I’ve received so many compliments on a Boho Republic dress I recently purchased to add to my Fall wardrobe! Owner Amy graciously showed me around her shop and studio, and she helped me find this gem. I really enjoyed exploring the clothing and accessories in the bright, open space.

My friend told me about her studio she rents out. When I came to visit Seattle I definitely wanted to visit her and check out her latest creations. When I called her she told me to come to the shop, Sassafras. I took my really food friend with me. We barely made it through the door before my buddy was digging through the sale bin by the door. We met the owner Amy right away. She was genuine and a super sweetheart. She complimented my friend on her vintage German jacket. My friend then spotted a slim, classic ring that she purchased right away. Amy offered us come vino while we shopped. Since, we are both over good ol’ 21 we happily accepted the offer. My other friend came out of her studio to greet us. She showed us all the gorgeous leather skirts, halters and one jacket under her line«La Macon». Amy explained that there are over 60 vendors from Vancouver, Seattle, Portland and basically all over Cascadia in the shop. I loved the concept a lot. Instead of just having a market or a website, you could physically come into this shop and be able to find a unique item and support local designers. This is a concept that is getting a little lost in the modern day shopping experience. I guess I’m a little old school when it comes to shopping. I love getting right in there and trying things on. I also checked out a bunch of other designers and saw tons of dresses I was interested in. I know if I lived in Seattle I would definitely be making my pay day visits here and hanging out with cool ladies, sipping wine and doing some retail therapy. It was also super cool to check out the studios downstairs. It was like being on the set of Project Runway. My friend is a cutie and we kid that she’s like a «sister from another mister» to me. We both have a weakness for girly punk fashion. I loved her studio covered in cool details from Lichtenstein prints, Barbies, inspirational boards and gorgeous leather creations in the making. Leather is her specialty! My friend I brought with me spotted a vintage rack in the downstairs and found a cool button up for $ 13. It happened to be an old vintage shirt from Amy’s, the owner. I can’t wait to come back to the shop in my next visit!

If you appreciate design, unique fashion, and locally made clothing, you’ll love this shop. Very fun to roam with friends or on a solo shopping trip! I happened upon a trunk sale and loved what the items. Check out the working studio downstairs if you can!

Their dresses have super powers. I never knew I needed a denim astronaut dress until I met Sassafras and now I have two(mini and maxi, obvs). They’re much more affordable and local than other boutiques in Ballard and Fremont, not to mention Belltown! Local standards like Alchemy Goods, Texture Clothing and Clair from Portland(one of many lines they carry where the sizes go up way past typical boutique sizes — probably to a 16) abound. They also have a design incubator in the basement, which is how I’ve come to own those astronaut dresses by Boho Republic. They fit like they’re made for me and I get a steady stream of compliments when I wear them — so many women walk up to me asking where to buy my dress. Given how new Boho Republic designs are selling out, I should start lying! All dresses are under $ 200 and most necklaces are $ 40 – 80. The in house clothing production means free in house tailoring, too, which is a fantastic bargain. Don’t forget to check out the nicely edited selection of vintage in the dressing room — though their slinky natural fibers make me pretty averse to polyester, so I rarely end up trying on vintage.

I am so glad this wonderful boutique opened up! I was intrigued to go in after seeing an adorable dress in the window, tried it on and was hooked. The owner is not only sweet and brings in such unique pieces, but after talking to her about the story behind the store,(local and vintage adaptations), and loved the new concept. The clothes, being hand made, fit perfectly and the color combinations were so wonderful. If you want good quality, unique pieces that you will wear over and over, check this place out!

I am so happy that this cute little shop opened up downtown! The owner is super friendly, and when I saw a dress on a mannequin that I liked, she gladly took it down for me to try. Before heading to the dressing room, she also showed me a different color(but decided to go with the original one I saw). The dressing room is an absolute delight – spacious and clean – something hard to find these days in most stores. There’s a comfortable couch with magazines nearby so my husband waited there while I changed. The mirror inside the dressing room was big but it was also nice to have a full-length mirror right outside the dressing room. Along with dresses, tops, skirts, and pants, there are cute and unique jewelries and accessories. We know where to shop for gifts now! I’ve been looking for unique clothes at affordable prices – Sassafras provides that and I will be returning for sure!
