I arrived at this establishment with my girlfriend on a Sunday night. We really wanted to try this place out because we drive by this place every time when we come to the north side. It was relatively slow and almost empty throughout the whole restaurant. We were greeted by a woman who smells like she just came back from a smoke break and was seated to our tables. As we were seated next to the window, our favorite location, we had two glasses of water and menus thrown at the table. I might be over exaggerating, but you know that slapping sound when you’re trying to swat a fly with a menu? Of course you do. Anyway, every restaurant there seems to be a ritual that within minutes someone asks for what kind of drinks they can get for you. Well, without looking at the menu. I asked kindly asked what they have on tap, because everyone knows beer taste’s so much better on tap. She tells me a list of small brews they have and I asked if they have Stella Artois. She SCOFFS and said, «I already told you what I have on tap.» As if I wasn’t listening. Was she assuming I was asking what they have on tap? I already knew, you can still have Stella Artois by the bottle right? Well that just left a bad taste in by mouth. My girlfriend felt disgusted by her attitude and wanted to leave. I thought to myself, «How are you going to treat customers like that and wonder why this place is empty?» Without opening the menu we just left and went to go at another restaurant. I guess I should have read the reviews of this place before going. Happy eating.

If you’re looking for the newest, hippest, trendiest, most innovative restaurant in town you’ll want to go somewhere else. Because the 125th Street Grill is a pretty traditional lunch and dinner house. So when you do go in there you’ll want to order more traditional style entrees like burgers and steak with baked potato and salads and sandwiches. It’s a pretty safe bet that the fish you might see on the menu have been frozen and if they’re offering salmon it may be farm raised. If that sort of thing is a concern to you ask your waitress. None of this should discourage you in the least from dining at the 125th Street Grill. I’ve always experienced good service there and on the several occasions when I have had lunch at the 125th Street Grill the various hamburgers and fries have always been excellent. Another big plus, the place never seems to be noisy or loud like so many other restaurants are these days.

My grandparents had made reservations at this place 3 weeks prior to Thanksgiving because we have a pretty big family. Grandma didn’t want to cook this year, she had a hip replacment recently. So Thanksgiving is here! We had reservations to be seated at 5:30. Well 5:30 comes and goes and were all pretty much waiting in the bar not being told anything. Its now almost 6:30 and my grandpa is getting restless and tracks down a waitress. They tell him they are waiting for a table in the banquet room to become available! What the hell! So we finally get seated at abt 6:30 and they had a select menu for the occasion. Well by the time we got seated they were already out of ham and prime rib! If we would have been seated on time and people were not brought in as they came, we would of had the selection of what we wanted. I know it was Thanksgiving, but this shouldn’t have happened.

This place used to house Black Angus, but there is no connection. I have been here twice and was happy both times. Service was prompt and efficient, food was tasty and appropriately prepared and prices of main offerings were reasonable. Like most places now, drink and dessert prices are way to high, in my opinion. I had nachos the first time and a French dip sandwich with clam chowder the second. I will return — especially if I have shopping to do at K-Mart, Ross or other shops in the area.

I stayed down the street for business and was recommended to try this place. I got there at 8:30pm on a Saturday and was one of 4 people in the entire place. Ordered the Newport Chicken sandwich with coleslaw upon recommendation by the waiter. Coleslaw was the average diner quality… Denny’s style. The sandwich was good, not amazing, but the bread was toasted and well seasoned, and the chicken was cooked well. All in all, average diner.
