Terrific, homemade soups, salads, and sandwiches at very reasonable prices. Hard to find a seat at lunchtime so best to come at off hours. The three soups per day vary and are chock full of vegies. Special salad is greens, chopped chicken, sliced fruit, nuts or seeds, and a homemade dressing. Sandwiches can be turkey, lamb, vegetarian, or the famous spicy chicken melt.

Had the their signature spicy chicken sandwich, it was just spicy enough and had a great flavor. My wife had the portabella chicken sandwich. She really liked the combo of veggie flavors. In a plaza with some other fast food options, but this is the best. It has really small indoor seating, maybe 4 tables and a few tables outside too. Friendly service.

Came here to grab some quick lunch since the reviews were good. Forget the«quick» part. This place only takes cash. So after a 20min round trip to the ATM and back to place my order I was already in a bad mood. Food was good but not great. But honestly. ITS2016ALREADY!!! ACCEPTATM/DEBIT/CREDIT cards already!!! WTF!!! I might come back here if I have cash burning a whole in my pocket…

Be Warned! You will get addicted to the spicy chicken melt! It is that GOOD! The daily soups are also delicious as are the salads. I work in Scripps and eat lunch here at least once a week. The owners Saira and Ali are super cool and very friendly. Can get very busy if SRHS students are about, but well worth the short wait. I swear they could franchise this business and it would be an instant success. I will be your first franchisee! Keep up the awesomeness Chez Nous! I am a fan for life.

So sad I didn’t know about this place existence until recently!!! Such a great place to grab lunch. Next to the freeway, cheap, delicious, and great service. I wanted to try as much as I could when I went so I bought the spicy chicken melt, portobello mushroom, and roast beef sandwich. Each of the sandwich costed around $ 5⁄6 so I expected a small sandwich. I was so wrong… they were HUGE! The spicy chicken melt was really good. Very creamy and I love the toasting of the sandwich. The portobello sandwich was more plain but it was my favorite. Lots of chicken and all of the flavors blended well. The roast beef sandwich tasted very common but I love that they give you a lot of roast beef. Would definitely come back anytime I’m craving a sandwich! I recommend: — Portobello sandwich — Spicy chicken melt

Yes the sandwiches are great, but my favorite is their Special Salad. This salad is loaded with fresh seasonal fruits, amazing dressing, and tender chicken. You’d be hard pressed to find a better salad anywhere.

As any Scripps Ranch resident will tell you after relocating for college, Chez Nous literally tastes like home. A bite of it will harken any SRHS alumni back to the days they’d all come here during free periods and order spicy chicken melts when it was still a local secret! It’s a small business with a no frills café vibe that has happened to expand rapidly via word of mouth because of its sandwich(one of the best in SD). But they still keep it intimate by handing you sandwiches personally. But to the goods: THESPICYCHICKENMELT. It’s chicken served in a creamy spicy sauce with tomato and crisp, buttery jalapeño bread(go early because its not uncommon for this bread to run out and it really makes it!) The spices pack a distinct punch and it actually is mouthwatery comfort in a sandwich. Seating is scant, especially when it’s best eaten fresh(the plastic to-go wrapping makes the bread soggy) but the patio is a cute area to dine since the inside can get crazy hot. An alternative is driving your sandwich to La Jolla for a beachside eat. It is, however, cash only, hours limited, and pricey for a sandwich($ 7) but the melt in your mouth goodness is not easily replicated(believe me, I’ve tried!) and this is the only place to quench that craving!

Living in scripps ranch all my life, I’m lucky to have this sandwich place just down the hill from my house. Of course, their most popular sandwich is the spicy chicken melt… So get it! It’s about $ 7 but it is so worth it. I would suggest eating it there instead of taking it Togo bc it’s more crispy and delicious when you eat it the second you get it handed from the super friend owner. He’s always so pleasant. Anyways, the sandwich: buttery/crunchy bread, cheesy, spicy hot shredded chicken, their special sauce. I think they make their own bread too. Also, They only take CASH.

Pros: My spicy chicken melt was delicious and«home made» style. Cons: Small sandwich, very expensive for the size(about $ 8) and CASHONLY!

Awesome sandwich joint with very good prices. Give it a shot and come hungry with cash too; spicy chicken was amazing. Will try it again too

Hype for the Spicy Chicken Melt is real. The bread is toasted and not overly greasy. The chunks of chicken are juicy and tender, balanced with the crispy texture of the toasted bread and melts in your mouth. Thin slices of tomato, easy to miss when the rest of the melt packs so much mouthwatering flavor. I usually order the special salad to add some greens to the otherwise carb and protein heavy melt. They have a fruit salad that I highly recommend that refreshes the palate. Slices of strawberry, raspberries, blackberries, grapes, and peach spears, all on a bed of walnuts, feta, and spring mix. Also includes a sweet dressing but with all those fruits, I usually ditch the dressing. Great for lunch, the seating for this sandwich shop is cramped but they do have some patio tables. I find it weird that this place is cash only so going here requires a little forethought. There are no ATMs in the plaza this shop is located in, so plan ahead if you stay cashless.

Have been eyeing this place for a while and finally made it here for lunch. Boy it did not disappoint. Spicy chicken melt: it isn’t all that healthy, it’s mostly chicken, spicy sauce and cheese with a slice of tomato, but this was super delicious, juicy chicken, the sauce even reminds me of srirarcha. THe bread didn’t taste like jalapeño cheese, but maybe it is. I loved that it’s toasted! Portobello chicken: a really delicious sandwich. It’s not as intense as the spicy chicken melt, so if you like something more mild in terms of seasoning, this one is it. the portobello is in relatively good slices so it’s meaty. Flavor’s balanced, and the bread is slightly toasted as well. Bowl of soup of the day: Turkey barley. It’s actually more intense than I expected, because I anticipated a chicken/turkey broth base, but this was a tomato base. It’s made with ground turkey, with the rosemary roll. Just amazing, texture was right, ground turkey is soft, and well seasoned. Very friendly service. I am returning again in the future!

From the previous reviews one could say that the spicy chicken sandwich is to die for. I am sorry to say that that sandwich the very reason that I am writing this review. It is the only one that I’ve tried on the menu, and I must say that I’m perfectly fine if I never try anything else. This place is definitely worth the stars, I just couldn’t give it five because the hours are very tricky. It’s not a place you can just pull up to, you have to be mindful of the hours of operation. Other than that you won’t be disappointed.

I wish they were open longer on days I crave it at night. This place is still cash only. They have a good variety of drinks like canned soda and tea, etc. I go here for the spicy chicken melt. It’s currently $ 6.48 equaling to $ 7 with tax. Whatever they put in this sauce is spell-binding. After the first bite, your taste buds are just overwhelmed by the perfection of the sandwich. Perfect amount of spiciness. No doubt, the spicy chicken melt is on my list for Top Sandwiches in San Diego. I’m shocked there are people in the nearby Subway, I hope they know what they are missing! It’s pretty small inside but there’s also some outdoor seating. Also getting out of this parking lot can be a little scary since it’s so close to the freeway and people are trying to get on it which makes it really busy.

This was a tough one, I wanted to give them 5 stars but the way they wrapped their spicy chicken melt makes the bread a little soggy. Little hidden treasure of san diego, the service is great and it comes out pretty fast! I thought it was cute when they walked up to me and gave me my to-go personally. I LOVELOVE their chicken melt! It’s delicious, taste like a great homemade sandwich. Also, it’s complimented with tomatoes inside the price is roughly around $ 7. But for the size and taste, definitely worth it !

I drive by this place all the time when I visit the neighboring sushi place and have never ever noticed it. Super hidden gem in the Mira Mesa/old Scripps area! Like many Unilocaler’s before me, the spicy chicken sandwich is really that good lol. It feels like a home made sandwich, but when your mom makes it for you haha. Then my girlfriend got the salmon salad, and it was awesome! I’m not the biggest salad guy, but I can easily eat this salad daily. Some downsides, it’s Africa hot in there during the summer lol. I don’t get how the employees work through that. They were NOT overly nice or anything, pretty much took my money and gave me food… probably grumpy cause it’s so hot. Their to go plating on a hot sandwich makes it kind of soggy. I would give them 4.5 stars but I’ll round up cause while it was hot, they had the coldest water ever lol which was good.

They’re spicy chicken melt is to diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiie for! The sauce is perfect and not too spicy but enough and it’s pretty creamy. Seriously the bomb. I have been coming here since my high school days since it’s so close! I haven’t really tried anything else from there. The location itself is pretty small but there’s a couple tables and chairs. The owner is really nice as well. The only downside is that they only take cash and they close super early! I believe 3 or 3:30 and they are closed on Sundays as well :(Bummer because i’m always craving it then haha but definitely make sure you try the spicy chicken melt!!! You won’t regret it.

#1SANDWICHJOINTINSANDIEGO! I always get the Spicy Chicken Melt on either the bread it comes with, a little spicy, or on sourdough bread. No matter what you choose, this sandwich will blow your mind. It is so creamy, filled with flavor, & the chicken is tender. The service is awesome as well! Cash only!

The Spicy Chicken Melt!!! What is this Spicy Chicken melt that everyone is raving about!?! I had to come here and give it a try. This is a cute lil eatery, which serves salads, sandwiches and daily soups! There are several small tables inside and outside(4 directly outside the shop). Don’t sit at the tables that are outside of Subway in the shade, because they won’t serve you there. Get there early with a friend, so one can order, and the other can grab a table. This place fills up quickly for lunch! Get there early(11:30ish) to avoid a long line. On my first visit, I ordered the spicy chicken melt of course! I can’t handle anything spicy, because I just can’t taste flavors anymore, and I love enjoying my food! I was extra cautious inquiring about the spiciness of this melt. The owner was such a sweetie(he handles all orders). He explained it was not really too spicy, but he wouldn’t be able to take out the spicy cause it’s what the sauce is, mixed in with the chicken. Ok… I’ll give it a try. I loved the light buttered toasted bread, and the gooey chicken oozing out as you take a bite. It had a spicy bite, but overall the sandwich was really yummy. Very easy for a girl like me to eat the entire sandwich. It was good! On my last visit I got the Portobello Chicken sandwich. I love Portobello, and all the ingredients together sounded delish. Nice thick chicken breast smothered with Portobello, grilled onions, peppers and tomato, on a roll. It was a really tasty sandwich; I think it would’ve been even better on the melts buttery toast! Sandwich and Vanilla coke only $ 8.10!

I really don’t even remember how I stumbled upon this place but I was leaving in a big hurry from the office and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat before heading back to the grind. I was going to stop by Subway, which is next door, until I saw the sign for Mr. Chez Nous. The music in here took me for a loop, this place was blasting club music when I walked in. I didn’t know what to think until I gazed over at the menu. What caught my eye was the pinto & salsa soup on their specials menu, which sounded great on a semi cold San Diego day. Chez Nous has a big deli case up front( ) with lots of different pre made salads, almost anything you can think of, he has it from Tuna, chicken to potato. The chicken chipotle club( ) certainly earns its name because this sandwich was super spicy. The chicken was super moist, almost liked it was pulled pork, it flaked off when touching it with a fork. The bread was toasted perfectly and guac /chipotle combo really worked for this sandwich. I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich here, although it was quite small compared to most deli places. My favorite of the meal was cup of pinto & salsa soup( ). This soup had lots of flavor, was hearty and very spicy. This is just what my body needed on this chilly day to get back into work mode. I grabbed some coffee to go as I left, their coffee is housed in a container up front to the left. The guy was really picky about refills, he was going to charge me but said it was old coffee anyways(thanks for letting me drink it). Despite the weird club music and grumpy guy up front, I enjoyed my quick lunch at Nous and would recommend it for a place to stop for a nice sandwich or salad.
