Robert is an extremely talented craftsman. He built a unique mantle for our home that perfectly matched my vision of an architectural element that looked hundreds of years old. He sourced out the wood, designed the mantle so it fit the proportions of our living room and the architectural style of our Country Tudor home. He distressed and stained it perfectly. It looks rustic without looking like it belonged in a lodge. It was the perfect addition to our home. Robert also does fine furniture repair, matching cabinetry and more. If I had a favorite piece that I wanted distressed or refinished — he would be the first person I would call. He isn’t cheap but the quality of his work surpassing his fees.

What this gallery lacks in space, it makes up for with amazing talent and art. I have attended two different shows over the past two months and both have been very unique, thought provoking and always provide amazing topics for conversation.
The Robert Madsen gallery has a very interesting layout due to the suspended, wooden walls that serve as the epicenter of the gallery space. The gallery also shares space with the massive woodshop, that serves as the birthplace to many of the featured pieces.
The next time you are out and about in Ballard, and want to get an art fix, check this place out. It’s very cool!
