I LOVE Jai Thai… the employees, the ambiance, the food and all the different events they put on!!! It’s a truly awesome place! If you like Thai cuisine and you’ve never been here you’ve got to try it. You won’t be disappointed! I used to go to the Jai Thai in Fremont from time to time until I found a large bug in the seafood salad I’d ordered. Needless to say, I’ve never returned there since!

I have been to Jai Thai around 10 times since I live near by and I really think they deserve more stars. First of all, they open until 1 am, which is really convenient for me especially anywhere else is closed. And secondly, their food is good, my favorite is garlic prawn and fried rice. I admit it costs a few dollars than other Thai places, but what can I say? Thirdly, their new waitress is really friendly. She is busy, she has to deal with to-go orders, but still, she is very patient. I never have bad experience there, and they have provided me food times when I was hungry and cold, so I think I should speak up for them.

After staying in on a Friday night, my tastebuds were craving for some Thai food. I convinced my friend to get Thai with me since he was craving it too. And since we looked up some Thai food closed to his house, the only enticing place opened after 10PM was this place. This place have you wait until seated, but since the hostess(who was taking a take out order on the phone) was also the waitress and the busser, it took us a good five minutes before we were actually seated. After she was done with the customer on the phone she told us to take a seat(«anywhere? – I guess.,» we told ourselves). We picked a table close to the door and so every time the door was opened, we felt that breeze run up our legs. Fortunately for us, they keep a portable heater across from our table to sort of keep our legs warm. It so happens that the table we were sitting at had no Christmas lights working behind us(yeah, they still have the Christmas lights out – or maybe that’s part of their décor, I don’t know, my first time there), no top glass on our table, and two center candles! That doesn’t affect my review, but I thought that was oddly strange. My friend and I ordered the fried tofu for our appetizer. The tofu didn’t really bother me, because my mom fries the tofu where it is not breaded, but yet still crispy. However, it was too crispy for my friend. The sauce tasted like really watered down Mae Ploy chili sauce – without the chili. As for our entrée, I ordered Kanom Jeen and he ordered Ba Mee Hang. These two dishes are both noodle dishes, but it doesn’t say they were soupy. I personally liked Kanom Jeen more than my friend’s Ba Mee Hang. To me, my dish tasted like it was in peanut sauce, but it was too curry-liked for my friend. His Ba Mee Hang tasted like a super sweet Phad Thai. If I had that dish, I’m pretty sure I would get tired of it once I’m halfway done with it. I only gave this place a three star, because the food didn’t really stood out for me. I wouldn’t mind coming back here for a comedy night and trying out their fried rice though!

My Boyfriend and I are regulars here, probably because we live close by. I get the Phud Kee Mao(Drunken Noodles) with tofu and my boyfriend gets the phad thai with chicken. Always with a side of peanut sauce. We also get the thai ice tea with coconut milk which is nice because i hate regular milk. The portions are pretty big, I can never finish the whole thing. They are very consistent with their food and it’s always delicious. The staff are very friendly and everything comes out fast. The prices are also very reasonable.

Sticky Rice dessert with Coconut ice-cream was yummy, although there were some chewy add ons that I’m not sure were the best choice. I’d have to try again and see.

Nice little Thai restaurant. The red curry chicken was quite good.

Got food to go in late afternoon on 12⁄31. The chicken was was undercooked(looked raw in spots) and there was an unidentified brown chunk that is not a normal ingredient of Larb. My 16 year old did some Google searches and it looked exactly like rat poop. Tried to get a refund over the phone(since we already wasted enough time and did not want a replacement meal) but was told I’d have to bring the food back. Brought it back the next night. The manager apologized, said they have no rat issues but would look into it(there was no other explanation offered for the brown chunk), and gave us our refund. He also offered a certificate for free dinner another time, but I declined — we won’t be returning here ever again. Luckily, 24 hours later, nobody in the family is showing any signs of illness even though we ate some of it before we discovered the problem.

Ate dinner here 12/27/15…just happened in wanting some Thai before heading over to the Schilling Cider House. The four of us spilt four dishes, which was really only enough food for two people. …My wife didn’t even get a chance to try the Garlic Galor because it was so skimpy. And because the serving sizes were about half that of other Thai restaurants, it made it twice as expensive to eat here! If their product was special I might cut them some slack, but it’s equivalent to hundreds of other average Thai places around Seattle. (If you want GREAT Thai check out Similan Thai Cuisine in Issaquah.) It’s also a bad sign when a proprietor does not respond/rebut on Unilocal to the more negative reviews… tells me they don’t care, have a captive audience and will eventually burn their through customer base. We won’t go back.

Here’s what I liked about this place: Fast and friendly service Vegan options readily available Stiff top shelf drinks In the heart of Capital Hill What I’m not a fan of: Prices are a bit steep for the portion sizes I ordered spicy as 3 out 4 stars and it was more like a 1 star Brown rice was mushy and overcooked Would I go back? Probably. Would it be first choice. Probably not. In a city full of vegan fare, especially in a trendy location such a Capital Hill there are far too many other options to settle for less than amazing.

The reason why I give 2 star for this place is because of their fantastic Mango Sticky Rice dessert with Coconut ice-cream and they open at late night. I have so many terrible memory with this place for the past 2 years, idk why but they always mess up my Pad Thai order. Once, I ordered a Pork Pad Thai to go on the phone, when I came there and pick up they got me Tofu instead. The next day, I came back and just want to talk to the owner that they should be more careful with the food, she cut my word and throw me a new box of Pork Pad Thai just likes she want to get rid of me. That happened several times, not only for togo but also for dine-in, they made Tom Kha instead of Tom Yum soup, wrong meat choice on Fried Rice/Pad Thai/Pad See Ew. I came there around 11pm yesterday to dine-in, and once again they give me the chicken Pad Thai instead of Beef(not so suprise), and even though I told the waitress that please don’t let the kitchen make it too sweet but I felt like I was eating taste-less chicken candy strip. And the behavior of the owner is just unacceptable, whenever me and my friends came to talk about the wrong orders, she just keep throwing new boxes of food and look at us at like we lying. The service is okay, except the point that the waiter/waitress are never there when you need them, sometimes I feel like I can just walk through the door after having my food and they might not even notice. The only reason I keep coming back is because of the Mango Sticky Rice and Coconut Ice Cream, if they mess up with these two I’m promise this is the most awful Thai Kitchen I ever ate in my life.

very nice restaurant behind my house. I usually hope into this place for lunch or late night food. I don’t know why they put so many bad review but to me the food is good. I got the garlic trout today, probably seasonal item? very nice dish 1 sad thing is Jai needs to work on their spiciness scale. I always order 4 stars but it tastes like 1 to me and I have to eat a lot of red pepper in the fish sauce jar, sorry :(

I’ve eaten at Jai Thai several times because I live so close. I always hope it’ll be good but the food is just subpar. I’ve had a variety of dishes and they’re always just ok. The Tom yum soup, my favorite Thai dish, is NOT tasty. It’s bland and the seafood has a mildew taste. The one redeeming quality is the free performances. I’ll keep going for the shows but I won’t buy much so that can’t be incentivizing… I want this place to be good; it has awards from 2007 lining the walls. What happened?

Seattle, WA: Came for the weekly poetry slam entertainment in the bar area. Dinner here was convenient. We came primarily to attend the final Rain City Slam Poetry competition, held here in the bar area. Service was decent. We were greeted promptly, drink orders noted, and then our food orders were taken, all within a reasonable amount of time. Considering the number of people in attendance, a packed house, our food was served in a fair anount of time. The Chicken Phad See Ew was average in quality and quantity. The noodles were tender, just right, but became too salty at the bottom of the plate. They added $ 1.50 to cover the cost of the additional fried tofu. However, there were less than six pieces of broccoli, the entire vegetable count in my entrée. My dining companion wanted no Unilocaling near his food so the Swimming Angel, meh, has no photo. Our table was shared with others, communal style, because of the bar setting and entertainment. Strangers’ cocktails came and went along the table’s edge but every one was cordial. We did lose track of who had which water glass though. The bar side of the restaurant appeared to be twice the size of the small dining room. Service was attentive. One of two staff checked on us numerous times throughout our visit. However, it took over 20 minutes to close out my tab at the bar as the cashiers were also the bartenders. They did acknowledge my presence. The restrooms were clean. SNAPSHOTTHOUGHTS This was my first attendance at a poetry slam. The slam style poetry was different from traditional poetry in that, at least in tonight’s presentations, it was more anacdotal, three minute story telling. Many were very personal revelations. I enjoyed the humor infused pieces best. It was an amazing opportunity to see poets sharing their original works. It was extraordinarily well attended tonight because it was finals night for the annual Rain City Hoodie Championship Slam. For more information, go to

Delivery took an hour and 45 minutes when it was told to be 45 minutes. Delivery driver was sitting in front of me for 10 minutes in a black car smoking a cigarette until I approached him asking if he was the delivery driver. He advised he was and told me he couldn’t find my number on the receipt which I then proceeded to show him the phone number box. Then the driver said his phone was dead(even though he was texting in the car in front of me before that). Food was cold, Sweet and sour chicken was horrible and I couldn’t eat it at all. WOULDNOTRECOMMENDEATINGHERE.

I’m really surprised to see such a low overall rating here. I’ve had drinks here and am really excited to catch a comedy/open mic night soon. The seating is great– they have 2 – 3 of the booths that are set low with benches and cushions, which is a cute novelty. The back area has a stage, seating, the booths, and a bar. The front has plenty of table seating, too, and the specials board. It seems like these are good rotation. Finally ate here late night a few days ago. I guess the server has worked here forever, which made me kind of upset we ordered and were charged for two orders of rice that we never got, but I didn’t realize til the bill was paid. She was friendly and knowledgeable. I had to ask for sauces(do this if they don’t give you them. Fish sauce with the tiny, sliced chiles, hot paste, and chili flakes– YUM) and they were out of almost everything we wanted– the trout special and one other dish that is escaping my memory. They thought they were out of coconut prawns but later changed their mind… It made me wonder if they say they are out of things that are harder to cook that late at night… Anyway, our fried pumpkin(kubotcha squash), app sampler, and half chicken pad Thai were pretty good! I loved the sauces with the app sampler, too. The sweet, thick sauce with the pumpkin was ok, but I used soy sauce, hot paste, fish sauce, and chili flakes. Late night HH was awesome and vey much worth it. We left happy!

This is my second time dining here. Both times because a friend wanted Thai and we were in the area. My first experience was similar to this experience. We ordered wings and green beans for our apps. The beans were too oily but the wings were good. Then we got the pad thai and drunken noodles. Both were meh. Food was 2 stars. They do not the best beer selection but I would have ordered more if the server came back. The environment is dark and gloomy. I like that we could stay and talk since there was barely anyone in the restaurant from 5:30 to 8pm. I did not feel rushed to get out or pay. Service was 2 stars. I wish there was better Thai on Broadway.

Ambience. C Service. B Food. B– Price. B It’s okay for a lunch buffet at $ 8.95! Ambience. C Place hasn’t changed looks in decade. Getting a little run down and dingy. Service. B. Is okay and pleasant. Accommodating when asked. They ran out if springrolls so requested for more. Yea… Out in 3 mins piping hot on the outside however cold in the middle, and mostly fried skin of the dough and little carrots, bits cabbage and clear noodles inside. I’m surprised and happy that the majority of dishes today was quite flavorful and full of spiciness. My favorite was the curry coconut bamboo shoots with chicken and the ground pork with basil. The pad Thai was just noodles sit fried with a sweet sauce. I added chili and fish sauce to give more umame flavoring. Overall I enjoyed this buffet. I could do it again at some point for a buffet. There are so many options for other places to eat great Thai food. Ie. Buddha Ruska in West Seattle. Or Manao — Thai street food in Capitol Hill.
