Ordered a green chile chicken burrito. Got a green chile and bean burrito instead. When did Mexican food consist of cheddar cheese? Guacamole and beans tasted like they came out of a can.

Tried the California burrito, was not a pleasant experience. Everything from the tortilla to the meat didn’t really have a good flavor and the entire thing didn’t go well. There are better options around this area, especially for Mexican food.

This is my local taco shop. I don’t come here often but it does the job when I need a quick fix. They’ve upgraded their shop recently so business must be doing good! Service seems a lot better too since my last visit. I wanted to get a quesadilla plate but didn’t see it on the menu. The cashier said making a plate was no problem and I just needed to pick 2 sides.(beans, rice, corn, etc.) She also suggested that I get my quesadilla with the chipotle chicken and spanish rice in my quesadilla. I went with it! It was really good, but just a lot of food and super greasy of course!(thanks to the cheese) I was able to split it into 2 meals which is a money saver :) I’ve had their bean and cheese burrito and breakfast burrito which were ok. Now that they’ve upgraded their menu and shop, I’ll have to try them out more often.

Most decent Mexican food I have yet to find in San Diego. Waiting times are long usually so be prepared to wait or order in advance.

Today is my last visit here, unless they improve quality and taste… quality is so important and I trust the owners can change that when they’re ready. The fish was way overcooked and beans a little… of Tasting… just not good. So disappointed.

Avoid the chains, this is hands-down the best Mexican food in UTC area. Authentic, fresh, generous portion size. Really nice salsa bar with pico de gallo, roasted peppers, pickled carrots/peppers and homemade hot sauce. I went for breakfast, had a carnitas taco and fried eggs. The taco was huge, tons of meat, guacamole and cilantro, yum. Music is and ambiance is Mariachi lively. Very clean also.

Indifferent service and a carne asada burrito that was mostly salsa and barely any meat. 3 people in the back saw me come in but ignored me and made me stand at the counter for at least 5 minutes. RUDE.

this«hole in the wall» is definitely my go-to restaurant(if you can call it that.) of choice when i have a late night craving for Mexican food! my personal favorite on the menu is the monster angus steak nachos($ 9.50). these bad boys are loaded with steak, guacamole, sour cream, and cheese. what i really like about the nachos here compared to other Mexican eateries are that they aren’t as heavy or oily, but still taste damn good. while i haven’t tried the tacos here, i can definitely vouch for the burritos — especially the Cali and the Surf&Turf burritos! these burritos are massive and fill you up faster than you think. the location is mostly empty with a few customers here and there from time to time so the wait is never more than 10 minutes, but it can get pretty packed at times, especially around 10PM! all in all, I love this place but am only giving the place a 4 out of 5 because the quality of food is not 5 stars — but hey, you get what you pay for!

This place is very average but not in a bad or good way. The food and price is decent but it’s definitely not the best Mercian food around, but it’s definitely worth a try. It’s ask open late so it’s perfect for those late night munchies. My favorite is the California breakfast burrito.

It’s not good, honestly. They have students there every night and those obviously do not appreciate the nice Mexican SoCal food. I go there because I live next door and get lazy to drive somewhere else, and I have myself everytime. Had a chile verde burrito the other night that just fell apart, it became a chile verde soup on tortilla. Sad =\

Mediocre Mexican food but what was I expecting for paying six dollars for a burrito bigger than my arm(it was the monster special)??? Shout outs to the free chips and salsa that you can get at the counter though, that’s always good. It’s a perk they’re open kinda late so perf for those late night munchies! But if you’re looking for great taste… Meh.

My site orders lunch from here every Friday. I was asked if I wanted to anything from here, I passed this Friday since I brought my lunch, but I was curious since they have monster burritos. Those sounded so delicious, and huge. They have a variety of these monster burritos(see pic). My stomach was liking the description of half these burritos, but I needed to try something of a smaller scale before trying a monster burrito the size of my arm. I had to stop by my site on Saturday morning and thought I would give this place a try. I was getting hungry and in the mood for tacos! I saw on the menu mini tacos and Adobada, sold! It was right before noon, and there was already plenty of people eating and still ordering, a good sign. I ordered(4) mini tacos with Adobada and Carne asada with guacamole only, no onions or cilantro. I hate cilantro and I’m not really a fan of raw onions either. I just wanted the pure simplistic taste of well cooked meat! I am such the carnivore! I was excited as I always am about yummy street tacos, these were a disappointment. I have gotten used to adobado off a spit, it’s just not the same prepared any other way. These were just ok. The carne asada tacos were not good at all. The meat was try and bland. Overall, these street tacos sucked! The monster menu is enticing, but I think I’ll pass.

Giving it three because I used to give it five. I don’t know if there was an ownership change, but about a year ago the quality of the food went down drastically. I had a fish burrito once that I couldn’t even eat. The service used to be great; now it’s like no one ever knows what the heck I’m talking about. My order has been wrong multiple times. It’s so close to my house I just keep trying, hoping it was all a fluke. But since Jerry, the manager, left a few months back, the staff are barely friendly and rarely helpful. The kids and I will find a new place. :(

Honestly not that great. I tried going a few times but the portions are either too small for the price or the quality is just not that impressive comparing it to like Vallartas, Lolitas, or cotixan.

The food isn’t that great and it is relatively expensive for what you get. The staff is not that great, the cashiers are not friendly or smiley and it takes a while to get your food. My orders usually come out wrong, like I’ll ask for something without lettuce and it comes with it piled on, they aren’t happy to correct the mistake either. I also order plain cheese enchiladas and get charged for chicken(I also got chicken which was really mushy and gross). Also my food was never hot enough, it was always kind of cold which grossed me out, cold bean and cheese burritos are not good. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this place. I came here all the time since it was close to me but I’m going to drive a little further to get better food, service and prices!

Monster Breakfast Burrito — A huge pile of food stuffed in a football sized tortilla. Of course that sounds great when you’re famished, but the consequences of eating over 2 pounds of beans, cheese, eggs, and meat will be felt for days. I wanted a breakfast burrito for lunch, and chose the Machaca style(Shredded Beef). At under six bucks I received a huge monster burrito that was twice the size as some breakfast burritos I’ve had lately. It wasn’t practical to use my hand with this beast so I grabbed a knife and fork I began to perform a food autopsy. It was decently balanced with all their stated food components, perhaps a bit heavy handed with the potatoes(real potato pieces, not fries). One thing that was peculiar were the refried beans inside. Not sure that goes with breakfast food. Like I said, way too much food. I felt bad wasting so much of it. — Three TVs on three different channels(ESPN, Mexican Soccer, and Lucha Libre).

The food here is ok. It’s not as good as some of the other taco places and the price seems to be a bit more here– probably due to location. Los Primos is in the same plaza as Vons, Core Power, and few other stores. Parking is never a problem as th ed lot is pretty big. Inside the store there are a few tvs to watch, a salsa bar, and a good amount of seating. Came here for a breakfast burrito. It typically comes with ham, bacon, egg, potatoe, and cheese– but I got mine without ham. The burrito had quite a bit of potatoes, and not too much eggs and bacon. The salsa bar has a few options for salsa. This isn’t my first choice of places to go, but the food is sufficient to satisfy a craving.

From 2008 to 2010, this was my go-to place for off campus Mexican food when I didn’t have a car as it was accessible by the Arriba shuttle. Five years later, and I’m glad to see that the quality of food has pretty much stayed the same. As what to expect from a college fast food Mexican spot, the food is greasy and filling with the portion sizes being pretty generous for almost every menu item. Since my college days, I’ve noticed they’ve added huge LCD tv’s to add to their one tv opposite the cashier(who usually aren’t too distracted by it unless the world cup is going on). They’ve also added a few beers on tap, but I honestly haven’t seen anybody taken advantages of this the 2 times I’ve been here this year. Besides, this type of food goes better with a cheap bottled Corona or Dos Equis, both of which they have in an ice chest in front of the cash register. I am a bit bummed that they got rid of the arcade game on the side. Kind of gave the place a nostalgic 90’s feel, although freshmen these days may not feel the same way and I’m just aging myself already. Also, they do have a bathroom for customers to use, but remembered what I said about the generous portion sizes? Yeah. Honestly there aren’t too many clean bathrooms in this shopping center unless you have an optometrist appointment next door or live in the houses nearby.

If you’re looking for Burritos, Tacos or pretty much any Mexican food in the La Jolla area this is the spot. If you don’t have time to venture out to Miramar Road or further, this is really the only place that comes to mind. Doesn’t hurt that their food is pretty good too! My favorite is the rolled tacos, love rolled tacos that aren’t all tortilla! Clean and decent service too! Great lunch spot!
