I bought the BANH mi thit nuong and the meat was so burnt that all I could taste was charcoal and the meat tasted as though it has been rotting in the open air for quite a while and they had warmed it up by microwaving it. I got the worst stomach ache and wanted to constantly throw up. This is also not the first time this has happened since I really wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt since I’ve heard so many good things about it. But it has disappointed me again and again. I will not be coming here anymore.

They bake their own bread fresh and sells a lot of their own fixins. I ordered three sandwiches and was surprised at how heavy they were in the paperbag. Opening the bag, i realized tgat they were supersized and was individually wrapped six halves. Ended up with enough for both lunch and dinner for the family. Tasty, and as another poster said. Can’t go wrong whichever sandwich you choose.

I have to admit, there sandwiches is good. Everything else kinda suck. The service is not so great. The lady that was at the front counter didn’t know what she was doing. I was in line and she keep on helping the people behind me. I was like hello?!? Anyways when they recently open there sandwiches prices was decent. And now it’s just expensive. $ 2.25 for a tiny one and the regular banh mi is roughly around 5 dollar. Coffee is $ 5. I don’t know how you people feel but it’s just banh mi, shouldn’t be charging a lot for it.

I’m glad there is one on McKee road. The prices may look higher, but they actually give a really big sandwich cut in half. It’s usually enough for two people. They have a pretty large menu too. Cash only.

I ate tons of Vietnamese Sandwich in my lifetime… And I can assure you that the Sandwiches here are by far the best in the Bay Area! ;)

This is one of my all time favorite places for aromatic banh mi! I usually get the Phat Tri special, banh mi dac biet, which consists of the viet pâté, viet mayo, head cheese, Cha lua, a few sprigs of cilantro, pickled daikon and carrots, thick slice of cucumber and a few slices of fresh jalapeño. It’s a pretty long sandwich and they usually cut it in half for you. This location is smaller and the sandwiches are a tad bit smaller than the Story location but it’s cheaper than Story. It makes sense! I wish this opened while I still went to high school in the area Bc I would probs go all the time instead of the Mc Donald’s. Viet sandwiches over Big Macs all day everyday. Whenever, I crave viet sandwiches, I always go here when I want that banh mi dac biet. They also have a fridge for Vietnamese desserts and they even have their special pâté and mayo so you can make your own sandwiches!!! Back when I was in college, my mom would buy me the pâté, mayo, Cha lua and banh mi so I could make it on my own.(:

Tried their #1 today and it’s pretty freaking amazing! Soo good. They split it in half and they are HUGE!!! Definitely fill me up lunch and dinner! Definitely worth $ 5! On the other hand, I got their Thai ice tea and it is not at all worth $ 4. Please see picture below!

I would give more than five stars if possible… this place is AWESOME. #31 — pork with fried egg sandwhich. OMG soooo good. It’s so big that you really are getting two sandwiches in terms of size. And the ingredients are packed in there in generous portions. This is an epic Bahn Mi and a must-try. #18 grilled beef — simply delicious as well. The meat is marinated to a salty perfection, which is nicely cut by the daikon, cilantro, and carrots. The pâté and dressing is a cut above most shops… really well put together sandwich. I like that they cut the sandwiches in half and separately wrap them… these are big sandwiches and half of these sandwiches dwarf a full Lee’s sandwich. But aside from value for your money, these are delicious too. If I only lived closer I would come here every day!

I’ve been to their original location on Story road and this review will is pretty much the same as the other. Sandwiches are delicious, large and reasonably priced. The only thing that I order is the grilled pork without any chili. When I tell them no chili, they get it right most of the time. Other places will always give me chili even though I say no. Parking is easier than the story road location and they are located in the same plaza as Kohls.

Hate that I have to be writing a review for this place, but I gotta let the business and everyone else know. The first couple of weeks this place was first opened, service and sandwiches were great. The owner of the place would always make sure that everything was in the customer’s favor and that the customers were satisfied. Now: TERRIBLE service. TERRIBLE. They’re sandwiches are smaller portions now but the sandwiches don’t even matter at this point. It’s the service. I went in today to order my usual sandwich and as I was waiting, I saw another guy ordering 4 cups of hot coffee. Then I saw the girl giving it to him WITHNOTRAY. So yes, he had to hold 4 cups of HOT coffee with only TWO hands. I mean… They know they sell drinks so why not provide the cup trays?! As this guy was walking out, he spilled(not surprised) on himself. Man oh man, this guy was too nice. He didn’t get angry, he didn’t complain, HEDIDN’T SAYANYTHING. If it were I, I would’ve exploded. Once it spilled on him, he had to set the cups down then went to ask for napkins. The girl taking FOREVER to get it for him, just took a couple and handed it to him. At that point, I was just in shock. First off, the girl didn’t even run over and help him when she saw the drinks spill on him. Second, I DIDNOTHEAR A SINGLEAPOLOGY. What the heck man? After the guy got his napkins he just cleaned himself off then grabbed the cups and left. The guy was seriously too nice. He didn’t say one word. So my guess on this place is: ever since they opened, business has been good but because it’s good and busy, they just try to take customers’ money and not give them truly what they’re paying for. I used to love coming here for breakfast/lunch and the owner knew me; he was nice and made sure I was happy with what I got. Now, he’s not around and the workers there are just tearing it down. The next time I’m coming back its to just talk to the owner. Not making an order. Other than that, I wouldn’t come back.

Mistakes were made. I was at Kohl’s and wanted to pick something up for my family. 4 people to feed… 4 VIetnamese sandwiches, why not? I know the sandwiches here are big but I still thought each person would be able to finish maybe one. I don’t know if they’re smaller than the original place, but it does seem to cost more. I haven’t been to the original location in about 2 – 3 years though. Quantity is definitely there, you’re paying less for more, but more isn’t always good. The sandwich tasted pretty bland. I got 6 #1’s… at first I was going to order 4. but he told me buy 5 get 1 free. The asian in me couldn’t resist that deal. Now we have so much leftovers since I basically ended up with 12 sandwiches. If I ever come back, I’ll try a different sandwich. The #1 was too bland for me.

cash only. #1 with egg for breakfast… #6 for lunch/dinner. happy girl. they have so many goodies here, but phat tri sandwiches are so huge that you can’t think of bringing anything back home with your sandwich. the staff are so sweet, giggly, chatty, and friendly. i love how quickly they can get through a queue of people in line.

This opens at 5AM it’s a really convenient time if you’re an early bird(or even night owl, all-nighter). This place is not like your typical hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese restaurant. It’s very clean and the workers seem understand what«customer service» is all about. I been here 3 times, with 3 different cashiers, they were all great people. I’d go as far as saying it’s cleaner and friendlier than most American establishments. The price of the sandwiches is about right, $ 5 for two medium sized portion with a good proportion of meat, veggies, and bread. The taste isn’t bad either. So why not 5 stars you ask? Well, I’ve been here 3 times and bought a total of 3 sandwiches and 1 Banh’ Bo(Vietnamese Dessert). I find the grilled meat in my sandwich to be a bit on the SALTY side and the Banh Bo to be on the SWEETER side. Then again, it could just be my taste buds. But overall, I would totally recommend this place to anyone.

I just want to make note that I have also been to phat tri on story and I will be comparing this location to that location. First off, the customer service here is definitely better and the store seems less dim and run down. Parking here is also more abundant than parking at story. The sandwiches on the other hand. Their length has declined dramatically. The filling is still the same amount as is the bread, just that they are no longer the length of my arm when the banh mi is cut in half and I am still paying the same price. I’m not really sure if the store on story has done the same, but I was incredibly disappointed when I saw the size here at mc kee. Nevertheless, I still would choose this place overall to Lee sandwiches!

Phat Tri has been my favorite place for Banh Mi for the past couple years. This is one sandwich place that does not skim on the ingredients or disappoint. You can request the pickled carrots and cilantro on the side. Most of the sandwiches are priced around $ 5 with the exception of a few that are $ 6. Their number one special is to die for. Its call Phat Tri Special Sandwich. They are 5 layers of different meats and Pâté with mayonnaise. You can also add the pickles, cilantro, and pepper to make this sandwhich BLASTING with flavor. For $ 5 you get one sandwich that is a foot a half. The sandwich is so long, they have to cut it half. In actuality, you technically gets 2 sandwiches after they cut it. The portion of half a sandwich is enough for one meal. For many people who are Vegetarian, this store also offers vegetarian sandwich. The vegetarian sandwich has options such as shredded tofu, tofu and vegetarian meats(grilled and BBQ) so you won’t feel like you’ve been left out. The store also offer variety of sweet treats and pastries that would make you wanting to comeback again and again. Hmmm…I think I also failed to mention that the store bake their own bread! How awesome is that, you know you are getting a fresh batch of bread straight from the oven with your order. The store is a bit crowded with sweet treats and pastries being displayed all over the store. The store also offers Che(a type of dessert). Wonderful staffs who are extremely helpful to let you know what’s inside a sandwich if you ask them. * First star awarded for FRESHNESS of the breads.(you don’t know FRESH until you had their bread.) ** Second star awarded for OPTIONS tailor to both vegetarian and carnivores.(ROAR!) *** Third star awarded for AMPLE parking spaces, and LOCATION. It is right off Mckee 680 exit, how convenient is that? **** Fourth star awarded for offering sweet treats, authentic drinks and pastries. Moon cakeeee and vietnamese coffeeeeeee rules! ***** Fifth and last star awarded for HELPFULNESS from the staff. She(whom i forgot her name… cashier, friendly and always smiling) showed me what is inside the vegetarian sandwich. Thanks for opening another store, it is much closer to my house. I don’t have to drive far to get some delicious sandwich. ~Signed loyal patron Why are you still reading this? Punch in the address to your GPS and go get some fresh goodness!

I was shocked and excited when I got news about Phat Tri opening off of McKee. No more having to drive to Story and enduring the frustration due to the Lack of parking. For those of you who aren’t famiLiar with this pLace, it’s the Vietnamese Subway of Vietnamese Sandwiches! Who doesn’t Love a footLong every now and then? Who says ‘no’ to more bang for your buck? One sandwich would normaLLy feed both my fiancé and I– and that says a Lot because we get dooooown with food I made a trip out here & ordered our usuaL Phat Tri SpeciaL and it was a fraction of what the Story Location puts out. I was stiLL hungry after I ate my haLf. WOMPWOMPWOMP! OveraLL: Very fresh, piping hot breads being baked each hour makes this pLace a must in my eyes. The sandwiches may be smaller but it beats being in traffic and fighting for parking.

If you’ve been to the one on Story Rd you already know what Phat Tri is all about. It’s the size baby! And the taste! Yes size matters sometimes as well as substance. You may also know that the Story Rd location is a hole in the wall. You buy and you walk out. That’s it! You can hang out if you’re loco! Well this newer location is somewhat an upgrade. Bigger in square footage and a few tables to actually sit and enjoy your sandwich. They retained the size, deliciousness and cheap price on their offerings. They’re still fast too. Oh their awesome fresh bread is easier to access located to the left as you walk in before the counter. $ 1⁄5?! Geez! Super cheap! On a hot day this place is an oven! No AC! Easy parking here. I’m loving this location!

Phat Tri’s 2nd location is in a commercial center that has plenty of parking. offerings:banh mi, pates. cookies, baked goods from other bakeries. eats: #1 combo(4.5) –lots of meats, veggies within. even the jalepenos i didn’t want –meats fresh, spread tasted like mayo, not pâté –large display on overhead board showing banh mi types and pricing crumbs: –no number given nor name taken, –banh mi came out in minutes. cashier handed banh mi to me personally(good memory!) –maybe the banh mi is smaller, cheaper though. ease of parking here makes this spot preferable. –space roomier so browsing much easier than story st. locale.

Bigger storefront than the one on Story Rd. Though the selections of banh mi here cost $ 4 but it is also shorter in length and smaller in width. Busier than the one on Story Rd., too. Still a «cash only» establishment. I’ll stick to the other location. Thank you.

I had this place in my bookmark but its the one in story road. Thankfully as I was going through the new and nearby places in my Unilocal app I found out that they have opened a new branch near my place. I just had to check it out! The place used to be a Vietnamese resto that changed into a phở place. Both didn’t do well so having the sandwich place was refreshing for me even though it was next to a bakery which used to make my favorite bahn mi…(had a change of heart after an encounter with an old cold cut and sad amounts of veggie in my sammish). Anyhoo, I came here with anticipation and ordered the #1 with veggies and also the roast beef sandwich with veggies on the side. There I see their $ 2 smaller sandwiches which is great for snacks or quick lunch — they got two versions, with veggies and meat only. They also have the loaves(5 for a $ 1) and a bunch of other stuff like biscuits, party trays of vietnamese delicacies, a fridge full of cold cuts, a table of patte, and different kinds of french butter. I really enjoyed looking at their goods. While I waited for my sandwiches I got to talk to the guy over the counter. He said that this was indeed a branch of the original store in Story Rd and they might be opening another one soon if I come and buy more stuff next time! funny guy! Well, the sandwich came and it was full of meat and right amount of veggies. It was going with butter and pâté which I loved. The hubs loved his no veggie roast beef sandwich and was full after finishing half of his sammish(we had each cut in half). So there you go, am a fan and will come back over and over and over… and over…
