I Scream Cakes

With only about 10 flavors from which to choose, I found the four flavors I sampled and the two on which I ultimately settled really grainy and icy and a little too sweet. Expensive, too, for smallish regular-​size scoops, but I do like that there are mini-​scoops for $ 1.
There are a couple of boozy flavors, too – like Clementine’s, but not as well-​executed.

I love this place. I love the unique flavors of icecream Kerry comes up with! My favorite is chocolate habenaro, the bf loves the black and tan. A few years back, i bought a cake for my cousin’s birthday, and the whole family enjoyed it. Also every doggie I’ve bought treats for love her doggie treats. This shop has something for everyone!

I had mint ice cream and it was good, but not amazing. It was pretty expensive too for a very small cup size.
But, I might buy ice cream again and try another flavor.
I really like the interior décor and the outdoor decorations.

I was disappointed at the range of vegan ice cream flavors, and I wish they did a combination of vegan, gf ice cream and cake. I picked a gf cupcake because we had driven all the way there. The ice cream was okay, vanilla with maybe lavender and some coating.
The gf cake was not good as per my experiences. It was very dense and just thick. I had like one spoon before I tossed it.
I appreciate that the owner seems to put care into her ingredients. I just would not want to buy something from here, even if I found myself standing in the store.

Went here during my a weekend trip to St. Louis. I was taking a stroll down Cherokee st. and just happened upon I scream cakes. Their from-​scratch ice cream was to die for. I decided to do the 6 scoop sampler, I asked for the most popular flavors. I imagined the sample scoops to be on the small side but to my surprise they were a nice decent size. Enough to leave me filled and content. From all six flavors, my personal favorites were lemon ginger, blueberry cheesecake, and tastes like purple.
The service was great and helpful. The recommendations were perfect. I expect to visit this place again on my next trip to St. Louis.

Kind of not the best area to be casually strolling around, but their flavors are pretty interesting. The Tastes Like Purple does taste like what the color might taste like, and their Hot Date flavor was quite good too.

Apparently everyone loves this place but me. I don’t get it…
I can’t say this is my favorite kind of ice cream… creaminess is the number one factor in my book. And this ice cream is very icy and not very smooth. There were quite a few different flavors, but not many that I was attracted to. A few were based on whiskeys or beers, many were fruity flavors and some were vegan — all of which I had no interest in. So, I sampled the Peanut Butter Chocolate — definitely one of my go-​to flavors when it comes to ice cream. The flavor was extremely mild, so it really didn’t do it for me. I also tried the Ecuadorian Chocolate, which was definitely a step up flavor-​wise, but nothing very special and the texture still wasn’t what I wanted it to be. I decided to order a sundae, hoping that covering it with toppings would improve the overall taste and experience. But all it really did was make the ice cream taste more bland.
I know that a big part of their ice cream is that it’s gluten free. I don’t know if that means we should except this sub-​par ice cream? But let me tell you, I make ice cream myself at home that’s gluten free and it tastes a million times better than what I tried today.
The the one really cool thing about my visit was the fact that they had Vincent Van Doughnuts! I ordered one and pretty pleased!
My last complaint about this place is the price. The sundae I bought was supposed to be around $ 7 for two scoops and my total ended up being $ 15!!! Was the doughnut I bought really that expensive??? I really don’t think I’ll be returning here any time soon.

I tried their Vegan chocolate peanut butter banana ice cream drum stick at the Strange Folk festival last weekend… It was SOOO GOOD and I was so excited to have found local & delicious ice cream I can eat! Can’t wait to visit their store front in STL :)

Awesome collection of gluten free and vegan flavors. My choice was the Black and Tan float. Amazing.

I really want to love this place but I have just not been impressed. At an art festival I tried one of their drumsticks. The cone was so soggy and the ice cream didn’t leave any kind of lasting impression. And recently I got a small scoop of their mint chocolate chip. After a couple of bites I couldn’t make myself eat any more. It was gritty and had a strong flavor of mint that had gone bad. I am not the type of person who doesn’t finish ice cream. This had to be a first. Am I just ordering the wrong things?

We threw a godfather-​themed party for his 15^th birthday. The horsehead cake was very detailed, even down to the eyeball, and sawed off neck bone. Her cakes… wait for it… take.the.cake!

I got my wedding cake/​cupcakes here and it was awesome. The cake was made with a flower on it that mimicked my origami wedding flowers. The cupcakes were super cute and color coded for all the flavors! Kerry is super fun and makes amazing ice cream flavors! The cake and most ice cream flavors are gluten-​free, so I can eat it! She also has some vegan options. Definitely try the orange habanero chocolate if you can handle some heat.
They are always rolling out nifty seasonal flavors, so it’s worth it to stop by every few months and try something new.

Stopped in for the first time after getting an email from Unilocal a while back to try out the local ice cream shops. I did my research and read the reviews before going and was determined to get a few ice cream cupcakes to celebrate Father’s Day with my pops.
It was early afternoon on a Saturday, the place was empty besides the girl behind the counter. I told her it was my first time and was looking for the ice cream cup cakes. She didn’t look thrilled that I was there and pointed to the freezer along the wall and said they’re in there. Alright awesome… so helpful!
I looked through the cupcakes and then they also had cakes for Father’s Day. I ended up with a cake and even got the girl to give me a few samples of ice cream.
I ended up with some sort of coconut ice cream for myself to enjoy on my drive home and treats for my dog.
I was definitely satisfied with my ice cream, the dog loved the treats but I could have passed on the cake. The ice cream within the Peanut Butter Chocolate cake was delicious but the cake portion was way too dense and the icing/​fondant was just too much for my parents and I’s liking.
Stick with the ice cream and dog treats and I’ll think you’ll be impressed!

Saint Louis, I might be in love. First the City Museum, and now this. What a great trip.
So we’re on our way to the Grinch’s gig and find a parking spot that is in front of this amazeballs place.
Okay, so: all the Dwarf wanted, the WHOLE vacation, was a vegan milkshake from the Chicago Diner, despite the fact that we drove to a completely different city for this particular adventure. At this point, I was with her. Something about the decadence of readily-​available customizable frozen dessert is important for leisure, maybe.
Anyway:
«It says VEGAN on the window!» she shrieked. For a highly capable adult in many social situations, she sure can be excited about ice cream.
The people in the store were interesting and kind.
There were THREE different vegan flavors: one with bananas and chocolate and peanut butter, one that «tastes like purple» (true story), and a strawberry that blew me away. You can get big or little scoops. I agree with other reviewers that the deal here is quality, not quantity.
You should try all of ‘em, I imagine. We did. They were so good that the Hippie broke into this huge, uncharacteristic-​over-​dessert grin in between the worried face he makes when required to do the fast thinking required by eating an ice cream cone.

I’ve been here a few times last summer, but only for a couple of sidewalk events. I finally got around to stopping in FOR REAL this time. The place is sooo cute inside and the owner Kerry is really nice and helpful. She was making cakes at the time so I got to watch her design a really cool ice cream cake w/​a blue cat! :)
I got 3 containers with 2 scoops each, to bring home. The ice cream is all made in house and most flavors I’ve never even heard of. I settled on the Strawberry Lemon Basil with the Blueberry Cheesecake, and hubby got the Black and Tan and Cherry Chocolate Stout. My daughter likes citrus flavors and LOVED the Lavender Lemon.
I hope someday to order one of the cool cakes there. Tons of creativity!

Love this place! Awesome flavors that are changing constantly. The music and atmosphere is very trendy and fun– — not intimidating like some hipster spots.
The owner is awesome and super friendly. She is an extremely talented cake decorator. The product is by no means inexpensive, but that is the price you pay for originality and supporting local business.
I can’t wait to order my daughter’s birthday cake from I Scream Cakes!

Good god I Scream Cakes, where have you been all my life?! Or rather, where haven’t I been? Fantastic and interesting ice cream choices, creative dessert specials, ice cream cupcakes?! I’m in.
Lets talk ice cream flavors. Sure, there’s your standards like vanilla and mint chocolate chip. But then it gets good. Black and Tan (made w/​real Guiness)! Chocolate Orange Habanero! Blueberry cheesecake! And then the vegan choices, which are made w/​a coconut milk base. I believe they were ginger-​peach and strawberry lemon. All excellent.
There were 2 specials when I went. One was a lemon cream float with vanilla soda. Sounded great but I went for the other one — an apple tamale with vanilla bean ice cream and caramel sauce (from Kakao). And WOW, this was some seriously advanced dessert. The savoryness of the corn from the warm tamale, mixed with the apples and ice-​cream and caramel… pretty mind-​blowing!
I decided to grab a cupcake out of the mini-​freezer to go. It was chocolate cake with chocoloate orange-​habanero ice cream, chocolate ganache, burnt caramel, and a nice piece of pecan chipotle brittle on top. At $ 5, this definitely isn’t cheap, but one bite told me it was completely worth it. This is a premium product, folks. And it definitely had some kick!
The décor of this place was fun and colorful. All the art on the wall is from local artists and is marked for sale. The owner Kerri is super cool, makes awesome custom cakes, and turns out she’s also a tattoo artist! Can you get any cooler than that?
If you’re ready to take your dessert game to the next level, you NEED to come here now! These are the types of places that make this city great.

Unilocal has truly benefited my life!
My wife likes to surf Unilocal for the places around the area, and she stumbled onto I Scream Cakes. With peaked curiosity, we wandered down to Cherokee Street to find out more about this unique frozen treat mecca!
My birthday was coming up, and my wife wanted to get me a specialty cake from ISC, so I already had something in mind. When we sat with the clerks, they explained how large my project would be and how expensive! Needless to say, we had to figure something else out. They were patient and even had input to guide us to our desired price and design.
We picked up the cake two weeks later and were truly satisfied with the outcome. The cake made quite the hubbub at our family gathering. Not only did it look cool, but it also was delicious. We went simple with the flavors: chocolate cake with chocolate and vanilla ice cream. However, they have all sorts of wacky flavors to test and add to the personality of their already impressive designs.
I highly recommend I Scream Cakes, a nice addition to the Cherokee area.

What a really cool place! They have all of your standard ice cream flavors, as well as a lot of vegan ice creams that use coconut milk instead. They also have crazy ones such as orange habanero chocolate (it’s actually spicy!) The employees are really friendly and there’s usually just one person working at a time… it’s a pretty tiny place.
They also do crazy creative cakes! From Chicago-​style hot dogs to goats (yes goats) to puppies and more, you really can order a cake of whatever you’d like. It’s fun to look at the books of them while picking out your ice cream.
I like this place a lot and love that everything is made by hand. Every ingredient in the ice cream is completely organic, which rocks pretty hard. Give this place a try and sting your tongue on that ice cream!
