Ouch. Did Unilocal steer me wrong? In this case it absolutely did. The roast beef and wasabi coleslaw sandwich spoke to me and it was one of those situations that I tried to read the entire menu board but my eye kept reverting back to that particular sandwich. It sounds tasty enough but what you get for just over $ 15.00 after tip,(it was a combo with soup), leaves you feeling more than a bit cheated. The only redeeming factor for this sandwich was the bread, which was quite tasty. Other than that, the menu board should more appropriately read: coleslaw sandwich with a slice of roast beef. Seriously though, 95% slaw with a sad, sad, sad little layer of roast beef. Halfway through I scraped off the remaining slaw and the skimpiness of the meat became that much more apparent while I could have filled one of the containers used for sides to the brim. The soup was a bit sweet for my liking and perhaps the sour taste left in my mouth from the sandwich left me feeling that much more critical. Better luck next time, Pane Pane.

Yikes! I pass this place everyday walking to work and finally tried it. Maybe I ordered the wrong menu item, but I’m not returning. I ordered the Tuna sandwich with cheese. It’s basically a version of Jimmy Johns but not even as tasty. The tuna was literally right out of the can, with NOTHING in it. Slap on some under-ripped tomato and lettuce, along with a piece of American cheese(gross) and that’s that. Nasty! Can’t believe I spent close to $ 9 on something I can’t even bring myself to finish.

Kinda expensive, not a bad sandwich, but I wasn’t blown away. The bread was really good, flaky and yummy.

Yummy sandwiches! My friend had the beef and coleslaw, and I had the meatball banh mi. Sooo happy. Spicy and fresh with the right amount of veggie-meatball ratio(carrots, cucumbers, cilantro, onion, jalapeño peppers, spicy mayo). We ordered online, and it was a very convenient pick-up. Recommend the combo with the chips and a can of soda.

This store is not a franchise.(Yet!) This store has great sandwiches. This store is pricey. :(I stop here often though. You have Jimmy John’s, Subway, and there used to be a Jersey Mike’s in the area but they moved some few blocks over. I don’t know what to say but that you should at least check out their options. Some are left field but I always pay for the larger size because they’re so good. Then hop over to Kress Super Market for caffiene, and then catch my bus. That’s my morning commute. If they figured out out how to make things a little less expensive it would be 5 stars. At least you can buy two sandwiches worth of food and get enough punches for a free cookie or fountain soda.

I enjoyed the online order process and timely service of this sandwich shop, and a big shout-out for offering gluten-free bread for sandwiches! Even though the bread was just okay(it is a basic white sandwich bread that is starchy but disintegrates and sticks a little bit to the teeth, so it does have that famous«yes, this is gluten-free bread» feel), my bahn mi sandwich was quite tasty with the sriracha mayo and garlic oil, and it was the perfect quick lunch near my workplace that I was seeking, so I’m very glad I now have found this place — it’s always good to know my gluten-free options. I have not been a sandwich fan since I ditched gluten and dairy 4 years ago, but the sandwiches here are acceptable for the downtown gluten-free price, so I will be back to try other sandwiches at Pane Pane on those days when I don’t get a chance to pack my own lunch.

After my last review I figured I would be done with Pane Pane for good(I can be more than a tad stubborn). I was pleasantly surprised to receive a message from Young, the owner of Pane Pane. He was inquiring about my bad experience in earnest, looking for opportunities to examine and repair the issues with his business, and he was more than apologetic. Young invited my input and was very genuine in our dialogue about finding ways to better connect with and serve his customers. It is also important to note that Young is also invested in trying to grow his staff and give his team the opportunity to be successful. Young is an owner that visibly cares about the experience that his customers have when they come into the store. Any business owner that is willing to open up an honest conversation about how to improve their business with a customer is alright in my book. Pane Pane is a Seattle sandwich shop worth supporting and I look forward to taking my business back there in the future. Stop in when you are in the neighborhood or looking for a lunch spot near your office downtown.

Great smoked ham and cucumber sandwich and decent food portions. I thought this place had a good selection of unique sandwiches for sale. Fast service and in a very busy location. I felt that there were way to many choices and honestly they need to tone down there menu.

I popped in before seeing a concert at Benaroya Hall. It’s definitely better than anything you’d get at the Subway around the corner. You get your pick of tasty sauces and the ingredients are FRESH. It’s quick, delicious and cheap. What more could you want?

Was looking for a quick breakfast sandwich before hopping on a ferry to Fort Worden. Stopped into Pane Pane and ordered two egg sandwiches. Unfortunately, only one came with egg on it. I didn’t find out mine was missing the egg until I took a bite after leaving the store. I was stuck with a tomato and cold cheese sandwich and too much aioli. Pretty gross really.

As I was headed here I asked friends what they normally get and everyone told me about this meatball Bahn Mi so naturally while I didn’t want to eat a meatball sandwich I tried it and it was awesome. There is this slightly spicy sirracha mayo that contrasts the cooling cucumber and carrots in the Bahn mi. Fantastic sandwich and I will definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

I like a good sammich… and that means I like Pane Pane. Quick and easy, which is the key to any food shop in a busy commercial district… 20+ sandwich options that come in two sizes makes it quick and easy… start at the top of the menu and work your way down(or the bottom and work your way up if you like) as they all look good. Sandwiches come with ample meat and toppings and taste amazing. The cookies looked great and come with a frequent buyers card so I recommend them as well. Vegetarian options, Gluten-free bread, tasty sauces/spreads and a wasabi coleslaw. what is there to not love… oh yeah, they have breakfast sammiches as well.

Went in for a sandwich. Now I eat things plain and dry. And I know that a lot of sandwich shops cater to the fancier side. I understand that. I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich. #31 on the menu. I asked for it dry and plain. It was 6″ and it was $ 5.00. When j got said sandwich it was a slice of cheddar folded in half and a slice of ham. «A» slice of each…$ 5.00… I walked back in and asked the manager-owner(I honestly didn’t clarify which) what’s up with this. She was aghast and asked where the rest was to her crew. I felt for a second that this would be rectified. Nope. Her crew explained that I asked for it dry. She assumed I was talking about the lettuce and everything else I asked to not have. When we all came to an understanding she said that this portion was correct. So I asked if she was ok with a slice of each? She said yes. It’s all portioned out specifically and this is what you get for $ 5.00. I was appalled that someone would seriously serve something this pathetic. And that’s what I told her. I didn’t have time to go stand in line somewhere else. She offered to refund. But time didn’t allow and so I walked away with my $ 5 roll with a semblance of protein. I don’t know how to load images. If I figure to out you’ll get to see the pic of the sandwich as I left the place. I’m sure that if you eat with more variety than I, I’m sure you will be happy with all the veggies and what not. But as for the poor carnivore. I’ll never eat here again and I hope she learns to find a way to respect us more limited consumers. But I have my doubts since all she seemed concerned with is being right and winning a meaningless argument.

Very underwhelming given the classification as a «specialty» sandwich shop and the good Unilocal rating. I ordered the small turkey and swiss with balsamic vinegrette. I could hardly tell there was even turkey on the sandwich and the cheese, totally lost. There were a lot of veggies which I do like but if I order a turkey and cheese sandwich I kind of expect those to be the main ingredients. It was a very sloppy looking sandwich also. Like they put all the ingredients in a bowl, loosely tossed, but not so much as to call it a salad, and threw it on a roll. And let’s talk about the roll… I enjoy a crusty bagette just as much as the next bread lover but this was just not good. It was crusty in the few days old type way instead of the this is fresh but supposed to be crusty way. Oh and I almost forgot the balsamic vinegrette and probably because it seemed like they did too. I could barely taste it; I was able to see some squirted on the bread when I checked but it was pretty sparse. Moral of the story I will be exploring other sandwich options in the area in the future.

The food is great, but they serve breakfast at 8:00 am. Downtown? That late? Really? Why bother?

I had the #44 pastrami and genoa salami with provolone; I chose aioli as my sauce. It was good but what really stood out was the bread. Crispy, crunchy, soft on the inside, like good banh mi bread. My one finicky critique: the spinach was stuffed on the outer side of the sandwich which made it hard to eat as the spinach kept falling out and getting in the way. Would be better if it was placed underneath the meat. I had asked for no onions and the sandwich maker girl asked me if I wanted any substitution for the onion — which I didn’t expect would be free, but it was! So they added tomatoes at my request. I appreciated that they asked what substitution I wanted even though all I asked for originally was to remove one ingredient. It’s not a sit down place, so order to-go only. Although they do have some seating along the walls, it’s more for those people in line or waiting to pick up their food. The space is pretty small so it’s an in-and-out operation. I will be back!

4STARS overall — come for the breakfast sandwiches! The breakfast sandwiches here are incredible! Soft chewy high quality bread, choice of meat(I ordered extra) and generous amounts of fluffy eggs — but the cherry on top was the cherry peppers heh. Breakfast sandwiches are served until 11 I believe but you can order any sandwich all day. They have a convenient online ordering system and s loyalty card. However in the morning there was zero wait time. I ordered a large sandwich on another day, and it was just not as good. Perhaps because I did not eat it right away — the bread did get really soggy. On the plus side, they were very generous with the sandwich fillings and the large is gigantic(what a steal for $ 10!).

Convenient spot to grab a quick breakfast or lunchtime sandwich downtown. I like the option to order online. They were very speedy and my online order was awaiting me within about 5 minutes of me placing it. The smaller sized sandwich seems plenty large to me(unless I was given the large size by mistake!), and is a great value. There is a lot of variety on the menu, and they use tasty breads and fresh ingredients. Also plenty of combo options to add coleslaw, soup or chips to your order. I’ve also gotten breakfast sandwiches here in the past and they offer an interesting array of sauce options. Here I am adding a star for the service. Everyone there is very friendly, and when I placed my online order and forgot to pick up my fountain drink(I had ordered a combo), one of their employees chased me a full city block to make sure I came back to get it. Great attention to detail! He told me it wouldn’t be a meal without a cold soda to wash it down. I guess they normally tape the cup to the bag on their online to-go orders, but it fell off so I hadn’t noticed.

I always pass by this place and finally got to check it out today. I immediately noticed that they had a good drink selection. No alcohol, but they had various Odwalla juice bottles, Red Bull, Coke products, among others. They offer lots of different sandwiches. I ordered #53. I didn’t know Mascarpone was cheese(and I am trying to avoid dairy these days) but it was good. It’s like… fluffier cream cheese basically. Bread was good too. The only problem was I ordered mine without onions but it came with lots of it =(It was easy enough to remove them myself. The place was kind of loud. They were playing some rock music and it was hard to hear the clerk. He was probably having hard time hearing me too. Service was good though. Regardless, good value, pretty good tasting sandwich. I would have given it 3.5 stars if I could. They take credit cards.
