Visited Miso based on other Unilocal reviews and I am looking forward to returning and trying other dishes. We usually go to Korea House, and we were pleased that Miso has much better décor and ambiance. Tables are nice and I think they play Korean pop music. They play sports on two TVs, but they are discreet and muted so they are not distracting. I think this is a small, family-run business because the server seemed more casual than a normal employee. We visited on a Wednesday night around 7pm and they were completely dead. We were the only customers and service was OK, although it can be difficult to find a balance between attentive and annoying when you’re the only people in the restaurant. Water was refilled as needed, but it did take a little while to get our check. The server sat down with the sushi guy and they were chatting at a booth when we were ready to leave. Oh well. We ordered the dragon roll, volcano roll, beef bulgogi, and the kimchi bacon fried rice wrapped in an egg(can’t remember what it’s called). In the future, I would probably only order the dragon roll or not get sushi at all. The sushi was just OK, maybe the quality of the fish is better on the weekends when volume is higher. Presentation was great, particularly for the volcano roll, but would not be my first choice for sushi. The food came out of the kitchen at random times. Usually sushi comes out first, then entrees. Nope. We got the bulgogi about 15 minutes after ordering, followed by the dragon roll a few minutes later, then the fried rice, and lastly the volcano roll. Not particularly negative, just strange timing. Next time maybe we’ll ask to get the sushi first, so that the meal can be properly paced. Bulgogi was awesome, although I’m used to a little more sauce/broth. The fried rice with kimchi had great flavor, was just spicy enough, and delivered wrapped in an omelet. Next time we plan to order some appetizers, pork bulgogi, and perhaps the eel bowl or galbi. I’m happy to have a good Korean place in Round Rock!

Miso was really really yummy! Eating here was such an adventure. I loved everything and look forward to going back. I tasted the kimchi pancake, the UN sushi roll and the beef bulgogi.

We are not Korean but we just got back from 3 weeks vacation in Seoul and I’m really dying for some Korean food fix. Since we live in Pflugerville and don’t feel like to venture to Austin, we decided to try any Korean restaurant nearby. I picked Miso, our first time here and I think this place is a keeper. We ordered Kimchi fried rice, jjampong and chicken katsu for the kiddos. They were all so yummy and it was so close to what we had in Seoul. Bigger portion here of course which is a plus! Overall we will definitely be back. The place is clean, we were served quickly, foods came out hot and waters were filled all the time. Great all around!

Decent food, a little low on value/portion size for money for takeout. After tax a typical lunch takeout Bulgogi will set you back about $ 14, for this you will get a small box of rice, a small portion of meat and two sides in plastic wrap Kimchi as a side can be a hit and miss. Overall good, just need to be mindful that takeout is disproportionately stacked for value.

This is my favorite sushi in Austin. I stopped here before meeting someone at Gold’s(same shopping center) and was super happy with the food and presentation. I ordered tuna and salmon nigiri(off menu). The tuna came with a little tobiko on top and the salmon with a small slice of avocado on it. I also got some beef bulgogi which came with rice and 5 other sides. I love everything about this place.

Only thing second time I’ve seen okonomiyaki on a menu in Austin! That was a great sign, followed through nicely on a Japanese touch available for the kimchi-bacon fried rice, making it omu-rice for an extra buck. who wouldn’t? Their soju selection is limited, but they serve it as a frozen slush in an iced decanter. really nice. Nice décor and great service. Super pleased to have tried it, will go back.

We’re from San Antonio and we drove here to get stuff from Ikea. We were craving for some white rice and meat. I’m so glad we found Miso on Unilocal!Just browsing through their menu, I couldn’t decide what to get because all of them sound so good! I ended up getting beef bulgogi that came with rice and sides. My husband got the chicken katsu and it came with tiny rice balls and miso soup. I would say that it was reasonably priced because their portions were huge! My husband was saying that if we lived in this area, he wouldn’t mind eating there everyday and I totally agree!

First time eating at Miso, been on the list for awhile. He ordered the pork bulgogi & I ordered the kimchi bacon fried rice — both tasted great. Loved that the egg on the fried rice was sunny side up, so you can break it, reminded me of the fried rice I used to order when I was station in Korea. The Korean sides were tasty too, fish cakes & kimchi — had seconds on both.

I eat here often and I like it HOWEVER I don’t want my servers to be sitting down having a meal while serving my lunch. He eats something then gets up and grabs someone’s food to serve to them(including mine) and that GROSSESMEOUT! That is ridiculous and perhaps against health code. Wash your damn hands after you eat and BEFORE you serve my food! Probably a teenager but … Ugh!!!

My hubby and I tried this place for dinner last night for the first time — overall pretty impressed. When we arrives there was only one other group seated so we got a lot of personalized service. We wanted to try a little of everything so we orders the dumplings, a yellowtail sushi roll and the sweet and spicy chicken. All of the food was delicious and the dumplings and chicken were served HOT. We were a little surprised that the chicken didn’t come with rice but we loved the spicy yellowtail roll and could have eaten a few of those. Only complaint was that as the restaurant started filling up we lost the attention of our server and we sat for at least ten minutes without him looking our way once to let him know my husband needed a fork and water to eat his meal so he eventually got up and grabbed it himself.

This place was way better than expected. My first sign of whether a restaurant is good or bad was checked as soon as I walked through the door; it smelled fabulous! I do have to say the service left something to be desired but they were short staffed so I will give them that. I tried the red mountain roll and it was to die for! All fresh ingredients were used and the wasabi had wonderful flavor. I highly recommend this place.

I’m giving Miso 3.5 starts. I ordered the Chicken Bulgogi — tasted like they just added a bunch of onions… salt & pepper. It didn’t taste like the traditional chicken bulgogi to me. The Vegetable Yakisoba was just… okay. Not enough flavor and the portion size could be a bit larger. The banchans(kimchi, mung bean sprouts, pickled radish salad) were the best part of my meal. I also received a bowl of miso soup and rice. Friendly service but it took awhile for a server to take our drink order. I would like to come back and try their Kimchi Jigae or Beef Bulgogi. Maybe I will on my next vacation to Austin…

Hubby and I were craving sushi on a Friday afternoon… I Unilocaled a few nearby restaurants and stumbled upon Miso. We love some korean fare, so thought we’d give it a shot. Overall, first impression… nice looking establishment! It looked clean with hip music, but not overly pretentious. It looked like it catered to easy casual diners. We were seated rather quickly(arrived at 6:30pm) and noticed that there was only 1 waiter(and he had a LOT of tables… about 10?). Our waiter was also the host who seated us!(Poor guy)…we were worried the food would take a while, so we ordered right away. Food arrived about 15 min later… I enjoyed it! It filled my sushi and korean cravings! We ordered the dolsot bibimbap and 2 sushi rolls(spicy salmon roll and red … Red roll? Can’t remember the name). I left feeling very full. Pretty presentation and flavorful dishes. Dolsot bibimbap is served on hot stoneware so the rice is burnt a little(for a crispy texture). Yummy! I loved how they presented the salmon roll(spicy salmon was placed on TOP of the roll instead of inside)… Fancier way to present this simple roll. Like! I’d come again with some friends :) location in round rock gets extra bonus points since you can’t found a place like this north of Austin.

A solid 2.5 stars for Miso. Not the best ever, but superb nonetheless. Taking into account location(yes, North is a good thing) and the quality of the food, I will be returning. However, as another Unilocaler wrote in a negative review, the waiter(only one in the building) was a little slow and disorganized to be carrying the lunch rush on a solo mission. For two people ordering lunch specials, our tab was ~$ 27.00. Price is obviously reasonable, but I like to try to keep it under $ 10 during the week — that’s just the saver in me. I will be revisiting this review once I have more experience at Miso.

I enjoy both Japanese & Korean food, so the fusion twist they have going on is right up my alley. The bulgogi is grilled perfectly, with just enough char and caramelization to give a juicy, burst of sweet and savory flavors in every bite. I really enjoyed the fried rice as well. They prepare it with onions, peppers and spices for an extra kick. My favorite sushi roll is the«Kiss Me». They were spot on with the name because you literally want to make out with the roll as you eat it. Mmhmm

This review is solely based on the food I ate. I was a bit leary with this place to serve both Japanese and Korean food. I was in the mood for Korean Galbi. The portion size was huge to have left overs. The Galbi was grilled to perfection. The sauce had a hint of sweetness with overpowering the overall flavor. The kimchi was good but I wanted a little more heat. I give this place a thumbs up with the Korean food.

First time ordering TOGO and I must say I’m impressed. They got order right and quick. The kid’s Katsu Chicken was perfect for a gloomy day with a small miso soup. I wasn’t feeling well and this really made it better! WAYTOGO

Does a place get better with each visit? This place definitely does, I can’t say that for many of the other places I eat at. They added a new lunch menu. I love it. Got the spicy pork with a miso roll. Way too much food but man for the price alone on the lunch special. So much food and a great presentation. I find it either I come in at very odd non peak hours but they seem dead. I hope it’s just because I have weird lunch times. Which is most likely the case. I hope the business is thriving as it should be. Food is top notch. Best in round rock and we need more places like this!

This past Monday was my birthday, so I got to pick where to go for lunch with my co-workers, and I chose Miso. Miso is tucked away in one of the many strip malls in Round Rock, but don’t let the strip mall factor scare you off. The food here is legitimately very good. Lunch specials were huge. The lunch specials were between $ 9-$ 12 and came with a small salad, a soup, and a huge entrée. I tried one of the Bibimbap lunch specials — it was fantastic. Everyone who came enjoyed everything that they ate. Miso serves primarily Korean and Japanese food, so this place may not be for the faint of palette, but for adventurous eaters, you will be rewarded with some great, high quality, food. There are two reasons why I gave four instead of five stars: A) It’s understaffed. Okay, I realize they’re new, but the restaurant filled up during the lunch hour and they had a single waiter working his butt off to take orders and act as the host. B) Food was slow coming out. Lunch hour because lunch hour and a half after adding in the ten minute drive to get there. Again, likely a staffing issue. Go for a leisurely lunch and enjoy!

Since Rosie’s Phở is no longer there, enters«Miso». I was intrigued with the menu as there’s a mix of Japanese and Korean. They have a variety of original dishes that were really interesting. I was almost tempted to try each one, but that just means I’ll def come again! The waiter was surprised we ordered the seafood pancake since there was just two of us eating it. Surprise surprise, we finished it! He said the dish is normally for 4 people, oops! The portions were huge and that reflected with the prices. I added plenty of the spicy sauce they had with my bibimbap, but the bacon kimchi rice was so delightful and perfect just the way it is. Abundance of flavor, mmmmm! Very happy that they opened in Round Rock and hope they stay consistent! Also, they got us a cute cheesecake for my frjend’s birthday! Highly doubt they made it, but presentation was nice.
