Today I had the large pancake stack! Cassie said its a big stack and I was hungry. Well it was great! They were huge. They covered the entire plate!!! They were light and very tasty I might add. I also met Gina Marie. I’ll be back to get an omelette next visit. Thank you ladies!!!

The food is great, the staff works very hard, this place has that 1965 vibe all over, from the vintage cash register to the counter. Corned beef hash and beef dip are delicious, fresh potatoes(not frozen). The owners are great people. What to say about this place… i love it!

Wish they had better coffee, but otherwise good spot for a late breakfast.

Ate there a number of times. Declining food and service quality. You get a sense the owner no longer cares about the business. The waitresses are half hearted and the prices are high for this level of quality and service! Very disappointing!

I ate breakfast at San Marino Grill in San Marino, CA on 3÷30÷2016. It was my 1st time there. I had their Denver Omelette($ 10.95) plus Swiss cheese($ 1.00) and some tomato juice($ 2.95). My server, Collie, did a fine job. The food was good but you should know that it is CASHONLY(no credit cards). The San Marino Grill had been around over 50 years so they must be doing something right. Plus, I took photos.

Service was real poor. We walked in and asked to be seated outside and they said sure pick where you’d like. We sit here waiting for 10 minutes until we finally got back up went inside and told them were ready and the lady was like«oh you guys are sitting outside? Do you need menus» We told her yes we grabbed the menus by our own, and were ready to order. Lady told us she’ll be right outside. We wait another 10 minutes to finally get our order to the waiter. Another 7 minutes just to bring water. And tells us sorry we were super busy inside. Sorry lady but we are as much of a customer as the ones inside. As I’m writing this, another group decided to sit outside. Within 5 minutes, they’ve gotten utensils and we haven’t even been given utensils.

This place was amazing! First of all, I recommend going on Saturday so your can get the corned beef hash, which is amazing. We had no problem getting a seat, and the tables were very clean. However, it is a cash only place. Yet, it was still a great experience.

Great food. Adorable diner. Cash Only. CORNEDBEEFHASH!!! I grew up around the area but only recently started coming regularly on Saturdays. Why Saturdays? San Marino Grill has the best corned beef hash I’ve ever had and it is ONLY served on Saturdays. How they manage to mix mosh all those ingredients and still keep the hash browns crispy is beyond me, but I thank you for it. The diner embraces history and has photos hanging along the walls showing how San Marino has developed into the city it is today. Pair that with the cozy red booths, a few dollar pancakes, and a hot cup of joe and you’re in for a laid back Saturday morning.

Great food. Chicken sandwich, french dip, Coke slaw. Very good . We didn’t like the potato salad that much but the owner ??? Waitress??? Was nice enough to bring out a sample so we ordered the Coke slaw instead which was German style and no mayo. Yeyy !!! Cash only !!! Free coffe refills.

The service was stellar. The food was good. Not fancy, but tasty. The coffee was delicious. More like 4.5 stars.

I’ve been enjoying Breakfast/Lunch at the San Marino Grill for about 3 years. It’s a quaint ca. 1965 diner that provides short-order style delicacies the way said dishes were meant to be experienced — good food with genuinely warm service. I usually stick to the breakfast side of the menu but that’s not to take away from their lunch/dinner items. If you are in the area and you are looking for a warm place to eat stop in and give them a try. My guess is you won’t be disappointed.

This is a cute little, family owned place. There are a lot of locals and returning customers. The servers were friendly and extremely welcoming. It is a little pricey, however, the daily specials were worth it. The only thing I didn’t like about it is that it is CASH only.

The best part about this place is the original retro interior and the owners –who are amazingly friendly, local San Marino residents(who are doing most of the serving and cooking by the way). While I think they are trying hard to serve good food, they need to take a hard look at the QUALITY of the food. Nothing grass fed, free range or organic. There are huge Costco-like bins of ingredients behind the counter. Wish they would catch up with the times and not be such a «greasy spoon» type place but more conscientious about today’s consumer. I paid $ 15 for a thin, overcooked hamburger(the kind sold at big box stores with paper in between each patty) and a cup of coffee! Save your money and go have an amazing custom prepared lunch a few blocks away at the Huntington Library café overlooking the beautiful gardens for less money!

San Marino grill is pretty good. Prices aren’t sky high, food is good, staff is friendly. Only thing I do t like is the CASHONLY policy. It’s basically an old diner, that hasn’t changed since 1965, so don’t expect anything fancy

This place is small and seems castrophobic to me. It doesn’t help that it’s CASH only! And the restrooms??? Who knows??? But, the food is decent and so are the prices.

Little on the pricy side, the food was the typical American diner type food, nothing really special. I had their ham steak, eggs and hash, it came out to be $ 15 with coffee. The restaurant is nostalgic and homey. Service was good, but the food is overpriced… This place has so much potential, the décor, location, very quaint little town atmosphere, but the food is just not that good. The coffee is flavor coffee water, worst diner coffee ever… Worst Coffee = — 1 Star Overpriced = — 1 Star Small portions = — 1 Star Cash Only(really) = — 1 Star

Grown up in San Marino most my life. I always forget how bad this place is and end up going back a year later. Cash only business… Really?. $ 10 – 12 for a below average omelette. Had a bug crawling next to my table. Waitresses are nice, but that’s all this place has going for it. If you want a good breakfast in Pasadena do Central Park café, Original Tops(Rosemead/Colorado), or Shakers in South Pas(same owners as Central Park café).

Haven’t been to this cute cash-only diner for years. But I just had breakfast there this morning, and it’s as good as I remembered. The thick bacon is perfectly crisp. The omelette is delicious especially with the salsa. Good hash browns and comes with choice of toast. Cash only.

Bland diner breakfast food with a high San Marino price tag. The chili in the chili omelet was bland and watery. The French toast was average like what you’d find at Chef’s in Arcadia. The service is friendly and attentive which is why I didn’t give it two stars. It’s cash only so be prepared.

This place is sort of a sleeper but if you’ve never been to Pasadena and you’re looking for something simple and just want to experience old world California this is the place. One morning I was driving up and down San Gabriel Boulevard trying to decide a nice place to have breakfast and relax. I was seeing someone that lived in the neighborhood be a never heard of it or rather did not recommend it so I stumbled across it. They have terrific omelettes and specials and I got into hot sauce eating there with your delicious bread and excellent coffee for a very reasonable price under $ 12
