I really like their FISHFILLETPORRIDGE! Make sure you ask for the Chinese Donuts! Service is great. Happy corner is served by… wait for it… happy waitresses. lol. Seriously, I was so impressed the first time and many years later as I’m writing this review. I feel Chinese restaurants are known for cheap food, dirty bathrooms, and poor service. This place is the exception for service. For example, I was waiting for my dad and by the time he showed up, the food was a bit cool. The waitresses offered to heat it up! So kind and out of the ordinary! The Chinese food is pretty standard and the prices matches the price. I always leave happy corner happy. =)

I used to love their Singaporean noodles but… ehhhhh… I got it because I stayed home from work… Not feeling too good partially because I ate a bad batch of kim chee… But that is a different story. The lady that works there is sweet, but one of I guess someone in the back accidentally have my order to someone else so my order took longer than it should have. I think someone got told off/fired as I sat there waiting for food. :/ I got home hungry and wanting to replenish myself from feeling sick, and dug right in. These noodles are quite sad. They are soft a squishy and don’t have that slight char that you get from a super heated Chinese wok. It felt like they hardly«wokked» it all. Shrimp were super small, and honestly not very much flavor. I dumped a bunch of Sriracha to try to make it better… But to no avail. I am sad and sick! What a terrible day.

This place has been my latest go to Chinese lunch spot. The sauces are very good. Not overwhelming with tons of veggies in their dishes.

So we arrived as an after thought because our intended dinner spot was not opened for another hour. The neighboring Sushi Joint left us sad and hungry so we stumbled in for the next best thing. Immediately I was pleasantly surprised by the wide open clean environment. The host however was a cold vague man that took us for telepathic communicators. It was about the 3rd time our eyes met he asked if we wanted a table. I sent him an awkward jesture to confirm his suspicion and this somehow seemed to puzzle him further and confirm my telepathic powers were not working. We decided to start with some beverages and allow for a few more minutes to go over the menu. Awkwardly the host hovered as we waited and hoped he leave and get our drinks. Instead he held our drinks for ransome. I glanced at my husband for a moment who was at this point trying to swallow his own spit to keep from dehydrating to see if he could guide me to make a decision to hurry up the process. The Menu offered no combination I liked so I ordered General Chicken and a side of rice. After several passes and failed telepathic attempts to remind him about our drinks I decided to ask just one more time… With a very snide, sarcastic response he let us know they were on the way. I politely told the man I would like to cancel my order and never mind the drinks.

I ordered the egg Flower soup, salty pepper spareribs and rice. The food was fantastic! The soup was thick, hearty & flavorful. The ribs were soft yet crunchy and delicious. My only complaint is I wish they had bigger rice portions: P. other than that, I absolutely loved it! The service is pretty good, and the interior is clean & spacious. Even the female bathroom had marble counter. :) It can get kind of quiet, so I think they could improve the atmosphere by playing some light bg music but that’s not a big deal. Overall, I would recommend this place for Chinese food and I will be coming back soon. :)

I ordered pork chow mein, cashew chicken, fried prawns, and a small order of steamed rice. They gave me pork fried rice instead of chow mein. Their fried rice is disgustingly mushy, with no flavor at all. There cashew chicken was ok but the container was half empty and it was pretty much all veggies. Their fried prawns are super tiny. They’re just regular shrimp that you would get in a dish, not prawns. I’m new to the area so I figured I would try it. Lesson learned never going back there again I wasted my money, and was very disappointed.

The food was delicious and authentic, customer service was good(it was take out). the pricing, however, was misleading: I came into this business transaction suspecting funny pricing due to prior reviews and I confirm fact that and add this: I called and specifically stated: «I would like the three items for $ 24.99 deal» 3 items for $ 24.99 comes out to $ 30.48 and does not include Soup… As stated on the online menu… I didn’t order any extra anything just three items… Perhaps they are charging tax on take-out… Which even at 8.25% comes to an additional 1.82… Meaning the price should have still been under $ 27… I was hungry and a few dollars is fine, but be weary of that bill if you are a staunch financier… Perhaps you should get a written estimate prior to ordering LOL

The customer service here has to be one of best out of all the Chinese restaurants that are on Freeport. The food is better than average, they have this pick 3 menu that also comes with rice and house soup for about $ 26-$ 30 which I think is a great deal. If we have any tofu people out there, this place has this entrée called ma pou tofu with ground pork it is delicious served over steamed rice. Overall it is a pleasant place to dine in, it is always clean and the old lady’s are so sweet and attentive.

DONOTGETTHERE3ITEMSPECIALFOR24.99. The window says $ 24.99 their menu says $ 25.99, but the bill will show $ 26.99. They also add additional fees for place settings over three people. They will charge you for rice per person and for extra rice and when it is normally included in the meal. Too bad, cuz the food is decent but they try to get one over on people because they charge anywhere from $ 2 to $ 6 on things that would normally be free, and if you don’t ask you would never know. We have been here a few times, and each time we notice that they have charged us for miscellaneous things. We asked for extra sauce, and they told us it would cost us a dollar fifty. Anything extra like sweet and sour sauce, or ginger sauce or anything extra they will figure out a way to charge you. So please take caution.

Average is the first word or thought that comes to mind when I think of this place, I wouldn’t not recommend it but at the same time I wouldn’t highly recommend it either. With so many Chinese food options on Freeport, this Happy Corner is mediocre at best. I’ll admit the lady I dealt with was nice and the dining area was clean and not dirty. They take care of the place and run a descent joint worth a try but nothing you will write home about.

This is one of the best Chinese restaurant around my work. The people are friendly and the food is good and lunch special are reasonable. I would recommend this place if they want some good and fast Chinese food. FYI: their restrooms are clean. which is a good sign.

I’ve been here once last year and the server was horrible so it took a while for me to come back and give them another try even though I did have good porridge on my last visit. However, this time I had a pleasant dinner! I sat down with my friend and we picked three dishes from their well-priced happy pick three menu: Fish fillets in black bean sauce, Chinese style sliced beef and BBQ pork with tofu. The lady who served us was so nice and welcoming. I liked all the dishes but the beef was a little too sweet for my taste, but it was very tender. I soaked the beef in my soup bowl trying to make the sweetness go away a little bit and it helped, but the server lady thought I was doing it because it was too greasy so she told me to ask her for«less oil» next time. It was a misunderstanding but I’m really glad that she paid attention to that, I said thanks and told her that I just thought the beef was a little too sweet but I will just order something else next time. And the dessert after dinner was absolutely delicious, would come back for sure.

Have you ever had that feeling when you just don’t want to cook dinner and your hungry? I am very familiar with that feeling, which is why I decided to order some takeout from the Happy Corner restaurant on Freeport boulevard. I walked in the restaurant to notice that it wasn’t too busy but I was in a take out kinda mood. When I walked in the hostess greeted me with a smile on her face and took my order immediately. I decided to get the Mu Shu chicken and a half order of the salted-pepper chicken wings. My order was bagged up and ready to go within 15 minutes. The chicken wings were somewhat bland however, they were extremely tender and juicy. I could’ve used some dipping sauces however such as Saracha, or teriyaki sauce, however this was not offered. The Mu Shu was pretty good. The bean sprouts and chopped up cabbage with onions and egg plant blended well. I did however feel that it was a little too wet as there was a lot of liquid in the bottom of the container. I used one of the rice paper tortillas to make a Mushu roll. And I used the homemade hoisin sauce to get the rice paper tortilla to stick together. The serving size of this meal was enough for two maybe three people. I like the fact that happy corner restaurant has large portions and is economically priced. However, I do think that happy corner could use a little more spices when making a Mushu. Although the service was excellent, I am giving happy corner restaurant three stars only because I felt that their food was a little bland.

Ever since Yeung City changed owners and became Happy Corner, I had been avoiding this place for some reason. Maybe it was the name, that didn’t sound quite serious enough about fine Chinese cuisine, or maybe it was the crazy Dollar Store next door, but man have I been missing out. Finally on the way to Akebono I was inspired to give this place a try. To my delight the waitress had a familiar face and it turned out she was from Fortune House. She was great: friendly, attentive, fast, competent. We ordered the family dinner special and added the special pork salted fish patty and wow we were so happy with everything. The fried fish fillet was out of this world. The batter was so light and thin it was visible only by the golden brown color. No way could you peel the batter off like you do at LJS. The honey beef steak was amazing as well. We ate almost everything it was so good. We grabbed the to go and special dinner menus are definitely coming back! As I told my boys when we were driving away, that spot was definitely a happy corner tonight!

This place is pretty hard to find since there isn’t a big sign outside with the restaurant’s name… but it’s next to Akebono, right at the corner. My family decided to have lunch here today instead of our usual spot down the street, since we hadn’t been back here since the restaurant changed hands. Seems like they are most famous for their jok(chinese porridge) here, they have lots of different kinds – we ordered the pork porridge with preserved egg, the seafood porridge, and the cod one. My favorite was the one with cod, just because I love fish. It comes in a large clay pot, almost every family there had one sitting on their table. I’m not sure if it’s included with the jok, but the chinese fried donuts(yow cha gwei, sp?) is very good here. We also got some other side dishes, like chinese broccoli(kai lan) and some boiled cabbage – not sure why! I’ve never seen boiled cabbage served at a restaurant bc anyone can make that at home! We ordered some noodle plates that were bland, no veggies or much meat. My favorite dish was the salt and pepper fried pork, and my least favorite was the roasted chicken – it was sooo dry! When we complained to the owner and chef they both asked, «Really? It’s dry? No, no, no… there’s no way!» And didn’t replace it for us or anything! We were pretty displeased with the way they reacted to the criticism. Don’t think I, or my family, will be back here any time soon.
