This review is only for the location and Rosca De Reyes I have not tried any of there other breads. This is a small Mexican bakery close to the I-5 in Barrio Logan. The parking lot is a little tight but if you are patient you can wait for a spot or find parking on the street. I bought a small rosca, I was looking for just enough for the office. It was $ 16 which I thought was a little pricey. It was about 12 inches long and it didn’t look like it was worth the price until we cut it open and saw that it stuffed with candied fruit and nuts(Walnuts to be exact so if you have an allergy beware). This is the first time that I eat or see a rosca stuffed with most of the fruit/candy that usually goes in the outside. We all liked it, the breading was good traditional rosca bread, the stuffing made sure you had a yummy bite every time. If I am ever in the area I will try their Mexican bread since the rosca was good. They did not have any when I stopped by at 8:30 in the morning on Dia de Reyes :(I think it was because they had a lot of roscas on all the selves.

Not sure of the names of the baked goods we bought but they were delicious. My favorite was the white coconut roll with custard. They had ice cream, coffee and milk for sale. Big issue was that here were flies inside of the baked goods cases.

Salty and barely any cheese or jalapeños inside! Very disappointing for $ 2.50 each! The ones on the 2500 block of Imperial Ave are stuffed with cheese, jalapeños and ham for $ 2.00!!!

I like a good Mexican American bakery and this one came through for me with flying colors. I came in and picked up a couple of my favorite Mexican sweet breads, the Cuerno or Mexican croissant and a elotito or little corn( ). Each cost .70. Both sweet breads were great, but I most enjoyed the cuerno. It had a nice soft golden brown exterior with a very slight crust( ). The inside was not like a traditional flaky french croissant, but more dense and very moist, which great mild buttery flavor I may add( ). The elotito was good too. It tasted good, but they are not intended to be as moist as of the cuerno. It crust was sugary and crusty, and although the inside tasted good, it was a little dry, but perfect for dunking in either mild or coffee( ). By the way, I did not get one, but they make these bolillo rolls baked and stuffed with Mexican Oaxaca cheese and jalapenos, and I heard from the employees and a customer that they are fantastic( ). A must on my next visit. Great Mexican bakery…

I love this place. Right down the street from Las Cuatro Milpas. Great coconut macaroons, pina or custard tunovers(empanadas), and bolillo rolls. Fyi, if you’re not used to self-serve bakeries, grab a platter and a pair of tongs and choose what you want with those. Replace the tongs and bring the platter of goodies to the cashier so they can bag them up. Cash only.

Very affordable and I always pair up my pan with a large brewed coffee, simply meant to be! So if you are nearby & want to satisfy your sweet tooth. grab some pan & a cup of joe to go of course(no tables or sittting area) :) they open early and close late… nom nom

Somehow when you’re down, an apple empanada makes you feel better. It just does. Carbohydrates united with fruit united with fruit glaze… inside the pastry you’ll find yummy apple chunks in a light glaze. Not too sweet and it was so filling! Only 85 cents… I tried to tip 15 cents but she said«Sorry, I can’t». They don’t accept tips here. Great variety of desserts! Cookies, donuts, empanadas, cakes, and other Mexican baked goods. The lady working here was very kind. When you’re in the mood for desserts, come here to get the most sweet goodness for your money! So wonderfully inexpensive! Many items I saw were under $ 1 and a few of the fancier looking pastries were still under $ 3-$ 4. — Had the marble cake on visit number 2. Must say I am pleased. The actual cake part strikes the perfect balance by not being too sweet, because the chocolate on top of the cake provides the real jackpot of sweetness. Best part? This creation cost me only 90 cents! Even the bolillo, the simple bread roll, is good! Only 35 cents or 3 for $ 1. Had it all by itself and it was satisfying. The lady working here was kind and pleasant, as always.

Stressed spelled backwards is desserts. Coincidence? I think not! Panchitas is sooo good! I have this inside joke for people who can’t pronounce spanish words(Pan-cheetahs) Lmao! It sounds awful anyhow, after a long day rippin & runnin around, sho’ nuff you can put all yo faith in this place. I am a sucka for desserts! Not just ANY dessert but my guiltiest pleasure that I over indulge in is Pan Dulce! Inexpensive and delicious! Can’t go wrong at all! This place is better than any donut shop you know. Home made freshness sippin thru the door. You have to try Panchitas! It’s right across the street from the entrance of the Coronado Bridge! So hey, you can’t miss it!

I love mexican bakeries. Pan dulce? A thousand times yes plz. The best thing about the pan dulce at Panchitas? It’s not nearly as dry as typical mexican bakeries. Even their plain bread rolls(sandwich/torta style) were delicious(and warm out of the oven in the middle of the afternoon!). Prices are dirt cheap and the staff is friendly. Yes, it’s a little rough around the edges, but who cares when you’re stuffing your mouth full of sugary carbohydrates?

Always fun to try a new Hispanic breads. We arrived near closing, trying for a neighboring restaurant so nothing we purchased was freshly placed, but great low prices and super friendly service. I think it’s a family run cash only establishment.

Their pumpkin empanada is delicious. It is essentially a hand held portable pumpkin pie that is not too sweet so that the flavors of the pumpkin are obvious and awesome. I’ve tried other pastries from here also, and they were all satisfying. Really cheap, with lots of options. Always happy to go here!

It’s okay. It’s the best mexican food I found in San Diego… so I think I went to all the wrong places. :-( The bread I got was a bit dry… as if I had purchased the 2nd or 3rd day items. Pricing is fair enough. The employees were really nice, and we showed up at closing time so they were good enough to help us anyway.

Yea, I only happened upon this location because I went to lunch at Las Cuatros Milpas. But, I’m so glad that I did. I was so full from lunch, but I decided to try their rice pudding. It was delicious! I ended up finishing the whole frickin’ thing even though my stomach was nearing maximum capacity. The rice in the pudding was moist and succulent… one of the best I’ve ever tried.

Panchita’s is where I wander when I am down and need some serious comfort carbs. I get a large hot mexican chocolate made from Chocolate Ibarra. Then depending on how bad I am I will get either a gingerbread piggie, a corn meal sweet muffin, pumpkin or sweet potato empanada, pineapple pastry or a slice of day old wedding or birthday cake made from real buttercream frosting from the carousel fridge. Not a place to hang out, just a place to run in with your biggest and darkest sunglasses and run out.

Damn its hot inside there! The second you walk in you want to walk right back out but if you stay long enough to buy a carton of milk and some sweet bread you won’t regret it. As for the staff, there’s nothing friendly about this place.
