This recommendation came from a local so yes, we had to try it. It was quiet this past Sunday night, which was nice given the lovely ambiance. Our server(I don’t remember his name) was wonderful and very attentive. Given all the past reviews, my husband and I were strategic in what to order especially since we have small stomachs. We ordered the following: **Bread was deeeelicous! The pineapple jam option was amazing when slathered on the warm, buttery biscuit. I ate all of it! 1) Savannah Heat — If you like spicy, this has a nice kick to it. I’m not a vodka person, so I was hesitant to order it but our server recommended it, so I obliged. Thank goodness I did as the drink was refreshing, literally tasting like a spicy lemonade. Thumbs up! 2) Crab Cakes — I love crab and saw all the great reviews for this. Unfortunately, it wasn’t our favorite. It wasn’t a jumbo lump crab and seemed to have too much filler in it. It also sat on a bed of 2 different sauces, which was a bit much in our opinion. Not to sound dorky but it essentially took away the essence of the crab. If the sauce was on the side, it might have been better but this is a dish I would not order again. 3) Pork Shank — Knowing how huge this portion was, we made sure to split it and soooo glad we did. It’s the perfect portion for 2 people with a medium appetite and it will love you FULL. We loved the brussels sprouts and the flavor of the sauce and cheese grits. Definitely get this! 4) Parmesan Truffle Fries — It came with a homemade ketchup and we could not get enough of this. The fries were perfectly seasoned(not too heavy on the truffle) and fried very well… not too soft and not burnt. 5) Chocolate Peanut Butter S’more — Yes! If you like peanut butter and s’mores in general, this is a delicious and decadent dessert to order that should be shared as it’s swweeeeetttt. Overall, we had a really great experience and would def recommend to friends and family when in town.

I got the low coutry boil, it has lots of flavor! The sides are more reasonably priced. The crab cakes are medium-sized but succulent. Get a side order of the collared greens and country-styled buscuits! The greens are surprisingly well seasoned. The chef makes his own jam to top off your buscuit.

Top shelf Gastro experience all the way around. Food = home run Staff was spot on and the atmosphere was low-country class with a vibrant vibe Eat whatever special the Chef has on tap and you can not lose Seared grouper on bed of farrow with fried shallots… special sauce drizzle… omg Scallops(peas snd carrots) will make you shake your head in disbelief The collard greens are the under-stated perfect side dish Savannah is a better place with A. Good food, good service, cool atmosphere with a delicious menu… rabbit raviolo, tasty kale salad, diverse bar menu. Tough competition in Savannah but this place held its own. Would recommend

We dined at Alure for Valentine’s Day during a recent weekend trip to Savannah, and it was FANTASTIC! Both of us were very please with all 3 plates we ordered. Their food clearly goes beyond basic flavors and is quite impressive and priced accordingly. Overall I would recommend Alure for any special outing or just a good meal. Being Valentines Day the hostess was slammed and we did have to wait a bit after the reservation time to be seated, but they were doing a great job accommodating everyone. Our waiter was fantastic and he helped us with both our food and wine selections. We both had a some questions about the wine and he did a great job directing us to some great selections. For appetizers we went with the house chips with a mix of cheeses. These were awesome, and reminded me of fancy nachos. It was quite a big plate and super loaded with all kinds of cheese and lots of crunch house-made chips. The plate was a touch salty but not bad and so tasty that I just couldn’t stop. And next came the best part… the table bread. Holy hell these aren’t your average biscuit. They were crack. Ask for more Again we leaned on the waiter for entrée suggestions and again he came through. She went for the filet mignon meatloaf with fingerling potatoes and broccoli and I had the tile fish special with braised fennel, jasmine rice, and a citrus sauce. The meatloaf was phenomenal. Being filet mignon, the loaf had far more flavor, contained less fats, and had minimal breadcrumb fillers. Incredibly savory and flavorful. There might have been a good bit of butter involved… Anyway, my pan-fried tile fish was also very impressive. It was slightly breaded and perfectly cooked to give it a slight crust. The filet was thick and juicy with lots of flavor. The fennel was quite good, as was the rice and the glaze sauce perfectly rounded out the dish. Overall the food was superbly cooked and impressively flavorful. All plates were quite large and certainly filling, and prices were on par for what we were served. All in all a great experience.

I had really high hopes for Alure after reading all of the great reviews, but unfortunately my experience was mediocre at best. We made a reservation and arrived a couple of minutes early. We ended up having to wait… and wait… and wait… Finally we followed up with the host and suddenly a table was available for us in the bar area. We started with the crab cakes, which were fine, but nothing special. I had the pork shank, which I was so excited for, but it was disappointing. It was tender, but really didn’t have much flavor. It tasted like plain pork, which is fine, but for about $ 30, I expected much better flavors. My husband had the meatloaf since he loves blue cheese and foie gras, but this dish too, was lacking. It tasted like most other meatloafs I’ve had, not at $ 32 meatloaf. I know I’ve mentioned the price a few times and I by no means mind spending money on a great meal, I just felt as if these dishes were disappointing and they also lacked in portion size. We gave dessert a try and had the bourbon pecan pie, which was good, but a bit sweet. Our server was unfortunately terrible. He kept forgetting to bring things to our table and it was difficult to order another round of drinks. I honestly don’t even remember the drinks so I guess they weren’t anything special. At the end of the meal I asked him to wrap up some of my pork shank since I wasn’t really in the mood to finish it. He never came back with it, and I had to ask THREE times if he wrapped it for me. I was starting to suspect that he threw it away. Finally he came back with a bag, which was heavier than I expected, but I was just happy he still had it. The next day I took the bag out of my hotel fridge and found not my pork shank, but a burger. This basically solidified to me that he threw out my dish and instead of telling me the truth, tried to swap it out for something else. This is completely unprofessional and not what I’d expect from a restaurant that is supposed to be one of the best in Savannah. Luckily my husband and I had other meals during our time in Savannah that made up for this sad first dinner. I’d say take your business somewhere else

This was our favorite meal in Savannah. Not as cute as some of the other restaurants in town, but the food was on point. We generally pigged-out on our visit, and this was our last meal in Savannah, so we went light and ordered a bunch of appetizers. They were all good, and the braised rabbit ravioli was delicious — the best thing we’ve eaten in awhile. They talked up their deviled eggs, but it was the least tasty thing we ate there. Value is great. We are used to paying much more for mediocre food here in Florida, so we were pleasantly surprised by the bill at the end.

I was super enthusiastic to try this place, though it wasn’t my first choice we stopped in as the place I wanted was closed for vacation. Much like the rest of the town in January. Okay, so, rabbit, pasta, blah blah blah. It was better then I’ve had and far worse than other things I’ve had — that makes it middle of the road I suppose. The burger wasn’t good, the bacon awful. The chips were great and much like something I’ve had at Wolfgang pucks restaurant only it lacked some nice truffle flavors in comparison. The meatloaf that people rave about, while great on paper, was absolutely awful. It was dry, hard as a rock outside and fine on the inside. No flavors came through as described in the menu, and I wouldn’t even call it a decent regular meatloaf. Thoroughly disappointed by this place, the service was good and the owner or manager was sweet and seemed to care if we were happy, but the food just wasn’t great. If people in Savannah are truly happy with this place, I’m alarmed at the rest of the cities probable performance. It worries me that food outside of New York where I wish to move from, just won’t satisfy at this higher price-point. For this much money the menu should match the plate. I was bummed to say the least.

Best meal we had in Savannah. Everything we had was delicious. I would highly recommend the meatloaf and the shrimp and grits. I also loved the bourbon cocktail I ordered that was topped with wine. Pleasantly surprised by how delicious this place was :) Next time we are in town we will be back!

Nice local place, a great find in the city market. Good service, food, and atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there. We did the full load from opening cocktails, a great local Manhattan with St. Germain, wonderful fried green tomatoes, and dabbled with some kale salad that was very well made. I went all in and had the slow roasted pork; fell off the bones. I also very much liked the wine selection and pricing, good quality and taste. We did dessert as well, that might be one area for a touch up, but not really complaining, just a suggestion. I will be back.

How on Earth does this place not have 5 stars from everyone who eats here? Holy moly, this is hands down the best meal I’ve ever had. Waiting? I can understand the frustration there if you didn’t make a reservation — you’ll be seated at the time of your reservation, but without one you’ll be waiting a long time. fair enough though. Make a reservation. There’s a bar, but it fills quickly and if people eat at it, forget about it. The young blonde hostess can’t remember someone’s name for the life of her. she kept going around and asking everyone their reservation name again. come on, third time outa be a charm at least. She needs to work on that, or find a job better suited, because this is a place where you don’t scream people’s names out, and you want to feel like she’ll remember it. That was a little irritating and the couple next to us seemed irritated too when she kept guessing their name and getting it wrong. Once seated, it’s heaven. Our server, Lindsey, was amazing. Service doesn’t get better than that. She has an absolutely amazing, and bubbly, personality, knew all the menu items and specials perfectly, and gave fantastic food and wine recommendations. You could tell she loves everything on the menu herself. We had a bottle of wine — a Spellbound from Cali. Delicious, full-bodied. Originally, I wanted to have cocktails(martinis, really). but my husband has a bartender license and was watching, and said the woman bartender was giving less than standard pours every time, so he didn’t recommend it. The bread is good, but not worth it – skip it to save room for the amazing food! For the appetizers we had the lamb carpaccio, and the crab cakes. The lamb carpaccio, I wouldn’t have picked myself, but Lindsey said it was incredible, so we went for it. This is the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Really. I had a tear of joy in eating it and wanted to cry when it was over. I cut every piece in 2, covered each piece with all of the ingredients on the plate, and savored each bite as it melted in my mouth. Beautiful presentation. I wish I had photographed it(I only have the aftermath photo). It comes with a green sauce around the edge, capers throughout, and a to-die-for blue cheese ice cream. which I finished off on its own it was so good. The crab cakes were actually crab. not like most places where it’s a lot of filler. They(2) sits atop two different sauces — a passion fruit tartar and a delicious mango sauce. Now, for those of you who like tropical, I recommend grabbing that pineapple sauce off the bread plate and having some with this crab cake; personally I loved it with that. mm mm! My husband had the whole fish special. beautiful display! And a lot of food! The bacon fried rice was incredible! Smokey and baconey! I will be attempting to make that at home for sure. The fish itself was delectable. I had the Land & Sea special. 2 filet medallions, cooked to perfection! with a half lobster tail and a lobster claw. wow. Served with a delicious sauce. Seriously. perfection on these staples. Desert?! Ugh, I wish. I couldn’t even look, we were soo full. What this does mean though, is they’re not skimping! Plates were great portions! If only we didn’t live so stinking far, we’d be regulars. Crossing my fingers they open a spot in Miami. ;)

(Visit of 12−20−15) My wife and some friends had eaten here a few years ago and they’d been dying to come back. The Shrimp and Grits with Nueske’s smoked bacon was amazingly rich as was the Seafood Pasta. Mother-in-law got through a third of her Wagyu Burger having filled up on the huge helping of parmesan fries that came with it. The Kale Salad special — with lacinato kale — was delicious as were the Fried Green Tomato app. The food could not have been better. The only thing to watch out for is the cocktail menu. The recipes lean toward strong, pungent flavors like clove and cinnamon which were overpowering, Its best to order a simple classic Mojito or Margarita or beer or wine here. The artwork on the walls is spectacular; Stephen Kasun’s work is featured, among others. He has galleries in Charleston and Savannah. This is not a cheap restaurant, expect to spend $ 30 — $ 40 per person. But it is worth it.

We spent two nights in Savannah and chose A. Lure for one night and Olde Pink House for the 2nd night, A. lure definitely won! It was so good, we would have gone both nights if they were open for thanksgiving! Our server was pleasant, knowledgable and on-point. We had the cheddar infused deviled eggs and they were excellent. The crispy bacon bits on top added a great texture. We ordered the poutine short rib special and the meatloaf. The poutine was«ok» and a bit dry and bland. The meatloaf was life-changing! Definitely the best meatloaf we’ve ever had! If we lived there we would get the meatloaf every week! We unfortunately didn’t save room for dessert. The biscuits and bread they served were amazzzzing!

FANTASTIC! our waiter Peter was the man! he helped us through the menu and didn’t bat an eye when we ordered bottled water, being from out of town, some of the older folks among our party weren’t taking well to the tap water at our hotel down the road. we got some drinks and some appetizers first. the rabbit ravioli is divine! the carpetbagger cocktail was a smoky tribute to my former years of revelry deep into the morning hours. someone at our table had the kale salad which I had the pleasure of tasting which was nice as well. for dinner I got the steak, rare, only way to go. others got the gumbo(fantastic) and then the other dish which was marvelous as well.

Came here for my birthday. The hostess and wait staff were extremely friendly. That’s why they got three stars instead of 2. The food was… eh. The scallops sliced in half to give a smaller portion and were not that inspired. The chop kale salad was decent but the entrees were just okay. I had the special spotted bass which was overly creamy and heavy mushrooms overpowered the fish. My wife’s low country boil was even more disappointing with bland shrimp and a crab cake with red pepper that overpowered any potential crab taste. You could do worse, but there is better in town.

I called to make a dinner reservation and I was asked if it was a special occasion, I shared it was a birthday dinner, and thought how great that they ask so that I didn’t have to say anything once we got there. We enjoyed the food. Ordered a couple of drink, tried the devil eggs, the pork shank, the shrimp and grits, the fish of the day, the Root beer crème brûlée, and the sweet potato pie. One would think and expect a birthday candle with a dessert we were paying for since the restaurant asked and was informed it was a birthday dinner when the reservation was made; however, there was no candle, this made me extremely disappointed. When we asked, our waitress laughed said«happy birthday» and walked away. There are many other restaurant in the same level of A. lure that bring a free dessert and a candle to the table, this is not that case here. I expect a simple, cheap birthday candle when I am paying $ 200+ for dinner. I am all about customer service, this is why the star rating.

EXCITING. DELICIOUS. ALURING! A. Lure was all those things. I loved the location, one block over from City Market. I love Savannah and love that my daughter chose to go to school here. The school was a perfect fit for her and Savannah a fun fit for me, her father not so much but we won’t elaborate on that. Our experience at A. Lure was excellent. We made reservations and arrived a few minutes early but were seated right away. Our waitress was attentive and had a great personality. DEVILEDEGGS. OHMYGOD! and that’s all I have to say about that. It’s a MUST! BLUEBERRYSALAD. It’s a good salad. SOUPANDSANDWICH. People the petite brioche grilled brie cheese sandwich that comes with this tomato soup is the most exquisite piece of awesomeness you will ever put in your mouth.(I cannot wait to get back to Savannah so I can ask if they will make me a FULLSIZE grilled cheese sandwich and if they say no, I will just DIE!) WHOLELOCALFISH. Analis had this and while the fish itself was cooked perfectly, I was not too thrilled with the peanut sauce. NIMANRANCHPORKSHANK. Fall of the bone tender. You could just tear off the meat with your pork oops, I mean fork! A.LUREMEATLOAF. This was AMAZING! and likely will be what I have the next time I go to A. Lure because I will be back to this place! For those of you that like spicy hot, Frank had the SAVANNAHHEAT drink and couldn’t stop ranting and raving about it! The vodka is jalapeño infused. I would smell it from across the table. :) I have nothing but good things to say about this place. I am knocking ½ a star off because there were several empty tables in the restaurant with linen service all set up but we were seated in a bar height table which are in the middle of the main dining room and these are without linen service. It would have been nice if we were asked our preference. I hate having an amazing meal with my feet dangling.

Very good and unique food. For an appetizer I had the lamb carpaccio which was served with a blue cheese ice cream. It was pretty good but I thought the ice cream was more of the star of the dish than the actual lamb. For my entrée, I had the smoked duck breast which was very good though I was not asked what temperature the duck should be cooked at and assumed it would be served medium rare. It seemed to be closer to medium though. I did not say anything it was still good, but could have been better. I will say the chef did an excellent job referring the fat on the breast. Even more delicious was the duck confit egg roll which came with the meal. I could have just eaten that and been happy. Then I ordered the white chocolate cheesecake, but sent it back because the texture was not quite right almost as though the cheesecake had not set correctly. The service and wait staff were great and suggested an excellent wine by the glass(a Spanish blend) that I really liked. I was puzzled to watch the staff clean the exposed AC vents in the dining room with a towel draped over a broom end during the beginning of dinner service, while I was there. It seemed odd in general and I thought it might also knock dust down on the tables that were already set with clean silverware etc. I think I would try this place again though there are a couple of things that could use some tweaking.

DH and I had a very nice dinner here this past Saturday night(July 4th). We made a last minute reservation(like we called a 7 and arrived at 7:30) and they squeezed us in. The service was on point. Our server(funky redhead) was knowledgeable about the menu and drinks and was around when we needed her. For cocktails, DH had the Sazerac and I enjoyed the Savannah Heat. The heat was HOTT but I loved it. As an app, we shared the fois gras deviled eggs which were creamy and divine. As his entrée, DH had the special local fish, which was an Atlantic Red Snapper flash fried and dressed with a peanut sauce. It was scored properly so the flaky fish fell right off the bone. Served with fried rice; he really enjoyed it. I had the pork shank which was massive(think Fred Flinstone), tender and delicious. It came with cheesy grits and haricot verts. Lovely experience, will be back when in Savannah again!
