Stopped here for dinner while visiting Savannah. A few locals told us this was one of their favorite spots. They have a good beer selection and a huge food menu. Blackened shrimp were pretty good and onion rings were awesome. If you’re looking for a casual place for either a beer, soup, salad, burgers, sandwiches, or entrees… Then this is your crowd pleaser. They do not take reservations or call ahead seating so be prepared to wait a few minutes to be seated if you go at peak dinner time!

Pretty good place. A lot of history here. Love the old pictures that are everywhere. The food is pretty good. I have had the shrimp salad sandwich on a couple of occasions. It is usually pretty tasty. This last time I ordered the combo of ½ sandwich and a cup of soup. The next time I go, I am ordering a bowl of the crab stew. It was awesome. Just enough flavoring. For dessert, I had the banana eggroll. Very interesting. You must like peanut butter and chocolate. Good thing I do, I ate the entire thing. During the week it can get pretty busy for the lunch crowd. My suggestion is to get there early. If going for dinner, I would suggest to go early too or you can expect a wait.

We arrived Saturday evening with a wait time of 20 – 25 minutes, no problem. We waited an hour before a table became available for us. We ordered the crab dip for an appetizer and I have to say it was the best I’ve had at all. We then ordered the calamari which was pretty good and the sauce that came with it was great as well. For my main meal I ordered the Spicy Avocado Burger with the Bleu Chips for my side. The burger was mediocre but I enjoyed the Bleu Chips. I do plan to return to try different items on the menu and their peach cobbler which looks pretty good. Overall, not bad. The service was good and the other customers in our section was very friendly.

I’ve lived in Savannah for almost 5 years now and love this restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious and the service is always on point. So I was excited to host my husbands 35th birthday party here. It was around 10 – 12 people at 330 on a Saturday. We chose that time purposefully — we knew it would be slow. I called 2 weeks in advance of the party to verify they were ok with us bringing a cake/cupcakes and to reserve a spot in the bar for up to 15. They said it wouldn’t be a problem. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience at crystal beer parlor. They weren’t comfortable with us bringing the cupcakes or the balloons. They were extremely rude the entire visit. We ordered 3 rounds of drinks and a round of appetizers. It was clear they did not want to host a happy hour for a birthday party — which I can understand. However — if this is a restaurants stance I would have preferred honesty from the manager I spoke with when booking the party. Bottom line– don’t host a happy birthday hour at crystal beer parlor.

After reading the reviews here on Unilocal we thought we should definitely give this place a try. It was busy on a Saturday evening(not surprising) and we waited close to an hour to be seated. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable. She brought our drinks right away and took our orders. My husband had a couple of beers and I had a Georgia Peach Tea. That tea could be dangerous! So delicious you could easily drink it too fast and get drunk. I only had one though. I ordered the Bison Burger and sweet potato fries. It was good. Not the best burger I’ve had in my life, but I enjoyed it. The fries could have been crispier. My husband had a jalapeño burger and regular fries. His fries were delicious. I took some off his plate. My son had a bleu cheese burger and sweet potato fries. He didn’t love his burger and felt the same way about his fries that I did. My daughter had a Cesar salad that she said had way too much dressing. We all split the Peach Cobbler for dessert and it was amazing. It was a great experience over all and we would eat here again if we visit Savannah again.

Really great place to grab a bite, less touristy than some other places. The duck wings are really good. They’re on the specials menu but they have them often. Sandwiches are pretty good too and I liked the beer list. Make sure you save some room for dessert though cause the Savannah mud pie is amazing! Soo good.

Had dinner here last night. Fried okra to start was solid. I had the gumbo which lacked seasoning but once I added salt was also solid. The chicken tenders I didn’t care for because they tasted like they were fried with fish. The best part of the meal was the peach cobbler. Seriously delish!

It was ok. Came here on a trip down to Savannah after reading about how long the restaurant has been around. Doesn’t take reservations so I advise calling in advance to see what the wait is. Took a while to get seated and for the waiter to head over. It’s a large restaurant with a long bar and a bunch of booths in the front which looks like the original restaurant and then a few side rooms, which seem like new additions, in the back. The food was ok. We started with the Gawgia nachos which, to be honest, were just bad. There wasn’t enough toppings for the number of chips and what was there wasn’t great. My husband and I split the burger, which was just ok, and the fried shrimp sandwich, which was good. I enjoyed the peach tea cocktail and took one to go for our walk around nearby Forsyth Park. In the end — I think there are better burger places in Savannah and don’t recommend. But if you do go, definitely don’t get the Nachos.

The first and most important part of this review is: Save room for the Peach Cobbler. It’s the best one I have ever had and is topped with vanilla ice cream. This place has a great beer selection to choose from. Monday’s are their pint nights, which I plan to attend in future. If you like Moscow mule, you should definitely try their Elder mule($ 9). It’s fantastic. For the appetizer, I got the Agean Sampler. The avocado hummus was delicious, the grape leave was good but the taziki sauce was really salty. The portion size is good enough to be shared by at least 2 people. My friend got the Greek tacos and does not recommend it. According to him, it was not worth it and lacked flavor. Me and friend got the Fresh off the dock blackened shrimp with two sides– Savannah red rice and veggies. It’s was great but not worth $ 19. I totally recommend getting the red rice for your side. The veggie burger isn’t great here, so not a good spot for all the vegetarians out there. The service is average, the place can get pretty crowded. I might return to this place for some peach cobbler and beer in the future.

We came in for the beer selection, but I’d love to return for food. There was a huge line at the front door, but there are actually two doors, so I’d not sure which is the front. Skip the wait though and go for the bar seating, great service and your beer will always stay full. Expect to pay a couple dollars more for a pint, even though the restaurant is located just out of the ‘direct’ downtown path. Good selection of pints and chill atmosphere. I wouldn’t say this is an impressive spot if you’re looking for something fancy, but makes for a good locals hangout.

Crystal Beer Parlor is the kind of place I’d make a second home if I lived in Savannah… or at least this pretty part of it. It’s got size, character, awesome beer selections, and super-friendly Southen fried servers. Sadly I couldn’t take advantage of the brew list since I was driving [my parents to Florida]. I had myself the seafood sampler and pretty much everything was amazing, from the crab cakes to the flounder filets and shrimp. Yum. The fried green tomato appetizer was also spot on. We had plenty of leftovers to take with us that night [and unfortunately dump at the Red Roof Inn]. The only goof was mine – I left my credit card here and didn’t realize it till we were in Jacksonville. Not to worry – the staff was very cool in making sure it didn’t fall in the wrong hands.

I will admit we first attempted to go to Mrs Wilke’s, come to find an absurdity of a line as if waiting to be handed a million dollars each. so I Unilocaled and found this place. There was a wait here as well, but like 29 minutes. and we snagged a spot at the bar right away thanks to the bartenders help anyway. Austin, our bartender/server, was fantastic. We asked him for some recommendations but he said«honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on that menu». Good answer. but when given a couple options to choose from he’d tell us which was more unique, which was helpful given that’s what I was after. For an appetizer we got a special. The sweet chile duck wings! My mouth was on fire(I don’t do spicy. at all), but I really wanted to try duck wings, and couldn’t stop eating them, even with tears rolling down. Those things were perfectly cooked; the crunch on the ends was too good. I ordered the southern fried chicken salad. Couldn’t help it; I saw someone else with it and it looked too good to pass up. Peanuts?! Yes, honey roasted peanuts. they give a fantastic touch! I went with the standard honey mustard mmm, but you can swap it. That fried chicken was sooo good. My husband ordered the fried flounder which was also delicious! the fries were great too. Smart putting dessert on the menu. normally I wouldn’t even check the dessert at lunch, but there it was. and one was screaming my name. MUDPIE!!! Holy moly, best I ever had! I need to attempt to make this at home. too far of a drive(7+ hours) to come back often, haha. It was huge. we were already full and never thought we could finish it. But we were wrong. Oreos and coffee combine in this bad boy. lots and lots of Oreo crust. best thing ever. I need this shipped to me as a whole cake, for my birthday, every year. figure it out. Just do it! Thanks. ;) We then had a food coma. 12:30 lunch. didn’t eat again until 10:30, haha. Delicious! Divine! Friendly people, amazing service, no regrets.

On our way home to Florida we decided to stop off in Savannah… Looking for different restaurants that were open we came across the Crystal beer parlor. What a great choice we found! Not knowing what we wanted to get we decided to each order a burger and then split them. My girlfriend ordered the big blue burger… A huge burger topped with blue cheese bacon lettuce tomato and horseradish sauce. I ordered the N.O.G.S. burger… a tremendous burger topped with brie cheese portobello mushrooms marinated in the balsamic vinaigrette lettuce tomato bacon. Even though we had no room left we ended the meal with the Mud Pie! I truly believe each piece is hand delivered by angels from heaven!

Crystal Beer Parlor was one of the first places I bookmarked ahead of my trip to Savannah. I love beer and their website sounded fascinating with all of the prohibition history. While the ambiance was nothing like I expected(I thought it’d be darker, kind of like a speakeasy), it was still a welcoming bar and a nice reprieve from a day of wandering around the city. I was happy to find a porter out of Charleston, and really enjoyed it. The bartender also let me charge my phone behind the bar, which is always a relief when transversing a new city without a portable charger. If I lived down in Savannah, I’d certainly return to try more of their list. I see why the place has been successful for so long!

~ Consistently Good Food ~ A few years ago a friend, who was born and raised in Savannah, suggested the Crystal Beer Parlor for lunch. So glad she did! Whenever we’re in Savannah we stop by here for lunch. I love their burgers, sandwiches and crab soup. Their menu is extensive and I can’t imagine ever having a bad meal here. Save room for dessert. The Savannah Mud Pie is Amazing. Oreo cookie crust with coffee ice cream, crumbled Oreos and chocolate & caramel sauces. Divine
