Thanks for coming out to San Bernardino on New Year’s Eve. The fish tacos and fries I had just moments prior didn’t fill me, so when I noticed your truck parked in front of the Infinity stage, I had no doubts you would be next. I don’t know if it was because I was just really hungry, but everything on the menu sounded so tantalizing. Fried egg? Portobello mushrooms? Fennel slaw? Buffalo tater tots? Dang. Such a hard decision to make merely hours before the end of 2015. Fortunately, there were only a few individuals ahead of us. Service was friendly and quick, just the way I like it. California Dog($ 9.00) — You know I’m just thinking about my stomach when I did not even mull over spending $ 9 on a hot dog. I ended up choosing this one because who puts arugula on hot dogs? Well, Dogtown dude/dudette, it was an excellent idea. The peppery taste of arugula married so well with the crunchy fried onions, the creamy(barely there) avocado, the sweet chunks of tomato, the fragrant basil aioli, and the tangy vinaigrette. Again, perhaps I was still starving after my first meal, but I absolutely savored every bite. Tater Tots($ 5.00) — Everyone in the group loved these, but I just thought it was all right. Really nothing special. Just a handful of warm tots wrapped in aluminum foil. All right, so the prices were hiked up since it was catering to a large event during one of the biggest nights of the year. I’m not complaining, I completely understand. If you see this truck in town, give it a try. I think they have pretty good taste in dressing up these dogs.

We tried this place out as we were at the Petersen Automotive Museum. The hot dogs are not anything special and they are not cheap(when compared to Costco).

Dogtown was at Blast from the Past today in Burbank for their event, Gentle Giant day Upon first looking at the menu, nothing really«Stood out» for me. they literally only have hot dogs and tater tots on the menu… sure sometimes simpler/smaller menus are better but with the types of dogs on this menu, it’s just meh decided on the Angelino, a bacon wrapped hot dog with spicy salsa fresco and fried jalapeños, and a side of tater tots and a drink for $ 12… first off way too much for a hot dog meal, should be under $ 8, $ 12 is like gourmet hot dog and drink deal anywho, the hot dog overall wasnt bad, it was tasty but not a «i’ll eat here again» or «omg this is delicious» tasty. more like a «I’m hungry, this will do, but it’s not bad» tasty the dog itself was just a normal hot dog, the bacon was chewy, the«spicy» salsa fresca had no spice, the fried jalapeños were good but there were like three on my whole dog the best part of the meal were the tater tots cus they were so crispy and well fried this meal should have been at most $ 8, i could go to Downtown LA, get a street dog with peppers onions bacon mayo ketchup and a drink for $ 8 and it would be an «omg this is delicious» type of hot dog

This was another food truck I got to try at the AdultSwim event, and they did not disappoint. The trailer trash dog is almost perfect, but the chili was a little too bland for me, but the combination with the cheese and Fritos still made it pretty good. The winner at this truck is their fried tater tots, they were spot on and packed with flavor. If the line was not long I would have went back for seconds on those, I will be looking for them again.

Tried DD’s when it rolled into DTLA. 10% off for jurors is always a great time to try a new food truck. Had the Dogtown Dog — fennel slaw, dijon mustard, and roasted peppers. The dog to bun to slaw sort of stinks from my perspective. The slaw is super vinegary, took over the whole dog and made the bun super soggy. The tots were yummy though. RIght amount of crisp. Maybe I need to try a different one next time. $ 5 for a dog is a bit pricey to try another one though. Service was meh. Not the friendliest bunch on the day I bought mine. Discount wasn’t offered to all jurors. Seemed a bit unfair.

I tried the truck for lunch today because i was in the mood for a hot dog. Unfortunately, it was not what I expected. I ordered the Morning Commute. Honestly, it would have been great; however, the egg was over cooked. I was expecting the yolk to ooze out… it didnt happen. woomp, woomp! I also got an order of tater tots. They give you a good portion and they are pretty tasty… until you get to the ones at the bottom that are drowning in a pool of oil. :-(*deep sigh* So, while the truck has potential(why they got three stars), Im not totally sold. I have to give them another try because this might have been an off day. *shrug*

Visited this truck at the KCRW sound in focus event during summer. The food was as follows: California dog — so while the flavor was good, a lot of the flavors were from the additions to the actual hotdog(e.g. Fried onions, guacamole). The actual hotdog was small and lacked a discernable flavor. Basically I felt the flavor was mostly bread and the aforementioned additions. Plain tots — this tasted just like the ore ida tots you can get at the supermarket. Nothing special. The plus of this place was that despite a long line, the food came out super fast.

I don’t consider myself a woman of few words, but all I have to say is: 7 eleven hot dogs are better than these overpriced wieners.

A bit pricy when it comes down to it, but considering what you’d pay for a dog in Dodger’s Stadium, it’s worth an occasional splurge. I got the Trailer Trash and the cheese tots, both of which were really good. Despite being really busy, they’re fast with their service.

Wanted a quick snack. bought the cheese tots for $ 4. The food was ready in about 2 minutes and the guy came out of the truck to personally handed it to us. For $ 4, it came with a lot and it was yummy! Great food, great service, great price. Very satisfied!

Another great lunch option in Bunker Hill, and late night bite in Venice on Abbot Kinney. The Dogtown Dog is topped with a fennel and peppers slaw and comes with stoneground mustard. It’s quite unique, tasty and refreshing. I love it. I also love chili dogs and the Trailer Trash is darn good.(I skip the Fritos because that’s salt overload for me, but the chili is fantastic.) And tater tots, c’mon who doesn’t like tater tots? Grub.

Wieners rarely let me down. I wouldn’t say that this truck necessarily let me down, but it wasn’t anything really spectacular. ** All beef hot dog; cooked great and not too dry or juicy, just a normal dog. ** Bun; dry, white bread, just a bun bun. That’s the basis of the Dogtown Dogs. It’s obviously the toppings that they focus on. We tried the SPICYANGELENO. I was really looking forward to this one. On the menu it said it was a bacon wrapped dog with tomatillo sauce, salsa fresca and fried jalapenos. We didn’t want onions so we asked for no salsa fresca… well, we got just a dog topped with jalapenos. Dry and unappealing looking. No bacon, no sauce. We added mustard that we happened to have in our office and that helped. It wasn’t bad, but a bit disappointing. If I try it again, I’ll speak more clearly and hope to get something more tasty. We also tried TRAILERTRASH, this one was really good! Beef chili(no beans), nacho cheese sauce and sprinkled with delightful Fritos. The chili was very tasty and not too greasy at all. The dog wasn’t overloaded with cheese, it had just the right amount. The Fritos on top were excellent! I’d probably do this one again. Besides being pretty yummy, the chili made the dry bun not so dry. We both really enjoyed this one a lot, however it would have been better with grated cheese and if I made it at home myself. Not bad at all though, very yummy. Of course, if there are tots on the menu, I’m getting some TOTS! We split a side order which was just enough. The guys aboard the truck seemed nice enough; little sense of humor, smiles and busy. $ 6.00 per hot dog and $ 3.00 for a side of tots. Pricy for a hot dog, but not for a gourmet food truck dog, didn’t mind spending the money. Like I said… wieners rarely let me down but this one is a little flacid and needs some fluffing. I’m willing to give it another shot, but probably not go out of my way to look for it.

I was a little surprised to read the reviews from people who were so disappointed. I wasn’t wowed, but I was certainly not disappointed. I stopped by here while they were at Angel City Brewery and had the Spicy Angeleno and the buffalo tots. Not sure how one could describe their food as «bland». Both items were pretty good, and I really liked the fried jalapenos on the hot dog. It wasn’t a lot of food, and it wasn’t cheap. That being said, it was not unreasonable. I like the fact that you can pay an extra dollar to get grass fed/nitrate free hot dog, but I was annoyed that they had run out of that option on Friday night.

$ 6 for a hot dog was a bit pricey but these dogs were so well worth the money! Dogtown truck was catering at Angel’s City Brewery this past Friday and the strong smell of fried bacon and Jalapeño floating in the air definitely caught my attention. Since my tastebuds love spicy food, I ordered their Spicy Angeleno.(Why do non-locals use this term, Angeleno??) It was love at first bite! The fried and crispy Jalapeño on top of bacon wrapped dog added so much flavor and spice. I was disappointed that I finished the dog within a few big bites though. I was almost ready to order another one except I didn’t want to appear like a total fattie in front of my coworkers. Even beer didn’t help wash out the spicy taste after… Must follow their Twitter and hunt them down again! I’m a fan! They also tossed in some free tater tots for me too. Thanks!

California dog and tots. Good, quick lunch. Guys are always friendly and you don’t have to wait long. Plus you cant go wrong with tots. I say go for it if you like hot dogs.

I loved this truck! I had a California dog & tater tots. The arugula, crispy onions and aioli sauce went so well together all on top of the all beef dog! Delish! Didn’t taste tok heavy at all! The tater tots were crisp and you could tell they change out the oil consistently! That says a lot because my buds are hard to please when it comes to my spuds! By far one of my fave hotdogs ever!

Ordered the California Dog with a turkey sausage instead. Here’s what you get for $ 8: A bland sausage, a generic bun with no texture, lemon aioli that you can’t taste(but you can feel – very fatty), and, in its entirety, a reallyreallyreally under-seasoned hot dog. All for a whopping eight. dollars. Needless to say, my experience with Dogtown Dogs left an unpleasant taste in my mouth. You guys aren’t doing Dogtown any justice!!!

Tater tots: FANTASTIC. I think they should make the tater tots the main attraction and the hotdogs as the sides. Imagine the tater tots with all the toppings of the dogs… yum. They are cheap and you’re given a hefty serving. DEFINITELY get the tots. California dog: The flavors are good. I’m unimpressed by the bun, wish it tasted better than the generic ones. The hotdog is very thin and not particularly notable, also a generic hot dog. Service was nice and pretty fast. Typical food truck prices.

I recently had their food again at an event they catered. Same thing, I wasn’t wowed, but I wasn’t disgusted. I’m a little disappointed with how soggy their buns get and how their hot dog options are plain, plain and nasty soy dogs. I wish they had sausage or something with more flavor. Their tots, well it’s not bad, but basically your run of the mill hash brown nuggets.

For a hot dog with yummy embellishments, this truck tastes pretty good. HOWEVER, I do feel that the prices are kinda steep — Switching to a turkey or soy dog is $ 1 extra so your hot dog can end up costing $ 7 easy… Which is kind of ridiculous when you think about how many turkey or soy or beef dogs you can buy in a pack for $ 5. Sure the toppings are nice, but they ain’t truffle is all I’m saying… I usually get the spicy angeleno and make it bunless. I highly recommend making any of your dogs into a salad, they give you arugula and not nasty iceberg so it actually tastes a lot better and it’s not as unhealthy. They also give the kid in you a couple tots with your hot dog. So yes, I like this place — I just think it’s a little steep for what you get.
