If EETBAR were to set the tone for my time in Seattle, if would’ve left me lukewarm on the city as a whole. I chose EETBAR mainly because it was close to where I was staying and after a day of work and traveling, I was too tired to explore more of Ballard. I could kick myself for that; there were many more places in the area I lacked the time to try. I arrived around 8:40 on a Friday to a nearly empty place. For a place with bar in their name, there weren’t many people thanking God(or whoever they worship) it was Friday. I ordered a mule to drink as I perused the menu and was almost immediately told it was last call for the kitchen. I’m not sure how the rest of Seattle rolls, but that seemed like a really early last call, especially for a place with after 9 specials on the menu. I went with the mac and cheese on special. My food was fine; the mac and cheese lacked complexity, like it was made only with extra sharp cheddar. I also wasn’t a fan of the decision to use penne, it’s not a great sauce for getting the noodles to bond with the sauce and create the rich gooeyness that makes the dish so good and comforting. If I lived in the area, I wouldn’t be motivated to come back except out of sheer convenience.

Tiny portions, bland food. Nice server and board games. Paid $ 35 for lumpia, pancit and coffee. And left hungry and underwhelmed.

Delightful neighborhood bar with a twist! I discovered this adorable spot on my first day of moving back to Seattle from East Coast. I saw the sign that read«Filipino food» and delicious smell to a small but stylish little bar in Ballard. Discovered are delicious modern Filipino food and excellent cocktails. The garlic peanuts are dangerously addictive, and so are the deviled eggs. And can i get an amen for a top-notch $ 5 Martinis at daily Happy Hours? Oh and don’t get me started with the dessert! Coconut. Mango. Cake.

The brunch is incredibly overpriced. Simple things like coffee and toast burnt, the serving sizes are disappointingly small. Despite delivering a complaint to the manager, nothing was comped Probably won’t be coming back unfortunately.

Dropped in for a quick bite and drink after work. I ordered the two«Lumpia(Filipino Spring Rolls)(v option) 5⁄9 Grandma’s recipe! 2 fresh spring rolls chock full of chicken & veggies, and a bit of peanut sauce. Served with peppered sweet savory sauce» Only it was one small roll cut in two? I asked the server and he said it was two pieces. OK… It was good not great, nothing like any of the Lumpia I have had before. It was small for $ 5 and so I will not get that again. I also got the soft pretzel with chive butter. It was very small and a bit overcooked. But tasty. I did not ask but the server credited me for the Lumpia(thanks I was not looking for a refund) Looking at the plates of others things looked really small and very expensive for the price. The drink and service was excellent but I will not be back for the food. Note: Happy hour here ends at 6 sharp. I asked if they were still having happy hour at 6:03 and the server said happy hour is over at 6.

I tend to have high expectations for places that serve Filipino American dishes. Food should invoke a sense of culture and pride. This restaurant does NOT apply those fundamentals what-so-ever. 1. DONOT get their Lumpia Shanghai! It’s not even Lumpia Shanghai because it’s not even fried, the menu should have listed it as Lumpia Sariwa instead. It was soggy and taste like freshly cut grass. In my opinion, this is a sad representation of what goodness should be. 2. DONOT get their PO boy sandwich it’s disgusting! The shrimps were not even cooked and the bread was staler than biting into a piece of wood. Lastly, the service isn’t horrible, but if you’re dying to have a late night snack don’t come to this place. There are better restaurants in the area that can offer better food.

This has quickly become my favorite neighborhood bar! Everything on the menu is phenomenal and unique for Seattle! So lucky to be able to eat good Filipino food in my neighborhood! Even though the Nitro sandwich is not Filipino, I love it! The mix of options on the menu appeals to any mood and palate. Chicken adobo, kinilaw(ceviche), gazpacho, and longanisa are some of my other favorites on the menu. Did I mention they serve San Miguel? Make your own Bloody Mary during brunch is a must have! The staff is very attentive, friendly, and relaxed. Will continue to visit on a weekly basis.

About a month ago, we tried to go here for brunch and they gave us the heads up that it would be more than an hour for food. We thought that was strange because the restaurant wasn’t full, but they were under stress due to a group of 6 that had shown up. We were able to get in today. I appreciate the location because it’s a half block from our place. I like their menu. It’s a good mix up to please just about any group. I love that you can get Finnish pancakes and Filipinono Longinasa on the same brunch menu. I was in the mood for a flavorful breakfast and the Longinasa hit the spot with the garlic fried rice, egg, and sweet sausage with the vinegar to dip. My husband got the All American omelette with fruit hash browns and toast and found it please as well. The food is solid(I would just keep going back for the Longinasa at weekend brunch, since that’s the only place in my neighborhood that serves it). The service is fine. I would say that you can’t go wrong with this place but something about the ambience, service, and food is just not memorable. So give it a try, it’s worth trying, just not 4 star category.

There are plentiful of PNW beers on tap, including a cider and Stella Artois. The bartender who was also our waiter was really nice, and although he seemed busy, he was always very generous and responsive. He would check in with our large group, just to make sure if we needed water or more beer. Though the service is awesome, the food wasn’t comparable. It’s not to say that the food was bad, but I guess due to how intriguing the menu reads, with its cultural dishes from Northern Europe and the Philippines, I expected the food to be better than it was. I had the lumpia, which is the first lumpia that I’ve ever had that wasn’t fried. Although I appreciate that it’s a much healthier version, I wasn’t a big fan of it. I also had the chicken adobo, which was decent. It wasn’t amazing, but not bad. I loved the scallions that they add in the adobo and the eggs. Those were nice additions, but I thought the chicken seemed to be a little too dry. It was a satisfactory dish. I asked my friend who ordered the Finnish meatballs with egg noodles how it was, and she said that the meat was dry, and it wasn’t exceptional. There is a loft for more seating, and parking isn’t terrible, especially because it isn’t on the main drag of restaurants in Ballard. I was so happy to have found street parking during dinner hours. I just wanted to like the food much more than I did. But I am willing to go back, to try a different dish, especially because the staff is so friendly.

We have come twice — once for happy hour, once for brunch. Happy hour has great deals and tasty food. Brunch was OUTOFTHISWORLD amazing! The Benedict was hands down the best Benedict I’ve ever had. Their homemade Hollandaise is on point. We also indulged in the make your own Bloody Marys and my oh my are they good! Highly recommend and will definitely be back

Not that great. I ordered the tomato basil soup that tastes like it was fresh out of a can of Classico. I wouldn’t even call it soup, more like pasta sauce.

Love this place. It’s right across the street from my apartment. I come for happy hour once a week or every two weeks. I always sit at the bar. They make any cocktail I ask for and they don’t skimp on the alcohol. Good thing I can walk home. Their current cook is phenomenal. She made me a New York strip that was fork tender. Other favorites are the tostis and the beet salad. Next on my list to try is the steak salad. Made with hangar steak one of my favorite cuts. The service is great and it’s fun to meet new people at the bar. Great atmosphere. So glad this is across the street.

After I reviewed the owner sent me a message and asked me to come in for a complimentary entrée. Even if I don’t go back, I really appreciate them caring enough to respond. Maybe they will make the necessary changes

I’ve been here twice now — once with a large group and a once with a girlfriend for happy hour — and both times have had a great experience. Large group experience: 8 of us sat in the upstairs area on a Tuesday night in December. We were a little worried we’d be forgotten up there, but the bartender/server was attentive and totally on it. My girlfriends loved getting Moscow Mules in proper copper mugs and all the house cocktails were a hit. We ordered lumpia to share as well as the beet salad — both were solid and came up quickly. We were the annoying group with no cash and 8 cards, which understandably gets eye-rolls from some servers, but not from this guy. He sorted us out quickly and sans attitude and was genuinely charming throughout our evening. Happy hour experience: Not ashamed to admit we gorged. Tostis and currywurst then moved on to the main menu and had the deviled egg trio, meat and cheese bowl and beet salad. We were delighted with everything. The tostis(we had the brie) were simultaneously crispy, tart, gooey and rich. The eggs had one traditional, one with crab and a buffalo blue one — all scrumptious. The potatoes under the curry weren’t great, but everything else more than compensated. I only deduct one star because there is something about the décor/ambiance that misses the mark for me. I can’t put my finger on exactly what it is — I suspect that the newness of the building is part of it. This is pretty subjective, though, so if you want a great spot for food and drink I highly recommend Eetbar.

We went for lunch on Saturday and the place was dead… Yet it still took us over a half and hour to get the two sandwiches we ordered. Really? Then we kept hearing the«cook» using the microwave. Do what you have to, but I really do not want to hear you using the microwave to prepare a sandwich I’m about to pay $ 13 dollars for! I got the portobello sandwich which was pretty bland. The mozzarella was cheap and flavorless — not the fresh mozzarella that should go on a sandwich like that. The only good part was the dip the sandwich came with. I also got the potatoe and leek soup that was a special. It was luke warm and flavorless. I really wanted this place to be awesome because it’s right around the corner but it definitely not. I rather walk a few extra blocks to other bars/restaurants than waste my money here again.

We used to frequent the previous bar because it had great atmosphere and nice servers and bartenders. On our last visit after it changed to EETBAR we were not satisfied with our food, which seemed lackluster and average, or the service, which was downright terrible. The older guy who was tending bar was horribly slow and seemed a little unsure of what he was doing. We waited too long for food, too long to have our plates picked up and had to come to the bar to pay our bill, as we weren’t helped at our table. We had a salad(decent but overdressed with a tar-like balsamic on the plate that was just strange) an egg dish that was rubbery and cold side and the Filipino sausage plate with egg that was the sole bright spot of the day. Perhaps with time they can iron out the kinks, but not sure we’re interested in giving it another try.

Service was nice but the drinks are overpriced and the food was terrible. Ordered the pretzel. I’m sorry but it’s no better than the ballpark crap you can buy in the supermarket frozen food section. Can’t believe this costs $ 5 on the regular menu. Ordered the currywurst. Basically a boiled bratwurst served with ketchup with curry powder mixed in. It’s laid on a bed of potatoes. Some of them were mush, some of them were still crunchy/raw on the inside. Pretty Unbelievable that they are serving this with a straight face. Only four beers on tap for a euro pub? Again the service was nice. But not enough to bring me back.

Great location off Market in Ballard. Fun diner/bar feel. Good size for a casual meal and the ambiance is awesome. The menu was to die for and changes often. Upstairs with darts and tons of board games. The food inspirations are supposedly from all over the world. Because I can’t resist my cheese and carbs, I had the grilled cheese with jalapeño on Larsons bakery bread, and tomato soup. Holy moly, dying of the perfect amount of spicy with cheese combo and gourmet soup. After the perfectly portioned grilled cheese I keep looking at the menu wanting to order all of it(too bad I’m on a roll with my diet) seriously I want every single thing. The chef rocks. She is super friendly and awesome! She is innovating comfort food and bringing it to a new level of rocking. No, I’m serious… she came out and talked to me about ideas to add to the menu. This place is where people«know your name» What else looked good to me on the menu: Filipino sweet sausage with a fried egg, Mac and cheese, meat and cheese bowl, deviled eggs, delicious sounding variety of Sammy’s. Did I mention the build your own Bloody Mary!!! With an almost endless list of yum… Yes please. Oh wait one more thing… they make their own infused alcohols.(I haven’t sold you yet!!! Get on it Ballard and beyond people!!)
