I’ve just finished what must be the umpteenth portion of classic pad Thai with crispy tofu from the Buddha, and I can’t wait for the umpteen-and-one time I get to ravish a takeout box of this delight. I was a longtime fan of Mae Phim’s and I’m not altogether unpleased with the likes of Racha, Thai Ginger, Thai Heaven. When you can consistently never get enough of this dish from the Buddha, well… that’s something special. Most of the time, they get my order right. Other times, it’s not a complete disaster. The servers are always cordial, even if I’m just in there to pick up a quick lunch.

I ordered the garlic tofu combo, which came with two scoops of rice, a hot orange slice, phad thai for about $ 9. The garlic tofu was pretty bland, but the tofu itself was crispy and delicious. The rice was puffy and overcooked and the phad thai was overly sweet. The portions also seemed a bit small. The main problem here was the service. We ordered a Thai iced tea and on the glass, there was fresh lipstick on it. And not a stain, it was fresh enough to come off on my fingers when I pointed it out. The girl quickly made a new drink, but left the

Of all places, this is where some of my Greek friends get together to meet up and catch up. Fitting, right? Anyway — it’s your run of the mill bar/restaurant in Belltown. It’s not bad but the service can be lacking if it’s busy. Drinks are cheap and strong, the space is large and the décor is okay too. Nothing really amazing but it’s far from the worst places I’ve been in town. I haven’t tried the food but it looks like I’m missing out! I’ll have to come back. In fact — I’m hungry right now… hrmm.
