On the first day after arriving San Diego, I decided to take a lunch at Chipotle first. Located at University Avenue in the Hillcrest neighborhood, Chipotle brings the consumers to enjoyed eating«Build Your Own» burritos, bowls, tacos, salads, and kid’s meals in no time at all. The atmosphere and the concept remain the same as most Chipotle location has across the United States. The service is doing not bad as I entered there. No cons at all without any mishaps especially checking the cooked meats and messy toppings errors too before dining in. I usually ordered the burrito bowl by starting with brown rice, fajita veggies, black beans, half proteins(chicken & beef,) mid and medium salsas, guacamole, and fresh cut shredded lettuce. As I ate it, it tasted very good. It does have the flavors although some I saw while eating has some burnt marks on it which I wasn’t impressed the results. I wish the cookers need to be careful to cook these products well next time. Otherwise, a fine meal for me. Parking at this Chipotle can be challenging to park. You can park at the nearest surface street parking if it’s available. You can also ride a bike, walk, or use public transportation easier without the hassles. In the end, this Chipotle at University Avenue is a good national fast food restaurant that I can rely to eat their selections of BYO burritos or bowls. A well visit. My rating: 3 solid stars.

I don’t care what happened in the news, I’m still eating there. I’ve had food poisoning 2 times in 10 months living in SD and neither were from here. I should get stock because it feels like I eat here 2 – 3 times a week! The sofritas are truly the best! I’m not a vegetarian, but the flavor on those are amazing!

BEWAREOFPOSTMATESTHEFT! A Postmates driver delivering Chipotle from this location was seen stealing an Amazon package from a neighbor. Here is the Fox News report

I am completely impressed with the professionalism of this Chipotle location. They accidentally forgot to have my large order ready, but they made sure to get me out the door with all the correct burritos in a timely manner and made sure to take care of me. I’ll be sure to utilize their services again when I need another big lunch order or when I’m craving a tasty burrito. Keep up the great work. I’m not sure who the manager is, but to Chipotle corporate he is extremely professional with a calm demeanor!

My tummy hurts… I love chipotle and my usual location in national city presents fresh food on the line. BUT this specific chipotle didn’t have fresh food tonight when we walked in but we decided to eat anyway because we were all starving. Huge mistake. I’m pretty sure the sour cream was bad and now it’s messing around with my tummy. Their salad greens were browning too… Customer service sucked also, haha. If you want quality seek another chipotle.

I came in here this evening. Thursday, March 3rd at about 5:45p.m. As always, I come in often, have a great experience. I will never come in to this location again. This evening, the guy who rang me up(I wish I got his name), was so rude when I simply asked for a condiment. He reacted as if I asked for an organ or his wallet at gunpoint. He had the audacity to say«Next time tell me ahead of time» with a negative facial expression. Who says that? Really? I don’t get it. I was paying for it and I was polite. I know there are a lot of more stresses in the world. But, today, after a long day, I just wanted to enjoy dinner. I will continue to eat at Chipotle, but I will drive to another location.

I ordered a chicken salad with guac, black beans and pico and ended up with food poisoning 9 hours later. Don’t get chicken here! On the bright side, the girls that helped me were awesome and had great customer service. I will not be returning due to the bad press regarding Chipotle, sorry guys! I should have known; my mom told me so!

Food is OK at best but definitely can’t trust this establishment after the recent news. I get sick driving past it

You’d think they try a little harder after the ecoli scare. Horrible customer service tonight. Cold burrito, sassy attitudes from the«makers» and nothing to make the issue right. Guess it just is what it is. Stick to the real authentic taco shops if you want a good burrito!

This is one of the few«safe» places for me to eat as the customization allows me to avoid carbs. So on a lazy day I decided I’d let Chipotle do the cooking for me — and I got what I expected food wise. That being said, it was at this store that I encountered a very nice young man who worked here. He was such a great representative of this store that I wish I had gotten his name so he could have a shout out in this review, but alas, he’ll have to go nameless. It’s Chipotle, you know what you’re getting, and the guacamole costs extra.

Stopped in for dinner today and received pretty great service. All 3 employees we interacted with were friendly and quick. Everything tasted fantastic except for the chicken. Most bites were fatty and yucky. Had we not used a coupon, the meal wouldn’t have been worth the price. Parking in the lot in front of FedEx was easy.

I eat Chipotle pretty regularly and enjoy it, but this branch sucks! meat was dry, rice was not cooked right, the portion were way smaller than other place, when asked for a bit more, they reply that would cost extra. the steak was well done and over cooked… not returning to this branch

Lets start this with I love Chipotle. What is disappointing about this location is that they skimp on the portions. One of the reason I like Chipotle so much is the fact they have baby sized burritos full of awesome meats. Also I ordered half chicken and half steak and was charged full price for steak which I don’t see as fair. All in all I probably won’t be back to this location but will never give up Chipotle.

There is no place to park! I had to pay $ 1.25 on a meter to eat lunch here today :(Other than that it was a pleasant experience, friendly staff, good portion sizes, quick service, indoor and outdoor seating. My personal fav is the barbacoa bowl with guac! And I’m so happy everything in non-GMO now awesome!!! Also, margaritas are served at this location

There ingredients actually taste much better than the chipotle i typically go to. Chicken was amazing. So props to their cook. On the other hand. I eat at chipotle quite often. Especially being pregnant its been my constant crave. They could use some training on customer service. If i ask for a little extra chicken which i guess they typically don’t like i don’t nerd to hear your snark remarks nor rude attitude. I don’t want DOUBLEMEAT i want a little bit more maybe you know… If you served me the right portion at first instead of half a spoon i wouldn’t ask for more… Huh? Interesting right… Yeah. Not coming back to this one.

I’ll start out by saying that I have a huge thing for the mom-and-pop, hole in the wall Mexican food places dotted all around San Diego. It takes some trial and error to find out which place has the best carnitas, and which one doesn’t do pollo that well, but they all have charm for me. Chipotle is not one of these. But it is one of the few chain restaurants that I will NEVER feel bad about eating at, simply because of their position on ingredients with integrity. Who knows where the carne comes from at an AdaRigoPueste-bertos. At Chipotle? Pasture raised beef with no antibiotics — from a farm, not a factory. In 2015 Chipotle became the first national restaurant company to use NOGMO ingredients in any of their food(check out their website). That gets my attention. They also use whole ingredients, cooked on site in each restaurant. For several months the Hillcrest location had a sign up that said that due to a limited supply of responsibly raised pork, they weren’t able to offer Carnitas as a menu option. You know what? Good for them! Rather than get miffed at not being able to get my bacon, I appreciated that they’re actually looking out for my best interests, even when I wasn’t. This isn’t the kind of place that gets 5 star reviewed by me because of the décor(it’s fine), or the service, even though everyone is pleasant and I’ve never had a bad experience. The 5 stars are for an exceptional stance of responsible sourcing of ingredients to make clean food I come back for again and again. And I do. It’s a bit pricier than some of the greasy taco shops(which I prefer late night, cash only), but I always enjoy the food, whether it’s a chicken bowl loaded with fajita veggies or a carnitas burrito with all the salsas. And knowing their strict position on whole foods, local farms, fresh ingredients, and no GMO, it’s never a guilty pleasure.

This chipotle is a hit or miss. I’ve ordered online and there have been multiple instances when ingredients are missing. Some times they completely skimp you other times they stuff the bowls. I’ve stuck to ordering inside rather than online, it’s not worth paying extra for guacamole and not getting it. The staff has always been friendly.

The food was good and everything was clean. I did not see any problem with the service. However, there is not much room inside, it felt very small and claustrophobic. Outside was a bit better. Parking was not good at all. You either have street parking or a small lot and they both seem to be filled even at not peak hours. If you do wish to attend this location I would suggest walking, or being flexible enough to look for parking farther away and sitting outside on a nice day.
