Unprofessional. Demeaning. Undermining. Cancelled on me very rudely. I scheduled my massage 2 weeks in advance because she was unable to make it beforehand which is understandable. I clearly texted my condition and reasoning for wanting lymphatic massage 2 weeks ago (she only texted me NEVER CALLED OR ANSWERED MY CALLS).
The day before my massage she canceled via text saying that I «didn’t need lymphatic massage…» ok I am not a masseuse but I have a strong medical background and am currently working on doctorate. I don’t know how she arrived at this conclusion without asking in depth the reason I wanted (or the reason my physician suggested) lymphatic massage (circulation. .post surgical issues. lupus… long list
.). After I told her it was unprofessional and I do need it. (i wanted to give her the option of reconsidering her execution of the situation) she continued to state that oh well «Luckily you don’t need massage. Good thing it worked out» ???
I’d rather she just out right cancel without undermining and demeaning clients. rude, trite, inconsiderate, apathetic, inconsiderate of my time.

AMAZING! I am so happy with my decision to go see Gwen! I emailed her asking a question and she responded quickly which I thought was great! Scheduling was easy. Once I was there, she explained everything in depth to me. I went in for a Lymphatic Drainage Massage, and it was my first time so I didn’t know what to expect. She made me feel very comfortable and didn’t try to «upsell» me like I’m used to. It was great to find someone so honest and caring! I should mention the massage did wonders! I’ll be back!

I am so Happy Gwen McGuire is back in San Diego. As soon as I heard she was back I had to book an appointment right away. I don’t trust my skincare needs to anyone any more after I have received excellent service and results from Gwen. My recent visit was for a Lymphatic Drainage Massage and Pumpkin Peel. Wow! Never would I have thought I would see results so quickly. I suffer from Adult Acne and I have dark acne scars and sun damage on my face. The day after my Pumpkin Peel I noticed a few of my dark spots were lighter. I got so excited a called my kids over to show them my face. They were impressed. If the Pumpkin Peel can show differences in just one day I definitely need to keep this on it is much more cost effective than buying prescription or over the counter skincare meds that don’t make much of a difference in such a short time. Now in regards to the Lymphatic Drainage Massage I received, I wasn’t sure it would help me physically but I was willing to give it a try. I suffer from Tendonitis, Fibromyalgia and Arthritis and I’m in constant pain here and there throughout my body. I constantly suffer with my left shoulder and shoulder blade hurting daily. While I was receiving the Lymphatic Drainage Massage I was noticing some changes but thinking it was all in my head I said nothing. That day after the Lymphatic Drainage Massage I went home and took a nap. I got scared because I thought I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night but to my amazement I went to bed at 9pm tired and fell into a deep sleep for the first time in years. The next morning I went about my day then noticed that my left shoulder and shoulder blade was not bothering me. Could it be true I finally found something to help me? I guess so. I highly recommend seeing Ms. Gwen McGuire. Feel free to Consult with her first if you are wary about what services are right for you. Gwen did my laser tattoo removal and she was always so nice and welcoming every time I came in. This is the first time I’ve ever gotten laser tattoo removal and I was scared that I was going to someone who wouldn’t be experience with it and know what they were doing. Gwen definitely knows what she’s doing and is very experienced with her work!

Gwen did a lymphatic drainage massage for me after a procedure. She is super nice, gentle, understanding and deeply caring about her customers. I highly recommend her, you wouldn’t be disappointed!

I was feeling frustrated with my skin and my skin care routine before I met Gwen. I initially saw her for a skin consultation and a facial, which was structured to my combination, acne-​prone skin. A few weeks later, I followed up with a chemical peel. Gwen thoroughly explained each step of the facial and the peel — what product she was using and why — and constantly checked to make sure that I was comfortable. Especially with the peel, she monitored my skin and asked if I felt any discomfort.
After the initial facial, Gwen patiently answered all of my questions about skin care and gave recommendations on products and how to use them. I have since been following her recommendations and I am extremely happy with how healthy my skin looks — I’ve even received compliments! Because of Gwen, I now know that I am properly treating my skin type. I am looking forward to continued treatments with Gwen in the future.
Bottom line: Gwen is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about what she does. All three of those qualities are a must if you want someone treating your skin. You will leave looking and feeling great, and armed with the knowledge on how to take care of your skin.

I went to Gwen for a series of lymphatic drainage massages after a surgery and she was fabulous! She is such a sweet, kind women and you can tell she is passionate about helping people. The lymphatic massages are very different than a traditional massage but very relaxing and enjoyable as well as helpful. with my healing I would highly recommend her!

They say all good things must come to an end. And so it has happened with Gwen leaving sunny Southern Cal– to head home to Chicago. She will be greatly missed.
I had the pleasure of experiencing Gwen’s facials and Microdermabrasion over the last 6 weeks. I can tell you that I wish I had found her much sooner. She is caring, compassionate and truly enjoys her work. I have to hand it to her, blackheads, acne, and all of the other stuff that comes along with being an esthitician– no thanks. But thank goodness she enjoys it.

Gwen is amazing! Not only is she an excellent spa therapist providing quality facials, she’s also an amazing massage therapist. I’m definitely a convert :)

Last time I got a massage from Gwen, I learned that she also does skincare treatments. Lucky for me because I’m getting married soon and have this ugly sun spot below my right eye that needs to disappear! I showed it to Gwen, who told me I could get rid of it with a series of chemical peels.
Gwen customized a program which would get rid of my sunspot and even out my complexion overall. The first step was to lighten my skin for three weeks using Obagi Skin Lightener Creams. Gwen explained this would protect against scarring from the peel — apparently not prepping your skin before a chemical peel can actually worsen the problem or create problems you didn’t have before. The products smelled a little funny, but three weeks later my spot was insanely lighter. So much so that I no longer needed a deep invasive peel, but rather just a light one. She started with a facial to cleanse my skin and open my pores — the relaxing music and steam machine sent me into pure nirvana. Next, she applied a pumpkin peel to loosen the dead skin cells (no, you cannot eat it but you’ll want to). Gwen explained that eliminating dead skin stimulates new skin cell development in your skin’s basal layer, which would fade away my sunspot. Gwen told me that as you age, the frequency of new skin development grows longer and longer apart. Peels help to cheat Mother Nature by prompting the basal layer to create fresh, new skin. After the pumpkin peel, Gwen performed microdermabrasion to get rid of any additional dead skin. Microscopic crystals gently blasted my skin while simultaneously were vacuumed up with the dead skin cells. It felt a little strange, but WOW was my face ever soft afterwards. Maybe smoother than a baby’s bottom. :)
Lastly, Gwen applied a Retinol ¹⁰⁄₁₀ peel to induce the peeling process. It smelled like oranges and made my face tight. I left it on for 4 hours, then washed it off later that evening. My skin was smooth and a little red, which was all normal according to Gwen. Over the next few days my skin peeled as though I had gotten a bad sunburn (so I’d recommend doing this late in the week so you have the weekend to peel), but after about a week the results were AMAZING. My sunspot was gone!!! I couldn’t believe it. Not only that, but my entire face was bright and clear. This coming from someone who’s had acne her entire life and all the dermatologist medications you can think of to get rid of it. I’m definitely going back next month to keep my skin looking so great! Gwen is fantastic — 120% recommend getting a peel from her.

I have never had a facial before because I do not do things for myself… Until I met Gwen. Not only does she know what she’s doing (lots of people don’t these days), but she is personable too (she has awesome ideas and stories).
Gwen looked at my skin and could tell exactly what was going on: dehydrated, too much sun etc. Her expertise helped with the sun spots and she even gave me great recommendations of what I can do at home.
In short, Gwen is your girl if you are looking to get away from the world.

It had been a few months since my last massage so I was over due! Just like Danielle W. said… Gwen IS a miracle worker! As she was massaging me I felt my stress just fade away. I had a medium-​deep pressure and I was expecting to feel a little sore the next day or two but no soreness!
Gwen even called me a couple days after my massage to check in with me. I will DEFINITELY visit her again soon!
