MC’s review and info is exactly right. I am so impressed with YMCA’s Scripps Ranch summer camps. My son went to a Legoland camp with them and also an adventure camp. The camp counselors are friendly, attentive and organized. I appreciate that they make the sign in and check out process efficient and safe too(they check your ID). The camp activities provide a variety of fun adventures. I highly recommend these camps. :-) A week after my son finished camp, his camp counselor mailed him a personal hand-written note thanking him for being a good camper. What a nice thing to do!

I’m always on the lookout for new things to do for my child. And in San Diego, there is never a lack of things to do(love this kid friendly city!). This summer, we decided to try the camps offered by the Rancho Family YMCA. It was relatively easy to enroll but you do have to visit the office to complete an application form. Payment was even deferred until a few days before camp started. The meeting place for the camps were offsite at Scripps Ranch rather than the YMCA facility at Rancho Penasquitos. It’s an open space with canopies and picnic tables set up as meeting stations. The kids wait here until the busses come in to pick them up and bring them to other facilities for activities. The kids are dropped off again at the end of the day for pick up. There is a roundabout for easy drop off, or parking spaces if you want to walk your child to the registration desk(recommended for the younger children as the parking lot does get busy). Make sure you bring a hat, jacket and apply lots of sunscreen as there is minimal cover on hot and sunny days.
