3.5 stars. The taste and quality of the sushi are good enough. Bonus points for allowing pick-up orders, which is very convenient b/c I live right down the street. Just wishing that there was a little more variation with the sushi. Our order came with all of the sauces on the side and I couldn’t remember which rolls they were supposed to go with. Not hard on the wallet, though. Not sure if I will order from them again when I know I can do AYCE at RB Sushi down the street for $ 25.

Big Bang is my favorite sushi spot, must try! Every time we get sushi, we get around 11 – 17 rolls. I’ve tried places all over but I always come back to Big Bang. Katana in Carmel valley was our usual but I started getting bad service for ordering too much? Since when does spending almost $ 200 on sushi become bad for business? So I hopped on Unilocal, and found BB. I call and take my time ordering all my sushi rolls and each time the person who picked up has been patient and really nice. They get all my orders done in 25 minutes, I drive by to pick up the sushi and everyone at home is more than satisfied with their yummy specialty rolls :)

First off, the server we first started with didn’t know half of what was on the menu. She had to check to see if they had Dr. pepper as a soda, and didn’t know what one of the beers even were. Next, we asked her for a glass of water on three different occasions. Then ended up having to ask someone else for some to get any. We watched our rolls on the bar sit there for ten minutes. Nothing tasted right. Wasn’t worth ordering more drinks because by the time they’d get there we’d be ready to go. The place looks nice which got the second star. But the service was shitty and I won’t be back. **Edit** Well. That sealed the deal. During payment, we agreed that the waitress did not deserve her tip because of multiple incidences and some I didn’t even mention, but while paying she stopped me and pointed out that I did not tip and said I needed to. A tip is earned not expected. I don’t think the service I was given through this meal was sufficient enough for it. The fact I was forced to tip made this entire experience a whole lot worse than it already was.

Most of this review will be compared to RB Sushi, which is the competing AYCE sushi in the same town. Price: Tie for lunch, this is $ 1 more for dinner than RB. Taste: Similar to another reviewer, the rice used in the nigiri is terrible. Its overly sweet and not seasoned correctly. Takes sushi chefs years to perfect rice. BB fails here. RB Sushi rice while not great(or even good) BUT is better compared to BB. Hot foods at BB are decent, no complaints there. Nigiri at BB is acceptable, RB nigiri taste/quality is noticeably better. Value: Cuts of fish at BB are bigger than RB, so win here. HOWEVER, quality of fish at RB is better, as reflected in the fresher tasting nigiri. Cuts of fish did not really have much flavor to it. Since we over ordered, we had to pay ala carte price for nigiri. WARNING. Two pieces of uni ala carte cost $ 13!!! WTF!!! Service: Took a LONG time for us to get a server to give us drinks/menus. Booo. Waiter also could have warned us to eat the more expensive nigiri(eg. uni) and pay extra for the cheaper ones… but he didn’t. Booo x 2. Overall stayed 2 hours. Average stay in RB is 1.5 hrs. Boooo x 3. Overall, if this is only AYCE game in town, it is acceptable. Again, DONOT over order or pay through the nose! All the nigiri came out at the end(eg. 45 minutes after) the hot food came out, so being ravishingly hungry, we ate all the hot foods. Dumb mistake. All the expensive nigiri came last, so we were all full by then and so had to pay overcharge. Conspiracy to overcharge? Perhaps. Beware!
Back to RB sushi, better service, better price, better taste, better sushi experience. Sorry but Big bang was a BIGBUST.

This is my family’s second time to eat dinner at Big Bang! Nothing but positive experiences. The service is great and friendly staff. One small gripe is the servers who bring the food out should know who ordered what food so we do not have to tell them to whom the dish goes to. The food is cooked fresh and taste great. The sushi is above average. We have no desire to try the all you can eat, in my opinion they should do away with it, «all you can eat» is usually associated with Casino’s and cafeteria style eating establishments. The place is clean. The dining room is very open and spacious which is perfect for large parties, it could use a little warmth, maybe some plants, table cloths, etc. No issues with the restrooms, clean and the toiletries were available. Overall good value! We will return.

Why didn’t anyone warn me about the rice!!! I pass by Big Bang everytime on my way home and finally had the chance to stop by for dinner with my family. Being associated with Love Boat sushi, which I’ve only heard great things about, all of us were excited to continue the Thanksgiving gluttony and chow down on quality sushi. Parking was surprisingly easy given the small parking lot and prime dinner time, and we were even seated right away. The rice. Oh gawd the rice. Out of a party of five, two of us opted for the $ 25.95 All You Can Eat option. We rationalized an order of nigiri on the regular menu costs about $ 5 to $ 6, so we’d only need to order 5 or 6 plates to take advantage of the AYCE price. Easy, right? Beware the sticky rice and sticky pencils. Though the quality of the fish was actually ok, with the exception of the mushy spicy tuna in the rolls, the rice made for an unpleasant dining experience. It reminded me of grocery store sushi roll rice. All five of us left with an upset stomach and a bad taste in our mouth due to unmet expectations. The only highlight of the night was the birthday celebration for the party next to us, with the exciting firecracker candle. Hopefully it was just an off night, but unfortunately I don’t see myself returning.

Before we talk about the sushi, I need to point out that Big Bang Sushi has a cartoony-fun décor which makes the dining experience more interesting. They also have unique serving plates and the sushi comes well-presented on a slab of wood. You know they put thought into presentation and I appreciate that. For lunch, we got the all you can eat sushi which allowed us to pick anything from a special menu. They had all your major fishes like tuna and salmon as well as eel, scallop, clam, and more. The nigiri came with large pieces of fish which is always satisfying. This may be silly but I especially liked the moist and flavorful seaweed salad. I’ll definitely be coming here again.

We had all you can eat here. The fish quality Is way Bette than RB sushi. Especially for their uni. Uni at RB Is really gross. Of course it’s not comparable to OTA,but definitely decent for a AYCE place. Too bad they are going to discountinue their AYCE. Because some Customer complaing about the rules! That really sucks for people who followed the rule and enjoyed the food! :(

Just had lunch from this place with a friend. And I’ll have to say that this is an interesting spot. You can definitely tell that this restaraunt is still trying to get it’s footing on what kind of place it wants to be. First, lets talk about the location & parking. It’s actually kind of off putting to get there, because the intersection that it sits on has no U-turn when you get off the 15. So it takes a bit longer than you expect b/c you have to go up the street and make another Uturn somwhere else. It’s also kind of a bummer that once you pull into the lot, there’s no parking and this area only takes valet. This tells me two things: 1) This isnt the best location for a popular lunch spot 2) BUT this place must be pretty good if it only has valet parking during this time Fortunately, I found a spot across the street & I didn’t mind the walk. As I entered, I thought the interior was pretty nice. Everything is decked out with comfortable and modern looking furniture. The waiting staff was accomadating, but our waitress seemed like she was having a rough day and it showed in her service. As for the food, it’s plated beautifully. However, the quality is only decent and not as fresh as I was hoping it would be. I definitely suggest ordering their Nigiri rolls though, they’re quite sayisfying. Their special rolls are pretty good too, but sometimes its a hit or miss. I really liked their CA Pearl & Scallop roll they were delicious. Overall, this place is pretty good. It’s not a place I would visit again anytime soon, but I’ll definitely make time visit again as this place grows.

Good food, quality seafood, BUT still continues to have HORRIBLESERVICE! We have been to this establishment 5 times, each time with poor to mediocre service. You may ask why we go back — 1. It’s 2 minutes away; 2. Food is actually good. By far, today’s visit was the worst, and it all happened within the last 10 minutes we were there… From the last time we visited, the AYCE portions got larger, 6 pc. sushi roll is actually 12 pc, just cut into 6. Nigiri was huge as well… Both are usually good things. Fault of our own, we got too full and couldn’t finish our food, so we ate the fish from the Nigiri and left the rice. We were already expecting to pay extra and the paper stated we would have to pay $ 0.50 per rice($ 4.00 total), perfectly fine. When we asked for the check, the server told us we had to pay extra, which we had expected, BUT said the policy changed last week and that the new policy is to pay the ala carte price, which would have been around $ 15.00 extra. I showed him the paper stating the $ 0.50/nigiri rice, he said ok… THEN he started to tell us how rude we were being to the chefs and that it takes them days to make sushi rice and how hard they all work, then walked away. I was surprised that any server would ever tell a customer they were rude, especially if there are already documented AYCE policies. They obviously have them because customers may not finish their food! Days to make sushi rice??? WTF?! When the server came back with the check, I asked him if it was customary to tell a customer they were rude… His answer was YES and that they work so hard, etc… I tried to make a point that we’re the paying customer and we understand the policy which is why we were paying the fees, but it’s uncalled for to say we’re rude for not finishing our food and that we are disrespecting the chef. SERIOUSLY?! I asked to speak with a Manager, and he said he was the Assistant Manager, which shocked me. He continued to plead his case that we were rude, etc… They want to talk about being rude, while we were there, majority of the employees were eating at a table in the restaurant while customers were sitting there. I noticed a woman get up to give her card to a waitress, a lady who walked in and had to wait to be spoken to. and we’re rude customers for paying for the overage?! NEVERAGAIN, we’re done trying to give Big Bang Sushi another chance. Good luck with their customer service, but if you don’t want to chance it, you should visit RB Sushi an exit away, which is our go to spot anyways. Can’t say we didn’t try to warn you!

Pretty good place here. I’m one of those people that hates seafood so, naturally, I’m the schmuck who goes to a sushi restaurant and orders chicken. Fortunately this place has a nice extended menu for people like me. Of course I had to order the combo dish. Whenever you see a combo on a menu that’s always the best bet, especially for someone as decisive as I am. Do I get chicken? Do I get beef? Well how about getting the best of both worlds and order the combo?! So I got the teriyaki chicken and beef plate and it was pretty good. I’d certainly like to give this place another try and maybe check out another menu item but my first visit was certainly a good one. Service was nice and prompt. Parking lot totally sucks but oh well. My only real«beef»(lolz beef) is that the portion of meat seemed kinda small, even for a combo dish. The price was right but I’d be willing to pay more for a larger portion. Either way, I like this place. Recommend.

This is a review for the AYCE. Food Quality: 3⁄5 Service: 4.5÷5 Overall: 3.5÷5 Dinner AYCE is $ 25.95, not a bad price for all you can eat sushi(and appetizers). You order in 3 rounds with your table and are limited to one order per person of the higher-end items. You can tell there is a lack in quality with some of the fish, but for AYCE that’s expected and not a problem. We came for quantity. The service was superb, our waiter kept all of our drinks topped off and was very accommodating. The lead time between rounds of sushi orders was very large, probably to get us full for less. Unfortunate, but a business strategy all the same. I was originally inclined to round my rating to a 4, but had stomach problems for the remainder of the night after eating. Overall not a bad experience. I wouldn’t refuse to come back. But you get what you pay for, including the possible post-ingestion digestive discomfort.

This place gets 3 star from me, I would give it 5 star if they stop limiting certain items on their AYCE. Paying 25.95 dollars for AYCE is quite a bit and having to be able to only order 1 time per person is a such a turn off. Obviously we did AYCE and we had quite a few nigiri and rolls. I would really recommend Wasabi roll. That stood out for me. Services here is much better than RB Sushi. I say it is a bit on a pricey side but it is not bad. Again, please stop limiting 1 order per person and I say this place will be a hit and might as well put RB sushi to shame!

I certainly earned a Big Bang for my Bucks having lunch her with their $ 20.95 all you can eat Mini Bang lunch special. In the end, I ate $ 45 worth of sushi and appetizers. I ate at the the sushi bar, where service was attentive by the sushi chefs, but a little hit and missed by the floor servers. Anyways, the Mini Bang offered more than enough to choose from. My favorites were the Salmon and Avocado Roll, Tuna Rolls, and the Seared Tuna Sushi. The Salmon roll came with rich salmon, creamy avocado, and there was no skimping on the salmon. The tuna roll was very good and the tuna was quite tasty with a light flavor and mild oily texture. I ordered the Salmon and avocado twice. I also had a Yellow Tail, Tuna, and Seared Tun Sushi. All of them were great, but my favorite was the well seasoned and lightly marinated seared tuna. Its flavor was great, had a little heat, and was lightly sear which gave the tuna a new level of agreeable texture. I had several of these. Then, since I ate a number of fish items, I decided to have them make me a spicy scallop roll, some fried ground pork gyoza, and a broiled salmon collar. The spicy scallop roll was great. I liked that they packed the scallops and lightly dressed the scallops; as a result, the scallops’ flavors were clean and tasty. The fried gyozas were lightly fried, smartly sprinkled with a little salt, and filled with tender ground pork and vegetables. The salmon kama’s meat was succulent and had a light crust. The meat inside was piping hot right out of the broiler, and was very tender and flavor full. I would order this again. All in all, a great meal and great price, especially if you are a big eater like myself. You can also order a la carte during lunch as well.

Ok so my wife and I decided to give this place a try since we used to frequent it when it was Love Boat Sushi. I’ll add it was great being the first customers of the day since we received quick service and even had a meet and greet with the manager. Note they have two menus. One where you order al la carte or all you can eat with three options. We decided to the the Big Bang which was pretty much everything. I particularly like nigiri and sashimi so I definitely was pleased. The slices were fresh and huge compared to other places I have frequented. Take a look at my pics… I didn’t order any beverages, liquor or beer but will next time. I wanted to make sure I enjoyed my food and didn’t compromise my taste buds… The salmon belly was delicious as well as the spicy seafood salad. This place has new furniture and a much better layout as compared to when it was Love Boat but they do not have any TVs. They did add a prize wheel for birthday guests, unfortunately we weren’t celebrating a birthday. My wife and I only went two rounds, since she’s a light weight– but we definitely enjoyed the selection. We will be back for sure. Maybe next time with a lager parter to be able to share everything. Save room for dessert. I will add that you must get here early as parking is a bit lacking as there is a Starbucks next door. I can go on and on but then I might make Elite Status… Lol so I’ll stop now. Give this place a try — you’ll leave happy and full. I might not even have dinner!

I ordered a salmon avocado roll that was amazing. The fish was totally fresh and the portion of fish was generous. They put in a ton of avocado which seems to be rare at sushi joints. My server was lovely and sweet. Almost too attentive! I really like the new remodel that they have done… the atmosphere is beautiful and clean. I’ve never done all you can eat sushi but someday I hope to try that. The only complaint I have is that my glass of wine was very very small. Part of my joy in eating out is enjoying a nice glass of wine and I would have ordered a second but I was too disappointed in the first.

Grand opening on 3/30, so my friends and I decided to drop by for lunch. Recently renovated, it appears this is the second Love Boat Sushi to undergo a name change. The interior definitely has a more bright and lively ambiance, a nice touch. From my experience, the menu format has been revamped, but still has much of the same offerings from before. Interestingly enough, they’ve gone the way of the local competitor RB sushi and are now offering a sushi buffet, but instead they have three different tiers for pricing. There are limits to certain things on the ayce menu, so keep that in mind. I ordered the lunch combo($ 11) with steak teriyaki and mixed sashimi. The lunch portions are not by any means generous, but filing enough. I do appreciate that the steak was cooked nicely and flavorful without being salty, and the sashimi pieces were nice and buttery in texture, albeit with a more fishy taste surprisingly. The salad is plain iceberg lettuce wedge, with standard sesame dressing. Here’s to hoping they’ll change it to spring mix or something, since at this price point it’s expected and delivered at other Japanese restaurants I’ve been to. Nothing spectacular if you’re not having all you can eat, I suppose. The service is a bit slow during peak hours, and we did have to send back our entrees as they didn’t make them according to what we ordered, but they quickly corrected them. Overall I will be back to try their sushi buffet sometime and update my review, but may stick to the nigiri as another reviewer suggested.

Alright pretty cool renovation! Having come to the old love boat… the new lay out is much better lots of tables for small and bing groups! One big table in the center can sit 10. Plenty of sushi bar seating about 10 — 12 people. Lunch specials are pretty standard and they are as follows: Entrees: Chicken teriyaki Miso glazed black cod Mixed tempura Salmon ter Safe rib BBQ Spicy sesame chicken Steak ter. Veg. Fried rice Lunch combo Choose any 2 $ 11 served with rice and salad Chicken ter. Cal roll Steak ter. Spicy tuna roll Salmon ter. Veg. Roll Mixed tem. Sashimi Sesame chicken. Lunch specils M — F 11am — 2pm Parking can be of a hassle since there isn’t much of it, we parked across the street near the 76 gas station and the old elephant bar. We all ordered the lunch combos. Which are pretty similar to the ones from love boat. So now they have the bday wheel… Which anyone can spin on their bday to win various prizes… But it is still being set up… and they don’t do the lights off singing routine as before. :(
