I really enjoyed my afternoon at Firehouse. My only issue is that it took the four people behind the register a while to acknowledge me. This place has free wifi that you can use. The one on one seating is not super comfortable, but it gets the job done and it feels pretty private. I ordered a chai latte with Almond milk. They also have soy abd rice milk for the non-dairy folks out there. Although I didn’t get anything to eat, the options looked very appetizing!

Super friendly staff and quality coffee and tea. The baristas went out of their way to find a specific tea for my husband. Cozy atmosphere too!

The barista/cashier at the drive through window had a seriously black eye and large cuts on his face. When we had ordered and he was handing us the credit slip, I saw that he had large open(un-covered) wounds all over his hands. The drinks went in the garbage. I like supporting local, but not risking a blood borne pathogen to do it.

Terrible service and wifi«does not work all the time» as one of the employees told us. We asked him to try and reset the router and he said«It will just go out again, our internet is just like that»…Okay!

Put in my order, and someone stole my drink while I was waiting. Then they gave me attitude like I was responsible for it getting swiped. Never again. There’s way too many coffee places in Ballard to put up with crap like this.

I go to this coffee shop nearly everyday and I LOVE it. I really appreciate how friend the staff is and the consistency of food and coffee quality. Also, they have a play area and are pet-friendly. What more could you ask for? Great service, staff.

I just went there and I was looking forward to an Iced Chai Tea Latte. The person making it was extremely ill with the flu and I was embarrassed to say anything because I had already paid. First of all, close to $ 6 for an iced tea is robbery. Second of all, I threw it away as I walked out because he was so extremely sick. That should really be against any kind of health code. He was unacceptably sick with the flu to where he couldn’t even talk. Needless to say, I won’t be going back. #NOTHANKS

Tina and Emily are the best. When I don’t have the brainpower to make pre-coffee decisions, they do it for me and they never steer me wrong. Without these two, I’d probably still be lost in last Monday’s uncaffeinated fog.

So very, very average. This place is close to my apartment so I occasionally grab a coffee and a pastry which are both alright. The one time I did hang out to read a bit there were children everywhere running around and screaming which is fine for parents but not so much the ambiance I was looking for.

The service was so bad, I didn’t taste the coffee. I was greeted with intense hostility when I walked up to the counter. It may be just the morning person I had the displeasure of being greeted by. Looking at some other reviews seems like there may be one person who is single-handedly dragging the reviews down. I got through most of an order, and a lot of huffy impatience, dark looks and pure indignation at having to take an order from someone who had never been to her establishment; from this person behind the counter and said to myself — do I want to have my coffee spit in this morning? Nah I’m out– so I said to her sorry to have bothered you and left. I just moved to Ballard and am fashionably unconscious, did Me not having a man bun or hipster beard or a miniature puppy in hand make her hate me before I stepped up to the counter? I can only guess.

I like Firehouse Coffee. Their prices are a bit on the higher end but the coffee is tasty. It’s a good place to bring kids. They have a whole kid’s room off to the side of the café with toys which is pretty cool. I think it’s a little weird they have signs posted saying«90 minute limit». Maybe some people try to camp out there for hours at a time? I wouldn’t. When you’re greeted with signs telling you to stay and enjoy but don’t stay too long, it’s a little bit of a turn-off. I would think the type of person who would stay in the kid’s room of a coffee shop for more than 90 minutes would probably also ignore a sign telling them that it’s not okay. But maybe not. They have a drive through and punch cards, All in all I’m a fan!

For years, this was my go-to coffee place. The coffee was great, the staff were nice, and they really went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Unfortunately, the place was sold a few years ago. Now, when you go in, you are greeted by multiple signs with lots of rules on them. The last straw for me was the one that said, «do not accept punchcard from previous owner.» Wow, way to ingratiate yourselves with the long-term clientele there. I figured if my multiple full punchcards welcome, I wasn’t welcome. Sorry, but you’re one of several dozen local coffee shops in the area(to say nothing of the Starbucks locations).

Can I choose SIX stars?! I love Firehouse coffee! They really make me feel like family. They make the effort to remember lots of customers and their ‘regular’ orders, and deliver quick service, but excellent quality coffee. Regarding coffee quality, the art of pulling a shot is no easy thing, as I understand it, and I have gotten maybe 2 less-than-perfect out of literally hundreds.(Another nearby indie shop had a ratio of more like 1 in 3 poor pours.) Anyway, this is my shop! Thank you guys(and gals!) PS. The tasty treats on offer are quite good too! (PSS. Is THIS review long enough, you greedy word-hoarder, Unilocal?)

I am still in shock after being scolded for requesting a caffe latte. Apparently it’s just a latte. This is after they got my order wrong and gave me a mocha!!! I’ve been coming here for years but am finally done with this place. It used to have wonderful staff but it’s been going down hill year by year. This interaction feels like the culmination for me. Almost positive I had the same server as Cheffoodle D.

I love this place because it is so close to my house. Coffee is ok. Never had anything bad but they do range from great to ok. I know for sure they allow dogs outside on their patio but it seems like inside they are inconsistent. Most of the time I’ve been able to go in and have my dog in there. I’ve seen other people there sitting and drinking inside with their dog. One weekend, maybe a week ago, I went in and they asked me to sit outside with my dog While I don’t mind this at all, I’m now confused on what their protocol is on dogs. Maybe it depends on the barista working… Until this mystery is solved I will be leaving my rating at 4 stars. Will still go back, can’t beat the location from my house.

If you are a glutton for a pissy attitude first thing in the morning than this is the place for you. I was asked by the«tall girl» who was very nice, if I had been helped yet and she took my order– very helpful and polite. Then that’s when my whole«glass is half full» image of this place completely was shot to pieces! The little brunette gal(kind of pretty) asked me — «what else» in a tone that I’m sure even her mother would not appreciate? I started to tell her my order and by that time she became extremely impatient and rude… and there was maybe a handful of people dining. I know people have bad days and maybe she wasn’t a morning person but that is absolutely no excuse to abuse a customer that is willing to pay their hard earned money for their goods. Do you think I will be going back???

Firehouse Coffee is a warm and convenient place to get your caffeine fix if you’re in the Ballard area. Though there aren’t any fire fighters just hanging around(trust me, I checked!), I still enjoyed my experience here. I’m giving Firehouse Coffee a 3.5 star rating, with half a star bump. Since it’s located on Market Street, it’s pretty easy to find, and their individual parking lot and drive thru option is a plus. It’s definitely a neighborhood café, with a cushy fireplace and play area for kids. Due to the size of the furniture and tables, big groups would have some difficulty finding a place to sit if they wanted to stay longer. Some of the side tables are made for just(2) people, so that’s why it’s best to bring a smaller group, if possible. I ordered my normal Chai Tea latte(of course), and the taste was decent, with enough spice and sweetness to fill up my stomach properly. I’m not a huge fan of too much foam, so I felt the drink was proportioned right. If I was conveniently in Ballard, I would try Firehouse Coffee again.

Stopped in and was welcomed by a warm cozy fireplace — and I grabbed the cushy seat right next to it. Ordered myself their special eggnog latte and a bacon red pepper breakfast sandwich. With the drive through and one barista making drinks for in-store and drive-through customers it took a little while, but I was sticking around anyway, so no complaints here. My coffee was very tasty and I could certainly taste the eggnog, the breakfast sandwich was ok but was more like something I could make at home. The cashier and barista were friendly. There seem to be a fair amount of regulars, too. There’s an incredible children’s play area and tons of families were traveling through. By coffee house standards, that’s a good amount of space for children’s play. I think they would do well to add a couch area or two. Space is also pet-friendly :)
