I’m disappointed that Victrola bought this place… still love it thought

Despite what the title says. this place is OPEN?!! .Maybe Victrola bought them but Galaxie is alive and kickin. Our first neighborhood coffee shop! We are so lucky for this addition on Beacon Hill and I’m so glad it was them. This place has excellent coffee and excellent staff.

Effective September 2008, Galaxie is now Victrola Coffee(V3).

I would like to second what another reviewer said. I love the coffee here, I always find the staff to be super-friendly, but I just cannot tolerate the obnoxious children that frequent this place. Every time I have been here there are children running wild all over the place shrieking. It’s impossible to work in there, but it’s not even easy to have a conversation with a friend. This is far from the only coffee shop in Seattle with this problem. I do not understand why parents think having coffee with their friend in public entitles them to babysitting by baristas and other patrons. Ok sorry, rant off. =)

In a neighborhood absolutely desperate for easy, family friendly food of any type, Galaxie falls short. Their coffee is great, but the staff are consistently inattentive if not rude and the selection of patries and food items(prepacked, grocery store level salads and sandwiches from a cold case, vegan cookies in celaphane), are incredibly disappointing. Galaxie could rake in the business if they 1.) replaced or retrained the staff, 2.) brought back the baquette sandwiches that they used to serve, 3.) Added a daily soup or fresh salad and 4.) carried consistently fresh, non-vegan pastries. The interior could also use some visual interest, such as local art and colorful walls. The owners seem fantastic and they already have the espresso making down but, for the same money, I can still get great coffee, plus food, booze and fantastic, attentive service at Java Love.

A couple months ago I came here on the LAST day of serving baguette box sandwiches. Now they have a fridge full of prepackaged mediocre sandwiches. I made the mistake of buying a caprese sandwich from this fridge and it was soggy and tasteless.

Galaxie is a shining star on Beacon Hill(pun intended). There is a dirth of coffee houses up here on the Hill that serve good coffee so I am very grateful to have Galaxie that is just a short walk away(or a super short drive on a miserable winter day). I gave it 5 stars based on the coffee and eats and FREE wifi but I would give it 3 stars based on comfort and noise.

Not much coffee shop about Beacon Hill and this is the only one I could find around while killing the time for fixing my car. It is a great place to hang out and drinking a little espresso there. Decent drawing on the wall and stylish interior but it was little hot inside…

I live on McClellan, so Galaxie is a bit of a stretch when I need caffeine. However, for really really good coffee and donuts, it’s worth the stroll. It’s hip but welcoming. Nice folks. Kid-welcoming with activities and baristas who know how warm to steam the vanilla mail. And really, really good coffee.

This place has great products. Free wireless and great staff. My favorite place to walk for a good cup of espresso.

Another great coffee shop in south Seattle for the coffee connoisseur. Victrola coffee is one of my favorite local roasts. The staff is friendly and make lovely mochas. Their baguette box sandwiches are tasty too. I love the map of the neighborhood but suggest they put street names up there. Not sure if my house is on there as I live in Columbia City. Also the tables are a bit wobbly and I have mussed up my perfectly poured coffee once or twice so beware!

Great staff, beautiful open space. They serve Victrola and know how to pour it — near perfect lattes. The fact they carry Baguette Box sandwiches ain’t shabby either. Decent baked goods selection, very clean bathrooms, good place to plug in and work the afternoon away.

This place helps enhance the local feel of the Beacon Hill community. Great taste and designs for the soy latte’s. Friendly staff and you don’t have to travel to capitol hill for a great cup of coffee. Keep SB and Ho Schultz out.

Thank you Galaxie for coming to Beacon Hill and bringing Victrola Coffee and Baguette Box sandwiches with you. This is an ideal neighborhood coffee shop with a very friendly staff, delicious coffee, and the«put a pin in your house on the map on the wall» installation is rad!

My idea of the neighborhood coffee shop. Woody and Yen are the owners and their head barista pulls a mean shot of Victrola coffee. It’s small but they’ve done the best they could with the spot they have to put in as many tables as they could without making the place cramped. I haven’t had the box sandwich lunch but they are really popular. They care about the neighborhood as they live in the area and they are always eager to support other businesses and events in the area. Come in, sit a spell and enjoy. Parking in the back if there’s nothing on Beacon Avenue.

I recently moved into the neighborhood(Beacon Hill) and have fallen in love with Galaxie. Its very unexpected and a great addition to Beacon Hill. It has a very cool vibe and really a friendly/helpful staff. The coffee is phenomenal(Victrola) and although I haven’t tried one yet, the Baguette Box sandwiches look delicious. They serve pastries as well. The free WIFI is also a bonus. Highly recommended.
