Unique atmosphere. Waiter, Adam, excellent. Four in our party and we all enjoyed our selection from Muffallatta, Turkey Reuben, Portobello burger & Cod Provençal. Prices reasonable for our lunch.

I don’t know why it took me so long to write this review, considering how long I’ve been a fan, not to mention the fact that I was an employee(over 15 years ago). Don’t overlook this St. Augustine beach staple just because it looks a little funky from the outside, it’s a little funky inside too, but that’s why it’s so good. This place is not your boring, conventional, WASP, American fare. The menu is wide-ranging and eclectic and whatever you do, do not miss the house salad dressing. I know that sounds weird to say, who recommends a restaurant based on the dressing, but the nutritional yeast dressing is bowl-licking good(and full of essential B vitamins). I’m not alone in this opinion, as evidenced by the gallons they sell by the bottle($ 8) every day. Lots of vegetarian options, but my carnivore husband is always happy to go for the famous Gypsy Chicken. I’ve never had a bad meal there, and neither will you.

Went here for Valentine’s Day with my sweetie. We split a gorgeous(and affordable) bottle of wine, the mini pork shanks with perfect pierogies & the chili rellenos. Everything exceeded our expectations. Service was top notch, ambiance was cute quirky, reminiscent of Taos, NM. We come to St. Augustine once a month for business. We will definitely make this restaurant a mainstay.

A few years ago gypsy cab was the restaurant where both locals and tourists dined well. That was a few years ago. This week’s dinner was a far cry from days of old. The lamb had little taste, the gravy canned, and the vegetables from a heat lamp after being microwaved. A real disappointment. It will be years before I return. The service was appropriate but the food more fitting for a fast food chain.

Chile’s rellenos are fantastic. Ditto with the gypsy chicken. Waitress, Mary Kay, is friendly and efficient. Definitely will return.

Stood at the hostess stand for 15 minutes without being acknowledged. They looked like they had two servers, one bartender and one bus boy serving 30 or so tables. Definitely could use a help wanted sign on the door. We went to the Floridian downtown instead.

One of my all time favorite restaurants! I love their red cabbage salad-I can never get mine as good as theirs! Although I now live out of state, when I visit St. Auggie for vacation, Gypsy Cab is usually the first place we go to eat! I recommend their cheese stuffed chicken or their seafood scampi!

This place never dissapoints! I always get the calamari and it’s the best I’ve ever had… ANYWHERE. The portion is sized nicely and it is seasoned and cooked to perfection. The drinks from the bar are also very good. Great place to enjoy a nice dinner.

This place was so good that I finally signed up with Unilocal just to review it! We visited on Wednesday around 2:00PM. We were very hungry and tired. didn’t want the hassle of finding parking over the bridge in Saint Augustine and all other restaurants on Anastasia Blvd were either closed or just not the right atmosphere or the right type of food. The food at Gypsy Cab Co. was outstanding! All made with fresh products. The soup of the day was wonderful(Apple Squash). We actually took two orders to go because it was so good. the Sangria was well made. The main courses were all delicious. Jordan took care of us. She was a model of good service, attention to detail, and caring for the customer and for the food that was being served. Just one of the best waitresses I have ever seen. The restaurant was cute and welcoming. It is bigger than it looks. My only advise would be to make it more obvious that the restaurant is open. We drove by it twice and although the name did catch my eye, we thought it was closed. We searched Unilocal and found it again and then realized that perhaps it was open so we came back. Very glad we did!

Cute restaurant with exceptional service and good food. I got the signature salad and the homemade house dressing and it was great. Everything was super fresh and well seasoned. Our waiter was fantastic and made a good meal even better.

Visiting St Augustine and was looking for a mediterranean restaurant. Not what I was look for, decided to give it a try. Had roasted red pepper soup… ok, and egg plant parmesan and can’t complain.

On a whim, we met family here last Sunday, for lunch/brunch. The food was decent. Good burgers. Nice, huge portions of pasta. The sweet potato burrito was good, but seemed to be sweetened purée from a can. The simplest dish among our seven orders — a chicken salad wrap — took a lot longer to hit the table than the rest, and our food got cold while we waited. The atmosphere … well, the place seems in need of an update.

A great place to bring your grandma. We got the gypsy chicken(the restaurant’s signature dish) which was essentially a chicken cutlet with a bunch of pieces of swiss cheese placed in the slices the chef put in the chicken. Cabbage was pretty fascinating, maybe red wine flavor? Mashed potatoes, pretty meh. Broccoli was ok. Salad was so-so. I was underwhelmed, but did like that our server had a young girl that would follow her around creepily. We called her Igor and were upset that her eyes weren’t downcast. As everyone knows, when you have a submissive three steps back and one step to your left, they must always have their eyes toward the ground… amateurs!

The food took forever and the service was only okay. Wheres the flavor. My son’s portabello mushroom sandwich was so mushy and way over cooked.

They have a really good house salad here. We were told that the locals like to purchase jars of the house dressing to bring home. I had the Seafood Provancal and my husband had baked ziti with sausage, chicken and peppers. Both meals were excellent! The staff was friendly and attentive. So far this was the best meal we’ve had in the four days we’ve been in Saint Augustine. Very reasonably priced, especially when you consider the quality of the meal. Fresh and delicious.

Great lunch at Gypsy Cab Co on Anastasia Island here in St Augustine. I had the cheese burger with fries. Wife had the salad(big serving had to take some home) Burger served on a toasted bun with a couple of pickles and two tomato slices. Fries are excellent hot like they should be Great place good service. Total bill with tip $ 34.

This place has been a favorite of ours for over 20 years, going back to our first visit in the early 90’s. Saturday night was no different; another great dinner at Gypsy Cab. Tasty food; healthy portions; friendly, prompt & efficient waitperson — what’s not to like? Thankfully we had made a reservation, as the rapidly-growing dinner crowd packing in behind us filled the small entry area and the tiny bar. Our food was delicious. The large ½-duck w/vegetables was prepared crispy on the outside, yet juicy inside — just as advertised, and was divine. The classic Gypsy chicken was well received by a couple of our group — nice to know that our awesome server Christine’s recommendations were spot-on. And other folks in our group who had the blackened flounder were extremely pleased. Smiling faces all around. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed everything about our meal. It’s been at least 15 years since we’ve eaten here, yet comforting that the owners still know how to execute at such a high degree of quality. One of the beauties of living in FL is the number of small-town locally-owned gems like Gypsy Cab Company. If this restaurant was in Atlanta or Dallas or even Orlando, the ensuing popularity would make these folks nationally-recognized restauranteurs. Hope they stay right where they are — that way we can continue to get a table at one of our road trip special places. Very nice meal, very nice night.

We finally were able to have dinner at Gypsy Cab Co without a wait by arriving right at opening time. Some pro’s and con’s to the place but overall not in a hurry to return. The mussels appetizer in a garlic wine sauce with some pasta was delicious. However several mussels served were not fully popped open and despite my warning, my companion pried them open, ate some and ended up sick for a week. I was not too fond of the bread that came to the table(like regular roman meal bread) or that came with the dish(2 soft chunks of white bread). Warm bread, or crusty bread would have been better. We opted to split a meal since we did not want to eat too heavy and the meals here are huge. The $ 3.50 splitting charge seemed rather high, but they did split the meal on two plates in the kitchen and bring out the salad in two separate portions. The salad was fresh with crisp green leaf lettuce, but I found the house garlic dressing rather bland. The signature chicken dish was alright, but not spectacular, and served with mashed potatoes, sweet and sour red cabbage, and just barely steamed broccoli. The parking lot leaves a lot to be desired but since this place is always busy, they must be doing something right and I just did not notice.

Here for lunch-not bad, but I will not return. I ordered the blackened shrimp salad, which was not bad, but it needed a few more shrimp, and perhaps a cucumber. The mountain of greens was topped with bacon and a tomato. I also had the sangria. If you like cheap, flat, white zin with a wedge of orange, you’ll love the sangria. Me… not so much.
