It’s a park, people. Deep fryers and freezers. This place had a mix of Mexican and ballpark food. It was mediocre. But believe me you I have had worse in my travels and at parks. We wee hungry, this solved the problem We went out later to Cucina Urbana for real food, because that’s what smart people do. I went to the ZOO for the ANIMALS. They were cool, BTW. Fill the void, reduce the stomach growls, and go out later for food.

I realize theme park food isn’t known for being particularly delicious, but this place is exceptionally bad for the price point. Meals start around $ 8.99 and go up from there. What you’ll get is recently frozen, depressingly bland, lifeless food(?). I took the advice of my fellow Unilocalers and avoided the Mexican food. I would have avoided eating here altogether but my family was hungry and all the restaurants seem to sell similar looking food. I got the chicken tenders basket, thinking if there’s one thing a glorified concession stand can pull off, it’s chicken and fries. I was wrong. The tenders were of the same quality and consistency of those frozen dinosaur shaped chicken tidbits for kids: stale cardboard. The fries reminded me of styrofoam so it took a bunch of ketchup to get through a few of them. My wife’s burger was big, but the patty was dry and gray(I don’t think that’s a good thing). There could be better food at the zoo, I’m not sure, but I can’t recommend this place at all.

Seriously I don’t get all the bad reviews. 99% of all theme park food is mediocre at best. I’m basing my review on this premise. I had the fish tacos which were ok. They gave a sliver of lime per taco which amounted to 3 drops of juice. The beans were better and had some flavor. The rice was rather bland. My husband got the nachos wurh salsa and guacamole. They both had a kick of garlic that sunk in after a second. For dessert, my husband got bunuelo.(My keyboard doesn’t have tilde for the n). Anyways, that was the best part. For those who have never had it, bunuelo is a crispy tortilla covered in sugar and cinnamon –similar to a churro. Here, they put vanilla ice cream on top which I found weird but after tasting it. It was yummy! Not enough to justify 4 stars overall but I would give the dessert 5 stars.

We looked at the zoo map and saw there was a restaurant that sold Mexican food, so we took the lift all the way to the other side of the park JUST so we could have Mexican food here. Overpriced. Cafeteria food quality. Not many options. And the burritos only had two ingredients. A tortilla with just meat and beans? No thanks. So I got the chicken sandwich which was also overpriced. Not good, unfresh. Lettuce was probably old. Ugh, mistake. A lot of the other food places smelled so good too. :(do yourself a favor and don’t make this mistake!!!
