Loved it. Got the redrum, and my date got the blackbird. Both were very good. Reminds me of the smaller bars in japan. Very cozy. Want to go back and try more of their drinks.

Small and bustling with people. Despite that the noise level was not too bad. Not a lot of seats available so this is more of a «quick stop for a drink and a chat» rather than«staying all night and have long discussions over a long line of drinks»… The drinks were OK — had better, had worse.

Exploring Ballard and its many gems I ventured into this place for a cocktail. Tasty drinks and bartenders were nice. The space has interesting décor, a tad too dark for my taste and a bit small. There was luckily a few open seats upstairs on this particular Saturday night so we got to enjoy our drinks by candlelight. Cute space. It’s like going to a house party in some ways.

Cute spot, but very small. There are only a handful of spots to sit, so get here early if you want to really relax with your drink. Not really good if you have a group larger than 3. Drinks were crafted with care and the bartender will also just take any ingredients you want and make them into something awesome. Happy hour is a good deal too. No food.

Drinks are classy and specialty and a bit expensive but it is a fun atmosphere to start a night off right. They need a fan or more ventilation upstairs though it’s too stuff up top.

Nice spot! I got the Blackbird cocktail and it was very good(the champagne taste is the most powerful flavor in the drink). Drinks take a bit of time to make and I wish it had been a little less crowded, but still a nice spot with a great atmosphere that I would return to in a heartbeat.

Good place to grab a quick cocktail. Not much seating but delicious cocktails and friendly staff.

Go there when Keith is working, you won’t regret it. He is a great bartender and an excellent owner. Have a dark and stormy, enjoy the atmosphere, then have another dark and stormy. Plan it out right and after a few, you can head to La Isla across the street for some food. Simply a great joint that is copied by many others.

Good grief I love this place. The bartenders have always been really friendly to me, the atmosphere is tiny but super chill and most important the drinks are delicious. Two snaps up!

I did not love the ginger bourbon drink we ordered here. They desperately need to get rid of the cheap frames, and the«This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things» sign — it ruins the ambiance/feel/brand they’re trying to create.

Fantastic! There was a big white dog and his owners downstairs who were so friendly. The bartenders were delightful and the drinks were delicious. The loft upstairs was very relaxing and so laid back. Not a place for big crowds but great for lounging and talking with friends. And bringing your dog with you to a bar Hazlewood is dfinitely a place I’d take my friends to next time I’m up in WA.

Came in for a drink last week with my sister. The bartender was surprisingly friendly(sometimes I don’t expect stellar service at trendier locales). It’s really neat inside. Just a big open space downstairs, with seats at the bar, and a bench along the wall, then tables and actual seating upstairs. The ambiance is great. I imagine it can get a bit noisy on the weekends. We tried a couple house cocktails instead of our usuals. I had a nice gin and bitters and something else drink that I believe was called the Prohibition? It was sweeter than my usual(gin and soda) of course, and I’m quite picky about sweetness, but it was pretty perfectly balanced in my opinion for the mood I was in. I was pleased. A really nice spot.

Looking to escape from the insane rioting after our big Superbowl win, I found myself at Hazlewood for the first time. Since this experience I have been coming back for more! I like it on weekdays(and the occasional Sunday) when it is less crowded. Rachel is an amazing bartender, because of her service during my initial imbibement, I have returned. Not to make the others feel left out, the times I have been here they all have lovely personalities(friendly!) and know what they are doing. Drinks choices can be really creative and this is primarily a cocktail bar, so keep that in mind. Small upon first glance, but they do have an upstairs! The upstairs is where it is at. It might be my favorite place to kick up my feet in the neighborhood. Dark and brooding after a few Manhattan’s I feel like its my secret Ballard lair.

I liked Hazlewood. It’s a very small space, 2 stories, with around 4 – 5 small seating areas upstairs. The drinks are reasonably priced here($ 8 – 11) for a really tasty drink. They have drinks listed, but are more than accommodating if you prefer a certain liquor over the other. I tried the bird’s feet drink which I subbed w/gin instead of vodka. They use fresh squeezed juice and my drink was very refreshing. I also tried a couple other drinks, a ginger something and a drink that tasted similar to a Manhattan. One thing that was consistent across all drinks was that they were all strong. You definitely get your money’s worth here. Service wise, it was somewhat busy when we came in, but we managed to snag a couple seats upstairs on a Friday night. It’s quicker to go down to the bar and order than to wait for a waitress to come up to you.

Unlike most Seattle lounges where I would rather digest a loaf of moldy bread and subsequently wreak havoc on my toilet with a manic diarrhea episode, I can actually stomach Hazlewood 2 days out of the week. During weekends, when this place inevitably overflows with people, your group will be consumed by noise. Shrieking in close proximities and making exaggerated hand movements are your only methods of communication. Trying to get a drink will be a chore as the bartenders, underneath their calm façade, are encumbered with the neverending drink queue. One evening, I kept getting sandwiched between different men while attempting to get the bartender’s attention to order my drink. It was like commemorating my awkward boarding school dances filled with freak trains and mismanaged erections. I admired those chaperones’ inability to gag. The only days I’ll come are weekday evenings before Thursday and after Sunday because navigating a sweaty neck beard maze when the liquor isn’t pouring quickly enough isn’t my ideal way to spend my nights. Other than that, I’ve had good times with friends and acquaintances alike here.

Very cute micro-bar with hard liquor. There’s a little bit of seating upstairs, but otherwise you’ll stand downstairs. There’s an area out front if you smoke. It’s good if you want to hang out for a drink or two either before or after dinner in the area. It’s way too small to be raucous(which is good) or to linger in very long. They don’t have food of their own, but will let you bring some in if you want to snack while you drink. The place is named for musician Lee Hazlewood, which is why it’s spelled wrong.

This is a cute little bar– try the Witch’s tit! Only con is that sometimes smoke from the outdoor space can drift into the bar itself when the door opens.

I was pretty underwhelmed but maybe it was just a crazy off night. The place was packed(the bouncer said it was their 8th anniversary) and it was impossible to have a conversation. Which is sad considering there’s a nice couch area upstairs. And I know the place is small, but it was like crazy humid … now I understand why literally everyone was standing outside, stuffed to the max in the tiny patio area. I think their drinks are probably fine but I just didn’t think the atmosphere was all that enjoyable. Maybe I’ll stop on by again when it’s not so busy but with so many bars in the area with good drinks, etc … it definitely didn’t stand out.

I really have to agree with most of the reviewers’ reviews because this place is a small speakeasy-type bar with two floors and one bathroom. The chandeliers are quite fancy and for some reason the bar area reminded me a little of Grim’s on Capitol Hill but smaller. The cocktails are stiff so you definitely get your money’s worth. The upstairs area was a bit empty when our group came in on a Saturday evening and we did a little feng shui so that we could make room for all of us. They didn’t seem to mind that we moved one of the couches over to the other side with the table. That was convenient! I’d definitely come back here for drinks because it’s a nice spot to catch up with an old friend or something. It’s chill and not as crazy as BalMar or the other neighborhood bars in the area.
