. We were positioned near the bartender so I could observe them make drinks. They put in love and effort into their alchemy and really went into painstaking lengths to make sure each drink is perfect. I was extremely impressed. The flavors did not disappoint.

Knee High Stocking Co. is a cozy little speakeasy on Olive Way. Blink and you will most definitely miss it. Pretty sure I’ve walked/driven by this place hundreds of times, but the lack of signage keeps it hidden away. The space is small and dark, but damn, they make some fantastic cocktails. My bourbon renewal was refreshing, and service was really good. I also snuck a taste of Professor Watson and Preakness. Downstairs, there’s a separate bar and the perfect space to host a small intimate party. Pro tip: You don’t need to ring the doorbell on weeknights.

This might be my favorite speakeasy in Seattle! The location can be tricky for nearby parking but it’s not a reason to not come. Or opt to take an über or lyft instead. The cocktails are made with care and precision, and really taste great. The drinks are smooth yet flavorful. They use a variety of nice alcohol and don’t expect to order anything that ends with a bomb here. Save that for the dive bars. Their tots are amazing and have a nice kick to them! They recently added a basement area with an additional bar and a huge seating area for up to 30. Always make a reservation if you’re bringing a huge group! I was able to grab spots for 15 people a month in advance. Such a great spot to catch up with friends over unique cocktails.

I’ve always been wanting to try this place but the place has always been packed on weekends and Friday nights without reservations. Popped into this place on Tuesday night around 8 pm and there were literally only 4 other people there. The inside is extremely cozy, and when I mean cozy, that’s a polite way of saying it’s the smallest space I’ve ever seen. Smaller than a studio apartment, I’d say 300 square feet max. The drinks were definitely on par and very tasty. I got the buffalo bison? I can’t recall the name exactly but it was their twist of a bourbon sour — my favorite go to drink. Great service, great dimly lit environment characteristic of a speakeasy, and great rustic feel.

This is yet another speakeasy, a little way away from the cap hill crowd. I’ve been here a couple of times, but somehow have always been unimpressed, specially after hearing /reading rave reviews of this place. Make sure you make a reservation(by text only) since it fills up really fast. The entrance is a non-descriptive door where you ring a doorbell to gain entry. When I went on weekends, there’s always been a crowd outside the door, defeating its purpose. Also, parking is harder in this area, since many of the streets around it are zoned parking. I’ve seen parking enforcement prowling the street in that area many times on weekend nights after 10, so be specially careful. As you enter through the door(and curtain), there is a small-ish area with about six tables and a reasonably large bar. The area is nicely decorated with frames and dark lighting, very speakeasy-ish. They have a lower level which is slightly bigger, and much better in terms of seating and décor. I’d recommend asking for a table on that level if they can accommodate you. Their area is pretty small, so it’s good for small groups. The cocktails are solid and pack a punch. Try the kentucky bite if you like old fashioned. For food, the tater tots are killer, but the other appetizers were just okay. The service seems a little snotty and slow. I can understand slow since it’s almost always crowded, but it does not give a friendly feel, but rather a cold vibe. The prices are on the higher side, but that’s expected for a place like this. Basically, it’s a good place, no doubt. But I don’t think it delivers what it promises, and feels a little pretentious with their not-so-warm service. I would recommend you to try it at least once, if you haven’t already, and see for yourself if you enjoy it. Don’t go with too many expectations, and you’ll have a good time, but it might be a let down otherwise.

Cutest place EVER! Totally hidden, you have to ring a doorbell and be on the list, but when I went for New Years they were very accommodating and let us in even though we weren’t on the list… clearly from out of town . Its very dim lit(which I like) Very intimate and I feel like I am in a classy old school show sipping absinthe(total AHS: hotel vibe) For me at least. Such fun drinks served in fun glasses depending on what you get. I approve! :)

I had a great experience here. Our waiter was very friendly and we sat down right away even though we hadn’t called in advance like you are supposed to. It has a very cool and subdued atmosphere. We tried the bread pudding which was delicious and comes with really good vanilla ice cream. My drink was great as well! I had the stockings down I think it was called, although it looks like they have seasonal drink menus. Strong yet subtly sweet. Since it was a weeknight it wasn’t very busy but I can imagine it filling up quickly on the weekend.

Wanted to experience a speakeasy and had really high hopes after reading so many reviews but they fell short. Definitely make a reservation through text if you plan on coming here. I made mine a week before and it was fine. They don’t respond right away but were able to accommodate me for Saturday night. My friends and I had trouble finding street parking and even showed up a few minutes late and they were very understanding. It looks like a regular triangle shaped house, gotta ring the door bell in the front to enter. The place is really dimly lit, a few parties going on and we felt very underdressed. There’s one bartender behind the bar but there’s tables on the first floor and basement. It took the waitress a long time to come by to take our orders but she was super friendly. I don’t remember which drink i ordered, but it was very strong. It took a while for our drink to come too. I’ve heard many good things about their food, but sadly didn’t get a chance to try them. I think we gave up after the first round of drinks despite how good the service was.

This bar is located in Capitol Hill and definitely a must see if you want to feel like you’re taken to an old era speak easy. We had to ring the doorbell for entry, which I had never done before, and we were greeted into a dimly lit, intimate setting. We sat at the bar and I had the most delicious cocktail with gin and St German. The service was spectacular. My boyfriend wasn’t sure what to get, so the bartender offered to make him something unique, tailored to his taste preference. It was awesome and very spot on to what he liked to drink. Another plus was that it was on the house! That was extremely generous and definitely not something that happens often. I’ll definitely be back here!

I think our bartender was pretty new so she might have been overwhelmed, but it showed and didn’t give off a good vibe. The experience was awkward since we were sitting at the bar and the bartender really did not pay attention to us. They also have a newly constructed bar area downstairs and the bartender and server were debating to put us downstairs, but that would have been a lot worse since no one was down there and it didn’t even seem ready for guests.

Large groups at speakeasies? That seems counterintuitive. Yet, everything about my latest experience in Seattle seemed to buck the trend, and Knee High Stocking was no different. I was reuniting with a group of college classmates who are all current Seattle residents, and they recommended going to Knee High. I was a little reluctant, after scoping it out on Unilocal, and seeing the more speakeasy-type vibe, but they assured me that there would be plenty of space for the 11 of us. Living in NYC for 5 years, I was completely bewildered at this notion. How was this at all possible? The place is in a very unassuming, uphill, triangle-shaped building, and the tip of the triangle is the entrance. We had a reservation at midnight, so we kinda milled around after dinner in the area, before finally making our way over. The place was deceptively large, as mentioned earlier, and before we knew it, the hostess led us to the newly renovated downstairs lounge, which was really cool. She told us that not many people had been down there yet, so it was nice to try something new. I went with the spicy gin fizz and the storm fizz(black rum, ginger syrup, bitters, lime juice, egg white, soda water) and even though we had stuffed ourselves at dinner, my buddy ordered the tater tots and the flaming goat cheese appetizer, which came with bread and sliced apples. The waitress came, expertly poured the brandy on top of the already-baked goat cheese, and then lit it all on fire. I can’t say whether or not the flavor was enhanced by the fire, but it was definitely a cool sight to see. My fizzes were pretty darn good and expertly-made, so I was very happy with everything. The lounge area made it really easy for us to talk, and gave us a pretty good environment to catch up on life and all that jazz. The service was really attentive, and took note of our special requests, which was definitely appreciated. I can see this being a good place for smaller groups, as well as dates. It’s always interesting to see a cozy vibe in a speakeasy, but with an actual large physical space. I like how even though they have a speakeasy-like vibe, there really isn’t much mystery surrounding the place, which is a strange catch-22 of sorts, yet made being there oddly comforting. It was nice not having to worry about logistics, or anything else besides having a good time. I’ll be back to try all they have to offer, and relish the fact that I can do so without long wait times or being overcrowded.

I ordered the Old Cuban and liked it very much but it didn’t leave a memory mark on me since for some reason I can’t remember what it tasted like. It was my first drink of the night and it was pretty strong. Gratuity is included for parties of 5 or more. My single drink cost $ 16. Whoa. Just a tourist so it was a nice place to try at least once especially because it’s a speak easy. I was shocked when they had a custom drink on the menu from the speak easy in my hometown, San Diego! How awesome! Must try it at home now.

There are so many worthy cocktail bars in Capitol Hill. And I was only here for 5 days before flying home to Chicago. Anyway, Knee High Stocking Co. is well worth a visit and navigating the reservation system. The speakeasy-style bar is not nearly as cumbersome as others have stated. First, they do not accept reservations via OpenTable, some other app, or telephone call. You must send a text message(the number is on their website — it’s no secret). Second, you will not receive an immediate response. Patience, pet. About 1 – 2 days later, I received a text message confirming my reservation. Making a reservation is absolutely worth it. See? Easy! I made a reservation for 2 on a Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. When we arrived, we rang the bell to enter the«secret» door on the corner. It isn’t tough to find, but the signage is very discreet. We were seated immediately at the bar, and I noticed all of the tables were occupied. While this bar does pack in the people, we had enough room to relax at the bar. The service is the five star treatment. The bartender was approachable and knowledgeable when my husband asked for a recommendation. The Razmajazz(crème peche, rosewater, champagne) was fantastic. The cocktails are strong, but don’t taste like a mouthful of straight booze. Knee High Stocking Co is a mixology bar, and they’re doing it quite well. The Old Cuban is a twist on a mojito; it’s light and again, well made. Hungry? We came for the drinks but decided to share some of the Flaming Goat Cheese. Goes well with cocktails :) Drinks are $ 10 – 12 each and worth every penny.

I am intrigued by unmarked bars and lounges and so I was compelled to visit Knee High Stocking Co. during my visit to Seattle. It’s so fun to approach a door unknowing if it’s the right one or what wonders will lie behind it. In this case, I am thankful that a group of folks were there ahead of me. They took care of either ringing the doorbell or knocking, waiting, and then getting ushered inside. The group was seated quickly(I think they had a reservation) and I was asked to wait in the area between the heavy drapery and the door. It was a Friday evening and it was clear that Knee High Stocking takes their reservations seriously. The hostess sat me at a small table but politely explained that I would have to leave by a certain time because of a reservation. Soon after I placed my order a seat opened at the bar and I volunteered to move there. My drink was a Mezcal Old Fashioned for $ 11. I think it was absolutely delicious; however, I’m on a serious mezcal kick and I understand that it’s smokey goodness isn’t for everybody. Knee High Stocking did a fabulous job of maintaining the integrity of the Old Fashioned cocktail(mature, demurely sweet, with citrus notes) but introduced the surprising smokiness of mezcal. It was a very strong drink but well-balanced. I thought it was definitely worth $ 11. I enjoyed watching the bar tender work. He was serious about his craft and his deft movements entranced me — especially when he applied the flame of the lighter to orange or lemon peels. I can excuse him for not being chatty — not even a little bit. Likewise, the servers seemed very busy also but they weren’t aloof or rude or anything. They were maneuvering in a dim, cramped space and attending to the needs of many guests. Friendly banter would definitely have been overheard by others and might have been perceived as needlessly indulgent by nearby tables who required attention.
