Wow! These Fish and Chips were as good or better than I have ever had. We also had the Shrimp which were moist and flavorful with just the right amount of breading. I will start becoming a regular.

So glad to have found this place. We ordered the fish & chips and the fish & shrimp. The fish and shrimp were freshly battered after our order was taken. Everything was fried to perfection! Such a good find.

When you think of IB, you don’t necessarily think of fish and chips. Since this place opened, now you do! This is a no frills, small mom and pop shop that serves fresh fried fish and chips. The tartar sauce is homemade. My favorite is the chicken tenders. I worked at KFC a hundred years ago and can say it beats the secret recipe!

The place a a small mom and pop shop but the food pretty good. The service is out standing and the the portion of food that you get is well worth the price. The fish is big and the side of fries that comes with it is big too. I personally liked the jumbo shrimp. Well worth a trying.

Yes. Score!!! My cousin, who lives in another city, recommended Crisp Fish & Chips, which is right near my hood! How did I not know about this place? I guess it’s because no one would expect a Fish & Chips joint in an area over saturated by mostly Mexican restaurants and food trucks. Not saying that our Mexican food establishments aren’t great in their own right, but having one Fish & Chips joint in the area certainly stands out. It’s located at the end of a sometimes dimly lit strip mall. Friendly service. I ordered the #1 Classic Fish an’ Chips, which comes with 2 Fish Fillets, Chips, which can be substituted with one of the Veggies, and a drink for $ 9.99. I substituted the Chips with Fried Zucchini and also ordered Clam Chowder for $ 3.00 to warm me up. The Clam Chowder was mediocre, with not much clam meat, but the Combo and Fried Zucchini were excellent! The fish and zucchini arrived straight from the fryer, crispy and golden. The fish was lightly battered and flaky in the inside, as it should be. The plate was brought to my table with full containers of Malt Vinegar, Tartar sauce, and Ranch. Now, I just have to remember this place exists, so I can come again. Thanks for the tip, Cousin(Shout out to Monette D., a great relative that knows how to eat like the best of us.)!

Very disappointed. Got fish and chips and a side of fried zucchini. First piece of fish was great. Crisp outside moist inside. Second piece… Eh. Was BARELY any fish inside of the thick batter. The small amount of fish that there was, was VERY dry and had the fish’s scales on it. The fries were flavorless. The fried zucchini was over cooked, and the batter was VERY sweet. Is it only me that doesn’t sugary fried zucchini? I threw more than half the food in the trash. $ 15 for this is sad… Have yet to find a place that compare to South Africa’s fish and chips. This place is just a reminder why I stopped searching for a good fish and chips spot in socal.

Well finally we get a delicious fish n chips place in the southbay. I went there yesterday and I ordered the fish and shrimp combo. It was delicious. I enjoyed the batter on both the fish and shrimp. The tartar sauce is good too. Place is located in the corner of the shopping center so parking wasn’t bad. Location was also clean. The owner was a young female and I must say she was very friendly. She went out of her way to come talk to my wife and I and just provided excellent customer service. Food was good, service was great, location is clean… I’ll be back soon! Thanks!

The first time i went here my family all ordered separate items. When i arrived to pickup my order they asked if it was for a family and recommended trying out the family specials next time to save some money! This place is absolutely great! Been here twice and the service is amazing and theyre very generous about giving different sauces.

Crispy Fish and Chips, that says it all. Yet another local Mom n Pop shop for me to patronize in Imperial Beach(San Diego? Whatevs). The place is clean, the staff is friendly and the food is superb. But I am a big whiner so I gave them four stars. Why would I do that? Fish and chips — The fish is fried to a golden perfection leaving a beautiful crispy crunch and revealing moist flaky fish beneath. The fries are good, previously frozen, but good. Fried shrimp(jumbo?) — The shrimp here is ridiculous. Gargantuan pieces of battered and golden fried deliciousness. I’m a big dude and these guys are as big as my hand! Blows Point Loma Seafood out of the water, no pun intended.(Sorry PLS! Step yo game up!!!) Fried zucchini — Monster planks of zucchini goodness coated in the same batter as everything else. Mega delicious and a huge portion. Onion rings — Same as the zucchini but with onions. Does it get any better than this? I hope not. Hush puppies — Fried balls of previously frozen bread. Not the biggest portion compared to the zucchini or rings. Kind of a rip in comparison.(Sorry star) I agree with the other reviewers, it wouldn’t take much more effort to google a recipe and tweak it enough to make it yours. These little balls of breadiness are extremely popular with the whole fish and chips culture(I care not for them, meh) so to take it to the next level, buy some corn meal and spices and have some fun experimenting with some recipes. Small things like that can really make or break a deal. I have yet to try the clams, oysters, scallops, calamari or mushrooms, but based on the previous reviews I would positively give them their day in court. Almost always a flawless execution in battering and frying seafood and veggies. Almost. Last time we went, the batter was like super extra crispy, almost painfully so. Some malt vinegar helped the fish. Some cocktail sauce softened the shrimp but the ranch just couldn’t combat that impenetrable armor of batter on the onion rings. Minor details in an otherwise flawless performance. South Bay residents take note, gems(pearls?!) like this don’t usually grace our day to day doldrums. Spend some loot and let’s keep this ship afloat(ugh, no more puns, I promise!). You will not be disappointed, I promise.

The Real Deal FOFO(Family-Owned Family-Operated) business and the customer service won them that perfect 5 star score. Fish is thinner than I would prefer it but the length and crisp is spot on good. Best fish N chips over any other place in the entire south bay SD. However, Chef John’s in Lemon Grove, CA holds its own out in the central and eastern parts of San Diego. The french fries are solid cuts of golden potato with no potato skin and might be cooked in separate oil than the fish(hopefully). What I love about their fries is that they serve them without a sprinkle of salt and you add your own. Thank you! Tried the coleslaw and it reminded of KFC coleslaw. Would like to see them make coleslaw as tasty as Phil’s BBQ does it or some version of their own. Their fish sandwich is one of my favorites since everything taste fresh from the hot fish strip to the sliced tomato to the crunch lettuce. I highly recommend this place if your near any of the border towns in the south or looking for a place to eat at in Imperial Beach.

If you want to have fried seafood better than any fast food chain out there, this is the place. Went with my mom and brother and ordered up a storm with fish, shrimp, clams, fries, and mushrooms. Everything was delicious, crispy, and satisfying. The menu had lots more options and the staff was ready to help with any and all questions that we had for any of the combos. We went in the middle of a heat wave so it was hard because they didn’t have a/c. Next time, the order was to go which usually isn’t as good when you get home, but it wasn’t. It still tasted as if you just ordered it so that makes it an even better spot. The portions are large so there will be leftovers, but it is all worth it. This is one of those places that you will miss if you blink, so keep your eyes open in that busy parking lot.

Fried crack at it’s finest. I’d say they’re a solid 4.5 stars. The seafood sampler is a must try. Shrimps were the best. Surprised to get such quality and size in shrimp here. Usually fried seafood places cut back a little. Scallops were good. Medium in size and fried perfectly. Clam strips are very good. The fried oysters were a little weird for me. I think I’m just not a fan of frying oysters and will stick to eating them raw or grilled. Fries were great. Cocktail sauce is very good with a hint of heat. Full array of popular hot sauces to choose from too. The only downside to my experience is that I didn’t get lemon. The staff is friendly and they fry each order fresh. If I get the seafood sampler again, I’ll just get it without the meal because there’s enough food without a giant basket of fries too. If you like fried seafood, this is a must try. Tip: They’re tough to find at first. Best to drive past the complex and take the street down the back and cut in.

This fish and chips place is straight up addictive. The fish is flaky and delicious. The batter is so good and gives a great crunch. The staff is super friendly and helpful. You can substitute fried veggies in place of the chips and those are fantastic too. The calamari is never overcooked or rubbery. There’s plenty of dipping sauce options. The place is very clean. I just wish I’d found this place sooner!

I came here during my one hour lunch. I decided to take my fish and chips to go. I walked in and was greeted by a nice gentleman. I order the fish and chips and a bottle of water. They take debit and credit cards but there was a surcharge of 50 cents to use it. Such a negative. I think all debit and credit card surcharges should be banned! While I waited for my fish and chips to be cooked, I sat down and watched the news on a flat screen hanging on the wall. It probably took a good 15 minutes because there were 4 guys waiting before me. After my fish and chips were cooked, the guy hands me my food in a plastic bag, and the bottle water, tartar sauce and ketchup was in a brown bag. I took it to my job and ate it. It was piping hot. The fish was crunchy and tender in the middle. It even tasted better with the tartar sauce. The fries were cooked to perfection. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. They gave me a good amount. The fish and chips were $ 9.99. So freaking worth it. Total came to $ 11.40 with my bottle water. If I ever crave fish and chips, I definitely will come back! The only other negative was there is no air conditioning. That’s a must for this humid and hot weather, so I had to dock a star for that. Other than that, fish and chips were good. This place is a must try if you love fish and chips!

Ate here for the first time today, and I’ll definitely be returning. I got the fish and chips, and an order of fried zucchini. Both the fish and zucchini were hot, fresh, and perfectly crispy, and after I added a drizzle of malt vinegar, it was perfect. definitely some of the best fried fish I’ve had. I tried a little of the tartar sauce as well, and thought it was decently tasty even if I still prefer to use vinegar when I eat fried fish. :) The only cons were the lackluster chips(which, like many other reviewers said, are just frozen fries without much flavor), and the cutlery; the provided plastic cutlery were a very flimsy fork and knife, which actually both melted in the process of cutting the hot fish, making it difficult to spear food with the fork. The next time I come here, I’ll be bringing a sturdier fork of my own, because the food was definitely worth coming back for.

So this is my first time coming to this place with high expectations based on other Unilocal reviews. I’ve got to say, I was definitely not disappointed. As soon as I walked in the young man behind the counter greeted me and asked me if It was my first time, I told him yes, and he explained the menu to me. I ordered Fish and Chips with onion rings. They were absolutely great. The fish was so so so fresh, the batter wasn’t too heavy, and unlike most places where you get more batter than fish, this place delivers. I was struggling to get through my second piece of fish. I ordered my food to-go and loved the way they packed my food. The larger tray with the fish and onion rings was on the bottom and on top of that in a little paper bag was my soda and all the sauces. This seemed incredibly convenient to me, because this way I wouldn’t have to worry about my soda moving around or my sauce’s lids coming of and making a giant mess. Over all, this is a great little place with amazing food. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is amazing. I’m definitely coming back.
