I have been a customer of Mark’s for almost 15 years and he has never disappointed me with one of his cuts. I recently relocated back to the Bay Area this past year but have been traveling to see him over the years… he is that good. He is a true artist and has a talent for styling cuts that are custom tailored to the texture of your hair and your face /bone structure. My hair is very curly and thick and over the years Mark has helped me transition my hair from super short(at one point cutting off eight inches), to super long hair that reached almost halfway down my back. He can really do it all and he is an amazing stylist. One phase he likes to use I believe sums up his whole philosophy: «single hair perfection». Voila un artiste!

Mark is the best hands down. When I lived in San Francisco, after I started going to Mark, people frequently stopped me to compliment my hair. When I first moved to New York, and Mark had given me my haircut, people here stopped me daily to compliment my hair. Now that I’ve been away from Mark for years, not so much. I’ve tried a lot of suppossedly great hair dressers in New York City and NOONE compares to Mark. Last summer I went back and he did my hair for an event, and I was reminded of his greatness. He’s spoiled me for life.

Mark Lewis is an absolute master of hair, and his place is like a magical fairy-tale village full of buddhas, crystals and a jungle of plants. His prices are high end, but you don’t look like a cheap girl.

I’m one of the ladies who drive over the bridge so Daniel can do my hair. I have long hair with excellent layer done by Daniel. I constantly have people compliment me on my hair cut and color; which for having long hair a compliment on the cut shows how precise Daniel is. He is VERY meticulous about his work and it show. He is also a riot. Daniel will NOT do anything that he thinks will damage your hair, i. e I wanted to be honey brown but he kindly explained to me that going from such a dark color as mine to a much lighter color takes time so my hair wouldn’t be damaged. I know he wasn’t just trying to get more money out of me by making me come back in six week because he gave me a fabulous deal. I won’t go to anyone but Daniel to do my hair. It is a long process, but by no means boring :)

It’s true, blondes do have more fun and Daniel can make sure you have all the fun you can handle. There is NOONE better at color and no one better at making you feel like a super model(even if you are post 40). Daniel is a genious and worth the drive(I come in from the East Bay). Daniel has a unique style of making you feel attractive and business appropriate. But ladies, you’ll never beat his drag-queen look!

I followed Daniel Solsana here from Walnut Creek… Yes, he’s THAT good. He does amazing color and cuts, and makes me laugh with his stories all the way through. He makes me feel like an 23 year old starlet rather than the 43 year old mom that I am. He moved from Walnut Creek to San Francisco to this great salon where I get to drink Chardonnay and enjoy the loft style atmosphere complete with his little dog, Dingleberry, who cuddles on my lap during my cut.

What happened to my review? Anyway, one point I had a horrible bob cut that looked like lion’s mane. I am not exaggerating at all. I was on a mission to find somebody who can fix it right. My fitness instructor gave me the name and even though he had never been to Mark because he shaves, he has sent a number of his clients to Mark and got them hooked. I didn’t case how much it costs. I needed a good haircut pronto. I had my fingers crossed because I was spending $$$. He asked what I wanted and I told him«just do what ever you want». And there he was he was cutting my hair and I thought I was in Edward Scissor hand. The scene Edward cuts hair and hair flies everywhere and he looks like … Yeah exactly. End product was a proof that I started referring him as Edward Scissor hand. Mark is good. You really get what you paid for. I am ready for new haircut. I am calling him now…

If you enjoy paying $ 150 for a haircut, Soviet-style inflation pricing(price goes up every couple of haircuts) and to be verbally abused by your hairdresser, then this is the place for you. I personally enjoy a mellower hair-do experience, so I Unilocaled and I Unilocaled, and now get a rad hair cut every couple of months at Edo for less than half the price. One star because, I have to admit, Mark is super-talented. But his attitude far outshines the talent.

Tremendous talent but you can be sure that they know it. Even their assistants won’t let you forget it. Despite the attitude and the prices it is a fun experience and two main guys do Amazing things with hair.

I have been seeing Devin for facials for about 4 years, through a move in the salon and several neighborhood moves for me. I’m very happy with his work and trust his judgment with my sensitive skin. I have never left with a fried or over-treated face. He will spend time to recommend good products for your skin concerns and give advice even if you aren’t buying from the salon. Also, I have never encountered poor service, a hard sell or a hipper-than-thou attitude — something that spoils many a salon or spa experience. Overall, facials with Devin are a pleasant experience, a good value, and I leave feeling like I’ve had a spa treatment and a skin seminar all in one.
