They are now closed so I will never know if their food was any good!

I had high hopes for this place. It’s nearby, cheap and touts wordly comfort food. Can’t really screw up comfort food can you? Well I wouldn’t say they screwed it up but it’s not all that appetizing either and the portions leave something to be desired. Anyone who’s eaten regularly in a cafeteria will feel at home here, that’s the best compairsonI can think of.

I enjoyed it. My boyfriend and I picked up dinner from there last night. First, the bad: It’s definately warming food tray, and likely has been there for a while. At 4:50p the food was a littler drier than it should have been but still tasty. I got the Italian sausage and it had an odd texture. The Moroccan veggies were mush by that point. The potatoes we both got and the chili were delicious. The good: Flavors were nice(see warming food tray comment). They offered reusable containers for $ 2 that, after nine uses, result in a free meal. The environmentalist in me loves that. It’s fast; since the food is all complete we could just run in, grab it, and leave. I don’t understand why people are commenting on that it doesn’t come with a drink. I’ve never seen a restaurant where a drink is included in the price of the food, and I never expect to(except for a prix fixe menu). We’ll likely be returning, if for no other reason than it’s quick, cheap and between where the bus drops me off and home.

The owner is actually very personable. He’s very proud of his offerings and I have to give him credit for that. Everything is laid out buffet style and there’s a pretty wide selection to choose from. I had the Salisbury Steak, Mashed potatoes, and Egyptian Okra/Tomato. The steak was okay, the potatoes were good, but I wasn’t as enthused about the okra. The portions are okay, but smallish. It’s definitely a takeout place as there isn’t much seating. I wasn’t that impressed with the food, neither was my husband. Maybe it was because we showed up towards the end of the evening on a whim? I think we’ll pass in the future, unless we have the opportunity to go right when they open. But total bonus for the owner being such a chatty guy! He’s definitely good people:)

My family and I ate there for the first time tonight and really liked it. The portion was plenty large enough for me as I had some leftover and am looking forward to finishing the roasted potatoes and BBQ pork tomorrow. It’s the same price as take out just about anywhere and taste’s much better than any other takeout. You feel like you’re eating a meal rather than just grabbing some junk food. The chef is a friendly guy who entertains you as he serves. My family will eat there again.

Pretty good deal, and the portions are adequate. Most everything I’ve tried has been OK, but nothing stood out as a must-have item. The beef bourginon and chicken curry were tasty, the meatballs were a little heavy on the anise seed for my liking, the cous cous and casava were well done, just make sure you stay away from the stir-fry veggies or get them while they’re fresh — mine were soggy and flavorless.

Is it a square meal? Well, I decided to give them my patronage last night. Here’s the lowdown: The food is laid out buffet style(though it is served by an employee, not yourself), and you choose a meat entrée and two sides for $ 7.99 plus tax. I ordered the coconut curry chicken, black beans and mashed potatoes. The chicken was pretty flavorful, the mashed potatoes were very bland and the black beans needed way more seasoning. The price is pretty decent(but note that it does not include a drink), the portions are average(big men will be left disappointed) and the service was cheery. It was kind of a square meal, but not a full one. But I applaud the effort and hopefully, this place will improve with time.

Pretty good… Came here for the first time today just to see what this place was all about. As the previous review said, you choose a meat dish, a side, and a veggie dish. Comes out to around 9 bucks after tax. I got the coconut curry chicken, golden couscous, and a Brazilian-style yuca dish. It was all very tasty. I was impressed with the couscous as it was pretty rich with flavor. The meal filled me up pretty well, not too heavy or light. There are many entrees and sides to choose from so the ratings can go a variety of ways, but you can mix and match anything. The facility is very small so you will need to take it to go, there is really one table and about 3 – 4 chairs to be able to eat in.

Comfort food from around the world. Good stuff. I met the Argentinian owner. Nice guy. He said they opened 3÷1÷09. His partner is French. They specialize in comfort food from Italy, Spain, Africa, Asia, etc. He said they’ll have BBQ’s on their front porch as special events. Their menu changes seasonally. You choose a meat dish and add two sides. Not much seating, so take out is probably preferred.
