@Aaron B… Are you serious? «It was clearly made for people with full time jobs and like nice things.» Do you work for them and paid for this review? Trops is a nuisance for the Soulard neighborhood and is not a place to go if you have«full time jobs» or whatever the hell that means. This place carries a rough crowd and I wouldn’t even consider going back.

used to be amazing but you can no longer get your drinks to go !! But to tops it all off, they don’t tell you that until after you’ve already ordered your drink. What a joke.

Interior design is bright and cute unlike some of the other photos(dark and unclean). It has an ambiance where you can meet up with friends for fun or even a fun spot to take a date to. It has a nice hangout vibe and the icee-bar tenders are super chill and nice. The flavors are well mixed and they all pretty much taste good.

Franchises are never going to be like the original so everyone is ready to compare this to its sister store in Columbia and heads up, you can’t! Visited this when I was in Soulard for an activity. Cover your ears when you walk in, the music is blasting and since the venue isn’t that big, there’s not a lot of area for it to travel except straight to you. Behind the bar area is the slushie machines and they have quite a few to choose from. They have some regular staples(ie Tiger Paw, Sex on the Beach) then some that are tailored to the area(Louie, in honor of the Blues bear). There are 3 sizes to choose from, all in different price ranges and they are charging an extra $ 1 to seal it up if you’re going to take it out of their area. We ordered 3 to go, no one was asked for an ID and continued on our way. There are some places to sit inside but this is more of a hot day siting on the patio type of place as there’s more room outside. I will definitely be back and I’m willing to bet they are going to be huge come time for STL Mardi Gras, among other activities in the STL area. This is a must stop when in the area, just don’t expect it to be exactly like the other locations.

I’ll make this short… I’m spoiled on the original in columbia, so when I walk in, get carded(thanks, but I’m almost 50) and you have to have a white straws when leaving and not a red one… too many rules., I feel some sorta way. Oh well, I enjoyed my drink. Had to pick it up before 7 pm or I couldn’t leave with it. Will take me some getting used to. Oh, I can still have the one in Columbia; my son now attends Mizzou.

They’ll do well, b/c they have good drinks for a good price; however, it’s not a place you want to hang unless it’s beautiful outside — not a lot of room to exist inside… I’ll go back in the future, but I’ll grab my drink to go. **you can ask for your drink to go, and they’ll seal the top, so it can’t be considered an open container. ***in Missouri, it’s ok for the passenger to have an open container — whoot whoot!

Let’s go to trops!!! How cool is it to say that while in St. Louis and not in Como! Amirite? But really, this location is like trops 2.0. Very nice, exposed brick wall… not a packed frat house. If you’ve been to trops in Columbia, you know what I mean. Quite the face lift, with all the super strong alcoholic slushies you love! I personally like the sweet tart mixed with the raging bull. If you don’t know what to get, ask for a sample. They are great about allowing you to try a few different types before you make that serious commitment. They have some space upstairs, but we didn’t go up there when we were there. They also have a lot seating outside in the back. Make sure you bring a bunch of friends, sit around a table, and just drink some alcoholic slushies. I mean, what more could you want?! Ps– props to trops for playing some Taking Back Sunday, and other 90s and early 00s jams. I dig it!

Amazing!!! My friend and I went there last night — — I got the Voo Doo Brew — it was delicious, cheap, and strong! I was able to sample a few — the staff was very friendly and the place was nice and clean — — the outside patio was nice — a lot of smokers were outside sitting at the tables though, and you can’t take your drink to-go… Can’t wait to come back again!

Not exactly sure how I feel about Trops. I know that the hype was that it was going to be this great spot to hangout, but that was not what I experienced. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and right before walking in I had to show my ID; fine by me. There was a line inside that wasn’t moving very quickly and so I was already having a bad feeling about it, but I stayed in line anyways. There was loud music playing and lots of people talking. I also noticed the place smelled like an ashtray. I believe this was because so many people were smoking outside and the doors were open so the smoke was in the building. I made my way up to the counter and before I could order someone came in from behind and demanded attention so the girl behind the counter took her order before mine. So I waited again. I placed my order and since I knew I couldn’t take the drink to go I went with the 20 oz cup. The drinks were reasonably priced and the girl behind the counter took the money and that was about it. I knew the place was busy and I could tell because non of the bartenders seemed to be having a good time. I get it. When we finally moved outside(to get away from the inside crowd) the smell of cigarettes was still in the air and so I had to find a way to move away from it. All of the tables on the patio were taken and so we stood for a few minutes. After a little while I noticed that people were coming from around the corner and so I wanted to see what was over there… walked around the corner and noticed a few tables-hooray! It would have been nice if there was a sign stating«more seating» or something to notify customers of this. We sat down at a picnic table and chatted. I noticed the crowd and everyone seemed to be drinking their drinks and chatting as well. The outside definitely needed a little help as there were cups and straws and lids on the ground. I noticed cigarette butts on the ground too. One of the workers was walking around picking up the trash as quickly as he could, but I felt bad for him since he couldn’t keep up. How is it so hard to put something in the garbage can? Seriously!!! Anyways, the major downfall about this place is that you can’t leave to walk around. I get the reason why. I do… but it just sucks that I am being forced to sit in one place and drink 1 drink for so long. I also would like to comment that with the picnic tables being as big as they are it is intimidating to ask to sit with a stranger. We were sitting a table and even though we were happy to have others join no one seemed to want to sit with people they didn’t know. I really don’t know if I will see myself going back to Trops. The drinks weren’t even that good as I have experienced much better types at other spots.

«Great summer chill spot!» — 4.3 stars With no real signage, it may be hard to tell what kind of place this is. My wife and I walked past this place a few times before we ventured in; lured by the packed bar and smiling faces. Glad we did! Tropical Liquors is the adult version of a slush shack. The interior is simple and clean with a fairly large bar. Get there early if you want to sit at the bar. It fills up fast, however, the real attraction is their large outdoor seating area with picnic benches for large groups and tables for smaller groups and couples. It is perfect for an after work get together or a weekend hangout! With 10+ frozen concoctions spinning on tap, it is kind of hard to choose which cocktail to consume. My wife and I tried the Tiger Paw(151 Rum, Peach Schnapps, pineapple juice and orange juice — $ 5/Med size). Even with high proof 151, it was dangerously drinkable and not overpoweringly sweet; well balanced and delicious. I would recommend adding an extra shot($ 2.50) to help it keep liquid(and boozy) though the end. Overall, we really like this place. They are great for a summer treat and a cool spot to hang out with our dog.(Tip: ask for the bartender for a doggy bowl for your thirsty pooch).

Delicious and cheap! Be warned, you will get drunk! Raspberry lemonade is my favorite!

This brought me back to my college days of maximizing alcohol intake per dollar spent. Just make sure your expectations are in line. You come here to get frozen drinks with tons of alcohol for a low price while lounging with friends outside. It’s a straightforward deal. I had a great time hanging here today with friends. Their pricing is superb, and we easily found a bench outside in what seems like a backyard. I honestly can’t remember the exact drink I purchased, but I do remember it having 151. For $ 6 there is little room for complaints. No matter what you get their drinks will pack a punch. So for $ 6 I enjoyed a frozen alcoholic beverage while chillin with friends on a warm summer day. That’s a solid experience if you ask me. I will return lol.

When I was younger, much younger, we used to get slurpees from 7-Eleven and spike them with liquor. We got hammered drunk and would pass out with bright red mouths and tongues. Trops has taken this concept to a whole new level. They’re spiking the tropical blends with high octane stuff like 151, grain alcohol, and anything else they can find that goes well with an icee. You have to pace yourself because 1) You’ll get a brain freeze, 2) these things are POTENT. Hit this place up before a Cards game and you’ll be primed for fun. …And you’ll have a red mouth to match your jersey.

Trops is the hottest thing to hit Soulard in the coldest way possible. For those of you who don’t know, the original is in Columbia, MO, a college town in mid-Missouri, where it garnered a cult following of college kids. This location has been packed every day with it’s devout followers since it’s opened. What the hell is it? I’ll tell you. Alcoholic slushies. Yup, that’s just about it. They’ve upgraded to a couple beers on tap but that’s not why you go here. You go here for massive, cheap, unmarked styrofoam cups full of perfectly blended and overly sweet slushies. They have a ton of different flavors and you can mix as many as you’d like. I recommend mixing«Silver Bullet», a stronger less-sweet flavor, with any of the other flavors to tone them down a bit. Compared to the original version in good olé’ Co, MO, this location is NIIICCCCE. It was clearly made for people with full time jobs and like nice things. The interior is lined with exposed brick and wood. They have tons of seating outside… patio tables and picnic tables to host a crowd. There’s an upstairs that I haven’t been to but you can sit up there, watch the game, and hang out from what I could tell. Get there now before the picnic tables are completely covered in graffiti and you don’t have anywhere to draw!

I can’t even begin to express how excited I am for this place to be in stl! Not only does it bring back endless memories from college but who doesn’t love an alcoholic slushy beverage! You can mix different flavors or you can just get one! They are inexpensive and the atmosphere here is wonderful! We had the bomb pop today, and it tasted exactly like the ice cream truck bomb pop and I was in heaven! I normally get the tiger paw with silver bullet but I wanted to try something new. It was a great choice, if anyone wants to try a great combo of flavors, go for it! This place is not only open for special occasions(as previously noted by someone else) but it’s open more often then that! Go and experience the magic! The hot weather with a cool slushy to indulge in, is the way to go! Go and enjoy the delicious slushy, you won’t regret it!

Stopped by on Monday night after the grand opening. The bar seating was full, but it was very easy to place an order with one of the two bartenders. There were a couple of drinks that were sold out– so make sure you are looking at the taps in addition to the menu when making your drink selection. The smallest 12oz cups were $ 4 and the 48oz jumbo size was $ 9. For $ 2 more you can add a «floater.» We took our drinks outside and found an open table. I would suggest that they add more trashcans outside and ashtrays on each table. There were many people that just left their empty cups on the tables when they were done drinking. The only trashcan outside was overflowing. Many people were smoking outside and there were butts all over the ground. TIP: There is additional seating(picnic tables) outside on the side of the building in the grassy yard– turn right when walking out the back door to find.

I couldn’t wait for the opening of Trops in St. Louis! I went on opening day around 11:45 and I knew going in there would be a line, and there was — out the door and around the block. We waited in line about 30 minutes and was worth it to get my TigerPaw mixed with Silver Bullet. Bartenders were friendly and we’re moving as fast as they could. I think they will work out the kinks with service over the next few weeks as it’s going to be busy for a while. Their patio was great and had plenty of room upstairs.

The drinks here are awesome and have a surprising amount of alcohol in them. This is one of the best places to go on a hot summer day in Soulard. The people here are very nice and with prices under $ 10 I think the value is pretty good!

They often say good things come to those who wait, well that’s not entirely true in the case of Tropical Liqueurs who has already delayed the opening of their Saint Louis location by nearly a month. Alas, they had their soft launch on Thursday, and posted the to Facebook that they would be closed on Friday and open regular hours on Saturday, so I figured it would be a perfect stop on Saturday evening. I arrived in Soulard in at 6:30 and spent nearly 20 minutes looking for a parking spot, all so I could enjoy some delicious Trops goodness. Once I found a spot and made my way to Trops, there was a sign on the door that said closed, however people were inside. My group and another we’re both informed that they were closed for a private party. Before walking away we all took to Facebook to make sure we didn’t have the dates mixed up, only to discover that late Friday night they updated their status and changed their mind by stating that they would be closed Saturday from 7pm-10pm for a private event. Are you kidding me, not even a day earlier they posted 24 hours earlier that they would be open normal business hours! Needless to say we were all turned away at the door, however to add further insult to injury we were told that we could contribute $ 50 to the fundraiser for all you can drink! I don’t mind donating to a fundraiser but Trops needs to get their shit together, as they lost at least 10 legitimate customers in the short time I was standing outside. I had high hopes for Trops, after having great service and great drinks at their Columbia locations, however this location failed to deliver. I will add that Trop’s posted On their Facebook Saturday night that they would offer a free double drink to those who were turned away.
