La Casitas, as of the end of the spring 2014 semester, is closed. :( Mariana said that they were unable to renew their lease but will be popping up in the SDSU Farmer’s Market after a hiatus.

$ 15 for 15 roll tacos, 4 bean and rice burritos and 3 drinks, that is a deal I can’t complain about. I have had better roll tacos but for the price you pay for, not much is expected. The drinks were small but you it 1 free refill which is a good perk. And the burritos were good. I love the green sauce there which is made by them and it is their own recipe. The service was great. The front counter people were helpful. Inside the place was what you expected for college students. With that said I was freaking out when I noticed I left my wallet there for 30 Mona. I called and they helped me out. They found my wallet and returned it without anything missing. Overall you I couldn’t complain too much about the place. I got one hell of a deal and the food was good.

The only way to actually enjoy this place is if you’re drunk as from what my friends tell me honestly I’ve only eaten a full plate here once and got sick. I’m Mexican … Mexican food shouldn’t be getting me sick! Everything is so cheap because it’s either fake or not the best quality.

This establishment is the following: extremely customer-service oriented, delicious, creative, convenient, extremely affordable. I got 6 burritos the other day for coworkers, with a few special instructions. Not only were they delicious and exactly as ordered, but the guy working threw in a horchata and some chips. Plus we got a few containers of their very tasty salsas. This is my favorite mexican place, period. The burritos are great and I love the different creations by campus orgs that you can order. Will always go here when I need mexican and am near campus.

***The best service Ive ever had at a taco shop, hands down. I felt like they actually wanted me to enjoy my food and come back. They really treat you like a friend when you come in. *** The menu is creative and has a lot of offerings. They have a lot of stuff that isn’t found at your average mexican food place. They have a lot of creative burrito options and really cater to the SDSU culture here. Its pretty great to be able to walk to a burrito oasis from school. I love their complimentary chips and salsa, Get the green sauce! anything with their carnitas is great, their breakfast burritos are awesome, bean and cheese burrito… so much more!!! They have a great selection of drinks and make some in-house that are tasty and healthier than your average soda. They also have great beer at greater prices. They have a great patio to sit on while you drink said beer. When I heard techno playing on the patio I knew I would fall in love. And then they got me with that green sauce. That pretty much explains our whole relationship. They get 5 stars for the great service and selection.

La Casita’s is my go-to place for a bean and cheese burrito. Tasty refried beans, soft flour tortilla, good size, and a great price. If you dine in, they have all you can eat chips and salsa. Their horchata is homemade(which is rare unless you’re at an authentic Mexican restaurant)! And what always stands out to me is the service– even when they’re busy, the husband and wife team make sure you have everything you need. We usually call in our burritos ahead of time which helps with the wait. Great place to eat if you want a quick meal in the College Area!

I LOVETHISPLACE! I LOVETHEGREENGUACSAUCE! This place is amazing. Cheap and good food! If you’re up for some cheap mexican food this is the place to go! If you wanna try their burritos, get the blackbook burrito! It’s a cali burrito wrapped in a quesedilla. Also, their street tacos are the best! HANDSDOWN best mexican food around state!

The absolute nicest owner I could imagine. Amazingly creative and delicious burritos. If you like spice, you most definitely have to try the Heaven N Hell and the Koalafornian with seeds. Changed my life. Good beers on tap. Music on the patio. Cool college vibe. Easy parking. I’m seriously crushing on this place right now. Las Casitas is THE taco shop at SDSU.

Cheap food, decent taste, just the average mediocre pre-cooked Mexican america food. Their green sauce is pretty good tho. I liked their carnitas but their pollo asado was dry and unappealing.

This place is right off campus, right next to my favorite thai spot, and it has a lot of great reviews?! Why haven’t I been here yet?! So I grabbed my friend and told him we were testin’ out a new spot today. I was so grateful to walk into a cooler shack, and temporarily escape the heat. But right off the bat — the menu is truly impossible to read. It seems like there are two versions going on. Their basic menu, then a shit-ton of fliers just sorta posted all over the walls of other burritos, other options with vague descriptions… so i didn’t really know where to start to look. So my friend and I let the couple in front of us, that seemed to know what was going on, step in front of us so we could see how it was done. Mistake. Apparently, this guy and the cashier were like, best buds?! We started out as being the only 4 people in the restaurant, to a HUGE line backing up behind us, while the two just bullshitted with each other, and tried samples of different drinks? and who knows what else? What on earth??? I mean, I understand being friendly, and customer service, and maybe catching up with a buddy, but come on! there’s definitely a fine line. By the time it came up for us to order, I felt guilty asking questions about anything on the menu, because the rest of the line was as exasperated as I was. But from the little bit of transacting I had with the man behind the register, he was incredibly friendly. He made sure to hook us up with different type of salsas, and sub’d beans for my guacamole. I had 3 pollo street tacos. You can’t mix them up… it’s three of carne, pollo, or carnitas — with a bottle of water, and all the chips you can eat — $ 5. Pretty good price. My tacos were alright tho. My friends tacos(tortillas) were doubled up. Mine weren’t. So mine were falling apart all over the place, and hard to eat. The chicken was a little tough :/and the flavor was just ok. But the salsa’s were definitely bomb. I’d probably come back, just to test out some of the burritos… they sure do have a lot of options here. But as of now, I wasn’t overly impressed, it was just ok.

Complimentary chips, close distance to state, unique interiors, and an unbeatable price? What’s not to like? La Casitas may not be the best Mexican food in town but I sure am a fan. Staff is friendly and fun. Plus, they have an outdoor patio with very upbeat music. I usually get the carnitas street tacos with horchata. But from time to time, I’ll also get a cali burrito. Oh and you have got to try their green sauce! Its their specialty and very delicious. I can’t find it anywhere else but here.

The food here is cheap, but it’s not the best Mexican food I’ve ever tasted. Thankfully it doesn’t taste completely Americanized. It’s mostly a college joint. Space is somewhat clean for the most part. Sometimes the tables are dirty when I go here for lunch, but eh, I guess my expectations aren’t high when I’m dining across SDSU. My favorite is their breakfast burrito… less than $ 5(even if you do have to pay their .45 credit card charge)! And you also get complimentary chips! This is a place I would’ve hung out in when I was 20−22…but at 28, no thank you. I’ll take my lunch to go. :)

Yeah. The guy behind the counter is always awesome, friendly, and helpful. The massive menu does not lend itself to a test addled mind. However just find one of the specials that fits your needs closest, remembering to use some of their green sauce from the cold case, and you should be pretty happy. OH! OH! OH! If you don’t try a cup of the«Special» juice a future version of yourself will suddenly appear, having bent time and space, and punch you right in the face. You have been warned.

La Casitas has some of the best customer service ever. The cashier, Junior I believe his name is, is always on top of orders and talks to everyone that comes in. Not your typical small talk that seems programmed into your usual employee such as «Hi, what would you like? It’ll be $ 10. Here’s your change.» I mean he actually asks how your day is going, if you’ve got class, how things are, etc.” and actually cares what you have to say. I’ve only had their carne asada fries but it seems like there is a lot of variety with most of the products named after a college atmosphere. As a SDSU student, the location is convenient when between classes and it’s a lot nicer on your wallet because the prices for food at school are just straight up ridiculous!

Pros: Amazing fish tacos! Great service during the two times that I have dined here. Beer is served! The prices are very fair. Cons: The bathroom is about 25 yards out of the restaurant. They charge a fee for using debit/credit. If you are in the College Area/near SDSU and are hungry swing by La Casitas.

I don’t know what it is about La Casita’s that feels… more classy(?) than the other taco shops around SDSU, but I do feel more mature eating here than say, Trujillo’s or Santana. Even though both those places are bomb. Maybe it’s because La Casita’s closes a lot earlier in the evening, maybe because they give you complimentary chips, or maybe it’s just an arbitrary decision my brain made. Anyway, La Casita’s is like the other SDSU taco shops in that it has a plethora of menu items named after Greeks and other organizations(and even people, like the Groveman burrito). The boyfriend and I have been nomming here pretty frequently as of late, since a few weeks back, we were heading to the taco shops, unsure of which one to partake in, and decided upon La Casita’s. Boyfriend was craving a bean & cheese burrito and rolled tacos; lo and behold! The Sammy Loco special is a bean & cheese burrito and 3 rolled tacos! His new favorite meal is that(but with carne asada inside the burrito), which comes with a drink for only $ 6 – 7. I, as is stated on my Unilocal profile, am a sucker for carne asada fries, but at La Casita’s, I have found my food soulmate in the Beta Omega Phries, a dish of fries covered in guac, sour cream, cheese, carne asada, AND pollo asada; the 2 meats just gives the meal that something special, the je né sais quoi, that hooks me. The salsa they offer with the free chips is a nice, mild level of spicy. The only thing I dislike about it is that it’s really liquidy, only a few little pieces of onion and cilantro, no tomatoes. The red sauce here is perfect for me, not as hot as the other taco shops’ red sauce, so I don’t look like such a wuss. There was a new green salsa they gave me as well, that was really fruity in taste and I didn’t really like at all. Oh, I also ordered a plain cheese quesadilla. It was tasty and very cheesy in the middle, but about 1.5−2 inches in all the way around the outside of the tortilla, no cheese! And I’m not gonna just eat dried flour tortilla. La Casita’s isn’t the fastest Mexican around, but it’s not slow. The giant menu on the wall is a little confusing, but they recently made a big poster of all the Greek– and organization-named specials and what they have, which is awesome. The employees are kind and bring your food out to you while you eat the complimentary chips and salsa. They don’t give out water cups, but they have a water fountain that’s perfectly drinkable.

Super delicious burritos and by far the best near SDSU. The staff/owner is super friendly and always willing to accommodate specific orders. If you eat there the main guy is always trying to bring you more chips, or refill your drinks. Lots of options for vegetarians, including the Veggie Crunch Burrito which comes with a potato rolled taco inside your burrito. I like the creativity. Oh, and its cheap too.
