This one gets four stars and not two based on the number of times we’ve been there and had a good experience. It’s a great atmosphere and a fun place to go on a casual date, with a group, or after dinner for dessert or for dessert drinks(i.e. their assortment of chocolate dessert martinis). Last night we sat outside and ordered a couple neat bourbons and the Tiramisu Tower, which is served with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream. The ice cream was delicious, as was the garnish of a dark chocolate truffle. The Tiramisu Tower, not so much. It consisted of 3 – 4 of what tasted like store-bought shortcake rings, stacked together with what was supposed to be mascarpone, but which could have easily been slightly sweetened Crisco, for its flavor. The shortcake rings were dry and grainy, and the whole thing felt and tasted like it had been made the previous day and set in the refrigerator. Yuck. My advice to them would be to find a good(or even decent) tiramisu an pour some delicious Chocolate Bar dark chocolate sauce over the top. Voila. Oh well, I’m sure we will be back to try something different. The bourbons were great.

This is a great place to go for dessert and dessert-themed drinks in the downtown area. Like all Bailey’s establishments, it is a bit overpriced, however, I definitely recommend trying at least once. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Whether you’re with a date or out for a special occasion, Bailey’s Chocolate Bar is a good choice for dessert.

What’s a visit to St. Louis without the famous chocolate martini?! So many fun memories of this place. I love the little chocolate chip cookies that they start you with, and all the drinks are insanely decadent and delicious. It’s hard to go wrong, but the chocolate martini is a must!

DARK&VAMPYIN A 70% COCOAKINDAWAY I’ve long wondered WHY there wasnt a «late night bakery» anywhere. Some place where the gals can go & drink their dessert or take a date on a 2nd location if things are sweet’n up *wink wink Then on a visit to STL I found out about this place. ITSEVERYTHING I’VEBEENWAITINGFOR Sexy martinis & decadent desserts after dark Main bar is up front when you walk in with dinner tables set up in the back. The place is quite large but the tables are set close together. I imagine on packed nights it may be a bit difficult to talk or move around. The waitstaff was very friendly & knowledgeable about how everything was made. They even bring 2 little cookies to the table as if it was the table bread My girlfriend ordered the«grown up mocha» it was rich & chocolatey but not overwhelmingly coffee flavored. Great pick me up drink(no pun intended) to have on a cold night. I got the«rocky road to dublin» lets just say I sucked that baby DOWN! Its milkshake consistency was light & smooth with a sweet nutty rim & toasted marshmallow garnish. Cant say i tasted much alcohol. In fact my first thought was ‘is there any in it?’ but the flavor was on point & i could not complain. We shared a «missouri ave pizza» which was light & buttery with mushrooms, basil & garlic. then the«sugar plum bread pudding» I am always on the hunt for a good bread pudding. Its very hard to make correctly. This wasn’t your ‘traditional’ version but i liked the experimentation. Drizzled in a chunky plum sauce & baked in rosemary. I only wish it was a little warmer & softer. The only thing I didn’t like was the raspberry martini. It tasted like cough syrup. The waitress even said«I don’t know why i didn’t tell you right away to not order it. No one likes that drink» She apologized & took it off the bill. Im going to have to come back to this place every time I’m in STL& try another drink & another dessert. Maybe just for it ;-)

I really enjoyed my experience here at Bailey’s this past weekend. I do not see myself coming here often because it is on the more expensive side, but it is a must-try if you have never been or need a sweet spot to go to. The ambience here definitely gives off a romantic vibe with a fresh red rose at each table. The inside seating is dimly lit surrounded by red walls which is nice but the outside seating is super gorgeous and well lit. My party and I were going to sit outside but realized it is too cold so that is something I recommend when the weather gets warmer. The service here was on point. We were greeted immediately and taken to our table. Then our server introduced herself to us and brought us water a few moments after we sat down. As our night went a long, our waitress did a great job at answering our questions and checking up on us. I wanted to try out the drinks because there were chocolate in them so I ordered the dark sexual. If you like strong, alcoholic, and spicy drinks, this one is for you. I expected the drink to be sweeter but it wasn’t too bad, I tasted some hints of chocolate and spice at the end. It was interesting but not necessarily delicious. Then we ordered a cheese plate to start off with. The three cheeses we chose were: gjetost, port salut, and maple smoked white cheddar. All of these were so satisfying. I did not know what gjetost was initially but it has a sweet taste to it that reminded me of caramel. According to our server, it is goat cheese. The port salut was creamy just the way I like it and the cheddar was definitely smoky. The presentation was cute and was accompanied by toast, spicy assorted nuts, and dried berries. Then, we tried the grand cru chocolate fondue. This is where I had to knock a star off of the rating, I expected the chocolate fondue to be on some sort of heat source but it came out already melted in a mug plated with the dipping accompaniments. I like my chocolate to stay warm or hot the entire time, so it got cold and thick within a few minutes in the mug. It would have been fine if it was not called a fondue then I would not have that sort of expectation. Overall, I did have a good experience here and I see myself coming back quite often to try everything else on the menu.

I used to be hard on this place. It’s somewhat pricey and used to have slow service by people who didn’t seem to care. Despite this, I continued to return and I’ve had more and more positive experiences! The service has definitely improved! It’s the cheese plate that usually brings me back to this plate, although I feel like their list of choices has gotten a little shorter. But they still have some great options! Most recently we combined Gjetost, Iberico and Red Dragon and it made for a killer plate! IT was perfectly balanced with the punch of mustard form the Dragon, sweetness from the Gjetost and mild flavor of the Iberico. They’ve now added fondue to their menu — two cheese and one chocolate. We tried the later on our visit the other night and I loved it! The chocolate is served in a mug that is about half full. Me and my inner fat child wanted twice this serving, but in reality it’s a nice portion. The man thing I like about this fondue is that it tasted like *gasp* actual chocolate — as if they took awesome quality dark chocolate and warmed it up, only adding a little heavy cream. I mention this because most other chocolate fondue I’ve had, you can tell that it comes from those little chocolate discs that are meant to be melted and have added ingredients that you don’t really need to make it smoother and sweeter. I’m also a fan of their brownie, but I usually swap the Bailey’s ice cream for the cinnamon. I was never a fan of their flourless motion cake, so I wouldn’t recommend that. But if you like ice cream and a lot of it, you should probably go for the Banana Split — an entire banana, three HUGE scoops of ice cream and absolutely covered with all of the toppings! Lastly, sign up with Originals and get points every time you spend money here!

How does Bailey’s only have an average four star rating?!? We tried to go the night before Valentine’s and were greeted with a 45 minute wait. We came back on Valentine’s night(walked right in thanks to the NoWait app!) and were not disappointed. My boyfriend enjoyed the chocolate raspberry martini, while I got the smoke and bubbles cocktail — very boozy, so beware! We split The Lover’s Plate — a taste for two of mini bites of the Brownie, Blondie, Chocolate Inebriation, Blackberry/White Peach Cheesecake, and Baileys’ Chocolate Bar. Served with Salted Caramel Ice Cream, Bacon Brittle, Raspberry Sorbet, Caramelized Banana, Strawberries, and Candied Citrus. Yes, it really was as good as it sounds! To top off the night, we had a great server in Samantha, who has a great sense of humor. Be sure to head downstairs to the restrooms, which have stunning glass tile mirrors.

Bailey’s Chocolate Bar is a fun and romantic place to end the evening! The night out with your friends or date should end with a sweet cocktail, glass of wine, or tasty dessert(the also have small plates of food). They have a wonderful assortment of sweet libations — like drinking candy! They have a huge selection of creative desserts — ice cream, brownies, cookies, cake, fondue, pastries. If it’s your first time there, I would recommend any of the cocktails(they are very well made and creative) and the Lover’s Plate — Aphrodisiacs(a taste for two) to get an overall sample of what this venue has to offer. I wish the place was a little more spacious, it gets very crowded. Or they offered more dinner foods. Overall, this place is pretty unique and I have not really seen a place like this anywhere else.

Bailey’s Chocolate Bar is one of my favorite spots to meet up with my girl friends because it has all of the girls’ night essentials: original martinis, wine, cheese & charcuterie boards, and desserts for sharing. It’s also a good place for date nights because the atmosphere is so intimate and romantic. The interior is dimly lit and each table is decorated with a freshly cut red rose in a glass of water. You cannot leave Bailey’s Chocolate Bar without trying one(or two) of their signature martinis. The chocolate martinis are essentially heavenly liquid desserts. I am personally a fan of the Raspberry, the Bailey’s, and the Raspberry Lemonade martinis. The Sexual and the Mexican martinis were way too intense and bold for me. The actual desserts are absolutely mouthwatering and scrumptious. You will have a sugar high by the time you leave. I cannot say enough good things about the ambience or the food/drinks they serve here and I look forward to coming back.

A co-worker suggested this place on a whim. We had been to the Bailey’s burger restaurant earlier in the week and weren’t that impressed. But we decided to try this place anyway and I’m sure glad we did. I was over the top impressed with not only the atmosphere but also the prices. It was very quaint yet had a very upscale feel to it at the same time. The staff was super friendly and willing to answer any questions. I got the pizza for dinner but you HAVE to stay for dessert if you go. That’s what it’s all about. I got the the Puff pastry pear, which I know isn’t chocolate but it’s such a hard dessert to find. It is not the easiest thing to make. It was delicious as was the cinnamon ice cream that came with it. If your in St. Louis, this place is a must!

We were looking for an after dinner spot for a nice drink and dessert. The place certainly is a hot spot. We were seated at a table that was falling apart. But, we were also greeted by our server with two fresh baked cookies. We ordered drinks and the cheesecake dessert with white chocolate crust. All was pretty good. The waitress was very polite and helpful. I think we will give it another try, maybe I can change the rating to 4 stars.

Bailey’s Chocolate Bar is a perfect post-dinner spot for date night, or girls night, or even bros night(I wouldn’t judge)! They offer a short and sweet menu featuring small plates, decadent desserts, and delicious cocktails. I ordered the Sage & Sour cocktail(refreshing :D) and split a couple desserts with friends. The Red Velvet Bread Pudding and Chocolate Inebriation were tasty, but extremely rich, so be warned! Luckily we sat around chatting for awhile, we were able to take it slow and work on the desserts at a reasonable pace. You’ll have to park in the streets, but it’s a nice area to walk around, so you won’t regret it. Plus, it gives you a chance to walk off any dessert-induced guilt!

Great little place. From out front you can only see the front bar, so it looks smaller than it is. Once inside they walked me to the back room and there are plenty of tables there. Great ambiance. I enjoyed a table for one, but this would be a great spot for date night. Extra bonus– Instead of bread, they serve chocolate chip cookies! They serve small plates and extensive drink menu. I had a thinly sliced beef small plate followed by a mushroom flatbread. Paired it with an affordable priced and generously poured Cabernet. I had a Chocolate Martini for my dessert. Since it is a cold fall night I chose the hot chocolate based martini. Mmmm… So yummy and warm! Come check this place out. I had to call to get help finding it– GPS was taking me to the wrong place and even once I found it there is a tree in front of it so I still had trouble locating it. So just call and they’ll get you there!

An oldie but goodie. I can’t resist a chocolate martini. What red blooded American woman says no to vodka, chocolate liqueur and dairy??? Chocolate Bar is everything right in Lafayette Square, holding down the fort and serving as an anchor for neighboring businesses to come and go. I’ve definitely had my fair share of late nights and cans of Sofia at the bar over the years. Always with friends and amiable bartenders. It feels like a second home. Of course it’s on the list when visiting STL, duh!

The Bailey’s ice cream martini is a rite of passage in St. Louis! The desserts and martinis at this restaurant are by far the best around, and the miniature chocolate chip cookies they serve when they seat you are an adorable touch(not to mention delicious)! This is the perfect venue for dates, girls nights and even parents. The dinner menu is less than ideal and I can’t imagine myself ever eating there; but the dessert simply cannot be beat!

We came in with some friends for a late night snack on a Sunday evening. The place is a cool, dimly lit spot with a sweet bar out front, a nice indoor dining room and some incredible outdoor seating. We found our way out back to a table on the patio and it was lovely. A very nice garden type seating set up out back was a great start. It took roughly 20 minutes to grab our water and drinks, and it was pretty apparent that they were understaffed — no stress, we didn’t have anywhere to be! Drinks included a stout diplomat(stout + rum), a chocolate martini and a sparkling reisling. The stout was a house chocolate stout and it was good, not great. The martini was made with dark chocolate and espresso and was rather disappointing. Nice espresso depth, but super sweet without much chocolate flavor — just seemed to have a lot of sugar in it. The other drinks were standard. The desserts did not wow and that was obviously a bummer. The chocolate indulgence wa rather bland, though it presented nicely. The salted caramel and coconut ice creams were good, but not amazing. The portions were good for 4 of us to share, but again weren’t anything to write home about. End of the day, I hope they were having an off night. The ambiance here was incredible, but that only gets you half way home. Worth trying, assuming things are better when they’re not short handed.

What a hidden little gem in Missouri. The moment I stepped in I felt like I was transformed to a snazzy romantic French dessert bar. It helped me forget about the shady train ride I took earlier to get to downtown. Bailey’s bar is perfect for dates and dates only. The whole place is lit up with candles and dim red lighting.(How much more romantic can you get?) Their menu serves dessert in every way possible, cocktails, beers, cakes and even bacon. Not knowing what to get and wanting to try it all, I ended up getting the Lover’s Plate. It gives a little taste of every thing they offer on the menu. My favorite was the caramelized bananas, it was almost like a crème brûlée but in banana form. The toffee ice cream was pretty good with the toffee bacon. My taste buds were shocked from the combination of both ingredients. For the fellas out there, I guaranteed you’ll be taking her home if you bring her here for post dinner desserts/drinks *winkwink*
