Today I had a really bad experience, i was very disappointed i like curry up now a lot. But today when I ordered the Samosa it was not cooked properly it still had the raw dough inside. So I told them to replace it. They did replace the samosa this time it seemed they cooked it for little longer the oitside were crispy but still again at the bottom it had the raw dough. It really sad they cant make a basic samosa. I was the biggest fan boy of curry up now but i will not recommend it to any one.

I’ve been here twice for brunch and they’ve been out of coffee both times. They also couldn’t serve orange juice«because the bartender wasn’t in». They were out of marmalade for the toast. It took them 30 minutes to bring out my crepes, and they didn’t have any fruit. I get that Curry Up Now isn’t traditionally a big brunch place, but it’s insane that they would bother opening for brunch and have such a poor stock of basics.

This place is super busy in the evenings and it’s fairly hard to find parking as well. So be prepared. The place itself is bustling, softly lit and welcoming. Full of chatter and the smell of food, I loved it right away. The Paneer kathi roll, while tasty wasn’t quite enough for a full meal. The deconstructed samosa was hot, spicy with crispy bits of samosa. I ordered the paneer topping and it was quite enough for a meal and then some to take home.(Makes the car smell though!) Sexy fries: crispy and sweet they were just right. My friend had a rice based entrée and she wasn’t quite happy with the freshness of the rice. Although it had quite a few bites missing(Thanks to our yes-stale, no-fresh debate) they replaced it for her. The ambience is lovely, bollywood inspired walls that start at least one fun conversation. Definitely visiting again. :)

Food here is okay, but service was very friendly and attentive. That’s what won over to 4 stars. Very modernized and not if you’re looking for authentic Indian cuisine. :) Bar looks amazing and folks seem to enjoy. Food sounds and looks interesting. My husband and I ordered an entrée and two small plate/snack dishes. We ordered the Tikka Tikka hummus dish with chicken and the hummus was flavorful and garlicky, which made the dish(comes with naan triangles, rice, red radish, grilled kabob chicken, and the hummus). Overall, a pretty good average meal choice. Small fish was delicious: Guac Sev Puri — guacamole on crispy crackers with a tamarind chutney sauce and sprinkled crunchy noodles. Nice starter dish; recommend this one if you enjoy avocado and guacamole. We loved their samosas — yummy seasoning and crispy pastry stuffed with potatoes and peas and the delicious, spicy kick tamarind and cilantro sauces. Only thing is the samosas were forgotten so we had to remind the staff to check on the order. Because of our wait, they kindly made it quickly and voided our order so we got it complimentary and threw in bomb diggity smelling churros! Lol We appreciate the gesture and great service! You’ve won us over and commend your professional service! Great dine in experience compared to my first time here ordering take out. It was crazy because it was only open a few weeks when I came. Love that this spot is close to where we live – right around the corner.

Quick service. Food is good-ok. We had the sexy fries w/paneer, naughty naan, and sexy fries w/chicken. Next time I’ll have to check out the bar.

Got the guac chaat and the tikka masala bowl. The portions for the guac chaat were small. And avocado with a sprinkle of onions and tomato is NOT guac. Tikka masala bowl tasted good but it was salty. I liked the Curry Up in San Mateo much better.

Food is a little pricy. In general, food tastes good but it’s a bit too oily. The service is quick but can be improved with regards to hiring friendly folks. Update to my previous 3 star review. My husband and I met a group of friends here for dinner tonight. We went there at 8pm and the place was fairly empty. We walked and moved tables around to fit our group of 11(yes, that empty on a Saturday night). We ordered food and then everything went downhill from there. All my friends except me got their food. 1.5hrs later, still no food for me. We checked with the staff a couple of times during this and they assured us that my food would be out right away. 20 mins later still no food. When I enquirer at the counter, they were super rude, did not apologize and just asked if I want my money back and leave!!! What??? At this point I got upset, because it first reaction was here take ur money back and leave! When I asked them what about me patiently waiting for almost 2hrs. They said we are really busy, we can’t help it!!! This guy at the counter actually told me «I am done talking to u»! Rude and arrogant! Never going back there. I hope they get treated badly when they go out to dinner sometime and wait for 2hrs only to be told, take ur money and leave.

I’ve been here 3 times. First time. It took 20 mins to get my food. They messed up with my order. Got Chicken when I ordered Paneer. The apology seemed sincere. Second Time. Not too bad. Third time. I don’t learn from my mistakes. I am here again. 36 mins and I still haven’t gotten my order. So naturally, I come on Unilocal to write a review. I’m hoping the food is as good as it was in 2009 when I used to eat at their truck in Redwood Shores(every Friday, was it?) Update(was 1 star, updated to two stars): Ok, so we got our orders 10 mins after we spoke to one of the guys preparing food. My burrito was as usual very good. I asked for some raitha/yoghurt — I was asked to pay for it(their Palo Alto location doesn’t charge people for yoghurt and I assumed the same here, I was obviously wrong) I waited in line for 5 mins and there was no cashier — I gave up and told them I’ll pay later, they said it’s fine I don’t have to. So, yay? Umm, so. Will I wait 45 mins for a burrito again? Probably not. Updating to 2 stars only because the food was good. If you ask me why not 3. Because, their service has been consistently poor.

We have a location in our building… so we go here often. The concept is very simple… american/mexican dishes with a Indian twist… so u get enchiladas, burritos, bowls and several other with Indian flavors… There are essentially 2 sauce bases to all dishes. the tikka sauce and the saag paneer… what ever dish you order essentially has one of these in it… We got the saag paneer enchilada and the sexy fries yesterday… The enchilada is a paratha with saag paneer inside. broiled with cheese on top… and tikka sauce for the enchilada red sauce… the sexy fries came with paneer tikka on waffle cut sweet potato fries… every tasted delicious… the paneer always feels fresh and delicious… I also like their burrito with paneer in a tortilla… This definitely is a place to give a try… might get redundant on the palate after awhile but still tasty :) Hey people have been eating fries for years and they never complained they taste the same.

This is the first Curry Up Now I’ve been too and I really only came here for the Sexy Fries(I can’t resist fancy fries!). Which were pretty tasty but definitely not a well rounded meal. $ 9.50 before tax. Waffle cut sweet potato fries with curry sauce, cheese, and choice of meat(chicken tikka masala for me). Good dish but the chicken was almost beside the point since I couldn’t taste the flavor underneath the admittedly good curry sauce and melty cheese that wouldn’t let go of the dish. Tasted pretty much like sweet potato fries with curry sauce and cheese. Service as others have noted is not that great. The person who took our order didn’t ask for a name and didn’t give us a number. Then we saw them walking around with the order looking lost. Then the manager came out and asked us about our order. After we ascertained that it was indeed our order walking around looking lost he then had to double confirm with the server to pack it up to go. I know this place is one of those fast casual restaurants but it felt like it took a lot longer than it should have considering it was almost 2pm and there were only 6 customers.

Agree with others that the food is decent but the service is very lacking. Came in for Sunday brunch at 10AM, pretty empty and the music is blaring like it’s the club, not a restaurant. Tried to order the Sightglass coffee and they were out… of ALL coffee. Really? Had to ask to have the music lowered, had to ask for our waters that we asked for at checkout, had to ask for a knife. Won’t return because they don’t really have it together.

Came here at around 12:46 pm and I thought it would be pretty empty but there was still a line out the door. The line moved faster than my hanger could grow so no big deal. I ordered the deconstructed samosa(with paneer) and the Peace, Love, Vegan(PLV) Thali with turmeric rice, as well as the mango lassi to share with my boyfriend. =PLV Thali: 3⁄5DAMN. I was not expecting so much food! The garbanzo beans were by far the spiciest.(My tastebuds could not handle this lol) The tofu was not as spicy but I thought it was bland and a bit oily for my taste. I liked the potato/cauliflower the best but I wish it had more cauliflower. It was 80% potatoes and peas. The pickled beets and tomato side dishes helped to balance out the spice of the other little dishes. I also liked the turmeric rice because it wasn’t very greasy. The texture of the papadum(white crispy cracker) and the paratha(reminds me of a scallion pancake minus the scallions) went well with the thali. Overall, delicious! =Deconstructed samosa: 4⁄5 My favorite out of the two dishes because it had some sweetness to balance out the spice. Wish it came out a bit hotter? The dish came out kind of lukewarm but the samosas weren’t soggy which was good. =Mango Lassi: 3⁄5 I used to not be able to go 2 bites of Indian food without taking a huge gulp of Mango Lassi. I think my spice tolerance has gone up considerably so I only needed a tiny hit of Mango Lassi this time around lol. I liked that it wasn’t too sweet. Side note: They didn’t offer us water cups when we ordered so we had to ask for water at the bar. Beware, your filling meal will have you nodding off at your desk after lunch! ;) 3.5

Fantastic place, was trying to go to Wahoo but they closed early because of holiday hours and I’m glad they did since we got to try this place. I got a chicken tikka masala burrito and that was really good, we also got a appetizer of samosa’s which was also pretty good as well. The décor is very nice with a nice bar attached as well. I will definitely be coming back.

This place was really cool. Definitely has a different vibe than 90% of similar restaurant in the category. The décor is REALLYREALLY cool and …“hip”. When you walk up the menu is almost up on the ceiling and they have a huge offering of Indian food. When we walked up to order the first thing I noticed on the menu was actually a drink… they have an ABSINTH based drink! Like what?! We didn’t order it this time around even though the bar area looks really nice. The chicken tika missala was super tasty. My girlfriend got it in the burrito format and she really liked it. She’s extremely picky about her Indian food but loved the different format. I don’t remember the exact dish I got«naughty something» which was VERYVERY good. It was a little wet for me but still super yummy. Will definitely come back!

I went there last night for dinner because I had a craving for samosas! I ended up ordered the chicken tikka masala sexy fries and 1 samosa. The samosa was delicious as well as the cilantro sauce that came with it. It could have been a little hotter though. The samosa was the size of my fist, so be careful on how many you order, you will get full. The sexy fries were so so. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. Service was good and quick. I will try the place again being that it’s so close.

If this is the result every time, I should have low expectations for lunch more often. Supposed Menu: Samosas, paneer, chicken(veg don’t care), rice… ehh sounds fine What we really got: Yes, all the aforementioned were included. However: Naan — The most buttery melt in your mouth naan ever. OMG with little bubbles and naan where you could peel off one side, it was just so darn amazing I couldn’t stop eating it.(Sorry, I had to stop typing for a second to go get two more pieces — confirmed amazing!) Salad — Now this wasn’t just any old salad. OMG the naan croutons. Naan croutons. You heard me, and this was just the beginning. Fresh creamy feta and tiny bits of… is that parm? Fresh mixed greens and mandarin oranges also. BUT croutonss. Chana Masala — Holy tasty spices! The only things I wasn’t too impressed with was the paneer… meh. Wasn’t crazy about the sauce and the rice was a tiny bit dry. But, it’s naan a problem… get it? The naan and croutons make up for that entirely! If you miss this place, the only one you’re hurting is yourself. Glad I finally got a chance to try it! OMG I’m still eating naan croutons as I type getting my keyboard slightly greasy. Every bite is so worth it.

I am a stickler for fresh food. Most bay Area Indian restaurants fail miserably when it comes to consistency in serving fresh food, leave alone the taste. Curry-up is my new default place to go and the food is EXCELLENT. I want to publicly acclaim here the genius who came up with this concept of Punjabi-fusion(with so much attention to details) .Seriously when was the last time you visited a bay area restaurant that had great ambience, cheerful waiters, interesting food choices, amazing quality, cozy furniture and clean floors? If it has been a while, I feel your pain — Just go to curry up now and salvage your spirit and undying love for Indian food. PS: That Dal dessert with nuts and ghee — OMG!!! Foodgasm!

Came here to try it out because it was close by. I ordered the butter chicken bowl and samosas. My friends ordered the sexy fries with chicken tikka masala and also the one with paneer. The bowl was pretty small and there was not enough rice. The sexy fries were meh and $ 10 for a pretty small serving. The samosas were huge and the chutney they come with were good. I might come back to try other stuff, but it was just meh Indian food.

Walked in at 11:45am on a Friday to a short line inside Curry Up Now. The menu might look big and slightly intimidating, but a lot of the items aren’t available yet. See the papers posted while you’re in line to see which. The line moved rather slowly, but the food came out in about 15 minutes, which was much faster than expected considering others’ complaints for slow service. Deconstructed samosa plate with rice(+$ 1.50) was a great huge helping of food! The Naughty Naan with chicken tikka masala was delicious and filling as well. The menu says it comes with a side salad, yet when inquired they stated there was no side salad. Please fix your board to accurately reflect what you offer. I was looking forward to having veggies with this heavy dish, but it was still delicious and filling regardless. Large variety of seating, from high tops to faux snake(?) skin chairs and couches and what not. At lunch time, the outdoor seating is shady and delightful. Would probably come back for lunch and/or dinner when the mood for indian food strikes again, or when some libations are in order(I won’t neglect you Mortar and Pestle). Keep working at it, Curry Up Now!

We had the pleasure of checking this spot out for dinner. We actually never had Curry Up Now until this first experience. This latest branch is located in North SJ near Paxti’s and Wahoo’s. Space is airy and comfortable. On one side of the restaurant you have the bar area which is called«Mortar & Pestle» while the other side is seating for the restaurant. For our first time, we ordered a libation and tried out a mix of dishes including Itsy Bitsy Naan Bits, Biryani Arancini, Vada Pav and Tikka Masala Burrito. While everything was extremely tasty, we found that the burrito was our fave. We chatted with the owner and he was really welcoming and helpful. Overall, we definitely enjoyed our initial meal here and look forward to trying more.
