Friendly service, excellent food. Simple, no frills neighborhood eatery. A few stools at the counter, 4 booths and a few more tables. We shared the chicken and sausage gumbo and a blacken cat fish poboy. Both were spot on. Definitely an excellent value for the money.

Avoid. Red beans and rice a joke. Place is not clean. Save your money. Stopped in real quick for a bowl of red beans and rice and didn’t finish it. No flavor

Finding ourselves walking around Pikes Place on New Year’s Day left us with limited options in the area as visitors. we walked by this spot and decided after a second round of the area, a go. We were greeted by a kind man who seated us quickly. We decided on chicken gumbo and seafood gumbo and side of baguette. The food did take a while to get to us so we munched on the complimentary crackers. The gumbo, while Hearty with proteins and rice, was lacking. The place has a nice family atmosphere but just missed the mark on the food.

The food here is amazing and the price is more than reasonable. The customer service is one of the best I’ve had in Seattle. A must visit for people who don’t want to pay too much for a pike place resto.

Good selection of coffee and teas. We had the seafood jambalaya and the Cajun shrimp po boy. Good food, slow service but it’s a small and cute little place.

We popped in here for breakfast. It was delicious! I had the red bean omelet and my husband had the corned beef hash. The best part of both were the Yukon potatoes. Mmmmm. The coffee was tasty and a perfect temp.

Eh. It’s ok. I wouldn’t eat here again. The chicken sausage is bomb. The rice and beans were bland. Too many beans for my taste. My friends gumbo was pretty decent though. Service was nice. It was mediocre. When I think ‘Cajun’ I think, FLAVOR and spice. Didn’t get that.

Another good place with home cooked food. The closest to Cajun we can get in the PNW.

I ordered seafood jambalaya, and got seafood and sausage in dark gravy with a few scraps of green pepper poured over steamed rice. In other words, these people have no idea how to make jambalaya.

I thought this was a wonderful stop — had some lunch I highly suggest poboy. Owner was very nice I recommend stopping here for the poboy. The bread was fantastic!

Nice couple who works at/owns this restaurant but I grew up eating creole food and this isn’t it. My boyfriend and I both had upset stomachs all day shortly after eating here. In hindsight, I regret not just going to my favorite El Borracho’s next door. I’m not coming back.

Seemed like a tourist trap restaurant, and today I was a tourist. First time in Seattle showing my brother Washington state. Should have realized since there wasn’t one person eating inside that was a sign. A big sign. I ate two small spoons of my cup of gumbo. The rice and shrimp tasted old, couldn’t eat anymore. I heard the microwave timer going off in the back… not something U want to hear… There was a black short hair in my Cesar salad, and the two people didn’t even ask or care it looked like. We just paid the bill and left. By all means. Good luck if you eat here.

Couldn’t even decide whether or not we wanted to eat here, as the moment we walked in the door and told the guy who greeted us that we wanted to look a menu he told us to go back outside and look at the one in the window. I told him we wouldn’t be staying to eat if we weren’t welcome to stand inside and look at a menu and he said«ok thanks!». Will not be back. There’s just no need to be rude.

We are new in town and needed something besides bread for breakfast. The service is slower because there is just a couple working/running the place. But the locals come here and the food is really good. Hot chocolate was made with steamed milk. Yummy. Nice and chocolatey. The coffee was good and we sat by the window and watched the locals and tourists. If you are not in a hurry and want some good spicy turkey sausage, this is the place for you.

It’s good, but not the greatest. I have had better Gumbo and Jambalaya but the owners are real sweet. The only reason I’d come again is because of their good nature. They are a tad overpriced though for what they are offering.

Summary: No. Never again. Food: Ordered the Gumbo and Jambalaya and both were so extremely bland. I saved the corn bread until the end as a last hope to be something of quality, boy was I wrong. I’ve never had such bad corn bread. Took one bite and stopped. Service: Slow. Only one couple inside, and two of us. Took 25 minutes to get our food. After getting our food it’s as if we stopped being served. Value: It’s not expensive, but it’s also not a good value. Location: Conveniently in Pike’s so unsuspecting tourists are likely the only reason it’s still in business. Inside looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. Thankfully they had sidewalk seating. Comments: Just say no.

Another tricky one to review. Our gumbo was a bit too spicy, but the worse offender was that the sauce just wasn’t so tasty. We were hungry though so we ate it, the chicken was a bit drier than the one in my moms salad but the shrimp was good. My moms salad and grilled chicken was quite good. She asked for the chicken to be piping hot and it was. The lettuce was fresh and crispy. The fries were good. This would be a 3 star except for the fact that the waiter who could have been a manager or owner, was super nice and friendly, which to me is as important as food quality. I would come back and try other items on the menu that looked good.

I should’ve checked my Unilocal before coming here! Three of us were ready to tackle a day at Pike’s but we needed a simple meal first. We were hoping for something hearty, inexpensive and quick. Well…we got our food fairly quickly. Kind of. Specifically, we came in for breakfast. It’s a simple diner type of place that looks like it would be in a low budget movie about New York – a slightly grimy, blue plate special type of joint that looks like it’s seen better days but has a slight charm about it. Each of us ordered different things – I had eggs, a chicken Cajun sausage and the orange brioche French Toast, the others had pancakes and an omelette. My breakfast was good. It wasn’t anything special, and the FT was definitely not on brioche nor did I taste anything orange, but it was ok. The other two diners I was with couldn’t even finish their meal. they left most of it behind. The pancakes were the worst, and at $ 9 for two pancakes and nothing else, it was a waste of time, food and money. The omelette meal came with toast but it was burned black, so it was inedible. The server did offer to make another piece, but our food took a while and we didn’t want to wait on bread after a disappointing meal. The three of us ate for over $ 50 not including tip, which was steep considering this was a run of the mill breakfast place at a run down diner. We were all very let down. Our server was very friendly and did his best, but he seemed almost surprised he had customers and perhaps that should’ve let us know how bad the food here truly is. Tasted NOTHING like anything I’ve ever eaten in the South.
