soooo DISAPOINTED!!!!!!!!!! We used to love this Resteraunt we would go graduations, Birthdays and anniversaries etc. NEVER AGAIN NEVER
.The price has doubled and the food is not half as GOOD!
we spend at least a hundred dollars every time WITH OUT the tip
After ordering several appetizers wine and beer two meals. I said the duck tasted uncooked and it was RED still bloody.
I complained to the owner that we have met at least 20 times before, she explained I should have said well done.
After I contacted the waiter and requested another dish he came and took our order he said we needed to pay for the duck we did not like. after he said I will give you 50 percent off.
we ordered another plate. when we got the bill I asked if he discounted the unwanted food and he says his mgr. ( the owner said not to discount the uneaten food!!!!! While all this was happening a black gentle man asked us if we were billed before we ate , because they were billed before they got any food!!!!! I was dumfounded to be a witness to such despicable discrimination!!!! WE WILL NEVER GO BACK ( NOT THAT IT MATTERS BUT I AM AS WHITE AS YOU CAN GET) WE WERE HORRIFIED!!!!!!!
if you love human beings and think we should ALL be treated equally!!!!!!
DONT support the Resteraunt. the owners also own the Bun and Barrell on Austin high way

First time eating Thai Food. The décor was fitting for the menu choices. The food was flavorful and I loved the Tai Tea Bubble drink, which was creamy and a good size. We started with the spring rolls which we dipped in sauce that they came with. I ordered Pad Thai which were noodles in a unique tasting sauce. It had an assortments of meats and tofu. My boys are the lemon chicken which were enough for them to share. We are definitely going to return for more delicious food.

I love the décor at Tongs Thai, it’s so pretty. The little patio is cute too. I highly recommend the fried spring roll appetizers, they’re SOOO good. I had a craw fish sushi roll and it was damn good. I would pass on the orange chicken if that’s your«go to» cuz I’ve had better. They’re bubble teas are good too, they are a little too sweet for me but good nonetheless. That crawfish roll was hella good tho, I wanna go back just for that

Tong’s Thai has a fan in me. I’ve had good experience with dine-in and carryout. I try to try something new and different each time I go and I haven’t been disappointed yet. So far I have tried: several sushi rolls(california, Ariel’s special, tong kan and philadelphia roll), Mongolian beef, beef and vegetables, crab rangoons, and Thai iced tea. Ohh, do I LOVE Thai iced tea! I’ll be back soon to let my taste buds explore some more of Tong’s menu!

Arrived at 5pm on a week night, seated quickly quick service, staff was very friendly. My wife and I ordered sesame chicken and orange chicken, they came quickly and were delicious. Highly recommend! They have a good variety of Thai, Chinese and sushi. They have dessert but we were too full to get any!

I visit this place quite often and I find their food little spicy so I always go for basic spice level. Kang keo wan is on the spicier side while panang curry is not that hot. I tried Northern curry with tofu and vegetables and I loved it! House rolls are great too. I take every guest who visit me in San Antonio to Tong’s Thai. They have good patio seating but it’s under renovation. Their Thai iced tea is a must try! Update: Steve & Nong, I shall soon stop by when my friends are visiting me this month(June). I shall update my review then :)

Last time I gave it this a four star, this time it gets a 5. I LOOOOOOVVEE Tom Kha Gai soup and this was the best one I’ve ever tasted! I’ve gone to quite a few Thai places and have yet to try one this spectacular! The straw mushroom were perfect, the chicken was perfectly tender, there weren’t too many flavorful bits of lemongrass stalk left in the soup, had a good amount of bamboo shoots… Super creamy… I’d come back just for the soup. No wait. I don’t think I could leave without a bubble tea. Oh my damn the bubble tea was something else. I really love Taro but they were out, so I ordered a cookies & cream. This is my new addiction. If I didn’t love cookies & cream flavored things enough already, this bubble tea tastes like you are drinking an Oreo. Heaven. Then delicious little bobas at the bottom? Even. Better. I tried my friends avocado boba smoothie too. I’ve tried 2 other avocado boba drinks before this and I’m not a big fan of avocado in drink form,(I like it in guac form) but… none compared to this. This drink can best be described in one word — refreshing! It wasn’t too sweet, to had a perfect balance. This drink would make me want to order this on my own again, but right now I have visions of cookies & cream bubble tea dancing in my head…

A very clean restaurant. We came here after church and saw it driving by and thought, «why not?» My wife got the Pad Thai and I had a little bit of it and it was good. It had a sweet taste to it. Not overbearing. I got Tong’s Thai bowl with beef. It was really good as well. It was a little bland but they had sauces on the table to make it more appealing for the taste. Both of our dishes came out to $ 29.21 It’s not a loud place at all. They have 70s music playing. Waitress was nice and patient as well. Seems like a nice staff. I’d come again to try something new.

My husband and I got in the door exactly at 11am. First dibs on the table. They have great friendly service. Today I feel special cause of all the perks you get when your the 1st customer of the day. Tried their spring roll and it is wonderful! I also ordered the fried rice sea food combo. You must try.

Arguably the best Thai in San Antonio. I would almost stack it up against Sway in Austin. Tastiest Tom Yum I’ve ever had, and so incredibly well spiced I don’t think I’ll need antibiotics ever again for anything. Nice Thai Crêpe as well, although eat it there and don’t order it for take out — I think it loses a little punch when it cools off. Very friendly and peppy staff. I plan on making Tong’s at least a monthly habit, and I know I’ll never have to worry about Ebola. Scott H.

This place is great! I’ve been here a few times now and I’ve never had a bad meal. Today I came by myself and sat at the sushi bar. The gentlemen working was so nice and very accommodating. He saw that my soup needed more broth and brought it out without me asking! Awesome food great service. Give it a try!

I came to Tong’s Thai last night with very low expectations. My friend suggested we meet here for dinner, otherwise I would have never tried this place based off of the reviews. I ordered Pad Thai, and to my surprise it was delicious! The service was also better than many Thai restaurants I have been to. The atmosphere was cute, and not too loud. I will definitely come back to try other menu items. Give them a shot, and then a good review if you like them; they deserve it.

I came to this place many many years ago when I was living in Austin. I came to visit some friends and I had lunch here. I still remember that eating a spicy meal in the summer is not a good idea. Nevertheless, I was impressed by the food quality. I never forgot the taste. Sadly, I forgot the establishment’s name. Years went by. I wasn’t craving for it. But I would think about that place. Whenever it came up in discussion, I would talk about this restaurant and mention how it looked like this exotic jungle feel to it. Now. I came with my wife in December to see San Antonio. I was all moody and unwilling to pay to eat near the expensive Riverwalk area. So I opted to drive far out. I saw this restaurant open and headed out there. For no reason, the name didn’t ring a bell. When I pulled up, I still didn’t recognize it. I walked in and there I recognized the ambiance and layout. Till today I feel that this restaurant might have secretly moved or remolded from the days when I was in Austin back in 2007 and 2008. I got in and was seated. The food came out fast. I had the spring rolls and pad kee mao chicken. My wife had the pad thai with shrimp. Food was really good. The quality was great. Our server was amazing. She was very professional and helpful. The only thing the restaurant can improve on is the menu. They are old and falling apart. Other than that, the texture of the food, sauce amount, meat amount, freshness, taste, freshness of vegetables were very good. Even the spring rolls with shrimp in them were very good. Most places that serve these spring shrimp rolls have some weird smell. Not this place. Healthy, fresh and amazing. Would I come again? I think you know my answer. P. S. I had to look up this restaurant name again! I forgot it’s name.

Ok first: parking. Plenty. 2nd: service was great! Finally the food. Pad Thai and pad see u. Pad Thai taste good. Pad see u was good and tasty but it was so sweet it also disguised the hardness of the noodle. The noodle itself gave my jaw a workout. …but like I said, the sauce or seasoning was so powerful thAt it was good. Maybe I’ll try a 2nd time and think about it again

Ummmmm, not sure what to say … It was ok? We ordered 2 Thai beers, chicken satay and a cup of hot & sour soup, and 2 entrees(padd thai & Chiang Mai noodles) both medium heat. I was hoping the Chiangmai noodles would be similar to Khao Soi, which is from that region. No such luck. Sue waited on us and she didn’t recognize the name. When I said it’s supposed to be from Chiang Mai, she said, «Supposedly» in a light sarcastic tone. Not offensive but I’ve done my homework and khao Soi does come from that area. Maybe I’m reading them wrong. The beers were excellent! Chang & Singha were lagers with a hint of tartness, which I loved but the wife did not. Don’t get me wrong! She drank hers and ordered a second but she wasn’t a fan of the tart hint. :O The hot & sour soup … Not a fan. It was spicy hot but no sour to be found. I took 2 sips and wife took 1 sip. We pushed it aside. Sue was waiting on us and she inquired about the soup. I explained I didn’t care for it and she took it away. The chicken satay was excellent! Great flavor and the chicken was tender & moist. The wife loved it! Now for the entrees: Their Padd Thai comes with chicken, fried tofu, and shrimp with bean sprouts and crushed peanuts on the side of the plate. Wife ordered it medium spicy and it was. Enough to get her sniffles. Taste lacked something to me but she enjoyed it. The Chiang Mai noodles were received with mixed reviews. Wife loved them; I was underwhelmed. I ordered medium heat with chicken as protein. The chicken was good. The spice was zero. The dish had a variety of greens on the side of the bowl, topped with crispy noodles. I had to dig to find the other noodles that were in the very bottom. 1) Not sure what the greens were but is a Unilocaler recognizes then please feel free to message me. I liked them. 2) I liked the chicken. 3) It needed A LOT more noodles to be a noodle dish. My bowl was swimming in the saucy gravy. Description didn’t read like a soup, although my khow soy/khao soi is a soup. 4) It was not spicy ATALL. Zero. Nada. Zilch. 5) The sauce was much too sweet and plentiful. I tried to make it less sweet and more enjoyable by adding soy sauce, fish sauce, and a scoop from 2 different chili pots on the table. Only helped a little. After each addition I would stir it and taste and then add something else. By now the wife was getting worried that I was going to make it inedible and she wanted the leftovers, so I stopped experimenting. 6) I will make a small batch of noodles at home to add to this sauce. Maybe add a few items from my pantry. Or maybe I’ll just give to the wife. She liked it. :/ Overall, nice older restaurant & nice older Asian lady waiting in us. Very nice and attentive. Owner? Manager? Not sure. The koi pond out front is empty. Drained with caution tape surrounding it. Large aquarium inside is empty except rocks & gravel. Some nice first ions and umbrellas under lights to dim the brightness. Poor sushi chef had no orders and nothing to do. He stood to side to watch FIFA series. Oh and just FYI — even though we stated we didn’t like the soup, we were still charged for it. In my experience usually a place will take off such a minor item if not satisfied with it. Nope. Not here. Will I return? I doubt it. Will the wife? Probably but only with someone else. I would rather«try try again.» A lot of other Thai places to try.

Online delivery ordering experience — beyond abysmal. We ordered Tong’s online last night, but couldn’t complete the order because the credit card transaction page was down. I called and was told i had to repeat the entire order. She asked if «I was paying cash with no change, but I don’t have a total.» I told her I couldn’t commit to cash if she couldn’t give me a total. She said she was taking order by hand and would call me back with total. Ten minutes later I called for the total and she said she had many customers and didn’t put the order in yet. Since I had kids waiting on dinner, I canceled the order and ordered elsewhere. Silly me to think that I should have been considered A CUSTOMER as well.

Tong’s Thai has been here forever… Although it did have a slight name change and go through a beautiful remodel and renovation in the 20 years that I have been going here. The outdoor tropical patio with koi pond is a hidden gem… I just wish for perfect weather to enjoy it more often… As in, not too hot, not too cold. I’m not huge into Thai food but what I’ve tried is good. There are also a few Chinese options available. I usually go straight to sushi bar. Ariel’s Roll is my favorite. The sushi chef usually offers complimentary miso soup if you are the bar. The owners of Tong’s Thai also own Bun ‘n’ Barrel next door so you can park at either location as the parking is limited at Tong’s. It is a great little neighborhood place which keeps us coming back!
