Come here because of the«famous» orange sauce??? Not really that great, can’t figure out the buzz about it. The super burrito was good and not grease. Too many rowdy college kids from the nearby university.

Sometimes inconsistent, but overall, BESTORANGESAUCEEVER. Their shredded chicken quesadilla never disappoints. Whenever I have guests coming from out of town, I always bring em here for the orange sauce and everyone I’ve brought here loves it!

Terrible! Not Mexican. The Pastor was like mystery beef. Never again. You’re better off going to Taco Bell.

This was perhaps the worst Mexican food I’ve had in California — could be the worst I’ve had outside of new York City. The nachos are movie theater nachos: pump dispenser cheese, cardboard circle Sysco chips with extra salt. The meat in my burrito was still cold from the freezer, and was largely absent of any sort of flavor. This is not a California taco joint. The only reason you should eat here is that it appears to be the only place to eat downtown after 11pm. Save yourself the trouble — order delivery. *Two stars given solely for having Sidral on the beverage menu.

YASSS ! Orange sauce ! I’ve been here too many times at every hour and it never disappoints. Their carne asada super quesadilla is my go to. Grill to perfection. There’s very minimal seating at this location compared to the one by San Pedro square. But since the food comes out pretty quickly the tables turn over all quickly.

Located right next to SJSU, this is the original La Victoria Taqueria that is famous for their Orange Sauce that many places try to mimic, but fail miserably in comparison. You can actually purchase a bottle of their orange sauce for $ 6.00. This La Vics is located in an older Victorian house off E. San Carlos, so it is not your typical restaurant façade. This place is constantly busy with many students and locals that come to grab a burrito, taco, quesadilla and of course their nacho fries… yes, you heard me… instead of corn chips, they use french fries and smother it with all sorts of topping. It’s messy to eat, but great to share with a friend or two. Their meat selection is extensive compared to many places: carne asada, carnitas, pollo, pollo asado, chile verde, beef tongue, chorizo and al pastor. If meat is not your thing, they also have vegetarian options as well. I usually buy two of their regular tacos and it fills me up for a while. Their breakfast burritos are pretty good and filling. I usually opt for potatoes instead of beans in mine. Also, just for those craving breakfast burrito, note that their prices change. Before 11 am, it costs $ 3.95, but after 11 am, it goes up to $ 6.25 for the same item. Seating is limited, but many folks just take it to go. Parking is scarce unless you park in the parking structure or lot a block or so away.

I split the Carne asada fries and shredded chicken burrito with my sis and oh my goodnesssssss! Best carne asada fries I have ever had ESPECIALLY with the famous sauce they have. Only complaint I have is the young lady who rung us up gave some attitude when I asked her to change our order to «takeout» instead of eating there.

I used to frequent the San Jose area but never had La Vic’s until now. Although there are tons of taqueria’s in San Jose, La Vic’s claim to Fame is their orange sauce. Now I generally don’t fall to much for any kinda hype but in this case I did. And Unfortunately the sauce and the food here just didn’t do anything for me. I can be Honest with myself, That’s a mistake I made. because after hearing so many good things about this place for years from so many people, I had high expectations and its rare for anything to live up to expectations once you place them relatively high. La Vic’s is Located just a couple of blocks from the San Jose state university campus. their food has become synonymous with the campus and in my opinion you can tell they make it a point to cater to those college students. So When their craving good filling food at a reasonable price point, this is one of their go to spots. From what I’ve seen their open seven days a week but their busy Prime hours are Thursday’s through Sunday’s anytime after 8pm. Thats when the college and club crowd comes in and swarms for nothing but that classic la Vic’s taste. Because of this The place gets packed and food orders can be delayed because the lines will reach out the front door. So be patient. I will say this the staff here works extremely hard. They cater to their customers to the best of their abilities. The food, mainly the burritos and quesadilla’s are tasty but nothing special, in my opinion. However, The orange sauce does give it a kick and provides and different element and texture that will make you’re pallet and taste buds jump with excitement. So although there’s better out there, I can see why people are loyal and dedicated to La Vic’s and their food. As a side note, if you’re not in the mood to deal with drunk people or just don’t feel like dealing with large crowds. You can actually purchase a bottle of their famous orange sauce on its own for $ 6. I had no clue you could do that and plenty of people actually do but it in its own. I however will pass. Not because it’s not good, cause it’s tasty but because when will I ever realistically eat it? Especially if I’m not having tacos or burritos from la Vic’s or any other taqueria.

Convenient if you’re walking in the area, but the one thing that makes this place worth a try is the orange sauce. Otherwise, it’s all just calories and sloppy post-drinking food. We came mid-afternoon and it was low key. Not sure if it’s a regular occurrence, but an employee was mopping the floor with a really strong smelling cleaner. Definitely not what you want around my food or myself. Super taco with grilled chicken was ok, guac spicy. Really didn’t care for the nacho cheese smothered on the taco and drowning the nacho fries with carnitas. That should be swapped for shredded, melted cheddar!

La Vics is known for their orange sauce. and thats pretty much it. I use to eat here a lot, but over the years the people working there have become snobbier and rude. Their quesadillas are mediocre and their burritos are decent, but that doesnt mean that workers shouldnt be nice and approachable. The service here is shitty and the girls working behind the cashier are either bitchy or grumpy. I honestly dont know why, when they are blessed with unlimited tacos and burritos?! They also charge for refills. which I think is a joke.

Residing in San Diego I can’t say i’m a big fan of the food. I have has much better here in SD. But that orange sauce is legit! Every time my cousins are coming down to SD I ask them to bring me a bottle or 2 of the orange sauce. It taste much better on the mexican food in SD.

NOPE. Never again. When I eat mexican food and people are say it’s «authentic» I expect it to be a certain level. Saying you serve«Guacamole» when it’s obviously not made of fresh avocado is a HUGE let down. I LOVE nachos, ordered the super nachos, chips reminded me of stadium nachos w/cheese sauce and these«nice» toppings. Meat didn’t have much flavor, orange sauce didn’t have much favor. Whole dish lacked flavor. I ate maybe ¼th of it because I was hungry, but ended up throwing the rest away since it was such a let down. OVERALL, I wouldn’t come back unless I had NOTHING else to eat. I guess people do really love this place, not sure why. Possibly because it opens late?

My coworker and I came here because people kept telling us about the«orange sauce». Located right on the outskirts of San Jose State University, it’s pretty convenient. Parking was not a problem. The food was not particularly exceptional, but it’s probably because I’m from San Diego, and I know good Mexican food. The orange sauce is definitely not something I would consider«to die for», as most reviews suggest. I think I’m bias LOL. Living in San Diego, you literally have the best Mexican food around… being so to the border. The food here was just OK.

I used to love this place when I was in college as it was conveniently located down the street from my classes. I don’t know if the recipe got worse or my tastebuds have heightened but the quesadillas and burritos here are extremely salty! So salty I couldn’t even finish my food. I thought it was just me but I asked my salt-loving boyfriend what he thought and he agreed that it was salty(and that’s saying something!). I’ve given this place and the other one on branham a chance but I don’t think I’ll be coming here anymore. The orange sauce is still the bomb though!

Wait, what the heck? What’s with all the sauce hype?! Word to the wise, ITSNOTEVENGOOD! It’s garlic and creamy and it’s very spicy. I got the veggie burrito and I didn’t realize a burrito could ever be made so poorly. Even taco bell offers better quality burritos. The rice was over cooked and the lettuce tasted old and was wilted. The burrito just seemed like a soggy mess that couldn’t possibly be fixed by this miracle sauce?! I just don’t get it. Don’t be fooled here, you’re not missing anything but a stomach ache and regret.

Drunk or sober, La Vic’s super flour quesadillas ALWAYS hits the spot. La Vics has always been my go to spot whenever j was craving a delicious quesadilla, mostly in part due to their AMAZING and well-known ORANGESAUCE. I have no idea what’s in that thing, but it’s the crack sauce of the Mexican food world. I ALWAYS get the super flour quesadilla with carne asada because it gives me life. The flour tortillas are absolutely perfect. They’re crunchy, but not too crunchy, and has the perfect level of flakiness to it. The meat is good in my opinion, but I suppose others beg to differ. The mixture of guacamole, sour cream, cheese, pico de gallo, and orange sauce is amazing. Just writing this review is making me crave for it again… and I JUST had this. This particular location is open until 3AM I believe Thurs-Sun, which makes it perfect for drunchies or just late night munchies. The only thing that sucks is trying to find parking when the area is super busy. You’ll often times catch yourself in a sea of SJSU students any time of day you come in when school is in session. What I love about La Vics is their consistency. Any location I go to, it’s the same. So when I’m not trying to fight people for parking or PAY for parking, I typically wander over to the location on Alamden Expwy. Orange sauce is life. If you love it as much as many people do, you can grab a bottle for $ 12(I think)! I got one not too long ago, and put that Orange sauce on EVERYTHING! I finished that bottle in less than a week… ha oops.

Finally!!! This happened last night just about 11:30 and midnight. I happened to be in the area with an out of town friend and we wanted some late night eats. It seems like it doesn’t matter what time of night or day, this place will be cracking. We decided on the carne asada nachos and carne asada nacho fries! All I can say is BOMBDOTCOM!!! It was a food explosion in my mouth and probably the best decision that could have been made. That orange sauce is better than iguanas. At one point I thought of squirting it in my mouth but decided that it might have been a bad idea. Looking forward to coming back and trying other food items. So yummmmmmyyyy!

LOVE it. Consistency between the different shops really does make the difference. I have visited the downtown spot a few times, then hit the one across from SJ State a few weeks later, then back to the big parking lot one near first street. Easy to order, great food, and simply the best orange sauce ever. We use one bottle in under a week so we keep coming back for refills. Thanks La Vics!

I had this place bookmarked for a while because I’ve read some mixed reviews about it and would have loved to experience it myself. Driving is hard to find. You can find one around the premises but it’s metered parking. Jack In The Box is right next to it but you have to be a customer of Jack’s and it’s limited for 30 minutes. Luckily, I found one with 30 minutes in already! ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant itself is in the first floor of a renovated house. It’s quite small and the maximum capacity would probably be 15. It had a nice homey feel to it. FOOD: I was set on purchasing a burrito but I decided to get chicken flautas. It was buried in a ton of toppings so it was kind of hard to eat but it was still delicious. The rice and beans that came with it were average. Unfortunately, after finishing 3 flautas, I was still hungry. The orange sauce did make the food taste better so I highly suggesting a bottle if you’re dining in or get some to go! CUSTOMERSERVICE: It took me about 5 minutes to decide what I wanted to get and to order it. I waited between 10 – 15 minutes for my order to come. I had minimal contact with the employees so there’s really not that much to write about them. Would I come back here? Maybe. Would I recommend this to a friend? That’s also a maybe. This is not the best Mexican restaurant out there, but it’s a little bit above average just because of the orange sauce.

The orange sauce and spicy chile verde sauce makes them distinct from other taquerias, but I don’t think that’s all! I like their straightforward menu and quick service. Items such as quesadillas and tacos come in an option of Regular or Super with choice of meat. They’re the same size but the only difference with Super is added sour cream + guac. I ordered a grilled chicken and carne asada regular taco at 3.49 per. I was going to order a third one, but the cashier was kind to let me know that two would be enough to fill me up, haha. And surely it did! Nicely wrapped and stuffed with meat, tiny diced tomatoes, and kidney beans(which were a pleasant surprise.) I usually prefer steak but the chicken was better. The chile verde sauce is light and spicy compared to the moderately creamy orange sauce, but I enjoyed a mix of both. My palette was noticeably salty after I finished my meal but it was worth it. I’ll have to try the golden crispy quesadillas next. Plus a horchata! Also I will eat slower next time and disregard how fast my friends decide to vacuum up their food. Sometimes you have to remind yourself to savor every bite!
