This shop repaired my car after a collision, At that time it was called Sterling… but I’ve been dealing with same person/​people. Anyway… After I first took my car from them, after they repaired it… it didn’t take long for the passenger side window door trim to start coming off. Took it back, it was «snapped» back in. A few weeks later, it was coming off again. I don’t see it often because It’s on passenger side…& the only time I am reminded is when I have a passenger & they notice it. So this has been going on without being fixed for 3 years. Yeah… I admit, sometimes I forget about it because I don’t see it on the passengers side. Last time I took it back for same window door trim coming off, we discussed that maybe Lexus could fix it. Lexus wanted $ 200. Why is this my problem? I called the shop 2 weeks ago & left a message to be called back by someone who I won’t name, who knows the situation & whom I’ve been dealing with all this time. No return call. I also left a message on their website. 3 weeks ago… Nothing. So I’m done, and here’s is your well earned review.

We have gone here for a few years now. It used to be called Sterling Auto Body, now Service King.
My wife scraped her new car against a cement post in a parking garage. No dents, but a lot of scratches. She tried to cover up the scratches with touch up paint from the dealer, but it still looked bad. It was obvious where the touch up paint was applied.
So, we called Roamel who had taken care of us so very nicely over the years. He had his crew «buff out» the scratches explaining to us that Toyota uses so many coats of paint that it’s possible to use some of that «extra» paint to cover scratches.
The car was looking brand new in a couple of hours.

I would give this place minus stars if I could. Unfortunately, my catalytic converter was stolen. My husband and I went through Allstate who directed us over to Service King. All seemed fine at first. We had an $ 1000 deductible, but after the work was done, we were surprised to find out there was an extra $ 150 charge. The $ 150 came from a «betterment» fee which Allstate was charging for parts they replace because it’s considered better than the original part they are replacing.
Anyway, before the work was done, my husband had emailed Service King a work authorization form and asked them twice if the $ 1000 deductible would cover everything. Instead of answering, they did the work without telling us that there would be an extra fee. On top of that, my original Honda catalytic converter was replaced with an after market part (made by Walker) which they charged $ 925. Previous to Service King, we had gotten quotes from other shops who told us the a Honda catalytic converter is about $ 960, so how can an AFTER MARKET catalytic converter cost that much??? When we asked MIKE where he got the parts from, he told us that he got it from Midas. We also asked if we could see the invoice from Midas and he rudely told us they don’t show customers those invoices. Anyway, back at home, we called Midas who quoted $ 811. We also found the same Walker catalytic converter online for $ 265, $ 306, $ 325. How can there be a betterment fee when my original Honda part is being replaced with an after market part? Please explain.
So on top of $ 1150 which we had to pay that included a bologna betterment fee, Allstate needed to pay $ 250 for after market parts — Service King was ripping us both off.
IN THE END: My husband emailed Service King and cc’ed Allstate on it so Service King knew we were contacting our insurance company about shady pricing. We were also finally emailed the invoice from Midas. On the invoice, we saw that Midas not only ordered the parts but also did all the work in replacing everything. Basically, our car was driven off the lot to Midas to get all the work done without our knowledge and approval. Then, when we compared the Service King invoice to the Midas invoice, we saw that there was a twenty percent mark-​up from Service King which is interesting because they did NONE of the work. Anyway, after a lot of back and forth, Service King finally replaced our after market catalytic converter with Honda parts and Allstate waived the betterment fee. Just letting you guys know that with betterment fees, you will find nothing in your policies about it (which we brought up to Allstate and they never responded). On top of that, in Texas, Allstate was sued for that crap and had to pay $ 3.44M in settlement fees (look up —

Anyway, after all that, my rating still stays the same, minus stars x10 for both Service King and Allstate.

This winter has been horrendous in Chicagoland. Palatine had some of the worst pot holes I had seen on Rand Road. Then, I accidentally hit one.
Well, needless to say within days my tire pressure light turned on. It turns out the impact severely dented my 2013 Subaru Impreza rim. Darn Subaru put like four different wheels on their Impreza for 2013, so I needed a specific rim only from the Limited.
Enter Sterling. I brought it in, where we discovered the dent on the inside, which was actually allowing the air to seep slowly out of my tire. I only had 10 pounds in the tire when I brought it in instead of the 30 pounds recommended for a rear tire on this car.
Anyway, after noting that the wheel was too dented to repair, they were able to locate another rim exactly like the one I had. It was from another car that had switched their rims out, so it turned out to be a lot cheaper than a new wheel straight from Subaru. This was crucial as I could not open a claim for this with my insurance company since it would be considered collision and I did not want to pay my deductible.
Overall, I am happy with my experience. Sterling is also my dad’s favorite shop.

Poor service and even worse workmanship!

They fixed my car well, but they are just very bad with keeping in touch and keep you up to date on how things are going. They told me the car will be done by Friday and no one called. I called friday around 3pm and they told me it s not gonna be done but they will call me later on. They didn t! Saturday morning i called again and they told me i will only be available to pick it up monday around noon! monday around 4pm i called again bcs nobody called me! He said he THINKS it s ready and will check and call me back in 5 minutes! He calls after an hour to let me know it s ready… I will not use them again only for this reason!

This place made such a mess of my Ford Explorer I had to trade in car. Car was a beautiful two year old Ford Explorer. (Neighbor backed up into my parked car). Brought to shop as Allstate approved shop. Received back car that looked like crap. Paint mismatched, painted over two dead bugs on hood of car and panel seams did not line up. Shop manager refused to make repairs. To make matters worse a month later severe rust began to appear on hood. I returned to Sterling who said, yup panel is rusting, and for an additional $ 1200 they will repair their screw up.
I was so upset with the poor bodywork as I would cringe every morning when I went out to drive to work and see the rust on the hood. I traded in car and took a $ 7000 loss due to mess they made.
Avoid this shop.

I had my front bumper and one side front trim fixed after I got reverse-​rear-​ended. The estimate was for $ 3000-​$ 4000 (don’t remember), so it was a pretty big job. I was given an estimate of a week.
The people were nice, though I have to say, it doesn’t give you that feeling of the little car shop around the corner if you like that. It’s very clean and kind of sterile-​looking inside, but I didn’t mind that. They seem very professional. There’s an Allstate inspector and agent there, and an Enterprise out back.
I picked up my car 2 days before, and they had cleaned up the inside of my car. It smelled nice and lemony, and I couldn’t tell anything was every wrong with it! Quick and easy dropoff and pickup. I would come here again.
