I like American influenced Chinese food even though I grew up in Taiwan and am familiar with traditional Chinese cuisine. However, there are many different restaurants and they are not all created equal. Out of many popular Chinese food chains, Pei Wei is a decent one. It is a lower priced chain which is owned by PF Chang company and is created to serve in a more causal meals. I like the style of Pei Wei. You go to the counter and order your food at the cashier. They give you a number and the food will be brought to your table. It’s not a full service restaurant so it is much more causal than PF Chang. Because of this, they have quicker turn-overs and it is a popular place for lunch! My favorite dish here is orange peel steak with fried rice. They do a very good job on the steak! First of all, good quality beef which was sliced thicker than usual to prevent overlooking and better flavor. Most of steak dishes are slightly fried their steak before sauté with the sauce. Unfortunately, most of their sauces are very sweet and salty which is understandable for more Americanized Chinese food. I highly recommend their fried rice!!! They share the same technique as PF Chang and their fried rice is excellent! If you are coming for lunch, make sure you arrive early before noon because they get really busy during lunch time.

Maybe it’s because I rode my bike for hours today but I was so hungry and this place was all I wanted. Got the honey shrimp with noodles and Rangoon. This place hit the spot and there was nothing left when I was done. The rangoon are mostly crab and not much cream cheese which isn’t exactly how I would prefer them but they are still good. Just know that they’re sea foody. I enjoyed the noodles instead of rice and will try that again. The prices here are a little high but I enjoyed it so much I will be back soon.

Looking for a good place to eat in San Diego, Here is one. The food and quality is amazing here. It is a little expensive but so worth it, you definitely get what you par for. The service is so good here and the atmosphere so relaxing. Very casual but an upscale vibe.

So good! Delicious soups, lettuce wraps, salads… Many different Asian cuisines. Friendly, fast service! Definitely becoming a regular customer here!

I ordered the Sesame Chicken and my girlfriend ordered the Thai Dynamite Chicken. Both dishes weren’t very good. Very strong vinegar taste and not much other flavor. Tastes like Chinese food from the frozen food section at the grocery store. Stick with Panda Express if you want Chinese fast food.

Horrible experience. Filthy inside. Stinks on the outside like sewage. To top it all off, there was hair in the food. Yuck!

This place is literally the worst, the only reason why I came here was because I vaguely remember one of my friends said peiiwei was legit at some point in the past. AUGHHROOKIEMISTAKE. Peiwei makes panda express and pickupstix look gourmet, thats how shitty this place is. I was here on a sunday afternoon at like 3pm and it was still packed af. I ordered Honey seared chicken togo and they forgot my order, and I feel like they kinda just made it in a hurry because it was just like super tough chicken breast and some mediocre sweet and sour sauce on a bed of dry rice. JUSTSAYNO ! You are better off at cornerstone bakery or chipotle right next door.

Super decent for a «fast food» chain. I won’t even touch Panda Express because it’s so greasy and heavy but Pei Wei is a lot better quality and fresher in taste. Their crispy honey shrimp with brown rice is my favorite as well as the chicken Lo mein. The chicken lettuce wraps aren’t bad either. The service is always nice and one thing I always notice when i dine in is that management is always walking around and helping out, which is a sign of a well oiled ship.

This place is loud(pot and pans, plates being slammed around). The food was pretty bad which is what you can expect from fasts food but the portions were very small. Basically like walking into a Panda Express except you pay a little more, get less, and they serve it on a plastic plate.

I ate here a few weeks ago and the food was great and you get a lot for your money. Definitely will be going back to this place again

Fast food Chinese, a step above Panda Express. Food is a little salty. Portions are huge. Was disappointed with what I ordered, my friend ordered something totally different and her meal and mine looked exactly the same. Made it a little unappetizing.

The place always has a line but I really don’t know why. Sure, the food is good, but just good and not really great. I’ve had a few things like the sushi, chicken noodle dishes, and other things, and nothing really stood out at me. Then again, it is nice coming here sometimes because their prices are good and they get the food out quick. Definetely go if you’re close and craving Chinese-ish food and don’t feel like going far.

Food was ok. Ordered for pickup. Ordered soup but it wasn’t worth for what I paid for. Spring rolls was good as well but it would’ve been better if they gave me the peanut sauce I asked for. The wonton in my soup was over cooked. Every time I scooped one up, the wrap would fall apart. Very salty and can’t even taste the lemongrass in there. Might go back to taste other things…

Hey for what this restaurant is, it was super awesome. Quick Chinese food that is tasty. We ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and one Ginger Chicken and Broccolli. Both dishes were really great. The service people were all very friendly and quick. All I can say is that I wish we had this chain in Toronto. Was really great and fresh.(Only negative was the sushi roll that we ordered — wouldn’t order sushi at this restaurant — far from authentic)

I am going to have to just say no to Pei Wei. The customer service was outstanding, the place was clean, and the food came out fast and fresh; but no, just no… There was just too much heavy sauce. It was very salty. My Kung Pao wasn’t very spicy. It was also dark, loud, and full of kids here. Not my jam! It’s located near Target. It’s a very busy shopping center, but you should have no issues parking. This is a very popular place, so I am sure it’s good for some, but it was just too heavy for me.

Stopped by here before my night class at UCSD Extension. Wasn’t too hungry but figured I should eat something or I would be hungry later. I ordered: crab cream cheese wontons kids meal honey chicken with white rice($ 3.99) They didn’t have me any sauce for the wontons, soooo disappointed! The chicken was mediocre, I didn’t like it. I threw most of the food away. I’m usually a fan of Pei Wei too :(

With all of the to-go orders I’ve placed where they’ve quoted a time, I’ve gotten there 5 minutes after, and am still stuck waiting 10+ minutes for my food to be ready, you’d think I’d give them a bad review. But I can’t, Pei Wei is just too damned good. I’ll be honest, If you hate P.F. Changs and it’s Americanized version of Chinese food, you’ll hate Pei Wei as well. But for those of you who dig it, It can’t be beat. Pei Wei literally rips off P.F. Change menu(they’re owned by them) and gives you smaller portions for a MUCH lower price. It’s excellent for take out and since it’s individual, you can get it as spicy as you want without irritating your husband. My favorite dish is the sesame chicken. It’s the perfect balance of sweet, tangy and spicy. Their kung pao chicken and lettuce wraps are awesome as well. The only negative thing is they pile on the sauce like most Chinese restaurants. I’ve had my chicken literally soaking in a pool of it before. I always ask for light sauce and then it’s the perfect amount.

Asian fusion style food that is always hot fast and fresh. It is consistently delicious and tonight I had a craving. It’s always full of people but they take orders really quickly so you never have to wait long for your meal My favorite is Honey seared chicken and it’s much the same menu as PF Changs as it is by the same owners. The coolest thing about getting a drink here is their coke machine. It’s an automated box that can served up about a hundred different versions of your flavored coke classic. Prices are moderate and you can even get half orders on appetizers so bring the whole family!

Korean chicken isn’t on the new menu at Pei Wei’s.)-; My Kung Pao chicken with brown rice was pretty good, and I always enjoy the hot and sour soup. Pei Wei’s is quick and tasty, and they fire up your food after you order at the counter. It’s a reliable stop for a casual meal if you have a movie date at the AMC Mission Valley 20 theater in the same mall, Mission Valley Mall. There are 2 sushi items on the new menu, but I haven’t tried them yet. The new menu still features wok’d entrees such as Kung Pao and Orange Peel, and you choose your protein. I like the chicken. They also have noodle dishes, such as Pad Thai. Pei Wei is an Americanized Asian Fusion fast-food concept. The tables are close together, so you won’t have any privacy. It’s best for a quick meal when you want some veggies & protein with«Asian» inspired flavors, and a quick meal. You can eat for less than $ 10, but you’ll pay more if you add an appetizer and soup. They have a self-serve soft drink machine with lots of choices. I like the diet caffeine free vanilla coke, or the iced tea. Location: Pei Wei’s is basically in the parking lot of the Mission Valley mall, on the corner of Mission Center Road and Camino de la Reina. It’s near Target and Macy’s. I recommend Pei Wei’s over anything in the food court! Note that Pei Wei’s is NOT in the food court. The food is decent for the price, and they are quick.
