It’ll do in a pinch. In my opinion it isn’t really pizza… It’s more like wood fired flat bread with toppings. Tasty toppings… but, not pizza.

Stopped by Serious Pie during a recent trip to Seattle. I gotta hand it to Tom Douglas and the crew. They dish out some serious deliciousness. If you’re a fan of pizza(stop reading if you aren’t), then you’ve got to try this place. My lady ordered the sweet fennel sausage, roasted peppers, provolone pizza, and I ordered the roasted seasonal mushrooms, truffle cheese pizza. We went halfies on each pizza so we can try them both. They’re pricey. At least $ 17 per pizza, but the proportions are decent. I liked the sausage/peppers/provolone pizza that my girlfriend ordered. The sausage is of elite quality. It was juicy and had a tremendous amount of flavor. The roasted peppers added a nice finishing touch. The mushroom/truffle cheese pizza that I ordered was delicious as well. I liked the sausage one more, but I’m a big fan of mushrooms so I had to get it. The crust on these pizzas had to be some of the best crusts I’ve ever had. Normally I don’t eat the crust, but on these, I wanted to. The consistency was perfect. Slightly crispy on the outside, a tad bit doughy on the inside, and a touch of sweetness to top it off. Our waitress was awesome. She was so friendly, and courteous enough to the point where she stopped by multiple times to check on us. We appreciated her work ethic and it made our visit that much more enjoyable. The only reason I’m not giving this place a full 5 stars is because of the seating arrangements. You share tables with other guests which I have absolutely no problem with. The problem I do have is the size of the tables. There isn’t much room especially if parties like to order a lot of food. I felt awkward having to say excuse me to the people sitting next to me because there wasn’t much room to get in and out of your chair(had to use the restroom a few times). If you can deal with the seating arragements, have at it. Obviously, stop by for the pizza. They’re amazing. Or should I say… seriously amazing.

Another Tom Douglas establishment on Virginia in Downtown Seattle. It’s a quaint and cozy pizza restaurant with large over-sized windows that looks out to Virginia Street(recommend sitting here if you can, especially at night). Tried the ‘soft eggs*, smoked prosciutto, pecorino sardo, arugula’ pizza. My goodness, it was really good. Another home run dish by Douglas. Cheese(sardo) was served not melted so with every bite I got a miracle of salty, bitter, and creamy. I respect that it’s not melted because I was able to appreciate and taste the cheese. The smoked prosciutto was smokey and savory and the soft eggs(under cooked eggs) sealed the experience. I found the arugula a bit much as there was too much of it. As such, every slice was slightly too bitter. Overall, it’s a solid pie. For dessert I tried the ‘chocolate budino, murray river salt, olive oil’ and it was superb. The budino was firm and bitter while the drizzle of olive oil and pinches of salt satisfied every sensory note. I highly recommend this dessert, if you have room after the pizza. On tap, they offer mostly local craft brews, which I appreciated. Service was prompt and professional.

Delicious pizza! I loved the atmosphere and their warm/kind service. We got«roasted seasonal mushrooms and truffle cheese» pizza and«buffalo mozzarella, tomato sauce and fresh basil» pizza and both were so yummy!!! This place is definitely one of my most favorite pizza places in Seattle!

The place is crammed and hot and you have to share tables with other people. Honestly, it’s not worth spending $ 20 for a pizza if you have to eat in those conditions. The pizza was ok, the toppings were scarce and there were not much of a selection to choose from. The service was great though.

A old-school atmosphere with a bunch of a large tables meant to be shared with other guests. There’s some squeezing and«excuse me’s» to get to your seat, and you may hear a few conversations that aren’t yours. Kale Salad This is probably one of the best Kale salads I’ve ever had. It’s lightly dressed and contains pine nuts that are THE perfect compliment. Highly recommended. Mushroom and Truffle Cheese This was popular on Unilocal, but I didn’t see what the hype was all about. I’m more of a meat supreme kinda fellow, where I like sausage, pepperoni, etc. all over my pizza. So maybe it was my fault for ordering mushroom.

Serious Pie does pizza well. I truly enjoy their communal tables, the crispiness of their crusts and the fresh ingredients. I took away one star because it is incredibly hard to get a table if you are just stopping by. The past 2 times I have tried to go there, the wait was too long and we ended up somewhere else. If you want to try it, expect to wait and get there early.

Quite possibly my favorite meal during our recent Seattle trip. The roommate and I were in the area and decided to check Serious Pie off my list of bookmarks. We walked in Tuesday, January 19th around 3:30pm. There were only a couple parties seated, so no wait at all. Completely by accident, we came by during Happy Hour. Smaller pies at $ 6 each?! I think this HH was made for me! I love variety. Their HH is 3pm-5pm, Monday-Friday. You get half-size pizzas at $ 6 each. And they offer ALL the pizzas from their regular menu in a happy hour size. The roommate and I decided to try 3 pizzas. *buffalo mozzarella, tomato sauce, fresh basil *roasted seasonal mushrooms, truffle cheese *soft eggs, smoked prosciutto, pecorino sardo, arugula The loved the thin crust on all the pizzas. The crust was soft with a nice chew, but thin enough to retain a slight crunch. Perfect delivery system for all the toppings! My favorite was the mozzarella and basil. Simple, yet delicious! The roommate ordered the prosciutto one and ate ¾ of it! I loved the freshness of the arugula and the creaminess of the egg yolk. I adore truffle, but I was a little hung over when eating, so I felt like the truffle overpowered the mushrooms. There was too much. Although, on a normal day, I most likely would have loved the truffle overload. Since I was a little delicate, I figured hair of the dog was a good cure. I got a glass of Zardetto prosecco nv: veneto($ 9.50). It was a generous pour, presented in a white wine glass. Nice and bubbly. After the first sip, I felt better. I had to resist the urge to order one of every pizza while we were at Serious Pie. It would have been so easy to justify with the HH prices. I’ll just have to come back to try the rest of their pies.

Mmm, Serious Pie is seriously good! My boyfriend and I came on a Saturday night around 9pm. It was a full house, but we were able to get seats within 10 minutes. We each got a bottle of Alesmith IPA from San Diego for $ 5 each. I usually really enjoy IPAs because of the dark flavor but this one was a bit too dark for me. Also, it did not go well with our pizzas. I know beer is filling, but it made us feel extra bloated and uncomfortable throughout the meal. So forget the beer… let’s get to the good stuff. Soft eggs, smoked prosciutto, pecorino sardo, arugula($ 18): I absolutely loooove the runny egg! Everything mixed together so nicely. The arugula left me feeling a little less guilty: P Sweet fennel sausage, roasted peppers, provolone($ 18): Mmm, thinking of the sweet sausage is making my mouth water. Really tasty! Their pizzas are thin crust. I personally enjoy thicker crust pizzas, but the flavors were all wonderful. One pizza each was the perfect meal portion, but for $ 18 each, prices are a bit up there. Go for Happy Hour(M-F 3−5pm) if you can! Service was excellent. Our server did her job and did it well and I really appreciate that.

I am visiting from Dallas and wanted to find some good ZZA and it just so happened that this place was walking distance from the Westin and I didn’t have an umbrella. Great food and outstanding service compliments of Sheila. The tables are family/friend style much like Europe, so if sitting near friendly strangers is scary, this will be a good place to take a chance! Very cozy with candlelight and warm vibe… good energy.

This place was really good. I’m not a fan of the not so private seating arrangements but what can you do in a such a small but popular place. NBD cause the pizza was amazeballs. We got the Mushroom and truffle cheese with added fennel sausage. It was really busy but we only waiting for about 10 minutes to be seated, smaller groups of people are probably best to be seated faster. It is a bit pricey but the ingredients were very fresh, literally quality that you can taste!

Is it bad that I really didn’t enjoy this place as much as I thought I would? Judging by the 4 stars and the high number of reviews, I expected mind-blowing pizza. But eh. I went with my sorority and I didn’t hear anyone go «this is so good!!» or something close to it. Perhaps I’m being too mean in this review. In my defense, my friend and I shared a pizza that we created(sweet sausage + truffle cheese). I don’t like mushroom so we swapped it out but it wasn’t that good. It’ll definitely be better for those of you who like mushrooms so go for the mushroom + truffle. What I really didn’t like about the pizza was that it was so hard for me to eat! The bottom isn’t solid and the toppings/sauce slide off when you pull the pizza. Forks and knives are required to eat it but even then, it’s annoying. Just not my type of pizza :(I’d go for a slice of NY pizza any day.

The food here is terrific, as is the case with most Tom Douglas(a Seattle restaurant pioneer) restaurants. If you’re going at a popular hour, make sure to plan some time. The waits can last up to an hour, but at least they’ll serve you some drinks while you wait. Everything’s made out of quality local ingredients in a wood-burning oven, especially the wood-fired pizzas. I love the Yukon Potato Pizza, but if morel mushrooms are in season, you should try that one. The truffle cheese is great as well. You can get a basic sausage and onion, but if you’re going to Serious Pie, I would recommend getting something a bit more adventurous. The Virginia Street location has a great atmosphere, but there are other locations that I haven’t been to yet. They also offer great pizza making classes, but you have to check their schedules and locations to see when/where they’re offering them. In the class, you learn how they make their dough and other ingredients, and then get to make your own pizza creation. I attended while I was in Seattle and would highly recommend doing it with a few friends. If you’ve ever wanted to toss a hand-made pizza like the pros, this is your chance! It comes complementary with a glass of wine to go with your pizza!

Impressive crust — crispy bottom with good chew right beneath the toppings. Ingredients are fresh and delectable. Service is alert and helpful. Hands down my favorite pizza in Seattle. A must eat. I’ve liked every pizza there except the potato pizza — starch on starch is not for me.

The last lunch in Seattle before heading home! We arrived around 1pm and there were plenty of seats open. The high bar tables are set up like communal space with about 6 – 8 chairs to a table, so there’s plenty of space to get some serious pie going. Started the meal with a Backwoods Brewing Winchester Brown from Carson, WA. I had a taster of the Terminal Gravity Brewing Breakfast Porter from Enterprise, OR, but the porter had a bitter aftertaste that didn’t sit well with me. I opted for the Brown instead for its smooth finish and chocolate toffee notes. For our selection of pies, we got two to share amongst the three of us, which ended up being the perfect amount. We were most interested in the one with soft eggs, smoked prosciutto, pecorino sardo and arugula. AWhen it came out, everything was hidden under a bundle of arugula, but the soft eggs were worth it! The second selection was a classic margherita style pizza — buffalo mozzarella, tomato sauce and fresh basil. It really gave me a great impression of their crust, which was doughy, crispy and thin. It’s not often I eat the crust, but this was so good not to! Definitely a place worth visiting if you’re in the area and they have a location in Pike Place as well!

Serious Pie was delicious! I really enjoyed the soft egg, prosciutto and arugula pizza. I went around 5 pm on a Sunday night, and there was no wait, which was a pleasant surprise. +Great size pizza, perfect to share for less-hungry peeps +Delicious soft egg addition to the pizza, I think that really added to the flavor of the dish –Pricey, around $ 19 for a whole pizza –Tiny place, so I can definitely see how there would be a wait at more popular hours –Limited menu, so it might not have something for everyone Would definitely recommend if in the area/visiting Seattle. Yum!

If you love pizza, then this is a place to try. Thin crust, wood fired oven, fresh ingredients! My husband and I decided to share a pie, worst decision of the night! After the first bite, I kept counting my pieces to make sure he didn’t sneak off with one. We had the sweet fennel seed sausage pie. So good! My love for Tom Douglas has only increased with actually eating at one of his restaurants. About 15 years ago, I purchased Tom Douglas’ first cookbook and would constantly crave those dishes. For some strange reason all my visits to Seattle never included his restaurants. Now I’ve bookmarked each one and looking forward to another meal at Serious Pie.

Serious pie, for sure. The pizza is seriously great. Hand made pizza that’s made in an oven with a bar atmosphere. If beer and pizza is your thing, it’s worth it. This place seems like the perfect place to go after work. Just unwind and relax. The crust has a nice crisp to it, but there was also a nice chewy center. This crust has a story to tell ya and it’s worth your time. I tried two pizzas, one with egg and one with mozzarella. Both were really tasty. I want the pizza right now. The atmosphere is more like a bar. An informal place that has a warm feel to it, but be prepared to sit next to strangers, it’s a tight squeeze. The restaurant can be on the noisy side. I would definitely come back here again.

This is my favorite Tom Douglas restaurant. Serious pie has bombdiggity pizza! I came here 2 nights in a row(out of my 4 day stay in Seattle) and got the margharita pizza. They cook their pies in a stone brick oven that leaves a wonderful crisp char on the crunch while not burning the bottom. The ingredients are super fresh and they use buffalo mozzarella cheese. I can’t put my finger on it but they must have some wagon wand because I’ve never had pizza that was strictly vegetarian style this good before. Every ingredient they use(even though it’s simple) enhances the pie to a whole new level. The wait time for your pizza is about 15 minutes and they leave it on the counter with your name on it if you get it to go. The inside is not as big as it seems since the mirrors on the wall give a false illusion. However, it’s very homey inside and great for a gathering amongst friends. Absolutely adore this place.

We slipped in on a late Saturday afternoon, at the start of a thunderstorm. Cozy location, perfect jazzy pizza eating music. We ordered the buffalo mozz pie, the heirloom tomato salad with bay shrimp(simple, fresh), and a glass of root beer on tap(not too sweet, more of a licorice flavor than most). Sharing a table with a family gave us an opportunity to see what others were ordering. Everything looked heavenly. The pizza was well seasoned, crunchy, chewy, and while it’s thin, it maintains it’s shape and doesn’t become floppy towards the center. Is it possible to fall in love with a city just because their pizza is so good? Also, I’ve heard the HH is pretty rad — $ 6 mini pizzas? YESSSS, please.

One of the best pizzas we’ve had! We got the buffalo mozzarella and the fennel sausage, and the sausage was definitely the winner! My only regret is not being able to try the mushroom or arugula pizza, but maybe we will return later on our trip or another visit. Two pizzas for me and my BF were perfect, we both left full and satisfied. The other couples next to us ordered one starter and one pizza, but this is the place where I feel«ain’t nobody got time for starters”-just give me the pizza! Waited about 30 mins for our table, and they use a text system to let you know when your table is ready. Community style seating, which can be a little awkward, but you do what you gotta do to eat this serious pie. Had a delicious hef too! Highly recommended! Get the fennel sausage pizza!

My husband and I met my brother here for dinner on a Thursday night. There was a 20 minute wait at 8:40. Staff was friendly and server helpful in recommending pizza toppings. Between the 3 of us, we shared 2 pizzas and found that to be enough, though if you were with a really hungry group, you could probably do 1 pizza per person. The buffalo mozzarella pizza had a classic flavor and good crust, but a little too much sauce. The sweet fennel sausage pizza was good BUT it was too cheesy and sauce heavy, which meant that most of the dough was pretty soggy. Overall the experience left me a little underwhelmed and I probably wouldn’t go back nor recommend. Also, I found the prices to be too high by like $ 2 – 3.

Serious Pie is a serious pain in the neck. I arrived solo on a Wednesday night and put my name in for a table. Because it’s communal seating(ugh), I figured I’d have a chance to slip in adjacent to some odd-numbered group. Instead, I watched the hostess pass me over twice for parties of two that had arrived after me. Weak. I ordered the sweet fennel sausage, roasted peppers and provolone pizza($ 18). It was pretty tasty, but not a lot of food for $ 18. Honestly, you’ll need to order one pizza per person here. The pizza was really skimpy on the cheese, but I enjoyed the salty crust. The pizza was very thin and floppy, so you’ll need a fork to eat it. I should also note that Serious Pie’s logo looks like a clown running with his dick on fire. For superior pizza, head to Rocco’s at 2nd& Bell.
