I got the Loco Margarita and the Carnitas burrito, and I loved both! I had never been here before, and from what I read on Unilocal, the reviews were positive on alcoholic beverages and less so on food. But I didn’t see any reviews on the Loco, so I wasn’t expecting much from my meal choice, so I was pleasantly surprised. Service was great, despite reviews to the contrary. It was prompt, and when we had a spill, we had someone over immediately clearing it up for us. My burrito was huge; I only ate about a quarter of it and was looking forward to leftovers later. My husband finished his entrée and then finished off my burrito, much to my disappointment. I couldn’t even finish the margarita, it was so big. I will definitely be back. It was a good deal, especially with the 10% off check in coupon on Unilocal

First time here. Came on a Sunday night and the place was packed! Probably because everyone just finished watching the game. I really liked the Dia de Los Muertos Rock theme throughout. I had the Chicken Mole and was impressed! I usually shy away from chain restaurants because from my experience, they tend to down-grade food quality but this place had one of the best chicken mole’s I have ever had. The tortilla soup complimented my meal as well. Overall, a great atmosphere. Next time I’m back, I want to try one of the drinks! They look delicious!

I come here often. I really enjoy breakfast(I usually order chilaquillas) with a mimosa or lunch/dinner(enchiladas verde, nachos, or tacos) with a cocktail. Although I would not say«family friendly», there are kids/babies in here. This is a party hang out spot any hour of the day. This place is usually crowded but every time I come, there is no wait time and I can usually find a seat or two at the bar. There is security and they do check ID at the door. The patio is on the street(does not look safe). Great place to catch up with friends and watch a game!

I’ve been here before but mostly for the hennchatas. I came here for Taco Tuesday with 3 other friends. We got seated in the back because the whole front area was full(there was about to be a sharks game and taco tuesday). However, it took over 10 minutes for a server to come take our order and it was after someone had gone up by the front and asked for a server. However, after that, the service was better. We each ordered 6 tacos($ 1 on Tuesdays!!!) and got 2 hennchatas and a margarita. We also got chips and guac. Chips and guac: My friend really loved the chips but they were ok to me. They were pretty thick and baked. not sure what kind of flavor. Not a whole bunch of guac. Regular price $ 7 but happy hour price $ 3.50! Tacos: I got 3 carne asada(I meant to order 2 but said 3 apparently oops), 2 el pastor and 1 chorizo. My favorite was the chorizo but they were all pretty good. I definitely had to force down the 5th taco and gave my 6th taco to a friend. Margarita: It came with a little liquor bottle of Grand Marnier and it was good! If you’ve been to Chachos, you know they give you the huge cup. We were expecting to pay full price for the drinks and the chips/guac but the server let us know he had given us the happy hour price which made the drinks down from $ 13 to $ 10 and the chips/guac down to $ 3.50. It would be nice if they included happy hour times/selections on the menu or somewhere known though. I’d be back for Taco Tuesday but I would sit in the front to maybe get faster service. Good tacos though.(Warning: there is a lot of chopped onion and salsa on the tacos.)

What a disappointing experience! Having walked around the city looking for a place for drinks, food, and a good atmosphere, we ran across Chuchos which seemed to fit the bill. Plenty of wait staff and seats at the bar. Then it all went south. The bartender was neither welcoming or in a frame of mind to provide service. Really bad attitude. Why would the owners put her as the front facing person of their establishment? Reluctantly after waiting some time she took our drink and food order. First round of drinks were finished and 30 minutes later, still no food. We asked the status and she got really pissy with us and scowled. She went to the kitchen and said it would still be a while. We asked to cancel the order. At which point she got even more mad. I asked to speak to the manager and said the he was upstairs in his office and was unavailable. Just then, he walked in the front door. Why would shy lie to the customers? We spoke to the manager who apologized for the experience and took care of the bill. Overall bad service, over staffed with self absorbed employees, and very little care for the customers.

I don’t know why this place has only three stars. It’s great. The food is delicious, so as the drinks. Great atmosphere with some amazing, colorful pieces of art. It can be packed on the weekends though, but it’s still worth it. I been there twice and twice I got the mixed fajita which is excellent. So much flavor and spicy.

Came here as a «pre-game» spot before heading out to the bars on a Saturday night. It was quite busy but there were still many tables left. Before entering, you’ll have to go through security for him to check your ID. Chacho’s is a very spacious restaurant with plenty of TV’s and a bar area. I had the Mangolada & the Henchata. According to the menu, the Mangolada consists of: mango purée, fresh lime juice, triple sec, chile rum, tamarind straw, and topped with a 50ml Don Julio Blanco Tequila. Unfortunately, they ran out of the Don Julio & had replaced it with another type of tequila, which still tasted good! It was more on the sour side, but at the same time, I could still taste the tequila. It reminded me of the Mangonadas hence. Mangolada… Haha! The Henchata consisted of Chacho’s house horchata topped with a 50ml mini bottle of Hennessy. THISWASMYFAVORITEDRINK! I didn’t think Hennessy and horchata would taste so well together! It blends the alcohol in very well to the point where the alcohol wasn’t too strong. This drink is perfect for those who aren’t into the taste of alcohol! The service was great! The server was able to give us almost half off on the Mangolada(because they ran out of Don Julio Blanco Tequila) and $ 1 off of the Henchata without us even asking or mentioning it. Yay! There’s a food menu that I definitely have to come back to try!

I’ll give them two stars because their henchata is a creative concept. However, the service was slow and our orders got mixed up. Then the waitress asked if we wanted to make our henchata wicked, she said it was an extra shot of patron, so we went for it. That waitress was trippin, because the henchata came out tasting like cinnamon. I think she confused nasty af Fireball for patron. If I do ever comeback, no fireball henchata for me, just the regular.

Great food but pretty bad service!!! It’s great that they do dollar tacos every Tuesday all day. If you don’t want to wait in line or have bad service — I would recommend coming at least by 11:30AM. When we got there around 12:15ish and waited about 10 mins or so. We ordered our tacos but it took them 45 – 50 mins to serve our food. I also wanted a water refill so I asked one of the waiters if they can refill my water and he straight up said«no, sorry. I’m not your waiter.» HORRIBLESERVICE! I’d definitely would come back for the food(maybe just take out) and come early so I don’t have to deal with that nonsense service.

I went here for breakfast this morning and got a breakfast burrito with eggs, cheese, bacon, chorizo, and sour cream and it was more than excellent. There was no one there so my service was fast and friendly. There was a really beautiful woman working at the bar which was a very nice plus too. :) Will definitely eat here again.

Tequila? Yes, they have Tequila, LOTS of Tequila. Great Margarita selection too with a unique presentation where they place an inverted mini-bottle of Tequila or other liqueur that empties into your glass automatically as you drink. Pozole was delicious as was the steak a la Chicana. Tacos al Pastor was also good but missing the pineapple by default(they added it on request)

Came here on a Tuesday night for their Taco Tuesday deal. $ 1 tacos before 7pm. My friend and I each ordered some tacos and a order of nachos. Service was incredibly slow. 40 minutes after we ordered we still didn’t get our tacos and the server brought us out chips and salsa. The waiter said there the kitchen was backed up or something. The chips were stale but we ate some anyway because we were so hungry waiting for our food. I tried the al pastor, carnitas, and carne asada tacos. The meat was dry so I had to drown them in salsa. Nachos would’ve been good but the stale chips ruined it.

Horrible service! Sat outside, server never asked if we needed refills or new drinks. I guess sitting outside means your not a client. My food was cold, asked if I could get It heated. 15 minutes later I get my cold tacos again, after my whole table was done eating. Server didn’t come back to see if we needed anything. BADSERVICE!!! He even took my plate back without asking. My friend was there the night before and said she had a great experience with a server named Josh! Where is JOSH? !!

I had lunch for the first time here with a friend who introduced me to something new for once. I was REALLY tempted to get this drink(don’t remember the name of it), but it was like a margarita/Sangria swirl drink. They have Happy Hour in the weekday afternoons which is good to know for next time. I ordered their chicken nachos and OMG was that plate big enough to feed an entire village of people! Hugest plate of nachos my eyes have ever seen. They were pretty good with all fresh and flavorful ingredients/toppings. Next time I’ll see if they do half portions so I won’t have so much to take home haha. Overall, I’d definitely love to return to Chacho’s especially during their Happy Hour to try the drinks. Yay for trying new places! :-)

We wanted to know what the fuzz was about so we decided to try it out. We ordered the henchata, mangolada, and margarita sangria. The drinks were very good and huge size. A bit too big for me. You need to drink fast otherwise you end up with watered down drink if you dont We also ordered the nachos which were eh okay good size. Wouldn’t come back for the food or recommend it. Over all would maybe come back for the drinks but not sure since they are pricey.

Go for the atmosphere and the whimsical décor(and if you are a woman, you cannot miss take your selfie next to Frida Kahlo and Amy’s posters). Do not expect that much from the food, though. I was utterly disappointed last night when, after a long wait(and the restaurant mostly empty at around 9 pm) it took forever to get our drinks and food. We were a group of 8 people and we didn’t order any sophisticated dish, just plain tacos and quesadillas… don’t understand why it took forever, waitress seemed confused, we have to ask for utensils and overall there was a lack of service. I think is not the servers or chefs fault, they are simply understaffed in my opinion. On another note, if you check-in on Unilocal you will get a 10% discount of the entire order, the oilcloths adorn the tables in a kitsch charming way, the art in the walls is very cool(especially the painting of lucha libre fighters is very appealing, plus the fuchsia wall with all those Latino celebrities depicted in white. I love the vibe, I want the food to be better and the music volume down, please!

Food bad. Drinks bad. Not even worth the visit. HENNCHATANOTEVENWORTH. I came here specifically for the drink that has been all over my social media, but for $ 12 I got ice, one shot of Henny, and horrible horchata. You are better off buying horchata elsewhere and your own handle of Hennessy. The upside down bottle didn’t help it mix well, it tasted somewhat better when I just dumped it in the drink and mixed it myself. There’s so much ICE, that halfway through your meal you’re just drinking watered down hennchata. Food I already knew coming in was going to be bad, but we didn’t want to go to a separate place for dinner, so we were like hey can’t be that bad. But yes it was bad. I’m sure being drunk wouldn’t have made it any better. The food was greasy and also looked a bit sketch IMO. I had the Hawaiian and El Rey tacos. They both ended up tasting the same and equally bad. It didn’t even look tasty. Just a bunch of black charred meat on a tortilla. It was so greasy that the oils leaked through the paper it was on which kept ripping into my food. The tacos had more stuffing that I had to eat it with a fork/knife, not cool. But with each bite, I had to make sure I didn’t eat any food prep paper… My friend had a chimichanga which was huge, but it looked very doughy. Not coming back ever, even if the drinks are supposedly good, I can go to another bar elsewhere in DTSJ

My friends and I came on a busy Friday night. It took 30 mins for a table and it was awkward the entire time because they didn’t really have seating for you while you wait. Finally we got seated at a table and our server brought us complimentary chips and salsa which were quite tasty. My friends decided on the fish tacos and I got the chicken nacho fries. Oh man — the portion for my nachos were huge. I couldn’t even finish it(made a great midnight snack later on). Now of course we had to get some drinks with our meal! The mangolada was as delicious as I had hoped! Tangy and not overwhelmingly strong, even with the bottle of alcohol draining into it. I loved that I got to munch on the candy afterwards. Fun drink overall. Well the food was amazing, the drinks were satisfying, and the service was great. Plus side was that when we checked in on Unilocal, there’s a 10% discount on the bill. Only downsides are the size of the establishment and the fact that it’s downtown so parking can be hard.
