The bartender was a complete jerk. My wife ordered a cocktail that required 5+ ingredients. This dude rolls his eyes and proceeded to make the drink with a huge attitude, angrily, throwing the bottles and hitting customers with the ice cubes in the process. He cursed multiple times as he complained about how dark it was in the place soon after. We felt completely unwelcomed. Never going back. Fix your staffing and management please.

Beautiful place. Lots of fun things to do. I am sure it is a lot more fun late at night. We came during lunch due to the lunch discount from Unilocal. There were not very many options and was really expensive. $ 20 burger! Sad part is, it was over cooked and nothing special. Maybe their breakfast or dinner is better, I was disappointed they don’t offer brunch since we came around noon on a Sunday. But it was beautiful outside and we relaxed on the sphere chair swing for a while which was really nice. I’ll come back for breakfast or late night drinks, just not going to waste money on average but expensive lunch ever again.

This restaurant/bar is located in the Motif. It’s very spacious with many tables, a bar, a lounge area with a TV and fireplace and a rooftop patio with fire pits. Very inviting especially during the summer months! We’ve only experienced breakfast here and it’s very good. The eggs are made to order, sautéed fingerling potatoes are served on the side, along with crisp bacon and toast. Coffee is always fresh and robust here. Orange juice is fresh as well. The staff is pleasant and efficient. It’s nice to not have to leave the hotel to find a good breakfast — it’s right here!

First of all, the BLT is now the only way to have one. It is made with pork belly and it’s amazing. The ambiance is plush and hip. Definitely should check it out at night.

Great atmosphere — very modern aesthetics w/the lights and fireplace. There are ping pong tables set up and another hockey(lol?) sort of game next to it! Great for socializing and just kicking back. Probably the best rooftop bar I’ve been to in Seattle! Drinks are very strong as well, you’ll get your money’s worth. I recommend their house special mojito. The food is great if you’re looking for that overpriced fancy finger food! There is something in their butter that makes the bread & butter appetizer soooo addicting to eat! Would recommend this to anyone who’s looking for an aesthetically modern place to hang!

I usually don’t have high expectations for hotel/restaurant food, but we ordered the olives, nuts, and cheese plate and the oxtail ravioli. Man, it was delicious! Im planning on returning here soon so I called the restaurant to make sure they still have the oxtail ravioli and I’m so bummed that they changed chefs and no longer serve the OXTAILRAVIOLI!!! Hello! That’s the main reason I’m booking a room at the Motif Hotel! Please let me know where that chef is now is I can have more oxtail ravioli! Thank you!!! Now I have to change it to a 4-star! ;-(When you put it back on your menu or tell me where that chef is, I’ll change it back to 5-stars.

We were staying at the Hotel for our anniversary and realized that most bars were closed early in the area on a Sunday night. Frolik was our sanctuary and a perfect little spot to celebrate. It had a beautiful rooftop bar with great décor and ambiance. The best part though was the excellent service that we received from our bartender, Ryan. He was phenomenal. Knowledgeable about the drinks and when we asked to suggest a drink to help end our celebration on a high note, He created a specialty shot with an elaborate back story of how the shot came to be. It was wonderful and perfect way to end the night. We only came for drinks, but it was an awesome spot right under our noses making us want to stay at the Motif again.

Well, I won’t spend too much time on this review because there isn’t much to say other than we definitely experienced better. Frolik was really an impromptu trip as we wandered Seattle and needed somewhere to hang out for a bit while watching Leonardo DiCaprio win his Oscar(ha — not really but they have a TV and we watched this happen). I ordered truffle oil popcorn as an appetizer with the plan to get a full entrée later in the evening. But what came out was definitely old popcorn, perhaps out of a bag, that was soft and soggy from the oil. With that in mind, none of us bothered to order anything else and left immediately after Leonardo’s speech about protecting nature. As other’s have said, the ambiance is pretty cool but service is lacking for what you pay for.

Very nice establishment! Great rooftop views of the surrounding downtown Seattle buildings and of Puget Sound. A bit unorganized when it comes to getting a table and getting drinks outside to the rooftop area. They may have been understaffed that night. Overall, everyone was nice and accommodating. Def check this place out!

Bar is Beautiful, Drinks were good. But Frolik has some floor management & work organization ISSUES. This location is much better suited for small groups of 4 or less. We had a larger table with about 10 people. Firstly, every restaurant/bar needs some kind of host/hostess. None to-be-found here, we had to put together our own table since we had a larger group, not to mention we asked three times for silverware, and ended up eventually going up to the bar ourselves to get some. Drinks were slow to come, as well as the servers didn’t seem organized in keeping their orders together. Appetizers were great & Quick to serve! We ordered dinner which took nearly an hour to come, and all three burgers were SALTSALTSALTY. Location had a great atmosphere with great music, but doesn’t follow thru with the service & food standards. Very disappointed in the quality of food & service at this bar, given the price tag. There was NO Floor manager to be seen, and servers seemed to not have a system in place for keeping tables rotated. Will NOT be eating here again. Things this Bar needs: 1. host/hostess to keep floor running smoothly & to seat patrons 2. a new cook, one who has taste buds still 3. keep the dj, he was awesome 4. if a table has no food, and has waited over 45 minutes, bring some fries! diner service 101

Food was good, but man… it took the kitchen an hour to get an lunch of burgers and salads to a group of 9 people. Some people had to leave because they had meetings. When the food arrived some of the things were made wrong and had to be remade. Don’t go to this place for lunch unless you are not working.

I went here on the first nice Friday of the year so MYMISTAKE. But it was an extremely terrible experience. 1) Brrrooooooooos 2) Too crowded — eventually they turned people away, but should have happened earlier 3) Understaffed — you’re a rooftop bar on a Friday during happy hour surrounded by tons and tons of offices and only have like, 4 people working?! I felt so bad for them. 4) 30 – 45 min wait at the bar and no concept of first-come first-served I will come here only on rainy days if it’s going to be this crazy.

I’ve been here a few times recently and the food is good, prices are a bit on high side for my taste, but not out of this world. Their staff is friendly and I have never been disappointed in them or the food. The last time I went, I ordered the lamb chili(special) that was excellent! I also had the baguette, and on another visit, I tried the poutine. Once again, very satisfying and tasty. Shout out to Tayler, who was a great server, and to Ryan who made me a special drink as I had a special request. Cool ambiance and as so many others have mentioned, such a cool deck! I will be back…

Dear Seattle Restauranteurs: you can use all the locally-sourced organic free-range PC veg and meat you want; if you ruin it through poor preparation or cheap seasoning shortcuts, you are doing everyone, from farmer to cook to server to customer to(ultimately) yourselves, a huge disservice. An early Sunday brunch here had me scratching my head: how could a beautifully decorated and centrally located restaurant like Frolik be open for Breakfast,(with a full bar no less, in drunky-pants Seattle) AND be completely, COMPLETELY empty(but for my gal and I) from 6 to 8AM? Indeed, the staff looked shocked and slightly amused to see us. Now before you say, «…because only crazy people are up that early!» let me preempt you by answering, «Yes, you’re correct» and also, «Seattle has no shortage of such people». Other joints that open for booze and nibbles when the early bird is perusing his earth-bound quarry are well-attended on Sundays. So, what gives? The answer arrived twice. The cook, seeing us waiting in the deserted restaurant, came to greet and seat us himself. Shortly thereafter, the sole server arrived to get beverage and take our order. The menu looked promising, if a little pricey, so we were thinking we had discovered a hidden gem, until the food showed up. The Winter Benedict was tiny, from the veg patties to the almost quail-sized eggs– which is not a terrible thing, but it was heavily and sloppily seasoned(to the point where the seasoning was in crunchy pockets within the dish. Yuck). The Chilaquiles Verde was also tiny, with sodden tortilla strips and over-spiced pork topped with two tiny poached eggs(they know a farmer with itty-bitty tiny little chickens, presumably). No green chile(Verde) was in evidence, flavor instead provided by what tasted very much like Lowry’s Taco Seasoning… you know: the stuff that comes in little pouches at the grocery store. Bizarre… and not very good. The second reason for the lack of attendance became evident at the end of this tiny, unsatisfying meal: the bill. With tip, over $ 60 for two people, only one alcoholic beverage($ 11 shot of Knob Creek) between us. No value on the plate, frankly. Extra star for the hustle and gumption of the over-stretched staff(hotel room service orders had them scrambling, and they took good care of us anyway). Frolik, you have the tools: use them wisely to put butts in those expensively-upholstered seats.

Can I say, BEAUTIFUL?! My boyfriend and I stayed here for the 3 day weekend of valentine’s and president’s day. I didn’t really want to try the downstairs kitchen, but my brother and cousins were looking for a nice chill place to go to. While waiting for them, my boyfriend and I came down here first to check out what drinks they have, what food they have, and the ambiance of the place. I LOVEIT! It’s so chill and they literally are so friendly. One server in particular, Myles, was awesome! He was very attentive and was great with helping out huge party of 9. In addition, they have UNO cards on some tables and Jenga. We, of course, chose the Jenga! I also ordered their mini cinnamon donuts and my boyfriend ordered their goat cheese balls. OHMYGAHHHH! BOTHWEREDELICIOUS! For the donuts, they were warm and had a side of citrusy-lemony dipping sauce or CHOCOLATE! It was really yummy! On the side, I ordered their Seattle Semi-Sweet Cider and my boyfriend ordered their Hilliard’s Stout. The ambiance was chill, like I’ve said earlier, and they have a line of TVs towards the back of the room where they were playing multiple different channels. When it’s not raining, they have their open roof top bar that’s BEAUTIFUL! Fire running outside, multiple places to sit around, and with the company of your loved ones! If you are ever staying in The Motif, you have to come here for food and drinks! They have happy hour from 4−6pm as well! WORTHYOURTIMEANDMONEY!

I came here for the Unilocal Elite Wednesday at Frolk. I didn’t realize that it was the old Red Lion, which includes their rooftop deck that’s very nice. I came here with some friend to celebrate getting into graduate school. Then the first Unilocal Elite event I went to was at the same exact place… pretty cool. The food was good. We had the duck confit tacos which were pretty good. Then we had smoke nuts *haha*(sorry, I have the humor of a 12 year old). Then we also had pork belly sliders that were paid for by one of my fellow elites(thanks Erin!) and also had their fried octopus calamari, hummus plate, and marinated olives. They also served us their ricotta donut holes. I also had their pear ginger mule and their campfire. Both of those cocktails were okay but I really liked their campfire drink but it cost me $ 14.00! OMG! I’m going to have to give this place three stars because this place is ridiculously expensive. However our server Seth was AWESOME.

I’m a big fan of this rooftop at nighttime simply because it has the most charming décor. Lots of cool patio furniture, lights strung up above you, and a cool fireplace bar to sit at. When it gets chilly at night, it’s actually nice to sit near the fire to keep warm. The food is rather pricy for the portions but most of the food that my friends and I tried was good. The kalbi ribs and the fries with blue cheese were great. The dinner menu doesn’t overwhelm me and I probably won’t come back for the food though. I truly believe the main selling point of this place is the rooftop and the atmosphere. Dining inside is just like any other hotel restaurant. I came another time just to get drinks and I was a bit disappointed with the service. Only until it was later in the night was someone greeting people at the door(I saw this when I left to use the restroom) — so sometimes you just walk inside and have to seat yourself and wait for a server or flag one down. Half my group went to the bar to order drinks which was really slow. I waited to save seats on the rooftop and it took a while before someone walked by to give me a menu. Later when leaving, I had to go inside and ask for a check from my server because the bar wouldn’t let me pay for it since I started my tab outside. The drink I got wasn’t great but not bad. It was a peach version of a moscow mule but I didn’t taste any peach, just bourbon. For $ 11.meh. BUT since the atmosphere is so great and its nice location, I would come back for drinks. I guess I will be trying something else though!

Frolik is a pretty cool bar on the rooftop of Motif hotel. I wish I experienced this place when it was still light out because although there were pretty hanging lights, it was dark and the lighting was blue. After having dinner, my boyfriend and I just wanted to drink a little more, and decided to go here as a recommendation. There cocktail menu doesn’t have many options, and everything on it is a little too bitter for me. For instance, a lot of mules. I’m a girly drinker. My boyfriend got a beer and I ordered something off the minimal cocktail menu, but when we got our drinks back, I didn’t like mine at all. There was an overpowering taste of bitterness because of the gin, which I didn’t think would hinder my ability to drink it. I got a replacement drink, which was a strawberry mojito, and it was much better. It’s not on the menu, but I asked for it because I saw different drink pictures on Unilocal. When I requested to get a different drink, I felt bad! Our waiter, Levi, was a super cold dude, though. He was completely understanding and changed it without hesitation.

This is the place to be when it is nice out in Seattle. Nice rooftop with a good vibe. Comfortable seating and great drinks. The view is nice and only gets better as it gets dark out and all the lights come on. The deck has a chill vibe with games and fireplaces. Inside offers a nice bar with tons of seating including couches and tables. Great place to kill some time as traffic dies down :) great location as well.
