Haury’s Lake City Collision

These guys are truly the best in the business. I have taken my Ford Explorer twice for collision repair and my Audi Q7 twice for repair (what can I say, people like to hit me!). Their work has always been consistent and fairly priced. They keep to their promised timelines and they didn’t let me get bullied by the insurance companies-​HUGE PLUS! I couldn’t ask for more from a body shop. I highly recommend these guys.

This is the second time I’ve used Haury’s for collision repair. They specialize in BMW work and make it really easy, and deal with the insurance company (ours is esurance– also a REALLY good company that we’ve been with for years) on your behalf. While the repair took longer than I had hoped it would, the quality and thoroughness of workmanship is excellent. My 2007 BMW 335i looks like new, thanks to the magicians at Haury’s. Special call-​out on the quality of the paint job (black metallic) and perfect alignment on all panels. Bravo– and thanks!

Haury’s really took care of me. They went over the top in ensuring that the paint job on my Honda S2000 was done right, even if it meant redoing a lot of work they’d already done, and when I scratched it again by accident, they touched it up for me for free without me asking. If you want your premium car restored right, go to Haury’s.

I had front end body repairs done on my Lotus here and couldn’t be more pleased with the repair or the level of service. They worked well with the insurance company and made the entire process as painless as possible. I was especially pleased with their ability to complete high end work on an uncommon car with particular bodywork challenges. They also took the extra time to keep me well informed along the way and helped prep the car for transport. Great job!

My 2008 Mini Cooper was missing several clips on the front bumper and was starting to sag. I was concerned about the integrity of the bumper and it possibly falling off so I mentioned it to the dealer when I went in for some other work. The come back to me with an estimate of «more than $ 300» I laughed bc it was so ridiculous.
Enter Haury’s Lake City Collision — I asked the dealer where they get their collision work done… they told me Haury’s down the street… I gave them a call and they made room for me in their schedule that hour. I went over and in 30 min I was out the door with the clips replaced and it only cost me $ 36. Thank you Haury’s!!! I will definitely be back for other auto body needs. Excellent friendly service.

Man… there is some crazy hate coming at this spot. I’ve got nothing but love for the dudes at Haury’s.
Sure, no one wants to visit a collision repair shop but ish happens and sometimes, like the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, it requires some work.
My poor little MINI Cooper found itself needing some TLC on the front end and I finally got around to calling my insurance company and getting setup with Haury’s.
Trung and Zac were great to work with. Trung was on top of things via e-​mail and phone calls. I always knew what was going on. They worked with my insurance company so I didn’t really even need to do anything. I sat back on the beach drinking mimosas… er… at my desk at work pretending to work… whatever.
The repairs took a little longer than I expected but that was due to parts taking a while to come in but I always had a voicemail/​e-​mail letting me know what the deal was.
When I picked up my MINI it was detailed and looking as close to new as a 2 year old car with 50k on the odometer can. The repairs looked great… which is to say you couldn’t tell anything had been repaired… and I know what to look for so that’s saying something.
I hope I never need to see these guys in regards to this kind of business again but if I ever need auto body work done I’ll be coming to Haury’s.

AVOID
Summary: Don’t let the website, or any promises of quality workmanship fool you. This shop is substandard even beyond a shop that focuses on high volume insurance work (preferred shop). They don’t meet deadlines, the work is very sloppy, and worst of all they try to sell their mistakes as normal procedure. That’s really all you need to know to make a decision on this place, but if you want some of the details then read on.
A whole lot went down at this place, but I’ll try to keep this brief. My E30M3 was hit in the front bumper while parked. The hood was dented, and the bumper pushed in to the point that the radiator was nearly touching the accessory pulleys. I normally bring all of my vehicles to Queen City in Redmond (and recommend them to everyone), but since I now live in Ballard I thought I’d try somebody local (huge mistake). After browsing their website, and speaking with Jeff Butler I was assured that they were familiar with the E30 M3, and had very high standards. It was made clear that this is not an everyday commuter car, and they acknowledged that fact. They specialize in BMW.
Fast forward 4 months. Trung at the front desk was great to deal with throughout the process (despite the fact that they said it would be done several weeks previously). I didn’t arrive until almost dusk, but I wanted to get the car home! The car was out front, but it would not start which was a little fiasco in itself. But I got it home and slipped it into the garage where I could inspect it closer. Disaster. Dozens of mistakes from runs, massive overspray under the hood and the undercarriage, misaligned door and fender, bumper tape peeling, wheel paint chipped, leaking coolant, air box intake missing, bent exhaust tips, grill emblem off center, broken alarm key fob. It goes on and on.
It took 4 months to make this mess initially. We battled for the next 8 months getting all this fixed. The costs kept climbing to the point that we exceeded the replacement cost of the car.
You should know that Jeff Butler is not only the president of Haury’s, but also the Seattle member of Collision Consulting. He argues for a living, so you’re not going to win one with him. He never once said, yea, we messed this up and we’ll take care of it. Instead he kept pointing out how the car is better than when I brought it in. Well yea, it was wrecked when I brought it in! I’m not paying you to make it better, I’m paying you to make it right! He also brought in a ‘BMW Specialist’ who is well known in the community to back him up, but of course he had nothing to say in support of Haury’s poor workmanship. Felt bad for the guy being put in the middle of it all.
This is where Haury’s either chimes in with their form letter response, or they’ll make a nice reponse on how they went above and beyond and I’m just a difficult customer. They’re half right, as I am a difficult customer. When you bring in a collector car with the clear instruction to make it right, that’s what you do.
Oh, and when I went to pick up the car after a year of this nonsense they wouldn’t take a check from me. Made me go to the bank and pull out cash! I’ve said all I care to. Go here at your own risk.

You would never and ever want to bring your car to here!
They do NOT care about customers, all they care is if they get as much money as they want! They would take their sweet time, hold your car there, and extort your insurance company, and piss off your insurance company. So you either pay for some ridiculous numbers of $$ or you go ask your insurance company to talk to them again, and that would take some more time again.
just STAY OFF from this robber, bandit, whatever you name it!

I went to Haury’s to get a diminished value appraisal for my car. The man at the shop was very nice and courteous and told me that I’d need to talk to the owner, who is the only person certified to do such appraisals. The owner was not around (the day being Saturday), so I called them next Monday. The lady on the phone told me that he’s around and will call me as soon as he is free. I never got the call. I called again the next day, and got pretty much the same response (he’s around but busy at the moment, but will call you back). It looked like they didn’t want my business, and I felt stupid calling them over and over again. That’s not a way to treat a customer. I can’t recommend this business.

Amazing service from Haury’s. They are very communicative and keep you in the loop every step of the process. I had been hit by a woman and her insurance company handled the claim to have my vehicle repaired. Haury’s provided an instant estimate that was literally within $ 5-​dollars of the actual cost! The insurance company only provided pre-​payment of services for approximately $ 750 of the cost but Haury’s reassured me that they are familiar with insurance companies’ ways to try and get individuals to settle out-​of-​pocket on repairs. I really wanted my vehicle repaired by an approved repair facility for my Mini Cooper and Haury’s is one of the few that is endorsed by BMW and uses all NEW OEM parts. Haury’s made all the repairs and detailed my vehicle to look like brand new! They worked with the insurance company to obtain the remaining balance and a secondary payment was processed, immediately, allowing me to pick up my vehicle that very evening.
Service was professional and very detailed. Everyone at Haury’s was thorough and I left with my car and couldn’t be happier, despite the fact that no one wants to have to take their car to a repair shop. Overall, I’d 150% recommend this repair shop for those who drive Mini Coopers or BMW’s.

I’m happy.
–The rear-​end work on my SUV looks better than when I purchased the vehicle.
–They quoted the time as a week and it took a week to get the repairs done and to work out the details with the insurance company.
–Good communication from the Service Adviser I worked with, Kyle H… with regard to status, working with the insurance company, rental car return (after hours), etc.
The only thing I did notice is that the best way to get information to the people that need it is to go directly through them, eg. Service Advisor not the front desk. Get setup with an S. A and they will get you what you need, and fast. I got most of my info via email… and in a timely fashion.
Anyway, overall I am very happy!

I brought my MINI here upon recommendation by Seattle MINI. I’m glad they did, I was very pleased with the work they completed. I already wasn’t happy having to bring my 6 month old car to a shop, but I was rear-​ended and was not at fault in the accident.
Upon entering, I was greeted and everything was explained to me. I had never gotten into a car accident where I had to deal with anything so I was clueless to who the insurance process works. The team, specifically Kyle and Mallory, were very helpful in explaining things along the way.
I knew I purchasing a higher end vehicle it would cost more to get things fixed/​replaced. Luckily, I was not at fault so did not have to spend a dime. Most insurance companies may say Haury’s charges more for labor, so check with your insurance company.
As much as I do not want to see them again, they do great work and I would highly recommend them.

Don’t be fooled by the fancy cars they have out front — don’t take your car here!
Went to them a while ago to have work done to the passenger side door in the front — but I’m still traumatized! They were late getting the car done by 2 days — had to get a car rental for 2 extra days which was an inconvenience. Had to keep calling and calling to press them to finish our car — I guess since it was only a Honda and not a BMW or something we weren’t high priority.
When they FINALLY finished, we drove our car back and found out when they put our car together that they had left the little light on the bottom of the car door dangling out — wires and everything. We said — «whatever» — we didn’t want them to keep the car for another week just to get the light back in place so we fixed it ourselves.
BTW — they charge more than other places and their service is worse.

I have been to that body shop 3 times now so it’s not like I didn’t give them a chance. Every time I went there I had pretty much the same experience.
They never keep you updated on what they do and they never finish the work even close to when they said they would. They will tell you that a repair will take a week, then when a week later you call them they will tell you that somebody will call you back but he almost never does. Each time you talk to them they always sound annoyed and make you feel like they are too busy to talk to you.
Actually out of three times I brought my car to them, twice I ended up taking it back after a week or so because they still didn’t start working on the car and I woudl just bring it to Queen City Auto Rebuild instead, which is much better (just not as conveniently located for me).
Last time I brought my car, I told them that it needed to stay inside because there was a small leak in the sunroof. I asked on the phone and then in person and both times they assured me that the car would stay inside. I dropped the car in the morning and when I was passing by in the late afternoon, I saw the car hadn’t been moved and sat outside all day in pouring rain! The second thing I asked was if they would have time to complete the work in one week because I was leaving on vacation. They said that they would but when I called one day before I was leaving, they actually hadn’t even started working on it!!! Not only that, they didn’t even care to call me to tell me about it.
The work they do is actually very good, you just need to be prepared to be VERY patient and understanding. A friend of mine brought an old Mercedes to them and they did a pretty good job fixing it so in the end sometimes you do get what you pay for.
On the other hand when I asked them to fix some rust on my floor panel, they did it but neglected to lift the gas pedal and left the pedal bracket rusted and unpainted. I would definitely expect them to be more thorough given the prices they charge.

My MINI (aka my baby) was hit by a Honda Element. My MINI was less than a year old at the time and let me tell you I was angry/​sad/​shocked/​sad/​relieved I was fine/​pissed. etc. It was not my fault and all I cared about was getting my car fixed ASAP. I contacted the dealer and they highly recommended Haury’s.
With Haury’s I had the relief of knowing they were a) highly recommended by the dealer, b) had access to genuine OEM parts, and c) obviously had tons of experience with MINIs since there are no MINI certified body shops. My insurance company was not happy since they could not save a buck or two, but be aware insurance shops often install already used parts on your car to save money. Do you really want that? Luckily I had Washington State laws on my side and they could not pressure me to go to one of their body shops.
The people at Haury’s kept me informed and gave me updates regarding the issues with the estimator and the progress of the the work on my car. They didn’t even seem to mind when I kept asking when it will be done, excited to have my car back. They are strong supporters of the customer and the customer’s rights. My MINI returned to me looking good as new. I would give Haury’s a 5 if it were not for a tiny adjustment I had to go back for, but Haury’s addressed the issue, and it was resolved quickly.

Slimy, dirty. liars.
The work is done nicely, but be prepared to pay WAY too much and if you are using insurance, plan to pay out of pocket. Stay away.

I tend to do some research before going to auto repair or body shops for major repairs. And got referals to Haury’s from my BMW club friends that said this is the place I should consider getting my truck repaired.
My experience was fantastic and I would highly recommend going to Haury’s. They provided me a very detailed estimate with detailed breakdowns of labor and parts. I got my Land Rover Discovery rear quarter panel replaced and painted that had a 11 year old paint and they matched new panel to the original paint exactly; obviously their painter is fantastic. The cost ended up being almost exactly matching the estimate and I’m completely satisfied.
If you have a need for major body repair, don’t hesitate to drop by Haury’s and talk with Jeff. With Haury’s you’ll not be disappointed if you’re looking for fixing something 100%.

I took in my meticulously well cared for 2006 BMW 330i to Haury’s after another Seattle body shop had botched up a repair (and left the inside full of stains and paint dust). Both Haury’s and the first place I went to were recommend by BMW Seattle, but from my perspective, the two were different like night and day –in the quality of their work, and in their professionalism.
I stopped by Haury’s as a drop in visitor, and Ken went over my vehicle’s paint and body work with me. I was really impressed by how knowledgeable and patient he was in explaining what had been improperly done to the car, and how the work could be corrected. He wasn’t trying to sell me anything, but was giving me an objective opinion on the work done on my car.
After my initial vehicle assessment, I went back to Haury’s and met with company president Jeff Butler and also his lead painter, Toby. We went over the vehicle in detail, and Jeff explained to me how they would approach the job, and what I could expect from their work.
My experience with Haury’s was superb, as they were very professional, both in their workmanship and in their customer service –these guys really know how to operate a business properly, and to produce excellent results, even for the most detail-​oriented of customers. My car was returned to me three days after dropping it off, in showroom condition, with the paintwork looking just brilliant (and the interior clean!). (No exaggeration about the showroom condition; I’m very particular about washing and waxing my car, and I’ve never gotten my paint to shine like that; the car looked brand new).
One final point is with regards to customer advocacy. I got to witness Jeff Butler present a very compelling case as to how Haury’s provided more specialized and appropriate BMW repair to an insurance company representative who was trying to push his company’s recommended body shop. This wasn’t my business, but I couldn’t help overhearing the conversation, and was very impressed by how Jeff was strongly advocating on behalf of his customer’s right to choose her own body shop; I’ve dealt with this attitude from insurance carriers, wherein they try to force you to use one of their «preferred vendors,» and was very impressed to witness Jeff leave the rep dumbstruck with valid points. It made a strong impression on me, and if you care about your car, it is yet another reason to go with Haury’s.
Haury’s has a «small business» vibe to it, where you get to work directly with the company’s president, yet they have very high standards for integrity, for how they run their operation, for their advocacy on behalf of customers, and for the work they produce. –It’s really refreshing to work with a business like this, and I highly recommend them for autobody and paint work, and for automobile detailing. Don’t be impressed by gimmicks like an autobody shop having flat screen TV in their lobby, or any garbage like that; the people at Haury’s are honest, they take both their work and their customers seriously, and they produce excellent results. These guys are car enthusiasts themselves, and they’ll take excellent care of you and your vehicle.

Jeff is amazing, and was very helpful in explaining my legal rights after my car was horribly damaged. All I wanted was what was fair– and the only fair solution was a full repaint on the car. The damage was that extensive. I eventually won the claim, a major victory considering the age of my car.
During this loooong process I spent a lot of time in Haury’s office. I drive a nice collectible german sports car and as such I get more favorable treatment say with valets, shops, etc. It just is what it is, right? Well, that does not matter at Haury’s. I watched folks with old American jalopies or e-​common-​y Japanese cars visit Jeff and Zac for help with their car and their claim. The same gracious and patient service that was extended to me was extended to them!
Other reviewers here are correct. Insurance companies (like mine) will try to steer you away from Haury’s. That is wrong, and against the law. Haury’s gets this kind of flak from them because they have chosen not to take insurance contracts. Doing so would degrade the quality of their work. What that means is they will not cut corners unless YOU want them to. YOU are in control of your repair at Haury’s…not your adjustor. That is the major difference with this shop– they work for YOU.
One more thing: as a higher-​end car driver I HATE IT when the insurance company sticks me is a bubbly little 4-​cyl go-​kart. That is probably more painful than the accident itself!
But Haury’s has the solution to that problem– their rental program has what they call the ‘Ultimate Rental Car’, an E92 M3 (REALLY), and a very nice assortment of other FUN cars. Check it out!
