Remember before everyone had a gaming system and you had to go somewhere to play video games? This place is a throwback to the arcade places and they also sell alcohol for all you drunks out there. They serve food and a unique treat FUNNELFRIES boy are they’re so good!!! If you have kids they’re allowed in until 9pm because after that it this becomes more of a bar scene. The parking is horrible and the parking lot is a dirt lot with very little on street parking. All and all this is a place that you should visit because it’s a really unique experience.

My husband and I visited twice during our stay in Savannah. The first time we enjoyed some delicious and expertly crafted drinks! The concept is really cool and fun! The second visit brought us in for dinner. They accommodated all of our requests. The nachos were filling and my entrée, blackened shrimp Alfredo was fantastic. I only wish we lived closer.

Cool place, horrible service. We ordered drinks and they forgot half of them. Charged people wrong drinks. Took 40 minutes to get basic drinks and food. They said they would«comp» is drinks that took us too long but then charged us full price and never got the drinks???

What an awesome idea! Good video games(super mario!), drinks and food. They have a ton of board games too. Will definitely be back soon!

Let me start off by saying I don’t give bars five stars. I’ve been to different types and themed bars all across the country, and this one is without a doubt in my top five. I was visiting my best friend in Savannah for a couple days, and I hadn’t seen him but once in two years. So of course we wanted to go have a guy’s night and paint the town. We went to a couple other places but not really what we were feeling. He had heard about this place from a coworker and was like«Just so you know, it’s kind of a nerdy bar.» I was ecstatic when I heard this! My kind of people, alcohol, what’s not to like? So we walk in and it’s kind of dead, which I don’t mind one way or the other, but it definitely looks like a cool place to bring a big group of friends. Our bartender was really nice and funny and made our experience there that much more enjoyable. I can’t remember what my friend got, but I got the Zero Suit Samus. Now, I’m not a big fan of mixed or sweet drinks, but I had about four of these because they were so delicious. The inside is really cool. They have TVs set up with different consoles so you can play video games, and if that’s not your thing, they have an array of different board games to choose from. Continuing on to the outside area, they have an enormous karaōke tent(again, great for big groups). Then you walk past the tent and they have a beautiful garden area and smoke pit. Unfortunately you can’t bring your drinks outside to smoke, but I think that’s either city or state law. I’m definitely coming back to this place next time I’m in Savannah!

So, I really dig this place — I’d like to go back to spend more time there and maybe take a group so I can enjoy the full experience. This is a «Barcade» type place but without the old arcade style games Instead they have PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. It’s catering to folks like me… your standard NERD. When my wife and I arrived at around 9:30 on a Saturday night there were only about 3 occupied tables. We took the closest one to the door that had an Xbox 360 set up on it. I ordered a beer from their selection, which is pretty darn good. She ordered an Ocarina of Lime cocktail, which was really delicious. We also ordered the funnel cake fries which were incredible. I sat and played Portal 2 for about an hour, I was already buzzed from having quite a few drinks at the prior restaurant, so I didn’t order anything else. Service was very friendly, games are cool, I love all the nerdy and punny references on the menu to stuff I’m into. There were also a lot of tables set up for tabletop games — I’m not into any of them but if that’s your thing I think this would be perfect for you and a group of friends. As we sat there over the course of the hour the place nearly filled up — and it wasn’t super loud like most bars would be — people were engaged in conversations or games and not being insanely raucous. I find that to be a nice change.(or am I just old?) Definitely a cool place, and will definitely be back.

The concept was fun, the food was good and attractively presented, and the service was fast and friendly. Based on those criteria alone, The Chromatic Dragon would deserve five stars. I really wanted to give more stars, but a couple things were off at my first visit to The Chromatic Dragon. I discovered upon receiving my tab that there is an upcharge to have liquor served neat. Makers Mark(advertised as $ 8) was actually $ 9.50 neat. The server explained that I received a 2.5 oz neat pour rather than a 2 oz pour otherwise(such as on the rocks) — if true, that’s a reasonable upcharge. The problem is that I wasn’t informed of this practice beforehand. The menu and/or server should clearly state the different portions that are available and their respective prices. My second complaint is about their chess board. The pieces are dragon-themed, and they are all so similar in appearance as to make it difficult to tell them apart. What’s more, the two players’ pieces are dark shades of gold and silver, which are also difficult to tell apart in a dim restaurant setting. Also, one of the knight pieces was broken. They should just get a regular chess set! Standard-appearance chess pieces can be purchased online for $ 10. It’s a small investment that would have made the game so much more enjoyable.

This place came recommended from fellow redditers. We were pleasantly surprised. Not too packed on a Saturday night. It is great to have a place where you can dine, drink and play games all at once. Their«Epona» cocktail was amazing ! A blend of rum and ginger beer, yummy. We did not have anything to eat. But for sure will return for more. Their board games list is not as extensive as we have seen in Montréal but the card master there mentioned they are in the process of acquiring more. Ideal spot to grab a drink and spend a geeky evening playing games.

Nerd heaven! You can reserve tables with big screen TVs, on which you can play Mario Kart while drinking a Heisenberg. If you don’t like video games, you can grab a board game or deck of cards and play that instead. Potion shots come in a little potion bottle you get to keep. And it’s not all just a gimmick — the food is actually legitimate too! The fried goat cheese balls speak for themselves. I wish we had something, anything like this in Charleston! It’s one of my favorite places on the planet! It’s refreshing to know you could walk in dressed as a wizard and totally fit in.

We were looking for an excuse to try this place out for a while. When my sister and brother in law, who are avid gamers and geek culture fanatics, came into town we took our opportunity! The chromatic dragon is such a great experience — it offers so much more than good food and drinks. They have tvs hooked up to game consuls in front of your table so you can play some friendly matches while waiting on your food or drinks. They game selection is large and they also have a great collection of board games from classic to indie to entertain your friends. It is a great stop if you want to go out to one place to spend the entire night, because it’s dinner, drink, and entertainment all in one! The food has really cute and imaginative names, and is good solid pub/bar style food. I enjoyed their Star Wars week themed drinks especially!

So I came here for lunch thinking that it would be Bub-Ba-Q’s, only to find out that they were no longer in business. We were immediately greeted by an employee when we walked around to the side(probably looking confused and lost). He informed us of the change and invited us to look at a menu. We figured since we were already there, why not. We were also told that this was a gaming restaurant, which we saw right away by all the video game characters and tv’s with games on them. I will say, that I’m not into all of that, but the ambience was pretty cool. If I was into gaming, then this would be the place to be. So the food and service was far beyond what I expected. Like another reviewer mentioned, I can’t really call the fare one thing, but it all looked great. We tried the battered little smokies and the goat cheese balls for an app and both had the philly cheese steaks. The apps were great, but the cheese steaks could have been better. The roll was a little too crispy and the beef was more of a roast beef than a ribeye. But all in all it was good. If you are into games, this is a great place. If you’re not, it’s worth the try just to branch out and try something out of the norm. You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent food, and a wonderful concept. However, as other reviewers have stated the service is absolutely abysmal — which is why I’m forced to only give two stars. I’ve visited twice, and the last time I visited I had to leave cash on the table as my party had been waiting for 30 minutes(!) for our bill. We tried flagging the server down to no avail. It’s even more frustrating when the fix is so simple. The owners need to hire professional staff, people that are trained to handle the stress and workload of a busy restaurant. I’m not ready to shut the door on the Chromatic Dragon just yet, but they’re down to one strike.

Ordered takeout from Chromatic Dragon through the Savannah To Go service. The sliders we ordered were delicious more than enough food which came with a side of steak fries. Also ordered the wedge salad which in my opinion for $ 8 should have been a larger portion than it was. The food overall was good. The service from Savannah to go was quick. I just find it so odd that you have to use a service for delivery. Apparently the Chinese restaurants in Savannah don’t offer delivery which is what we wanted to order initially. I also find it odd how some of the restaurants stop serving after 8 or 9pm. I am used to Boston and NYC where you can get something to eat past 9pm… call me crazy!

Update: 03÷05÷16 I have been to chromatic dragon three times now. The first two times were great but this last time was AWFUL. It feels like the place may be under new management. The front of house staff was incredibly rude. It was a very busy night and we asked for a console, we were told none were available but they would sit our party out back and move us in when they were. Two hours later we walked in to use the bathroom to see parties who came in after us on the consoles and some free. When we asked the very rude lady up front told us she«wasn’t sure they were free and we should have made a reservation» the same lady who told us she would come get us! The also quit making the evee drink, which is fine but I asked if I could still order and they said yes. 20 minutes later the came out very apologetic and let me know they didn’t have all the ingredients. 20 minutes?! Seriously?! I will say they did bring me some cake to make up for it which I ended up giving to a friend because I don’t eat sweets but still, it shouldn’t have taken that long. I would understand all of this if they were understaffed or slam packed but they had plenty of staff mulling around and were only moderately busy. Overall I’m just so sad that this place isn’t what it used to be, a charming local business that really took care of its patrons. Old review This place is incredible. Artfully crated martinis and shots. Try the evee flight! The staff was incredible. We came in for a bachelorette party(we are nerds) and they made the bride feel like a queen! Awesome atmosphere, lots of cool game options and priced perfectly!

As a nationally ranked, card carrying nerd, I had very high expectations for this«games» bar. They promised good food, a healthy selection of entertainments, and memorable service. Two out of three ain’t bad. Now, the place still earns its four stars for the simple reason that I went there looking to nerd out, not dine. The service WAS exemplary– both our«Dungeon Master,» and food server were prompt, well informed, and fun to chat with. The gaming WAS fabulous: three wide screen TVs available for various video gaming exploits, a giant projector screen for Wii shenanigans, and a respectable wall full of board games. You owe it to yourself to play Exploding Kittens. Be sure to read the flavor text aloud. Being surrounded by like minded nerds, expect to get commentary on any particularly awesome/awful moves you pull on that projector screen. If it bothers you, why the frack are you at a gaming bar? Sadly, the food was pretty mediocre. We ordered the Sizzlers of Catan, which tasted mostly of grease, and the Nachos of Mt Doom, which were heavy on chips and lacking in toppings. The drinks, however, were pretty on spot, though we expected more«umph»(possibly OHGAWDOHGAWDWHYDOESITBURN?!?) from the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster. The flight of Pokémon themed shots were potent and cute. In summation: great place to game and quaff, but disappointing vittles.

how do I describe The Chromatic Dragon? AMAZING! I came to visit family and they kept talking about ‘the nerd bar’. So we finally went before I headed home and I wish I had one near Massachusetts. The gaming ranges from Dungeons and Dragons all the way to Splatoon and Scrabble! The menu and cocktail items are all themed and the quality of the food was superb! I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a little nerd in life! Staff are very friendly and courteous.

I love super specialized places: lucky for me, I live in Savannah! TCD isn’t just a Geekdom Mecca. It’s a place for all people that like fun, food, good prices and a few games here and there. What’s a better icebreaker over dinner than Trivia Pursuit? You’ll either gain new respect for friends or figure out which ones failed history in school. The prices are very reasonable, and there is a lot of variety on the menu. I can’t pinpoint what kind of theme the cuisine has besides comfortable and effortless food. It’s so relaxed so you can focus more on the gaming than on which fork is appropriate for which dish. I only ordered a shot and dessert, but I highly suggest having one of the potions. After you drain the container, you get to keep the vile to refill at home! Overall, I love this place. It’s fun and the planning of every detail shows that the owners put a lot of care into the makings of The Chromatic Dragon.

Ate here tonight and it was a ton of fun! We sat at one of the couches with an Xbox and played street fighter, had an excellent appetizer(Fries Against Humanity) and then some pretty good entrees too! Overall it was a really cool experience and the overall atmosphere of the place was super chill! The only downside of the place in my opinion was how LOUD it is inside. This may be because it was a Friday night, but either way, it’s an easy thing to get past. Hidden gems like this place are one of the reasons I love living in Savannah!

Loved this place! Went 4th of July weekend and wanted to say how much we enjoyed it here. Upon entering, they ask if you want a analog table(basic table) or digital table(table with TV and gaming system). We picked analog and look over the incredibly fun-themed menu. We also saw a game menu and after we asked about it, they sent over the«game master». You tell him/her the game and they bring it to you. We ordered nachos(yum), chili(yum), and a couple of stouts. We jumped over to the hugeeee TV and played some smash brothers. Had a blast and can’t wait to take my gamer hubby here when he gets home :)
