Unfortunately this is my 2nd bad review of this place. I have had great experiences here as i am a regular but today when i had picked up my BLT salad and opened it at work I found a dead lady bug in it. please see picture I have put up. I understand its not a cockroach or anything but those things pee and its just gross. I know its just an oversight but bleh! it ruined my appetite. Also… does this mean they are not washing their lettuce? I just don’t know… Fremont has very few places to get a salad

The atmosphere was great, relaxed and comfortable. The food was delicious, but a little pricey for the quantity. You do not get any sides with your sandwich, unless you want to pay an additional charge.

Cute shop with all organic and good quality items. I’m not sure that I’m sold on the sandwiches yet, though. I got the egg cheese and avocado on the whole wheat bread and it was just so salty. It was edible, but not all that pleasant. It was only one sandwich, though. I like the concept of this shop and I’m not going to write them off yet! I’ll have to go back and try another, hopefully better sandwich. I don’t recommend the egg cheese avocado, but I do think this place is worth giving a shot. It’s got potential.

I was once forced to eat a Milkbone dog biscuit when a hike far exceeded our allotted time. The biscuit was actually tastier than the Red Pepper /Hummus sandwich from this shop. They somehow extracted every bit of flavor from the meal’s components. The Beet Salad(on kale) was like chewing thin strips of wire infused leather. To top of our bad experience, there’s a mandatory $ 2 tip, though they neither serve nor bus your table. This food may be quite healthy, but completely lacking in flavor. There is free water and bathroom, just an FYI.

Good hummus and pepper sandwich. Very fresh vegetables. High quality bread. Suggestion: get the staff up to speed on what you mean by sustainable. It is the subtitle to your restaurant. I was ver happy and asked your staff at the register how your food is sustainable? Staff answered«sustainable is subjective». Then I said ok, is the meat from organic and free-range animals? Staff answered I have a list of the farm names. I said I don’t have the local farm qualifications by memory, again are the animals raised free range and organic. Staff«that’s hard to say. That’s why I am a vegetarian.» Really?! Fine for you but, you sell sustainable meat. Frustrating. Take 3 minutes to learn what you are doing there. So, I had a veggie sandwich. Annoying.

The food was great and very fresh. However, the pricing is a little high. BUT I would say that you pay for quality and this is definitely quality, tasty filling food. We had the tomato bisque and turkey sandwiches. They go heavy on the leafy parts but although I only had ½ a sandwich and a side of soup I was pretty full.

The most fabulous BLT with vegetarian chili that had just the right amount of flavor. The homemade chips are very tasty too(I’m a big fan of salty). I like the small open space too — I enjoyed hanging out and taking in the décor!

Went here for food an ended up sharing a turkey, bacon, avocado with bf. The workers were super nice and quick to remake my sandwich after they forgot to not put cheese on it. They were super polite. And the TBA was amazing. I’d say the bread was good«for gluten free bread» but gluten free or not and it was so good. It was a little pricey for a large split sandwich and chips but it was gluten free and dairy free so it was worth it. I’d totally go back and recommend it.

The sandwiches here look amazing! Today was my first time here and I will be back, for sure. The staff was super friendly and it did not take but a few minutes to get my food. Looks like all of their items are organic and free of added hormones. I ordered the roast chicken salad to go. It was delicious! The menu said it had beechers herb cheese curds which they forgot to add, sadly. But it was still a wonderful salad. I’ve never had chicken so tasty. I can’t wait to try the sandwiches next time.

If you are about eco-friendly, organic, farm to table food then Homegrown is your go to sandwich, salad, and soup spot. Homegrown prides itself on fresh, organic ingredients. The sandwiches are actually pretty good with a good amount of greens put on each sandwich so you feel like you are eating healthy :). A nice spot for a lunch you can feel good about.

Overpriced salads and sandwiches in the heart of Fremont! What do you expect for this neighborhood when PCC is around the corner? I pay the high prices because I enjoy how large and fresh their salads are. I hear they also have good soups and sandwiches. The staff have been mixed from very friendly to non-existent. I once stood at the counter for 5 minutes before seeing anyone yet another time I was promptly greeted-c’est la vie.

They bake delicious bread, serve the freshest veggies, and make the decadent and wholesome tomato soup I have ever eaten. The coffee is also good. I recomment ordering half a chicken cherry pecan sandwhich, a cup of tomato soup, and a blt salad with your coffee to go. You’ll thank me later.

Do not go here if you have Celiac’s!!! We have had many good experiences at other locations(Kirkland, especially) and decided to stop in for lunch over the weekend. I told the cashier that we needed gluten free bread on one sandwich and that it was for an allergy, not a preference. She said she had marked allergy, but we were still given gluten bread. The staff preparing the food is not attentive and I suggest NOT going there if you have a serious gluten allergy. Very disappointed.

My daughter and stopped here on a whim from a suggestion from the customer service rep at Warby Parker across the street. We are sure glad we took her suggestion and we know why she recommended this place! So clean, so friendly, so fresh, soooo delicious, so cool, so eco friendly that I can hardly wait to go back!

Angels sang glorious choruses of praise as I bit into the greatest roast beef sandwich I have ever placed within my mouth. Apparently they make other food too? Who cares. I’m happy eating this for the rest of my life. Until we meet again, sandwich of my dreams…

This is a wonderful, sustainable café with excellent food. The Roast Beef sandwich was the best sandwich I’ve ever experienced. The French bread is perfection and all of the ingredients are fresh. A must-visit in Fremont.

This food is so good and fresh. I, lazy as I am, haven’t touched base with the manager, who contacted me below. Suffice to say, I’m happy she reached out to me and one day I’ll get off my but and get back to her! I went in today and they checked my order twice before giving it to me. It looks like they have implemented some new policies so I can get my food as ordered. I love this place, and even more so I love that they took my feedback! Thanks!

I was in town for the weekend and thought I’d check out some of the gluten-free options in the area. Walked in on a Thursday night to a completely empty restaurant with no cashier to be found. I stood up at the front for maybe 3 minutes before someone appeared out of thin air. Every item I wanted to order was«out of stock». No gluten free bread available as advertised and no soup. Sounds like they have supply problems… perhaps that’s why no one was in the restaurant. Seems like the people who came in right after me also left dissapointed.

Turkey, Bacon & Avocado on gluten free bread with a bag of sea salt chips make a nice lunch here in Fremont. The sandwich tastes a bit different than I’ve had, not sure if it’s a different cheese or the extra sauce on it. Either way it’s still good. I only ordered a half with chips and it was $ 9. Not the cheapest but a pretty good sandwich nonetheless.

My friend and I bought three sandwiches to share here and ate them down by the canal. We had the cranberry chicken, Turkey — bacon — avocado, and the Beecher’s Ham. The first two sandwiches were merely excellent. The latter is a sandwich I will dream about and aspire to build for years.

Nice people, fresh food and great location. I love the Pastrami on French with their fresh made chips. It’s comes with carmelized onions and served hot. Water is self-serve and is a great place to grab a bite before music lessons at Dusty Strings.

Organic, local, happy food. Weirdly off-brand employees, giant appropriated Chief Sealth quote on the wall, and overly earnest signage throw it off a bit.

Staff super friendly and helpful. Turkey avocado sandwich was awesome. Chips mediocre, kind of soft. Pickle — a 10! Dry cucumber soda unique and complimentary. TLT with tofu was Meh, bread could have been toasted or firmer just an okay sandwich and only 1 other vegan option. Wish there were more vegan friendly substitutions on the menu for sandwiches. Casual seating and very amazing sustainable wise and they grow their own veggies when they can hence the name.

Some of the best sandwiches I’ve tasted in the area. The ingredients are always fresh and extremely good quality, and the people working the shop are always very nice. I recommend the roast pork and the egg, bacn, and Beechers sandwich.

Delicious, healthy food for a fair price! Gets pretty packed around lunch time but tables normally open up fairly quick if it’s full. Took my 5 year old nephew here for lunch and he LOVED the grilled cheese — didn’t even leave a single bite. PS — thank you for now serving your salads in a bowl and already having the dressing on! :)

Once upon a time, my girlfriend and I went to homegrown in Fremont for breakfast sandwiches. It was mid afternoon on a Sunday and contrary to their website they weren’t open. Oh well. Then we went back a few weeks later and ordered two overpriced sandwiches from the snotty girl at the register. I paid $ 3 for extra bacon on mine! Yay bacon! Then I got home to eat. I opened my bag to find they put both our sandwiches on the wrong bread. They also forgot my bacon. I could deal with the bread issue, but if I pay $ 3 for bacon, you’d better give me some g** d*** bacon. I went back to the store & they replaced the sandwiches. We ate them & both got sick. Good thing we have two bathrooms. The end.

I looooove their hummus sandwich! If I could eat it every day, I would. I get the full and a side of chips because their chips are thick, crunchy and a little greasy. Mmmmm Obviously you need to go here to try out their sandwiches.

A great addition to the Center of Universe with GREAT organic ingredients, home baked bread of three kinds, good service and cozy atmosphere. Sandwiches from $ 7 — $ 12 well worth the price and recommend the Portobello and Goat cheese sandwich at $ 9 for a full sandwich.
