I have been coming here for years and love the owner and all the girls that work there. I love my morning routine of walking to the shop with my pup Seamus and getting my delicious coffee. They use Lighthouse roasters which is one of my favorites and also have mud bay treats for the pups. They serve a mean puppachino too :) They also have a great spread of gluten free bars, mighty o donuts and sandwiches. Love you guys :)

Love. This. Place. It is rather tiny with just 2 tables below and a few tables upstairs but that is the charm of it. It’s a great cozy spot to grab a book and read or chat with regulars. Nice choices for drinks and apparently they have amazing loaded waffles. The tea and hot cocoa were great. The place buzzed with many people that seemed regulars. Love the coziness and friendliness of this tiny place.

Java Jahn(reminds me of Java Jane up in Seattle!) is a great quick-grab pace for a good cup of coffee, tea, and good looking treats. They have both to-go and dine in options for cups.

Java Jahn’s baristas are really nice! The coffee is pretty good, too. And so are the waffles! The store has some nice room upstairs, too, so you can get away from the«intimate» entrance/waiting area. The prices are reasonable and it’s a comfortable place to «work remotely» from.

Came here for a quick coffee and bagel and ended up getting a bacon breakfast sandwich, which was excellent. I also got a doughnut but it seemed like it might have been a little old. The house blend was quite good as well.

Love this place. Been here many time and its always great. As other people have said, the upstairs is a great place to work. Quiet, fast internet, air conditioned and really comfortable. But what makes them a 5-star for me is how nice they are. I came in on a Sunday with 3 hours to kill. They closed at 3(which I didn’t know). I was working away upstairs when 3 came and went. Rather than kick me out, the lady working cleaned and closed down the whole place and then only at 3:45 when everything was done she let me know. Very thoughtful. Great place.

Super nice. Super cute. Super good coffee. What more could you ask for?! Plus it’s not $ 8 for a latte which is nice. The baristas are friendly and know how to make a good cup of coffee go figure! Definitely my new go to when I’m in Ballard.

I like Java Jahn. Being the closest coffee joint to my work that isn’t a Starbucks, I frequent this place, well, because its got coffee. The ladies who work here are also pretty damn quick and friendly. Parking is on the street, so it can be a little hairy sometimes, but still manageable.

Went in for the first time and they were some of the nicest people ever! Friendly and very professional baristas that I would recommend to anyone. Had their waffles and they were delicious as well! I will definitely be back!

Good service but a little too pricey… Two bagels and an ice tea for $ 10 seems a bit much to me. The people were nice and I appreciate that they actually put the cream cheese on for you… in the end it’s a bagel for a bit too much.

This is one of my favorite cafes. I would get their peanut butter and marshmallow waffles weekly one fall, but they have since discontinued it. Their PB and banana waffles are pretty fabulous, too. More importantly, the service has been consistently top-notch. Some of the most friendly baristas I have encountered in Seattle. I also appreciate that it’s cozy anytime of the year and that I can always find a seat up in the loft to work without disturbance.

Hallelujah, I have found my safe place. Super convenient location, especially for me since I come over to Ballard mostly for LA fitness. This place is like 3 min walk from the bridge compared to many other cafes, so maybe not the best for many Ballard residents. It is by the road with couple of parking on the road or next to the place. Easy to find, but easy to miss as well since it it a pretty small place. This is probably the part that did it for me: service. When I walked into an empty café, the employee working was cleaning the place. She invited me with nice smile and immediately went to the counter to get my order(surprisingly a lot of people do not get that getting order is more important than making drinks or cleaning the place). She was patient with me being picky on what to choose, and helped me out by explaining the prices and even had full minute conversation on why we hate cream in the donut. She had the attitude and personality of a great barista, and that leaves the customers very satisfied even before getting their drinks. That is probably why they have a lot of regulars here, and I know that since she remembers name of like ten people who came in within 30 minute period. The coffee was pretty good, very light body though, which was surprising since I expect medium body for most Seattle blends. Not too acrid, more of fruity sourness with right amount of bitterness. Perfect with their pastry to make some bittersweet flavor. Overall, I would definitely come here whenever I am not feeling to explore other cafes. I know I will get my good cup of coffee with extra smile and great service on top. Flavor profile: Warming Spicy Herby Piquant Alkaline bitter Rough

Their(iced) green tea lattes are truly amazing! Very refreshing on this hot day. Also, the service was great, the barrista was super sweet. Plus, the internet is fast as well. I actually like that the ‘study area’ is upstairs, above the entrance, so you feel like you can study without any of the bustle of people ordering drinks.

Absolutely love this place. Great breakfast sandwiches, solid coffee. But the girls that work here are all so freakin’ sweet. Über friendly and fun.

Stopped in here recently to grab some cold beverages in the«scorching» Seattle heat. They put waaaaay too much syrup in their drinks. Yikes! I got a Strawberry Italian soda, and it was so sweet that I couldn’t drink it. My friend got an iced hazelnut latte, and even though he drank all of it, he complained about how sweet it was. It’s such a shame! This place is super cute and convenient to where I live.

Very cool space, nice people, and consistently good coffee. Not a lot of parking, but that’s alright. They’re making the absolute most out of a fairly small area. There’s a bar with stools by the door, a couple tables in a corner, and then a loft shoved over everything with a few more tables and chairs. Central to the space, and completely covered by the loft, is the pastry case and coffee bar. The pastries looked pretty amazing. We didn’t come in for sandwiches, but we got a couple Americanos and they were tasty and reasonably priced. This is clearly a solid coffee choice in the area, and they keep nice long hours. They value their regulars and they are happy to see you.

This is a cool coffeeshop I just discovered, although it seems like it is well known to the locals. Not a very large space — a garage turned into a coffeeshop with a garage door entrance and small seating area upstairs. There are a few square tables downstairs and then 4 tables upstairs. At least from the bottom level, you get a lot of light coming through. Coffee is good — espresso is better than drip on my taste test. Vanilla latte was tasty — around $ 3.75-$ 4. Flavor shots are $ 0.25 which is cheaper than most places. Also, plenty of food options — sandwiches, bagels, etc. The barista was very friendly — as has been reported by other Unilocalers. Good customer service. When I was here on a Sunday afternoon, it was busy(sounds like busier than it usually is). Maybe folks coming from the Mars Hill Church across the street. A little loud with outside street noise coming in. Some background muzac wouldn’t hurt. Free wifi. Not so good parking. Definitely a cool space and good coffee. I would return.

Located in Ballard, directly across from Mars Hill, this is one great coffee shop. The staff have been friendly, personable and efficient on all visits. The coffee is served quick and has a great taste to it. Prices are a bit on the higher side; however, menu prices do include tax so that helps and punch cards are available for frequent visitors. Overall this is a great coffee shop that has a nice locally owned feel to it and staff that cares about their guests and their products.

Alright, adding that 5th Star. The latte I had yesterday was fabulously delicious, the barista remembers my drink even though I only come to Java Jahn every couple months, and the service is always splendidly friendly. Do it to it.
