Went back to this place only to find it shut down.

Yup we like this place. We had 3 sushi rolls and teriyaki chicken. We split everything and got crazy full and the food tasted great. They do not have alcohol but that is fine with me, there was a full on tavern right next door. 105th is being worked on right now so it’s been easier in the past to get to, but we used Google maps to find close by sushi and were glad we took the side streets to get here to try. Yum!

Oishii from my understanding means good or tasty, um, yeah, not so much. Not fresh, not tasty. The service was kind and I’m all for hole-in-wall places, I wanted to like it. $ 50 gone poof and all I have to show for it is a bad taste in my mouth and an uneven tummy. My quest for sublime Sushi in Seattle continues.

I love Oishii! Kevin at the register, is always friendly and attentive. His mother makes the sushi, and the sushi is delicious! I always get a rainbow roll, and the yummy yummy roll is tops too! I love stopping in at sunset, and catching the little white twinkle lights in the window, and the simple ambiance of the restaurant means you can come in, in whatever you’d like to wear, and feel comfortable. Their teriyaki is quite good as well, and my friend raves about the bubble tea. With my usual ticket adding up to between $ 20 – 30, it’s worth the 10 minute or so wait. One of the more delicious, laid back sushi places in Seattle. Absolutely a must for my friends from out of town. :)

I come here regularly for the bento box. Quite possibly the best I’ve had. I typically go for the grilled salmon and avocado rolls, which they compliment with salads, rice, tempura, miso, etc. Food is fresh and served pretty quickly. The restaurant is clean, though they may want to tone down on whatever industrial cleaning solution they use to clean the place — the smell is slightly distracting. However, this doesn’t seem to take away from tasting the food itself, so I won’t count it against them.

So far I am loving this place. The kid at the register is good humored and polite, the fish is high quality at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is essentially what I prefer in a sushi place— laid back, casual, but not dingy. There was clearly some thought put in, but it was minimal, so it gives a really unpretentious vibe I like because hey. Sushi is expensive. I wanna feel like that $ is going in to the food, not your fancy trendy ambiance. That might just be me, though. Anywho, they’re really great about substitutions and making suggestions, and are very willing to drop your take out off at the bar next door(Tim’s Tavern) so that you can have a couple drinks and do some pull tabs while you wait. Sweet find.

As I entered the first thing I noticed was the odor of bathroom cleaner all the way at the front door. Uh, gross. It seemed like I had entered a gas station restroom, not a restaurant. The noodles I ordered were tasty, but overly greasy. Should I have to tell them to use less oil? The bubble tea was not the blended ice that I am used to. It was full of dairy or cream, or fake dairy, and probably stirred. Bottom line: my stomach feels gross now. Also, the traditional television, as in many asian restaurants, was playing too loudly some crappy sit com. When I did visit the mens room, it was clean. But the toilet bowl was full of comet powder, with the bottle of comet next to it. Why? If this is your idea of deoderizer it is not working. It is probably poisoning your child, studying at the back table, the customers and the staff. I had not been in the place for the past year. It was much nicer when it was newly remodeled and had it’s grand opening.

My favorite place in this area to get very high quality fresh sushi and sashimi for a reasonable price. Their Bento Box’s are quite impressive too. Big fan of the beef teriyaki and gyoza. I go here pretty regularly and have been doing so for at least a couple years and 99% of the time everything is very fresh and very good. First thing you will notice when you get here is that the outside of the building, which is connected to a dive bar, is kinda run down and sketchy looking with signs and pictures all over it. Its in a weird spot right in the middle of residential. Despite all this a couple years ago I decided to live life dangerously and give it a try and I am so glad I did! Always the same man and woman working here. Must be a couple or family. They are always super nice and super friendly. The man does all the waiting and the woman is the sushi chef. I think there’s also someone in the back kitchen doing all the cooked foods. I definately like seeing them every time and its great to support a locally owned and operated business like this. I highly recommend this place to all my friends!

I had the bento box. It was a great sample of what Oishii has to offer. The sushi was excellent and fresh. The three different salads that come in the bento box were great too. The teriyaki beef was average, nothing special. Price is about what you would expect for a Seattle teriyaki restaurant. Just make sure not to blink as you drive by, you might miss it.

Great sushi here. It was very fresh and we had very quick service. There were also a lot of options to choose from. My only wish is that they served beer. Other than that, it was great and I’ll probably go back soon.

I went there with my housemates yesterday, and we ordered 2 bento and 1 spicy tuna rice bowl. Despite their pricing, these were actually a good portion and I had a full dinner(i ordered the rice bowl). I only give it 3 because of the price(15 dollars per person!) and service being pretty slow despite only having one or two other customers while we were there. My full assessment would be complete with more orders from here(especially sushi items).

edit. Went back to try again because of all the good reviews, went from one to three stars, portions were huge, service was good and the sushi was okay, not the best but if we were close I would do lunch there. First off, this was my first time there, I ordered for pick up. the Unagi was too soft and the sauce was really sweet, the salmon was slimy and avocado a bad. the girl was nice when I picked up the food but the food itself was terrible

I have driven by here a couple times, so I thought that today was a good time to get some sushi rolls for lunch. They had a wide variety of sushi rolls and nigiri to choose from, several different combos. I went with a Cali roll and spicy tuna roll. If you can’t get the basics right, then there’s something wrong. The sushi rolls were freshly prepared, rolled well, and very large! I’m used to getting six pieces of sushi for the price of the 8(each) large pieces that I received. On the menu, they even have *large* sushi rolls. I don’t know how someone could eat more than one of the regular rolls and not be somewhat satisfied. The sushi is good. I really like the California roll, it’s the basic standardized version with suirimi, but it’s very tasty. I’d say it would be better if they said it was suirimi instead of crab on the menu, because there’s a huge difference. The spicy tuna is also good, but only OK. I like that they don’t use the mayo version, but the tuna has a very strong taste, like it was cut from one of the more dark pieces of the tuna, which aren’t as delicate and way more fishy. Overall, I’m not disappointed, it’s not soon to become my most favorite place for sushi by far, but I’d come back to take advantage of their bento lunch or one of the specials. It may be worth it to come and have rolls during happy hour, as they seem to have a good menu with many choices.

As part of my campaign to creepily run in to Ellen when she’s «in the neighborhood», I headed over to Oishii yesterday for the first time, despite it being less than a mile from my house. Let’s just say that it has further cemented what everyone already knows: I’m an idiot. It was very empty yesterday which kind of surprised me but it meant that even after ordering 40 dollars worth of food(including four sushi rolls), the wait was only about 10 — 15 minutes. Plus, I COULD have called it in but, again, I was in man about town mode. The inside is simple but I would argue nicer and comfier than most teriyaki places. Closer to the sushi restaurant end in the grand scheme of the hybrid. Anyways, the food takes the stage. Chicken yakitori — admittedly, the sauce is lacking a little something, but the portion is huge for the price and the chicken itself is delicious and tender. I would simply recommend dipping in a teriyaki or sriracha or whatever sauce you love. Orange chicken — only had two bites but the chicken was good, not greasy or over fried and sauce had a nice zip to it. Tuna maki, Spicy tuna, and Unagi rolls — All delicious, good portions, fresh and well crafted. It’s such a pleasure having found three different places now that have full sized sushi rolls for under six bucks. Love it! Hella Hot Roll — Delicious! I feel the best way to describe this colossus is to picture the offspring of Wasabi’s Pretty Python Roll and Baked Scallop Roll. Spicy, full of veggies, delicious… and most impressive, the scallops were perfect. I have never produced a baby tiny scallop as tender as these were. So good! There are tons of rolls on the menu I want to try, tons of hot dishes, and now that I have ‘broken the seal’(horrible choice of metaphor), I know I will be back soon!

A solid 4. We’ve all seen multiple restaurants go through that slow, long and painful death in this location for the last 10 years or so. So when this place opened I kind of ignored it for a few months. It’s kind of like when your good guy friend starts dating another girl and you just know it’s going to end, and badly. I finally got around to trying this place last week. Initially, I was surprised by the cozy, clean ambiance and thoughtful, colorful menu. The huz and I ordered bento boxes, and my dad ordered chicken teriyaki and katsu. The food was great quality and left me wanting to return. The bento box was creative and unique. Each bento box comes with 3 side salads, edamame, gyoza, shrimp tempura, chicken yakitori, rice, miso soup, and your choice of two entrees. Now, tell me that isn’t generous. I’m a picky girl when it comes to chicken, and I’m happy to report there were no half-chewed pieces of meat on my plate following this meal. What a win!

I love this place. It’s that simple. I’ve been coming here for the past 8 months and I have never been disappointed with the quality or the portions. I used to be a fan of their bento boxes. Particularly the teriyaki chicken, spicy tuna roll combo. For $ 13 bucks, they are throwing everything but the kitchen sink your way in the form of a bento box. Absolutely delicious. Recently I have become a HUGE fan of their Saturday ALLDAY Happy Hour. They have samples of almost everything on the menu for only $ 1.50 per item. If you like variety and you want to try everything and not break the bank, go to Oishii on a Saturday. It will definitely be worth your time. Oishii definitely lives up to it’s name – absolutely«delicious».

Very awesome sushi/teriayki joint! I was in the mood for some good sushi/teriyaki on a Sunday, as my favorite local spot(Nori Presto) is closed this day of the week. I did some Unilocal searching and saw some other Unilocaler’s giving this a good review, definitely time to give it a shot. I noticed it’s located at the old North Shore Hawaiian BBQ place which was pretty meh, but this place isn’t. I was delighted to see that they offer a happy hour EVERY day(even Sundays) from 3−6PM. The happy hour consists of $ 4.50 rolls, $ 1.50 off teriyaki, and some more things as well. We went with a Seattle roll and Spicy tuna roll. Top that off with some Miso soup and chicken teriyaki and we were pleasantly delighted for under $ 20. Sushi was fresh and tasty, teriyaki was good quality, and paired that with great service means I’m coming back.

2.5 stars. The bad: Warm beer, sparse service, sushi rolls composed of 90% mushy rice, questionable wasabi, general saltiness of the food. The good: Happy hour pricing, Red Light District roll, decent udon, and comped service for birthdays(the kiddies loved the ice cream) Nothing to get excited about but you get what you pay for here.
